2020-02-21sh4: Fix PCI ISA IO memory subregionGuenter Roeck1-8/+3
Booting the r2d machine from flash fails because flash is not discovered. Looking at the flattened memory tree, we see the following. FlatView #1 AS "memory", root: system AS "cpu-memory-0", root: system AS "sh_pci_host", root: bus master container Root memory region: system 0000000000000000-000000000000ffff (prio 0, i/o): io 0000000000010000-0000000000ffffff (prio 0, i/o): r2d.flash @0000000000010000 The overlapping memory region is sh_pci.isa, ie the ISA I/O region bridge. This region is initially assigned to address 0xfe240000, but overwritten with a write into the PCIIOBR register. This write is expected to adjust the PCI memory window, but not to change the region's base adddress. Peter Maydell provided the following detailed explanation. "Section 22.3.7 and in particular figure 22.3 (of "SSH7751R user's manual: hardware") are clear about how this is supposed to work: there is a window at 0xfe240000 in the system register space for PCI I/O space. When the CPU makes an access into that area, the PCI controller calculates the PCI address to use by combining bits 0..17 of the system address with the bits 31..18 value that the guest has put into the PCIIOBR. That is, writing to the PCIIOBR changes which section of the IO address space is visible in the 0xfe240000 window. Instead what QEMU's implementation does is move the window to whatever value the guest writes to the PCIIOBR register -- so if the guest writes 0 we put the window at 0 in system address space." Fix the problem by calling memory_region_set_alias_offset() instead of removing and re-adding the PCI ISA subregion on writes into PCIIOBR. At the same time, in sh_pci_device_realize(), don't set iobr since it is overwritten later anyway. Instead, pass the base address to memory_region_add_subregion() directly. sysemu/sysemu.h is a rather unfocused dumping ground for stuff related to the system-emulator. Evidence: * It's included widely: in my "build everything" tree, changing sysemu/sysemu.h still triggers a recompile of some 1100 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h, down from 5400 due to the previous two commits). * It pulls in more than a dozen additional headers. Split stuff related to run state management into its own header sysemu/runstate.h. Touching sysemu/sysemu.h now recompiles some 850 objects. qemu/uuid.h also drops from 1100 to 850, and qapi/qapi-types-run-state.h from 4400 to 4200. Touching new sysemu/runstate.h recompiles some 500 objects. Since I'm touching MAINTAINERS to add sysemu/runstate.h anyway, also add qemu/main-loop.h. In my "build everything" tree, changing hw/qdev-properties.h triggers a recompile of some 2700 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h). Many places including hw/qdev-properties.h (directly or via hw/qdev.h) actually need only hw/qdev-core.h. Include hw/qdev-core.h there instead. hw/qdev.h is actually pointless: all it does is include hw/qdev-core.h and hw/qdev-properties.h, which in turn includes hw/qdev-core.h. Replace the remaining uses of hw/qdev.h by hw/qdev-properties.h. While there, delete a few superfluous inclusions of hw/qdev-core.h. Touching hw/qdev-properties.h now recompiles some 1200 objects. Several other headers include it just to get qemu_irq and.or qemu_irq_handler. Move the qemu_irq and qemu_irq_handler typedefs from hw/irq.h to qemu/typedefs.h, and then include hw/irq.h only where it's still needed. Touching it now recompiles only some 500 objects. 2019-05-02hw/usb/hcd-ohci: Move PCI-related code into a separate fileThomas Huth1-1/+1
Some machines (like the pxa2xx-based ARM machines) only have a sysbus OHCI controller, but no PCI. With the new Kconfig-style build system, it will soon be possible to create QEMU binaries that only contain such PCI-less machines. However, the two OHCI controllers, for sysbus and for PCI, are currently both located in one file, so the PCI code is still required for linking here. Move the OHCI-PCI device code into a separate file, so that it is possible to use the sysbus OHCI device also without the PCI dependency. Our pflash devices are simplistically modelled has having "num-blocks" sectors of equal size "sector-length". Real hardware commonly has sectors of different sizes. How our "sector-length" property is related to the physical device's multiple sector sizes is unclear. Helper functions pflash_cfi01_register() and pflash_cfi02_register() create a pflash device, set properties including "sector-length" and "num-blocks", and realize. They take parameters @size, @sector_len and @nb_blocs. QOMification left parameter @size unused. Obviously, @size should match @sector_len and @nb_blocs, i.e. size == sector_len * nb_blocs. All callers satisfy this. Remove @nb_blocs and compute it from @size and @sector_len. 2019-03-11r2d: Fix flash memory size, sector size, width, device IDMarkus Armbruster1-4/+12
