2022-01-11c++: Fix ICEs with OBJ_TYPE_REF pretty printing [PR101597]Jakub Jelinek1-1/+1
The following testcase ICEs, because middle-end uses the C++ FE pretty printing code through langhooks in the diagnostics. The FE expects OBJ_TYPE_REF_OBJECT's type to be useful (pointer to the class type it is called on), but in the middle-end conversions between pointer types are useless, so the actual type can be some random unrelated pointer type (in the testcase void * pointer). The pretty printing code then ICEs on it. The following patch fixes that by sticking the original OBJ_TYPE_REF_OBJECT's also as type of OBJ_TYPE_REF_TOKEN operand. That one must be an INTEGER_CST, all the current uses of OBJ_TYPE_REF_TOKEN just use tree_to_uhwi or tree_to_shwi on it, and because it is constant, there is no risk of the middle-end propagating into it some other pointer type. So, approach similar to how MEM_REF treats its second operand or a couple of internal functions (e.g. IFN_VA_ARG) some of its parameters. 2022-01-11 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> PR c++/101597 gcc/ * tree.def (OBJ_TYPE_REF): Document type of OBJ_TYPE_REF_TOKEN. gcc/cp/ * class.c (build_vfn_ref): Build OBJ_TYPE_REF with INTEGER_CST OBJ_TYPE_REF_TOKEN with type equal to OBJ_TYPE_REF_OBJECT type. * error.c (resolve_virtual_fun_from_obj_type_ref): Use type of OBJ_TYPE_REF_TOKEN rather than type of OBJ_TYPE_REF_OBJECT as obj_type. gcc/objc/ * objc-act.c (objc_rewrite_function_call): Build OBJ_TYPE_REF with INTEGER_CST OBJ_TYPE_REF_TOKEN with type equal to OBJ_TYPE_REF_OBJECT type. * objc-next-runtime-abi-01.c (build_objc_method_call): Likewise. * objc-gnu-runtime-abi-01.c (build_objc_method_call): Likewise. * objc-next-runtime-abi-02.c (build_v2_objc_method_fixup_call, build_v2_build_objc_method_call): Likewise. gcc/testsuite/ * g++.dg/opt/pr101597.C: New test.

2021-12-12Replace gnu::unique_ptr with std::unique_ptrJonathan Wakely1-1/+1
Now that GCC is compiled as C++11 there is no need to keep the C++03 implementation of gnu::unique_ptr. This removes the unique-ptr.h header and replaces it with <memory> in system.h, and changes the INCLUDE_UNIQUE_PTR macro to INCLUDE_MEMORY. Uses of gnu::unique_ptr and gnu::move can be replaced with std::unique_ptr and std::move. There are no uses of unique_xmalloc_ptr or xmalloc_deleter in GCC. gcc/analyzer/ChangeLog: * engine.cc: Define INCLUDE_MEMORY instead of INCLUDE_UNIQUE_PTR. gcc/c-family/ChangeLog: * known-headers.cc: Define INCLUDE_MEMORY instead of INCLUDE_UNIQUE_PTR. * name-hint.h: Likewise. 2021-11-24c++: Fix missing NSDMI diagnostic in C++98 [PR103347]Marek Polacek1-16/+16
Here the problem is that we aren't detecting a NSDMI in C++98: struct A { void *x = NULL; }; because maybe_warn_cpp0x uses input_location and that happens to point to NULL which comes from a system header. Jakub suggested changing the location to the '=', thereby avoiding the system header problem. To that end, I've added a new location_t member into cp_declarator. This member is used when this declarator is part of an init-declarator. The rest of the changes is obvious. I've also taken the liberty of adding loc_or_input_loc, since I want to avoid checking for UNKNOWN_LOCATION. PR c++/103347 gcc/cp/ChangeLog: * cp-tree.h (struct cp_declarator): Add a location_t member. (maybe_warn_cpp0x): Add a location_t parameter with a default argument. 2021-11-15c++: Add -fimplicit-constexprJason Merrill1-1/+2
With each successive C++ standard the restrictions on the use of the constexpr keyword for functions get weaker and weaker; it recently occurred to me that it is heading toward the same fate as the C register keyword, which was once useful for optimization but became obsolete. Similarly, it seems to me that we should be able to just treat inlines as constexpr functions and not make people add the extra keyword everywhere. There were a lot of testcase changes needed; many disabling errors about non-constexpr functions that are now constexpr, and many disabling implicit constexpr so that the tests can check the same thing as before, whether that's mangling or whatever. gcc/c-family/ChangeLog: * c.opt: Add -fimplicit-constexpr. * c-cppbuiltin.c: Define __cpp_implicit_constexpr. * c-opts.c (c_common_post_options): Disable below C++14. gcc/cp/ChangeLog: * cp-tree.h (struct lang_decl_fn): Add implicit_constexpr. (decl_implicit_constexpr_p): New. * class.c (type_maybe_constexpr_destructor): Use TYPE_HAS_TRIVIAL_DESTRUCTOR and maybe_constexpr_fn. 2021-05-27c++: Output less irrelevant info for function template decl [PR100716]Matthias Kretz1-15/+48
