27 hours[clang] Use the VFS in `ModuleDependencyCollector` (#160944)Jan Svoboda1-5/+6
This PR starts using the correct VFS in `ModuleDependencyCollector` instead of using the real FS directly. This matches compiler's behavior for other input files.
2025-05-31[Frontend] Remove unused includes (NFC) (#142256)Kazu Hirata1-1/+0
These are identified by misc-include-cleaner. I've filtered out those that break builds. Also, I'm staying away from llvm-config.h, config.h, and Compiler.h, which likely cause platform- or compiler-specific build failures.
2024-05-11[clang] Use StringRef::operator== instead of StringRef::equals (NFC) (#91844)Kazu Hirata1-1/+1
I'm planning to remove StringRef::equals in favor of StringRef::operator==. - StringRef::operator==/!= outnumber StringRef::equals by a factor of 24 under clang/ in terms of their usage. - The elimination of StringRef::equals brings StringRef closer to std::string_view, which has operator== but not equals. - S == "foo" is more readable than S.equals("foo"), especially for !Long.Expression.equals("str") vs Long.Expression != "str".
2024-02-08[clang][lex] Always pass suggested module to `InclusionDirective()` callback ↵Jan Svoboda1-1/+2
(#81061) This patch provides more information to the `PPCallbacks::InclusionDirective()` hook. We now always pass the suggested module, regardless of whether it was actually imported or not. The extra `bool ModuleImported` parameter then denotes whether the header `#include` will be automatically translated into import the the module. The main change is in `clang/lib/Lex/PPDirectives.cpp`, where we take care to not modify `SuggestedModule` after it's been populated by `LookupHeaderIncludeOrImport()`. We now exclusively use the `SM` (`ModuleToImport`) variable instead, which has been equivalent to `SuggestedModule` until now. This allows us to use the original non-modified `SuggestedModule` for the callback itself. (This patch turns out to be necessary for https://github.com/apple/llvm-project/pull/8011).

2023-01-13[clang] Report the on-disk paths for inputs to module compilesJan Svoboda1-3/+10
Since D135636, PCM files contain the "as requested" path of input files. The machinery for generating dependency files reports those paths as they appeared in the PCM file, which may confuse consumers that are not aware of VFS overlays that might've been in place at compile-time. This patch makes sure the "use-external-name" setting is being respected when generating dependency files in modular builds by piping the paths serialized in PCMs through `FileEntryRef::getName()` before putting them into dependency files. rdar://103459532 Reviewed By: benlangmuir Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D141644
2022-12-20[Clang] Prepare for llvm::Optional becoming std::optional.Benjamin Kramer1-1/+1
The needed tweaks are mostly trivial, the one nasty bit is Clang's usage of OptionalStorage. To keep this working old Optional stays around as clang::CustomizableOptional, with the default Storage removed. Optional<File/DirectoryEntryRef> is replaced with a typedef. I tested this with GCC 7.5, the oldest supported GCC I had around. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D140332
2022-12-18Revert "[clang] Convert OptionalFileEntryRefDegradesToFileEntryPtr to ↵Krzysztof Parzyszek1-4/+2
std::optional" This reverts commit 8f0df9f3bbc6d7f3d5cbfd955c5ee4404c53a75d. The Optional*RefDegradesTo*EntryPtr types want to keep the same size as the underlying type, which std::optional doesn't guarantee. For use with llvm::Optional, they define their own storage class, and there is no way to do that in std::optional. On top of that, that commit broke builds with older GCCs, where std::optional was not trivially copyable (static_assert in the clang sources was failing).

