There have been several changes in the ABI of Objective-C which
depend on the OS version targetted. In this case Protocols and
LabelProtocols should be made weak/hidden/extern from macOS 10.7
however there was a mistake in the code causing this to occur
from macOS 10.6. Fixed thus.

When looking at the analyzer MEM_REF invalid second arg issue, I've noticed
tons of build_int_cst (integer_type_node, {0,1}) or build_zero_cst
(integer_type_node) cases.
That just wastes compile time (albeit not very much).
The following patch fixes what my sed script found.

I've searched for some uses of (HOST_WIDE_INT) constant or (unsigned
HOST_WIDE_INT) constant and turned them into uses of the appropriate
macros.
THere are quite a few cases in non-i386 backends but I've left that out
for now.
The only behavior change is in build_replicated_int_cst where the
left shift was done in HOST_WIDE_INT type but assigned to unsigned
HOST_WIDE_INT, which I've changed into unsigned HOST_WIDE_INT shift.

We have reports of regressions in both Objective-C and Objective-C++ on
Darwin23 (macOS 14). In some cases, these are linker warnings about the
alignment of CFString constants; in other cases the built executables
crash during runtime initialization. The underlying issue is the same in
both cases; since the objects (CFStrings, Objective-C meta-data) are TU-
local, we are choosing to increase their alignment for efficiency - to
values greater than ABI alignment.
However, although these objects are TU-local, they are also visible to the
linker (since they are placed in specific named sections). In many cases
the metadata can be regarded as tables of data, and thus it is expected
that these sections can be concatenated from multiple TUs and the data
treated as tabular. In order for this to work the data cannot be allowed
to exceed ABI alignment - which leads to the crashes.
For GCC-15+ it would be nice to find a more elegant solution to this issue
(perhaps by adjusting the concept of binds-locally to exclude specific
named sections) - but I do not want to do that in stage 4.
The solution here is to force the alignment to be preserved as created by
setting DECL_USER_ALIGN on the relevant objects.

The tokenizer makes use of functions that determine if identifiers
are interface or class names, and those functions need a hash map
to be set up.
This ensures that these are initialized before pre-process-only
jobs are run.

This is seen on 32b hosts with a 64b multilib, and is an ICE when
the build has checking enabled. The fix is to exit the routine
early if the sender or receiver are already error_mark_node.

This patch implements clang's __has_feature and __has_extension in GCC.
Currently the patch aims to implement all documented features (and some
undocumented ones) following the documentation at
https://clang.llvm.org/docs/LanguageExtensions.html with the exception
of the legacy features for C++ type traits. These are omitted, since as
the clang documentation notes, __has_builtin is the correct "modern" way
to query for these (which GCC already implements).

While working on PR c/111903, I Noticed that
convert will convert integer_zero_node to that
type after an error instead of returning error_mark_node.
From what I can tell this was the old way of not having
error recovery since other places in this file does return
error_mark_node and the places I am replacing date from
when the file was imported into the repro (either via a gcc2 merge
or earlier).
I also had to update the objc front-end to allow for the error_mark_node
change, I suspect you could hit the ICE without this change though.
Bootstrapped and tested on x86_64-linux-gnu with no regressions.

Many functions defined in our headers are declared 'static inline' which
is a C idiom whose use predates our move to C++ as the implementation
language. But in C++ the inline keyword is more than just a compiler
hint, and is sufficient to give the function the intended semantics.
In fact declaring a function both static and inline is a pessimization
since static effectively disables the desired definition merging
behavior enabled by inline, and is also a source of (harmless) ODR
violations when a static inline function gets called from a non-static
inline one (such as tree_operand_check calling tree_operand_length).
This patch mechanically fixes the vast majority of occurrences of this
anti-pattern throughout the compiler's headers via the command line
sed -i 's/^static inline/inline/g' gcc/*.h gcc/*/*.h
There's also a manual change to remove the redundant declarations
of is_ivar and lookup_category in gcc/objc/objc-act.cc which would
otherwise conflict with their modified definitions in objc-act.h
(due to the difference in staticness).
Besides fixing some ODR violations, this speeds up stage1 cc1plus by
about 2% and reduces the size of its text segment by 1.5MB.