pflash_cfi02_register() takes a size in bytes, a block size in bytes and a number of blocks. r2d_init() passes FLASH_SIZE, 16 * KiB, FLASH_SIZE >> 16. Does not compute: size doesn't match block size * number of blocks. The latter happens to win: FLASH_SIZE / 4, i.e. 8MiB. The best information we have on the physical hardware lists a Cypress S29PL127J60TFI130 128MiBit NOR flash addressable in words of 16 bits, in sectors of 4 and 32 Kibiwords. We don't model multiple sector sizes. Fix the flash size from 8 to 16MiB, and adjust the sector size from 16 to 64KiB. Fix the width from 4 to 2. While there, supply the real device IDs 0x0001, 0x227e, 0x2220, 0x2200 instead of zeros. 2019-01-11avoid TABs in files that only contain a fewPaolo Bonzini1-8/+8
Most files that have TABs only contain a handful of them. Change them to spaces so that we don't confuse people. disas, standard-headers, linux-headers and libdecnumber are imported from other projects and probably should be exempted from the check. Outside those, after this patch the following files still contain both 8-space and TAB sequences at the beginning of the line. pci_bus_init(), pci_bus_new_inplace(), pci_bus_new() and pci_register_bus() are misleadingly named. They're not used for initializing *any* PCI bus, but only for a root PCI bus. Non-root buses - i.e. ones under a logical PCI to PCI bridge - are instead created with a direct qbus_create_inplace() (see pci_bridge_initfn()). Almost every user of cpu_generic_init() checks for returned NULL and then reports failure in a custom way and aborts process. Some users assume that call can't fail and don't check for failure, though they should have checked for it. In either cases cpu_generic_init() failure is fatal, so instead of checking for failure and reporting it various ways, make cpu_generic_init() report errors in consistent way and terminate QEMU on failure. Time to wire up all the call sites that request a shutdown or reset to use the enum added in the previous patch. It would have been less churn to keep the common case with no arguments as meaning guest-triggered, and only modified the host-triggered code paths, via a wrapper function, but then we'd still have to audit that I didn't miss any host-triggered spots; changing the signature forces us to double-check that I correctly categorized all callers. Since command line options can change whether a guest reset request causes an actual reset vs. a shutdown, it's easy to also add the information to reset requests. Block backends defined with -drive if=ide are meant to be picked up by machine initialization code: a suitable frontend gets created and wired up automatically. if=ide drives not picked up that way can still be used with -device as if they had if=none, but that's unclean and best avoided. Unused ones produce an "Orphaned drive without device" warning. -drive parameter "if" is optional, and the default depends on the machine type. If a machine type doesn't specify a default, the default is "ide". Many machine types default to if=ide, even though they don't actually have an IDE controller. A future patch will change these defaults to something more sensible. To prepare for it, this patch makes default "ide" explicit for the machines that actually pick up if=ide drives: * alpha: clipper * arm/aarch64: spitz borzoi terrier tosa * i386/x86_64: generic-pc-machine (with concrete subtypes pc-q35-* pc-i440fx-* pc-* isapc xenfv) * mips64el: fulong2e * mips/mipsel/mips64el: malta mips * ppc/ppc64: mac99 g3beige prep * sh4/sh4eb: r2d * sparc64: sun4u sun4v Note that ppc64 machine powernv already sets an "ide" default explicitly. To disburden the main folder a little bit, let's move the target-xxx folders into a dedicated target/ folder, so that target-xxx/ simply becomes target/xxx/ instead. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h, compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a similar job to this file and are under similar constraints." qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of 100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need. Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List. Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h, sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h comment quoted above similarly. This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on qapi-types.h shrinks only a little.
