2024-01-12Update copyright year range in header of all files managed by GDBAndrew Burgess1-1/+1
This commit is the result of the following actions: - Running gdb/copyright.py to update all of the copyright headers to include 2024, - Manually updating a few files the copyright.py script told me to update, these files had copyright headers embedded within the file, - Regenerating gdbsupport/Makefile.in to refresh it's copyright date, - Using grep to find other files that still mentioned 2023. If these files were updated last year from 2022 to 2023 then I've updated them this year to 2024. I'm sure I've probably missed some dates. Feel free to fix them up as you spot them.
2023-01-01Update copyright year range in header of all files managed by GDBJoel Brobecker1-1/+1
This commit is the result of running the gdb/copyright.py script, which automated the update of the copyright year range for all source files managed by the GDB project to be updated to include year 2023.

2022-08-04Use registry in gdbarchTom Tromey1-5/+5
gdbarch implements its own registry-like approach. This patch changes it to instead use registry.h. It's a rather large patch but largely uninteresting -- it's mostly a straightforward conversion from the old approach to the new one. The main benefit of this change is that it introduces type safety to the gdbarch registry. It also removes a bunch of code. One possible drawback is that, previously, the gdbarch registry differentiated between pre- and post-initialization setup. This doesn't seem very important to me, though.
2022-01-01Automatic Copyright Year update after running gdb/copyright.pyJoel Brobecker1-1/+1
This commit brings all the changes made by running gdb/copyright.py as per GDB's Start of New Year Procedure. For the avoidance of doubt, all changes in this commits were performed by the script.
2021-03-08Remove union exp_elementTom Tromey1-9/+0
This removes union exp_element functions that either create such elements or walk them. struct expression no longer holds exp_elements. A couple of language_defn methods are also removed, as they are obsolete. Note that this patch also removes the print_expression code. The only in-tree caller of this was from dump_prefix_expression, which is only called when expression debugging is enabled. Implementing this would involve a fair amount of code, and it seems to me that prefix dumping is preferable anyway, as it is unambiguous. So, I have not reimplemented this feature. gdb/ChangeLog 2021-03-08 Tom Tromey <tom@tromey.com> * value.h (evaluate_subexp_with_coercion): Don't declare. * parse.c (exp_descriptor_standard): Remove. 2020-10-23gdb: move Modula2 language class into a header fileAndrew Burgess1-10/+120
Move the m2_language class from m2-lang.c into m2-lang.h. The benefit of this move is that we can remove trampoline functions. Currently the language implementation is split of different m2-* files with m2-lang.h including declaration for all the language implementation functions. Currently the m2_language class in m2-lang.c has member functions that then call the global functions declared in m2-lang.h. After this change the m2_language class is declared in m2-lang.h, and the member functions are the implementations defined in all the m2-* files. There should be no user visible changes after this commit. gdb/ChangeLog: * m2-exp.y (m2_parse): Rename to... (m2_language::parser): ...this. Update function signature. * m2-lang.c (m2_printchar): Renamed to m2_language::printchar. (m2_op_print): Rename to... (m2_language::op_print_tab): ...this, and make const. 2019-02-07Normalize include guards in gdbTom Tromey1-0/+4
While working on my other scripts to deal with gdb headers, I noticed that some files were missing include guards. I wrote a script to add the missing ones, but found that using the obvious names for the guards ran into clashes -- for example, gdb/nat/linux-nat.h used "LINUX_NAT_H", but this was also the script's choice for gdb/linux-nat.h. So, I changed the script to normalize all include guards in gdb. This patch is the result. As usual the script is available here: https://github.com/tromey/gdb-refactoring-scripts Tested by rebuilding; I also ran it through "Fedora-x86_64-m64" on the buildbot. gdb/ChangeLog 2019-02-07 Tom 2019-01-01Update copyright year range in all GDB files.Joel Brobecker1-1/+1
This commit applies all changes made after running the gdb/copyright.py script. Note that one file was flagged by the script, due to an invalid copyright header (gdb/unittests/basic_string_view/element_access/char/empty.cc). As the file was copied from GCC's libstdc++-v3 testsuite, this commit leaves this file untouched for the time being; a patch to fix the header was sent to gcc-patches first. gdb/ChangeLog: Update copyright year range in all GDB files.
