On boards using the AXP717 PMIC, the DRAM rail is often not setup correctly at reset time, so we have to program the PMIC very early in the SPL, before running the DRAM initialisation. Using the new generic AXP SPL driver, add the Kconfig options and platform bits needed to support an AXP717 PMIC chip in I2C mode. This allows to set up the correct voltage for the DRAM chips and the CPU cores. Signed-off-by: Andre Przywara <andre.przywara@arm.com> Tested-by: Ryan Walklin <ryan@testtoast.com>

The original H616 devices released about three years ago were typically paired with an X-Powers AXP305 PMIC. Newer devices uses the smaller AXP313, and there seem to be far more systems with this PMIC around now. Remove the default AXP305 selection for the H616 SoC from the Kconfig, and move the PMIC selection into the board defconfig files instead. Add a simple AXP313 PMIC driver that knows about DCDC2(CPU) and DCDC3(DRAM), so that we can bump up the voltage before the DRAM init. 2023-11-12sunxi: board: simplify early PMIC setup conditionsAndre Przywara1-1/+1
So far we have a convoluted #ifdef mesh that guards the early AXP PMIC setup in board.c. That combination of &&, || and negations is very hard to read, maintain and especially to extend. Fortunately we have those same conditions already modelled in the Kconfig file, so they are actually redundant. On top of that the real reason we have those preprocessor guards in the first place is about the symbols that are *conditionally* defined: without #ifdefs the build would break because of them being undefined for many boards. To simplify this, just change the guards to actually look at the symbols needed, so CONFIG_AXP_xxx_VOLT instead of CONFIG_AXPyyy_POWER. This drastically improves the readability of this code, and makes adding PMIC support a pure Kconfig matter. Doing this revealed one bug in Kconfig: there is no axp_set_dcdc4() for the AXP818, even though CONFIG_AXP_DCDC4_VOLT includes that PMIC. Since the AXP818 wasn't included when calling axp_set_dcdc4() in board.c, this wasn't an issue, but becomes one now, so also remove the AXP818 from the DCDC4 Kconfig symbol. 2022-07-07spl: Ensure all SPL symbols in Kconfig have some SPL dependencyTom Rini1-0/+1
Tighten up symbol dependencies in a number of places. Ensure that a SPL specific option has at least a direct dependency on SPL. In places where it's clear that we depend on something more specific, use that dependency instead. This means in a very small number of places we can drop redundant dependencies. 2021-09-04power: Add a POWER configSimon Glass1-2/+15
At present we have SPL_POWER but not piain POWER. This works because there is a special build rule in Makefile that always includes the drivers/power directory. It is better to have all driver directories included by drivers/Makefile and there is already a rule in there for this purpose. It just needs a Kconfig for U-Boot proper, so add one. Update the pmic.h header file so that it defines the old pmic struct always, when driver model is not in use. That will avoid build errors for boards which enable POWER but not DM_PMIC. Enable this option always. That seems strange at first sight, but it actually but mimics the current Makefile behaviour. Once we can drop the old PMICs it should be easy enough to rename DM_PMIC to POWWER, or something similar. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>

This converts the following to Kconfig: CONFIG_POWER_I2C CONFIG_POWER_LEGACY They are handled at the same time due to a dependency between them. 2018-12-07power: axp209: Limit inrush current for broken boardsOlliver Schinagl1-0/+9
Some boards feature a capacitance on LDO3's output that is too large, causing inrush currents which as a result, shut down the AXP209. This has been reported before, without knowing the actual cause. A fix appeared to be done with commit 0e6e34ac8dbb ("sunxi: Olimex A20 boards: Enable LDO3 and LDO4 regulators"). The description there is a bit misleading, the kernel does not hang during AXP209 initialization, the PMIC shuts down, causing voltages to drop and thus the whole system freezes. While the AXP209 does have the ability to ramp up the voltage slowly, to reduce these inrush currents, the voltage rate control (VRC) however is not applicable when switching on the LDO3 output. Only when going from an enabled lower voltage setting, to a higher voltage setting is the VRC in effect. To work around this problem, we set LDO3 to the lowest possible setting of 0.7 V if it was not yet enabled, and then let the VRC (if enabled) do its thing. It should be noted, that for some undocumented reason, there is a short delay needed between setting the LDO3 voltage register and enabling the power. One would expect that this delay ought to be just after enabling the output power at 0.7 V, but this did not work. 2018-12-07power: axp209: Add support for voltage rate control on LDO3Olliver Schinagl1-0/+34
The AXP209 LDO3 regulator supports voltage rate control, or can set a slew rate. This allows for the power to gradually rise up to the desired voltage, instead of spiking up as fast as possible. Reason to have this can be to reduce the inrush currents for example. There are 3 slopes to choose from, the default, 'none' is a voltage rise of 0.0167 V/uS, a 1.6 mV/uS and a 0.8 mV/uS voltage rise. In ideal world (where vendors follow the recommended design guidelines) this setting should not be enabled by default. Unless of course AXP209 crashes instead of reporting overcurrent condition as it normally should do in this case. The reason for having this option is that the Android kernel sets ELDO3 to 1.2V when powering up LCD in the case if 'lcd_if' configuration variable is set to 6 (LCD_IF_EXT_DSI) in the FEX file. Most likely to supply power for a SSD2828 chip. However on the MSI Primo81 tablet, which is using this particular 'lcd_if = 6' setup for LCD, setting the ELDO3 voltage appears to be unnecessary and it works regardless.