C2x allows function prototypes to be given as (...), a prototype
meaning a variable-argument function with no named arguments. To
allow such functions to access their arguments, requirements for
va_start calls are relaxed so it ignores all but its first argument
(i.e. subsequent arguments, if any, can be arbitrary pp-token
sequences).
Implement this feature accordingly. The va_start relaxation in
<stdarg.h> is itself easy: __builtin_va_start already supports a
second argument of 0 instead of a parameter name, and calls get
converted internally to the form using 0 for that argument, so
<stdarg.h> just needs changing to use a variadic macro that passes 0
as the second argument of __builtin_va_start. (This is done only in
C2x mode, on the expectation that users of older standard would expect
unsupported uses of va_start to be diagnosed.)
For the (...) functions, it's necessary to distinguish these from
unprototyped functions, whereas previously C++ (...) functions and
unprototyped functions both used NULL TYPE_ARG_TYPES. A flag is added
to tree_type_common to mark the (...) functions; as discussed on gcc@,
doing things this way is likely to be safer for unchanged code in GCC
than adding a different form of representation in TYPE_ARG_TYPES, or
adding a flag that instead signals that the function is unprototyped.
There was previously an option
-fallow-parameterless-variadic-functions to enable support for (...)
prototypes. The support was incomplete - it treated the functions as
unprototyped, and only parsed some declarations, not e.g.
"int g (int (...));". This option is changed into a no-op ignored
option; (...) is always accepted syntactically, with a pedwarn_c11
call to given required diagnostics when appropriate. The peculiarity
of a parameter list with __attribute__ followed by '...' being
accepted with that option is removed.
Interfaces in tree.cc that create function types are adjusted to set
this flag as appropriate. It is of course possible that some existing
users of the functions to create variable-argument functions actually
wanted unprototyped functions in the no-named-argument case, rather
than functions with a (...) prototype; some such cases in c-common.cc
(for built-in functions and implicit function declarations) turn out
to need updating for that reason.
I didn't do anything to change how the C++ front end creates (...)
function types. It's very likely there are unchanged places in the
compiler that in fact turn out to need changes to work properly with
(...) function prototypes.
Target setup_incoming_varargs hooks, where they used the information
passed about the last named argument, needed updating to avoid using
that information in the (...) case. Note that apart from the x86
changes, I haven't done any testing of those target changes beyond
building cc1 to check for syntax errors. It's possible further
target-specific fixes will be needed; target maintainers should watch
out for failures of c2x-stdarg-4.c or c2x-stdarg-split-1a.c, the
execution tests, which would indicate that this feature is not working
correctly. Those tests also verify the case where there are named
arguments but the last named argument has a declaration that results
in undefined behavior in previous C standard versions, such as a type
changed by the default argument promotions.

This patch adds support to gcc's diagnostic subsystem for emitting
diagnostics in SARIF, aka the Static Analysis Results Interchange Format:

by extending -fdiagnostics-format= to add two new options:
-fdiagnostics-format=sarif-stderr
and:
-fdiagnostics-format=sarif-file
The patch targets SARIF v2.1.0
This is a JSON-based format suited for capturing the results of static
analysis tools (like GCC's -fanalyzer), but it can also be used for plain
GCC warnings and errors.
SARIF supports per-event metadata in diagnostic paths such as
["acquire", "resource"] and ["release", "lock"] (specifically, the
threadFlowLocation "kinds" property: SARIF v2.1.0 section 3.38.8), so
the patch extends GCC"s diagnostic_event subclass with a "struct meaning"
with similar purpose. The patch implements this for -fanalyzer so that
the various state-machine-based warnings set these in the SARIF output.
The heart of the implementation is in the new file
diagnostic-format-sarif.cc. Much of the rest of the patch is interface
classes, isolating the diagnostic subsystem (which has no knowledge of
e.g. tree or langhook) from the "client" code in the compiler proper
cc1 etc).
The patch adds a langhook for specifying the SARIF v2.1.0
"artifact.sourceLanguage" property, based on the list in
SARIF v2.1.0 Appendix J.
The patch adds automated DejaGnu tests to our testsuite via new
scan-sarif-file and scan-sarif-file-not directives (although these
merely use regexps, rather than attempting to use a proper JSON parser).
I've tested the patch by hand using the validator at:

and the react-based viewer at:
https://microsoft.github.io/sarif-web-component/
which successfully shows most of the information (although not paths,
and not CWE IDs), and I've fixed all validation errors I've seen (though
bugs no doubt remain).
I've also tested the generated SARIF using the VS Code extension linked
to from the SARIF website; I'm a novice with VS Code, but it seems to be
able to handle my generated SARIF files (e.g. showing the data in the
SARIF tab, and showing squiggly underlines under issues, and when I
click on them, it visualizes the events in the path inline within the
source window).

On the following testcase (the first dg-error line) we emit a weird
diagnostics and even fixit on pointerpointer->member
where pointerpointer is pointer to pointer to struct and we say
'pointerpointer' is a pointer; did you mean to use '->'?
The first part is indeed true, but suggesting -> when the code already
does use -> is confusing.
The following patch adjusts callers so that they tell it if it is from
. parsing or from -> parsing and in the latter case suggests to dereference
the left operand instead by adding (* before it and ) after it (before ->).
Or would a suggestion to add [0] before -> be better?

The following testcase ICEs, because middle-end uses the C++ FE pretty
printing code through langhooks in the diagnostics.
The FE expects OBJ_TYPE_REF_OBJECT's type to be useful (pointer to the
class type it is called on), but in the middle-end conversions between
pointer types are useless, so the actual type can be some random
unrelated pointer type (in the testcase void * pointer). The pretty
printing code then ICEs on it.
The following patch fixes that by sticking the original
OBJ_TYPE_REF_OBJECT's also as type of OBJ_TYPE_REF_TOKEN operand.
That one must be an INTEGER_CST, all the current uses of
OBJ_TYPE_REF_TOKEN just use tree_to_uhwi or tree_to_shwi on it,
and because it is constant, there is no risk of the middle-end propagating
into it some other pointer type. So, approach similar to how MEM_REF
treats its second operand or a couple of internal functions (e.g.
IFN_VA_ARG) some of its parameters.