2018-06-18Remove la_errorTom Tromey1-2/+0
While working on the parser code, I noticed that yyerror is exported from each parser. It is used by this code in parse.c: TRY { if (lang->la_parser (&ps)) lang->la_error (NULL); } However, it seems to me that la_error will never be called here, because in every case, la_parser throws an exception on error -- each implementation of yyerror just calls error. So, this patch removes la_error and makes all the yyerror functions static. This is handy primarily because it makes it simpler to make the expression parsers pure. Tested by the buildbot. gdb/ChangeLog 2018-06-18 Tom Tromey <tom@tromey.com> * rust-lang.h (rust_yyerror): Don't declare. * rust-lang.c (rust_language_defn): Update. * rust-exp.y (yyerror): Now static. * parse.c (parse_exp_in_context_1): Update. * p-lang.h (p_yyerror): Don't declare. * p-lang.c (p_language_defn): Update. * p-exp.y (yyerror): Now static. * opencl-lang.c (opencl_language_defn): Update. * objc-lang.c (objc_language_defn): Update. * m2-lang.h (m2_yyerror): Don't declare. * m2-lang.c (m2_language_defn): Update. * m2-exp.y (yyerror): Now static. * language.h (struct language_defn) <la_error>: Remove. * language.c (unk_lang_error): Remove. 2017-01-01update copyright year range in GDB filesJoel Brobecker1-1/+1

2016-11-08Remove parameter valaddr from la_val_printYao Qi1-2/+2
Nowadays, we pass both val and return value of value_contents_for_printing (val) to la_val_print. The latter is unnecessary. This patch removes the second parameter of la_val_print, and get valaddr in each language's implementation by calling value_contents_for_printing. Since value_contents_for_printing calls value_fetch_lazy, I also make VAL non-const. Note that - I don't clean up the valaddr usages in each language's routines, - I don't remove valaddr from apply_ext_lang_val_pretty_printer, and extension language ops apply_val_pretty_printer. They can be done in followup patches. gdb: 2016-11-08 Yao Qi <yao.qi@linaro.org> * ada-lang.h (ada_val_print): Remove second parameter. 2016-04-22Centralize yacc interface names remapping (yyparse, yylex, yyerror, etc)Pedro Alves1-1/+1
This factors out all the yy-variables remapping to a single file, instead of each parser having to do the same, with different prefixes. With this, a parser just needs to define the prefix they want and include yy-remap.h, which does the dirty job. Note this renames the c_error, ada_error, etc. functions. Writing the remapping pattern as: #define yyerror GDB_YY_REMAP (error) instead of: #define yyerror GDB_YY_REMAP (yyerror) would have avoided the renaming. However, that would be problematic if we have a macro 'foo' in scope, when we write: #define yyfoo GDB_YY_REMAP (foo) as that would expand 'foo'. The c_yyerror etc. naming end ups indicating that this is a yacc related function more clearly, so feels like a good change, anyway. gdb/ChangeLog: 2016-04-22 Pedro Alves <palves@redhat.com> * ada-exp.y: Remove all yy symbol remappings. 2014-03-27Remove `expout*' globals from parser-defs.hSergio Durigan Junior1-1/+2
This commit removes the "expout*" globals from our parser code, turning them into a structure that is passed when an expression needs to be evaluated. This is the initial step to make our parser less "globalized". This is mostly a mechanical patch, which creates a structure containing the "expout*" globals and then modify all the functions that handle them in order to take the structure as argument. It is big, and has been reviewed at least 4 times, so I think everything is covered.