2022-04-14[clang][lex] NFCI: Use FileEntryRef in PPCallbacks::InclusionDirective()Jan Svoboda1-3/+3
This patch changes type of the `File` parameter in `PPCallbacks::InclusionDirective()` from `const FileEntry *` to `Optional<FileEntryRef>`. With the API change in place, this patch then removes some uses of the deprecated `FileEntry::getName()` (e.g. in `DependencyGraph.cpp` and `ModuleDependencyCollector.cpp`). 2021-04-06[SystemZ][z/OS][Windows] Add new OF_TextWithCRLF flag and use this flag ↵Abhina Sreeskantharajan1-1/+1
instead of OF_Text Problem: On SystemZ we need to open text files in text mode. On Windows, files opened in text mode adds a CRLF '\r\n' which may not be desirable. Solution: This patch adds two new flags - OF_CRLF which indicates that CRLF translation is used. - OF_TextWithCRLF = OF_Text | OF_CRLF indicates that the file is text and uses CRLF translation. Developers should now use either the OF_Text or OF_TextWithCRLF for text files and OF_None for binary files. If the developer doesn't want carriage returns on Windows, they should use OF_Text, if they do want carriage returns on Windows, they should use OF_TextWithCRLF. So this is the behaviour per platform with my patch: z/OS: OF_None: open in binary mode OF_Text : open in text mode OF_TextWithCRLF: open in text mode Windows: OF_None: open file with no carriage return OF_Text: open file with no carriage return OF_TextWithCRLF: open file with carriage return The Major change is in llvm/lib/Support/Windows/Path.inc to only set text mode if the OF_CRLF is set. ``` if (Flags & OF_CRLF) CrtOpenFlags |= _O_TEXT; ``` These following files are the ones that still use OF_Text which I left unchanged. I modified all these except raw_ostream.cpp in recent patches so I know these were previously in Binary mode on Windows. ./llvm/lib/Support/raw_ostream.cpp ./llvm/lib/TableGen/Main.cpp ./llvm/tools/dsymutil/DwarfLinkerForBinary.cpp ./llvm/unittests/Support/Path.cpp ./clang/lib/StaticAnalyzer/Core/HTMLDiagnostics.cpp ./clang/lib/Frontend/CompilerInstance.cpp ./clang/lib/Driver/Driver.cpp ./clang/lib/Driver/ToolChains/Clang.cpp Reviewed By: MaskRay Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D99426
2021-01-25Support: Remove duplicated code in {File,clang::ModulesDependency}Collector, NFCDuncan P. N. Exon Smith1-46/+6
Refactor the duplicated canonicalize-path logic in `FileCollector` and `ModulesDependencyCollector` into a new utility called `PathCanonicalizer` that's shared. This popped up when tracking down a bug common to both in https://reviews.llvm.org/D95202. As drive-bys, update a few names and comments to better reflect the effect of the code, delay removal of `..`s to avoid an unnecessary extra string copy, and leave behind a couple of FIXMEs for future consideration. Rather than reimplement, use a `using` declaration to bring in `SmallVectorImpl<char>`'s assign and append implementations in `SmallString`. The `SmallString` versions were missing reference invalidation assertions from `SmallVector`. This patch also fixes a bug in `llvm::FileCollector::addFileImpl`, which was a copy/paste from `clang::ModuleDependencyCollector::copyToRoot`, both caught by the no-longer-skipped assertions. As a drive-by, this also sinks the `const SmallVectorImpl&` versions of these methods down into `SmallVectorImpl`, since I imagine they'd be useful elsewhere. This doesn't actually modify StringRef yet, I'll do that in a follow-up.

2018-10-24[VFS] Remove 'ignore-non-existent-contents' attribute for YAML-based VFS.Volodymyr Sapsai1-4/+0
'ignore-non-existent-contents' stopped working after r342232 in a way that the actual attribute value isn't used and it works as if it is always `true`. Common use case for VFS iteration is iterating through files in umbrella directories for modules. Ability to detect if some VFS entries point to non-existing files is nice but non-critical. Instead of adding back support for `'ignore-non-existent-contents': false` I am removing the attribute, because such scenario isn't used widely enough and stricter checks don't provide enough value to justify the maintenance. rdar://problem/45176119 Reviewers: bruno Reviewed By: bruno Subscribers: hiraditya, dexonsmith, sammccall, cfe-commits Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D53228 llvm-svn: 345212

If 'true', the VFS should ignore the entry and continue with the next. Allows YAML files to be shared across multiple compiler invocations regardless of prior existent paths in 'external-contents'. This global value is overridable on a per-file basis. This adds the parsing and write test part, but use by VFS comes next. 2016-05-13[ModuleMap][CrashReproducer] Collect headers from inner frameworksBruno Cardoso Lopes1-0/+28
(1) Collect headers under inner frameworks (frameworks inside other other frameworks). (2) Make sure we also collect the right header files inside them. More info on (2): Consider a dummy framework module B, with header Frameworks/B/B.h. Now consider that another framework A, with header Frameworks/A/A.h, has a layout with a inner framework Frameworks/A/Frameworks/B/B.h, where the "B/B.h" part is a symlink for Frameworks/B/B.h. Also assume that Frameworks/A/A.h includes <B/B.h>. When parsing header Frameworks/A/A.h, framework module lookup is performed in search for B, and it happens that "Frameworks/A/Frameworks/B/B.h" path is registered in the module instead of real "Frameworks/B/B.h". This occurs because "Frameworks/A/Frameworks/B/B.h" is scanned first by the FileManager, when looking for inner framework modules under Frameworks/A/Frameworks. This makes Frameworks/A/Frameworks/B/B.h the default cached named inside the FileManager for the B.h file UID. This leads to modules being built without consistent paths to underlying header files. This is usually not a problem in regular compilation flow, but it's an issue when running the crash reproducer. The issue is that clangs collect "Frameworks/A/Frameworks/B/B.h" but not "Frameworks/B/B.h" into the VFS, leading to err_mmap_umbrella_clash. So make sure we also collect the original header. 2016-05-06[CrashReproducer] Always use realpath for destinationBruno Cardoso Lopes1-20/+13