Ensure dump_template_decl for function templates never prints template parameters after the function name (it did with -fno-pretty-templates) and skip output of irrelevant & confusing "[with T = T]" in dump_substitution. gcc/cp/ChangeLog: PR c++/100716 * error.c (dump_template_bindings): Include code to print "[with" and ']', conditional on whether anything is printed at all. This is tied to whether a semicolon is needed to separate multiple template parameters. If the template argument repeats the template parameter (T = T), then skip the parameter. (dump_substitution): Moved code to print "[with" and ']' to dump_template_bindings. (dump_function_decl): Partial revert of PR50828, which masked TFF_TEMPLATE_NAME for all of dump_function_decl. 2021-05-20c++: Add new warning options for C++ language mismatchesJonathan Wakely1-18/+19
This adds new warning flags, enabled by default: -Wc++11-extensions, -Wc++14-extensions, -Wc++17-extensions, -Wc++20-extensions, and -Wc++23-extensions. The names of the flags are copied from Clang, which already has similar options. No new diagnostics are added, but the new OPT_Wxxx variables are used to control existing pedwarns about occurences of new C++ constructs in code using an old C++ standard dialect. This allows several existing warnings that cannot currently be disabled to be controlled by the appropriate -Wno-xxx flag. For example, it will now be possible to disable warnings about using variadic templates in C++98 code, by using the new -Wno-c++11-extensions option. This will allow libstdc++ headers to disable those warnings unconditionally by using diagnostic pragmas, so that they are not emitted even if -Wsystem-headers is used. Some of the affected diagnostics are currently only given when -Wpedantic is used. Now that we have a more specific warning flag, we could consider making them not depend on -Wpedantic, and only on the new flag. This patch does not do that, as it intends to make no changes to what is accepted/rejected by default. The only effect should be that the new option is shown when -fdiagnostics-show-option is active, and that some warnings can be disabled by using the new flags (and for the warnings that previously only dependend on -Wpedantic, it will now be possible to disable just those warnings while still using -Wpedantic for its other benefits). gcc/c-family/ChangeLog: * c.opt (Wc++11-extensions, Wc++14-extensions) (Wc++17-extensions, Wc++20-extensions, Wc++23-extensions): New options. gcc/cp/ChangeLog: * call.c (maybe_warn_array_conv): Use new warning option. * decl.c (mark_inline_variable, grokdeclarator): Likewise. * error.c (maybe_warn_cpp0x): Likewise. * parser.c (cp_parser_primary_expression) (cp_parser_unqualified_id) (cp_parser_pseudo_destructor_name) (cp_parser_lambda_introducer) (cp_parser_lambda_declarator_opt) (cp_parser_selection_statement) (cp_parser_init_statement) (cp_parser_decomposition_declaration) (cp_parser_function_specifier_opt) (cp_parser_static_assert) (cp_parser_namespace_definition) (cp_parser_using_declaration) (cp_parser_asm_definition) (cp_parser_ctor_initializer_opt_and_function_body) (cp_parser_initializer_list) (cp_parser_type_parameter_key) (cp_parser_member_declaration) (cp_parser_try_block) (cp_parser_std_attribute_spec): Likewise. * pt.c (check_template_variable): Likewise. gcc/ChangeLog: * doc/invoke.texi (-Wno-c++11-extensions) (-Wno-c++14-extensions, -Wno-c++17-extensions) (-Wno-c++20-extensions, -Wno-c++23-extensions): Document new options.

