.ABNORMAL_DISPATCHER is currently the only internal function with
ECF_NORETURN, and asan likes to instrument ECF_NORETURN calls by adding
some builtin call before them, which breaks the .ABNORMAL_DISPATCHER
discovery added in gsi_safe_*.
The following patch fixes asan not to instrument .ABNORMAL_DISPATCHER
calls, like it doesn't instrument a couple of specific builtin calls
as well.

Your first patch aligned offsets[0] to maximum of alignb and
ASAN_RED_ZONE_SIZE. But as I wrote in the reply to that mail, alignb there
is the alignment of just a single variable which is the first one to appear
in the sorted list and is placed in the highest spot in the stack frame.
That is not necessarily the largest alignment, the sorting ensures that it
is a variable with the largest size in the frame (and only if several of
them have equal size, largest alignment from the same sized ones). Your
second patch used maximum of BIGGEST_ALIGNMENT / BITS_PER_UNIT and
ASAN_RED_ZONE_SIZE. That doesn't change anything at all when using
-mno-avx512f - offsets[0] is still just 32-byte aligned in that case
relative to top of frame, just changes the -mavx512f case to be 64-byte
aligned offsets[0] (aka offsets[0] is then either 0 or -64 instead of either
0 or -32). That will not help if any variable in the frame needs 128-byte,
256-byte, 512-byte ... 4096-byte alignment. If you want to fix the bug in
the spot you've touched, you'd need to walk all the
stack_vars[stack_vars_sorted[si2]] for si2 [si + 1, n - 1] and for those
where the loop would do anything (i.e.
stack_vars[i2].representative == i2
&& TREE_CODE (decl2) == SSA_NAME
? SA.partition_to_pseudo[var_to_partition (SA.map, decl2)] == NULL_RTX
: DECL_RTL (decl2) == pc_rtx
and the pred applies (but that means also walking the earlier ones!
because with -fstack-protector* the vars can be processed in several calls) and
alignb2 * BITS_PER_UNIT <= MAX_SUPPORTED_STACK_ALIGNMENT
and compute maximum of those alignments.
That maximum is already computed,
data->asan_alignb = MAX (data->asan_alignb, alignb);
computes that, but you get the final result only after you do all the
expand_stack_vars calls. You'd need to compute it before.
Though, that change would be still in the wrong place.
The thing is, it would be a waste of the precious stack space when it isn't
needed at all (e.g. when asan will not at compile time do the use after
return checking, or if it won't do it at runtime, or even if it will do at
runtime it will waste the space on the stack).
The following patch fixes it solely for the __asan_stack_malloc_N
allocations, doesn't enlarge unnecessarily further the actual stack frame.
Because asan is only supported on FRAME_GROWS_DOWNWARD architectures
(mips, rs6000 and xtensa are conditional FRAME_GROWS_DOWNWARD arches, which
for -fsanitize=address or -fstack-protector* use FRAME_GROWS_DOWNWARD 1,
otherwise 0, others supporting asan always just use 1), the assumption for
the dynamic stack realignment is that the top of the stack frame (aka offset
0) is aligned to alignb passed to the function (which is the maximum of alignb
of all the vars in the frame). As checked by the assertion in the patch,
offsets[0] is 0 most of the time and so that assumption is correct, the only
case when it is not 0 is if -fstack-protector* is on together with
-fsanitize=address and cfgexpand.cc (create_stack_guard) created a stack
guard. That is the only variable which is allocated in the stack frame
right away, for all others with -fsanitize=address defer_stack_allocation
(or -fstack-protector*) returns true and so they aren't allocated
immediately but handled during the frame layout phases. So, the original
frame_offset of 0 is changed because of the stack guard to
-pointer_size_in_bytes and later at the
if (data->asan_vec.is_empty ())
{

to -ASAN_RED_ZONE_SIZE. The asan_emit_stack_protection code wasn't
taking this into account though, so essentially assumed in the
__asan_stack_malloc_N allocated memory it needs to align it such that
pointer corresponding to offsets[0] is alignb aligned. But that isn't
correct if alignb > ASAN_RED_ZONE_SIZE, in that case it needs to ensure that
pointer corresponding to frame offset 0 is alignb aligned.
The following patch fixes that. Unlike the previous case where
we knew that asan_frame_size + base_align_bias falls into the same bucket
as asan_frame_size, this isn't in some cases true anymore, so the patch
recomputes which bucket to use and if going to bucket 11 (because there is
no __asan_stack_malloc_11 function in the library) disables the after return
sanitization.

the top of the stack into account when computing base_align_bias.
Recompute use_after_return_class from asan_frame_size + base_align_bias
and set to -1 if that would overflow to 11.

