2024-11-15c: Add _Decimal64x supportJakub Jelinek1-0/+2
The following patch adds _Decimal64x type support. Our dfp libraries (dpd & libbid) can only handle decimal32, decimal64 and decimal128 formats and I don't see that changing any time soon, so the following patch just hardcodes that _Decimal64x has the same mode as _Decimal128 (but is a distinct type). 2023-11-14Add type-generic clz/ctz/clrsb/ffs/parity/popcount builtins [PR111309]Jakub Jelinek1-1/+67
The following patch adds 6 new type-generic builtins, __builtin_clzg __builtin_ctzg __builtin_clrsbg __builtin_ffsg __builtin_parityg __builtin_popcountg The g at the end stands for generic because the unsuffixed variant of the builtins already have unsigned int or int arguments. The main reason to add these is to support arbitrary unsigned (for clrsb/ffs signed) bit-precise integer types and also __int128 which wasn't supported by the existing builtins, so that e.g. <stdbit.h> type-generic functions could then support not just bit-precise unsigned integer type whose width matches a standard or extended integer type, but others too. None of these new builtins promote their first argument, so the argument can be e.g. unsigned char or unsigned short or unsigned __int20 etc. The first 2 support either 1 or 2 arguments, if only 1 argument is supplied, the behavior is undefined for argument 0 like for other __builtin_c[lt]z* builtins, if 2 arguments are supplied, the second argument should be int that will be returned if the argument is 0. All other builtins have just one argument. For __builtin_clrsbg and __builtin_ffsg the argument shall be any signed standard/extended or bit-precise integer, for the others any unsigned standard/extended or bit-precise integer (bool not allowed). One possibility would be to also allow signed integer types for the clz/ctz/parity/popcount ones (and just cast the argument to unsigned_type_for during folding) and similarly unsigned integer types for the clrsb/ffs ones, dunno what is better; for stdbit.h the current version is sufficient and diagnoses use of the inappropriate sign, though on the other side I wonder if users won't be confused by __builtin_clzg (1) being an error and having to write __builtin_clzg (1U). The new builtins are lowered to corresponding builtins with other suffixes or internal calls (plus casts and adjustments where needed) during FE folding or during gimplification at latest, the non-suffixed builtins handling precisions up to precision of int, l up to precision of long, ll up to precision of long long, up to __int128 precision lowered to double-word expansion early and the rest (which must be _BitInt) lowered to internal fn calls - those are then lowered during bitint lowering pass. The patch also changes representation of IFN_CLZ and IFN_CTZ calls, previously they were in the IL only if they are directly supported optab and depending on C[LT]Z_DEFINED_VALUE_AT_ZERO (...) == 2 they had or didn't have defined behavior at 0, now they are in the IL either if directly supported optab, or for the large/huge BITINT_TYPEs and they have either 1 or 2 arguments. If one, the behavior is undefined at zero, if 2, the second argument is an int constant that should be returned for 0. As there is no extra support during expansion, for directly supported optab the second argument if present should still match the C[LT]Z_DEFINED_VALUE_AT_ZERO (...) == 2 value, but for BITINT_TYPE arguments it can be arbitrary int INTEGER_CST. 2023-06-15middle-end, i386: Pattern recognize add/subtract with carry [PR79173]Jakub Jelinek1-0/+24
The following patch introduces {add,sub}c5_optab and pattern recognizes various forms of add with carry and subtract with carry/borrow, see pr79173-{1,2,3,4,5,6}.c tests on what is matched. Primarily forms with 2 __builtin_add_overflow or __builtin_sub_overflow calls per limb (with just one for the least significant one), for add with carry even when it is hand written in C (for subtraction reassoc seems to change it too much so that the pattern recognition doesn't work). __builtin_{add,sub}_overflow are standardized in C23 under ckd_{add,sub} names, so it isn't any longer a GNU only extension. Note, clang has for these (IMHO badly designed) __builtin_{add,sub}c{b,s,,l,ll} builtins which don't add/subtract just a single bit of carry, but basically add 3 unsigned values or subtract 2 unsigned values from one, and result in carry out of 0, 1, or 2 because of that. If we wanted to introduce those for clang compatibility, we could and lower them early to just two __builtin_{add,sub}_overflow calls and let the pattern matching in this patch recognize it later. I've added expanders for this on ix86 and in addition to that added various peephole2s (in preparation patches for this patch) to make sure we get nice (and small) code for the common cases. I think there are other PRs which request that e.g. for the _{addcarry,subborrow}_u{32,64} intrinsics, which the patch also improves. Would be nice if support for these