2021-02-25c++: Fix pretty printing the context of local class [PR99213]Patrick Palka1-3/+1
My r10-7705 patch for PR94521 made us set TFF_NO_FUNCTION_ARGUMENTS when pretty printing the function scope of a local class type in order to eliminate infinite recursion with a function signature that contains decltype([]{}). But due to the way dump_function_decl works, this change regressed our pretty printing of local class types whose context contains a class template specialization, as in the testcase below, in which we wrongly pretty print the two local types as 'A<T>::f<char>::S1' and 'B<T>::f<int>::S2'. This patch makes dump_scope pass TFF_NO_TEMPLATE_BINDINGS instead of TFF_NO_FUNCTION_ARGUMENTS when pretty printing a function scope. It appears this is the strictly better flag to use: it avoids the infinite recursion issue, it restores pretty printing of the function parameter list, and it stops dump_function_decl from trying to print a function template specialization in its own weird way. Summary of pretty printing differences for the below testcase: r10-7704: A<T>::f() [with U = char; T = int]::S1 B<T>::f() [with T = int]::S2 r10-7705: A<T>::f<char>::S1 B<T>::f<int>::S2 this patch: A<int>::f<char>()::S1 B<int>::f()::S2 gcc/cp/ChangeLog: PR c++/99213 PR c++/94521 * error.c (dump_scope): Pass TFF_NO_TEMPLATE_BINDINGS instead of TFF_NO_FUNCTION_ARGUMENTS when dumping a function scope. gcc/testsuite/ChangeLog: PR c++/99213 PR c++/94521 * g++.dg/diagnostic/local1.C: New test.

2020-04-28c++: Parameter pack in requires parameter list [PR94808]Patrick Palka1-12/+4
When printing the substituted parameter list of a requires-expression as part of the "in requirements with ..." context line during concepts diagnostics, we weren't considering that substitution into a parameter pack can yield zero or multiple parameters. This patch changes the way we print the parameter list of a requires-expression in print_requires_expression_info. We now print the dependent form of the parameter list (along with its template parameter mapping) instead of printing its substituted form. Besides being an improvement in its own, this also sidesteps the substitution issue in the PR altogether. gcc/cp/ChangeLog: PR c++/94808 * error.c (print_requires_expression_info): Print the dependent form of the parameter list with its template parameter mapping, rather than printing the substituted form. gcc/testsuite/ChangeLog: PR c++/94808 * g++.dg/concepts/diagnostic12.C: New test. * g++.dg/concepts/diagnostic5.C: Adjust dg-message.
2020-04-13c++: Infinite diagnostic loop with decltype([]{}) [PR94521]Patrick Palka1-0/+2
We are hitting a recursive loop when printing the signature of a function containing a decltype([]{}) type. The loop is dump_function_decl -> dump_substitution -> dump_template_bindings -> dump_type -> dump_aggr_type -> dump_scope -> dump_function_decl and we loop because dump_template_bindings wants to print the resolved type of decltype([]{}) (i.e. just a lambda type), so it calls dump_aggr_type, which wants to print the function scope of the lambda type. But the function scope of the lambda type is the function which we're in the middle of printing. This patch breaks the loop by passing TFF_NO_FUNCTION_ARGUMENTS to dump_function_decl from dump_scope, so that we avoid recursing into dump_substitution and ultimately looping. This also means we no longer emit the "[with ...]" clause when printing a function template scope, and we instead just emit its template argument list in a more natural way, e.g. instead of foo(int, char) [with T=bool]::x we would now print foo<bool>::x which seems like an improvement on its own. The full signature of the function 'spam' in the below testcase is now void spam(decltype (<lambda>)*) [with T = int; decltype (<lambda>) = spam<int>::<lambda()>] gcc/cp/ChangeLog: PR c++/94521 * error.c (dump_scope): Pass TFF_NO_FUNCTION_ARGUMENTS to dump_function_decl when printing a function template instantiation as a scope. gcc/testsuite/ChangeLog: PR c++/94521 * g++.dg/cpp2a/lambda-uneval12.C: New test.
