2024-01-05microblaze: drop/restrict override of .text, .data, and .bssJan Beulich1-37/+9
While only ELF is supported right now, (stub) code generally is in place for the non-ELF case as well. Don't override .bss for ELF - that's unlikely to be a good idea anyway and prevented the sub-section specifier from being usable. Don't override .text and .data at all - for .data and ELF for the same reason, while for .text and ELF obj-elf.c's is all we need, and for (hypothetical) non-ELF read.c's identical handling would have been invoked anyway.

Adds two new external authors to etc/update-copyright.py to cover bfd/ax_tls.m4, and adds gprofng to dirs handled automatically, then updates copyright messages as follows: 1) Update cgen/utils.scm emitted copyrights. 2) Run "etc/update-copyright.py --this-year" with an extra external author I haven't committed, 'Kalray SA.', to cover gas testsuite files (which should have their copyright message removed). 3) Build with --enable-maintainer-mode --enable-cgen-maint=yes. 4) Check out */po/*.pot which we don't update frequently.

This patches adds new bsefi and bsifi instructions. BSEFI- The instruction shall extract a bit field from a register and place it right-adjusted in the destination register. The other bits in the destination register shall be set to zero. BSIFI- The instruction shall insert a right-adjusted bit field from a register at another position in the destination register. The rest of the bits in the destination register shall be unchanged. Further documentation of these instructions can be found here: https://docs.xilinx.com/v/u/en-US/ug984-vivado-microblaze-ref With version 6 of the patch, no new relocation types are added as this was unnecessary for adding the bsefi and bsifi instructions. FIXED: Segfault caused by incorrect termination of microblaze_opcodes. The result of running etc/update-copyright.py --this-year, fixing all the files whose mode is changed by the script, plus a build with --enable-maintainer-mode --enable-cgen-maint=yes, then checking out */po/*.pot which we don't update frequently. The copy of cgen was with commit d1dd5fcc38ead reverted as that commit breaks building of bfp opcodes files.

Inserting with replacement is wrong for some gas hash table uses. This patch implements an htab_insert that conditionally replaces, and similarly for str_hash_insert. str_hash_insert with replace=0 is roughly equivalent to the older hash_insert, and str_hash_insert with replace=1 to the older hash_jam, but return values are different. I found it useful to know whether the slot was occupied prior to inserting/replacing. I've also reinstated the fatal errors on messing up opcode tables with duplicates. Clang's integrated assembler supports multiple section with the same name: .section .text,"ax",@progbits,unique,1 nop .section .text,"ax",@progbits,unique,2 nop "unique,N" assigns the number, N, as the section ID, to a section. The valid values of the section ID are between 0 and 4294967295. It can be used to distinguish different sections with the same section name. This is useful with -fno-unique-section-names -ffunction-sections. -ffunction-sections by default generates .text.foo, .text.bar, etc. Using the same string can save lots of space in .strtab. This patch adds section_id to bfd_section and reuses the linker internal bit in BFD section flags, SEC_LINKER_CREATED, for assmebler internal use to mark valid section_id. This large patch removes the unnecessary bfd parameter from various bfd section macros and functions. The bfd is hardly ever used and if needed for the bfd_set_section_* or bfd_rename_section functions can be found via section->owner except for the com, und, abs, and ind std_section special sections. Those sections shouldn't be modified anyway. The patch also removes various bfd_get_section_<field> macros, replacing their use with bfd_section_<field>, and adds bfd_set_section_lma. I've also fixed a minor bug in gas where compressed section renaming was done directly rather than calling bfd_rename_section. This is mostly just adding const in many places, however there are a couple interesting things. We need to add casts in tc-s390.c and tc-cris.c because they have functions that assign to input_line_pointer an argument that sometimes comes from md_parse_option. Presumably this is safe because those targets never pass literals to md_parse_option (), but this code should probably be improved in the future. However it appears niether the generic code or the microblaze code modifies what fr_opcode points to, so this code should be safe.