optabs was added to many other targets, arm/aarch64 and powerpc* certainly have such instructions, I'd expect in fact that most targets do. into fold-const-call.cc Here is an incremental patch to handle constant folding of these in fold-const-call.cc rather than gimple-fold.cc. Not really sure if that is the way to go because it is replacing 28 lines of former code with 65 of new code, for the overall benefit that say int foo (long long *p) { int one = 1; long long max = __LONG_LONG_MAX__; return __builtin_add_overflow (one, max, p); } can be now fully folded already in ccp1 pass while before it was only cleaned up in forwprop1 pass right after it. This patch implements Richard Sandiford's suggestion from https://gcc.gnu.org/pipermail/gcc-patches/2023-May/618215.html that wi::bswap (and a new wi::bitreverse) should be functions, and ideally only accessors are member functions. 2022-10-31builtins: Add __builtin_nextafterf16b builtinJakub Jelinek1-0/+1
The following patch adds another needed builtin. The earlier patch adds among other things __builtin_nextafterf16 builtin which we need in order to constexpr evaluate std::nextafter(_Float16) overload (patch for that has been posted already). While there is inline implementation of the overload, it isn't constant evaluation friendly, and the builtin doesn't need libm implementation because it will be used only during constant expression evaluation. When working on libstdc++ extended float support in <cmath>, I found that we need various builtins for the _Float{16,32,64,128,32x,64x,128x} types. Glibc 2.26 and later provides the underlying libm routines (except for _Float16 and _Float128x for the time being) and in libstdc++ I think we need at least the _Float128 builtins on x86_64, i?86, powerpc64le and ia64 (when long double is IEEE quad, we can handle it by using __builtin_*l instead), because without the builtins the overloads couldn't be constexpr (say when it would declare the *f128 extern "C" routines itself and call them). Here is a complete patch to add std::bfloat16_t support on x86 (AArch64 and ARM left for later). Almost no BFmode optabs are added by the patch, so for binops/unops it extends to SFmode first and then truncates back to BFmode. For {HF,SF,DF,XF,TF}mode -> BFmode conversions libgcc has implementations of all those conversions so that we avoid double rounding, for BFmode -> {DF,XF,TF}mode conversions to avoid growing libgcc too much it emits BFmode -> SFmode conversion first and then converts to the even wider mode, neither step should be imprecise. For BFmode -> HFmode, it first emits a precise BFmode -> SFmode conversion and then SFmode -> HFmode, because neither format is subset or superset of the other, while SFmode is superset of both. expr.cc then contains a -ffast-math optimization of the BF -> SF and SF -> BF conversions if we don't optimize for space (and for the latter if -frounding-math isn't enabled either). For x86, perhaps truncsfbf2 optab could be defined for TARGET_AVX512BF16 but IMNSHO should FAIL if !flag_finite_math || flag_rounding_math || !flag_unsafe_math_optimizations, because I think the insn doesn't raise on sNaNs, hardcodes round to nearest and flushes denormals to zero. By default (unless x86 -fexcess-precision=16) we use float excess precision for BFmode, so truncate only on explicit casts and assignments. The patch introduces a single __bf16 builtin - __builtin_nansf16b, because (__bf16) __builtin_nansf ("") will drop the sNaN into qNaN, and uses f16b suffix instead of bf16 because there would be ambiguity on log vs. logb - __builtin_logbf16 could be either log with bf16 suffix or logb with f16 suffix. The following patch implements a new builtin, __builtin_issignaling, which can be used to implement the ISO/IEC TS 18661-1 issignaling macro. It is implemented as type-generic function, so there is just one builtin, not many with various suffixes. This patch doesn't address PR56831 nor PR58416, but I think compared to using glibc issignaling macro could make some cases better (as the builtin is expanded always inline and for SFmode/DFmode just reinterprets a memory or pseudo register as SImode/DImode, so could avoid some raising of exception + turning sNaN into qNaN before the builtin can analyze it). For floading point modes that do not have NaNs it will return 0, otherwise I've tried to implement this for all the other supported real formats. It handles both the MIPS/PA floats where a sNaN has the mantissa MSB set and the rest where a sNaN has it cleared, with the exception of format which are known never to be in the MIPS/PA form. The MIPS/PA floats are handled using a test like (x & mask) == mask, the other usually as ((x ^ bit) & mask) > val where bit, mask and val are some constants. IBM double double is done by doing DFmode test on the most significant half, and Intel/Motorola extended (12 or 16 bytes) and IEEE quad are handled by extracting 32-bit/16-bit words or 64-bit parts from the value and testing those.