2020-03-20c++: Include the constraint parameter mapping in diagnostic constraint contextsPatrick Palka1-25/+10

If substitution fails, then we instead just print the dependent form, as in the test case below: .../diagnostic6.C:14:15: error: static assertion failed 14 | static_assert(E<int>); // { dg-error "static assertion failed|not a class" } | ^~~~~~ .../diagnostic6.C:14:15: note: constraints not satisfied .../diagnostic6.C:4:11: required for the satisfaction of ‘C<T>’ .../diagnostic6.C:8:11: required for the satisfaction of ‘D<typename T::type>’ .../diagnostic6.C:14:15: error: ‘int’ is not a class, struct, or union type But printing just the dependent form sometimes makes it difficult to understand the underlying failure. In the above example, for instance, there's no indication of how the template argument 'int' relates to either of the 'T's. This patch improves the situation by changing these diagnostics to always print the dependent form of the constraint, and alongside it the (preferably substituted) constraint parameter mapping. So with the same test case below we now get: .../diagnostic6.C:14:15: error: static assertion failed 14 | static_assert(E<int>); // { dg-error "static assertion failed|not a class" } | ^~~~~~ .../diagnostic6.C:14:15: note: constraints not satisfied .../diagnostic6.C:4:11: required for the satisfaction of ‘C<T>’ [with T = typename T::type] .../diagnostic6.C:8:11: required for the satisfaction of ‘D<typename T::type>’ [with T = int] .../diagnostic6.C:14:15: error: ‘int’ is not a class, struct, or union type This change arguably makes it easier to figure out what's going on whenever a constraint fails due to substitution creating an invalid type rather than failing due to the constraint evaluating to false. gcc/cp/ChangeLog: * cxx-pretty-print.c (pp_cxx_parameter_mapping): Make extern. Move the "[with ]" bits to here from ... (pp_cxx_atomic_constraint): ... here. * cxx-pretty-print.h (pp_cxx_parameter_mapping): Declare. * error.c (rebuild_concept_check): Delete. 2020-02-10c++: Improve dump_decl for standard conceptsPatrick Palka1-10/+8
This patch improves the pretty printing of standard concept definitions in error messages. In particular, standard concepts are now printed qualified whenever appropriate, and the "concept" specifier is printed only when the TFF_DECL_SPECIFIERS flag is specified. In the below test, the first error message changes from 9:15: error: ‘b’ was not declared in this scope; did you mean ‘concept b’? to 9:15: error: ‘b’ was not declared in this scope; did you mean ‘a::b’? gcc/cp/ChangeLog: * error.c (dump_decl) [CONCEPT_DECL]: Use dump_simple_decl. (dump_simple_decl): Handle standard concept definitions as well as variable concept definitions. gcc/testsuite/ChangeLog: * g++.dg/cpp2a/concepts6.C: New test.