2016-03-30[CrashReproducer] Add a module map callback for added headersBruno Cardoso Lopes1-1/+20
The current ModuleDependencyCollector has a AST listener to collect header files present in loaded modules, but this isn't enough to collect all headers needed in the crash reproducer. One of the reasons is that the AST writer doesn't write symbolic link header paths in the pcm modules, this makes the listeners on the reader only able to collect the real files. Since the module maps could contain submodules that use headers which are symbolic links, not collecting those forbid the reproducer scripts to regen the modules. For instance: usr/include/module.map: ... module pthread { header "pthread.h" export * module impl { header "pthread_impl.h" export * } } ... usr/include/pthread/pthread_impl.h usr/include/pthread_impl.h -> pthread/pthread_impl.h The AST dump for the module above: <SUBMODULE_HEADER abbrevid=6/> blob data = 'pthread_impl.h' <SUBMODULE_TOPHEADER abbrevid=7/> blob data = '/<path_to_sdk>/usr/include/pthread/pthread_impl.h' Note that we don't have "usr/include/pthread_impl.h" which is requested by the module.map in case we want to reconstruct the module in the reproducer. The reason the original symbolic link path isn't used is because the headers are kept by name and requested through the FileManager, which unique files and returns the real path only. To fix that, add a callback to be invoked everytime a header is added while parsing module maps and hook that up to the module dependecy collector. This callback is only registered when generating the reproducer. Differential Revision: http://reviews.llvm.org/D18585 rdar://problem/24499339 llvm-svn: 264971

2016-03-20Reapply [2] [VFS] Add 'overlay-relative' field to YAML filesBruno Cardoso Lopes1-0/+4
This reapplies r261552 and r263748. Fixed testcase to reapply. The VFS overlay mapping between virtual paths and real paths is done through the 'external-contents' entries in YAML files, which contains hardcoded paths to the real files. When a module compilation crashes, headers are dumped into <name>.cache/vfs directory and are mapped via the <name>.cache/vfs/vfs.yaml. The script generated for reproduction uses -ivfsoverlay pointing to file to gather the mapping between virtual paths and files inside <name>.cache/vfs. Currently, we are only capable of reproducing such crashes in the same machine as they happen, because of the hardcoded paths in 'external-contents'. To be able to reproduce a crash in another machine, this patch introduces a new option in the VFS yaml file called 'overlay-relative'. When it's equal to 'true' it means that the provided path to the YAML file through the -ivfsoverlay option should also be used to prefix the final path for every 'external-contents'. Example, given the invocation snippet "... -ivfsoverlay <name>.cache/vfs/vfs.yaml" and the following entry in the yaml file: "overlay-relative": "true", "roots": [ ... "type": "directory", "name": "/usr/include", "contents": [ { "type": "file", "name": "stdio.h", "external-contents": "/usr/include/stdio.h" }, ... Here, a file manager request for virtual "/usr/include/stdio.h", that will map into real path "/<absolute_path_to>/<name>.cache/vfs/usr/include/stdio.h. This was applied twice r261551 and 263617 and later reverted because: (1) Windows bot failing on unittests. Change the current behavior to do not handle path traversals on windows. (2) Windows bot failed to include llvm/Config/config.h in order to use HAVE_REALPATH. Use LLVM_ON_UNIX instead, as done in lib/Basic/FileManager.cpp. Handle ".", ".." and "./" with trailing slashes while collecting files to be dumped into the vfs overlay directory. Include the support for symlinks into components. Given the path: /install-dir/bin/../lib/clang/3.8.0/include/altivec.h, if "bin" component is a symlink, it's not safe to use `path::remove_dots` here, and `realpath` is used to get the right answer. Since `realpath` is expensive, we only do it at collecting time (which only happens during the crash reproducer) and cache the base directory for fast lookups. Overall, this makes the input to the VFS YAML file to be canonicalized to never contain traversal components.