2020-02-10c++: Fux strncmp last argument in dump_decl_name [PR93641]Jakub Jelinek1-1/+1

2020-02-07c++: Fix use of local in constexpr if.Jason Merrill1-6/+0
extract_local_specs wasn't finding the mention of 'an' as a template argument because we weren't walking into template arguments. So here I changed cp_walk_subtrees to do so--only walking into template arguments in the spelling of the type or expression, not any hidden behind typedefs. The change to use typedef_variant_p avoids looking through typedefs spelled with 'typedef' as well as those spelled with 'using'. And then I removed some now-redundant code for walking into template arguments in a couple of walk_tree callbacks. PR c++/92654 * tree.c (cp_walk_subtrees): Walk into type template arguments. * cp-tree.h (TYPE_TEMPLATE_INFO_MAYBE_ALIAS): Use typedef_variant_p instead of TYPE_ALIAS_P. * pt.c (push_template_decl_real): Likewise. 2019-12-11Introduce pretty_printer::clone vfuncDavid Malcolm1-0/+5
This patch provides a way to clone a pretty_printer. This is needed so that we can capture text in a label_text and make layout decisions based on it, using the policy of global_dc's printer, whilst within a call to diagnostic_show_locus. We can't print with the pretty_printer itself within a call to diagnostic_show_locus since it has partly-buffered content. gcc/c-family/ChangeLog: * c-pretty-print.c (c_pretty_printer::clone): New vfunc implementation. * c-pretty-print.h (c_pretty_printer::clone): New vfunc decl. gcc/cp/ChangeLog: * cxx-pretty-print.c (cxx_pretty_printer::clone): New vfunc implementation. * cxx-pretty-print.h (cxx_pretty_printer::clone): New vfunc decl. * error.c (cxx_format_postprocessor::clone): New vfunc. gcc/ChangeLog: * pretty-print.c (pretty_printer::pretty_printer): New copy-ctor. 2019-12-10Replace label_text ctor with "borrow" and "take"David Malcolm1-2/+2
libcpp's label_text class wraps a text buffer, along with a flag to determine if it "owns" the buffer. The existing ctor exposed this directly, but I found it difficult to remember the sense of flag, so this patch hides the ctor, in favor of static member functions "borrow" and "take", to make the effect on ownership explicit in the name. gcc/c-family/ChangeLog: * c-format.c (range_label_for_format_type_mismatch::get_text): Replace label_text ctor called with true with label_text::take. gcc/c/ChangeLog: * c-objc-common.c (range_label_for_type_mismatch::get_text): Replace label_text ctor calls. gcc/cp/ChangeLog: * error.c (range_label_for_type_mismatch::get_text): Replace label_text ctor calls with label_text::borrow. gcc/ChangeLog: * gcc-rich-location.c (maybe_range_label_for_tree_type_mismatch::get_text): Replace label_text ctor call with label_text::borrow. * gcc-rich-location.h (text_range_label::get_text): Replace label_text ctor called with false with label_text::borrow. libcpp/ChangeLog: * include/line-map.h (label_text::label_text): Make private. 2019-11-27PR c++/92206 - ICE with typedef to dependent alias.Jason Merrill1-3/+3
rsandifo's patch for 92206 demonstrated a problem with the existing checking for alias template specializations: they were returning false for a typedef to an alias template specialization. Which is sometimes what the caller wants, and sometimes not: Sometimes we're interested in whether the type was written as an alias template-id, and sometimes whether it represents one. The testcase illustrates a case that remained wrong with the earlier patch: if the typedef is itself an alias template specialization, we can't strip an underlying dependent alias. * pt.c (dependent_alias_template_spec_p) (alias_template_specialization_p): Add transparent_typedefs parameter. 2019-11-05Implement C++20 operator<=>.Jason Merrill1-0/+1
There are three major pieces to this support: scalar operator<=>, synthesis of comparison operators, and rewritten/reversed overload resolution (e.g. a < b becomes 0 > b <=> a). Unlike other defaulted functions, where we use synthesized_method_walk to semi-simulate what the definition of the function will be like, this patch determines the characteristics of a comparison operator by trying to define it. My handling of non-dependent rewritten operators in templates can still use some work: build_min_non_dep_op_overload can't understand the rewrites and crashes, so I'm avoiding it for now by clearing *overload. This means we'll do name lookup again at instantiation time, which can incorrectly mean a different result. I'll poke at this more in stage 3. I'm leaving out a fourth section ("strong structural equality") even though I've implemented it, because it seems likely to change radically tomorrow. Thanks to Tim van Deurzen and Jakub for implementing lexing of the <=> operator, and Jonathan for the initial <compare> header. gcc/cp/ * cp-tree.h (struct lang_decl_fn): Add maybe_deleted bitfield.