The following patch on top of the previously posted ubsan/gimple-iterator
one handles asan the same. While the case of returning by hidden reference
is handled differently because of the first recently posted asan patch,
this deals with instrumentation of the aggregates returned in registers
case as well as instrumentation of loads from aggregate memory in the
function arguments of returns_twice calls.

asan currently instruments since PR69276 r6-6758 fix calls which store
the return value into memory on the caller side, before the call it
verifies the memory is writable.
Now PR112709 where we ICE on trying to instrument such calls made me
think about whether that is what we want to do.
There are 3 different cases.
One is when a function returns an aggregate which is passed e.g. in
registers, say like struct S { int a[4]; }; returning on x86_64.
That would be ideally instrumented in between the actual call and
storing of the aggregate into memory, but asan currently mostly
works as a GIMPLE pass and arranging for the instrumentation to happen
at that spot would be really hard. We could diagnose after the call
but generally asan attempts to diagnose stuff before something is
overwritten rather than after, or keep the current behavior (that is
what this patch does, which has the disadvantage that it can complain
about UB even for functions which never return and so never actually store,
and doesn't check whether the memory wasn't e.g. poisoned during the call)
or could e.g. instrument both before and after the call (that would have
the disadvantage the current state has but at least would check post-factum
the store again afterwards).
Another case is when a function returns an aggregate through a hidden
reference, struct T { int a[128]; }; on x86_64 or even the above struct S
on ia32 as example. In the actual program such stores happen when storing
something to <retval> or its parts in the callee, because <retval> there
expands to *hidden_retval. So, IMHO we should instrument those in the
callee rather than caller, that is where the writes are and we can do that
easily. This is what the patch below does.
And the last case is for builtins/internal functions. Usually those don't
return aggregates, but in case they'd do and can be expanded inline, it is
better to instrument them in the caller (as before) rather than not
instrumenting the return stores at all.
I had to tweak the expected output on the PR69276 testcase, because
with the patch it keeps previous behavior on x86_64 (structure returned
in registers, stored in the caller, so reported as UB in A::A()),
while on i686 it changed the behavior and is reported as UB in the
vnull::operator vec which stores the structure, A::A() is then a frame
above it in the backtrace.

This patch makes the expansion of IFN_ASAN_MARK let through
poly-int-sized objects. The expansion itself was already generic
enough, but the tests for the fast path were too strict.

GCC can emit code between the function label and the .LASANPC label,
making the latter unaligned. Some architectures cannot load unaligned
labels directly and require literal pool entries, which is inefficient.
Move the invocation of asan_function_start to
ASM_OUTPUT_FUNCTION_LABEL, which guarantees that no additional code is
emitted. This allows setting the .LASANPC label alignment to the
respective function alignment.

As mentioned in the PR, when we use LTO, we wrongly use ltrans output
file name as a module name of a global variable. That leads to a
non-reproducible output.
After the suggested change, we emit context name of normal global
variables. And for artificial variables (like .Lubsan_data3), we use
aux_base_name (e.g. "./a.ltrans0.ltrans").

While in the -fsanitize=address case libasan overloads memcpy, memset,
memmove and many other builtins, such that they are always instrumented,
Linux kernel for -fsanitize=kernel-address recently changed or is changing,
such that memcpy, memset and memmove actually aren't instrumented because
they are often used also from no_sanitize ("kernel-address") functions
and wants __{,hw,}asaN_{memcpy,memset,memmove} to be used instead
for the instrumented calls. See e.g. the https://lkml.org/lkml/2023/2/9/1182
thread. Without appropriate support on the compiler side, that will mean
any time a kernel-address instrumented function (most of them) calls
memcpy/memset/memmove, they will not be instrumented and thus won't catch
kernel bugs. Apparently clang 15 has a param for this.
The following patch implements the same (except it is a usual GCC --param,
not -mllvm argument) on the GCC side. I know this isn't a regression
bugfix, but given that -fsanitize=kernel-address has a single project that
uses it which badly wants this I think it would be worthwhile to make an
exception and get this into GCC 13 rather than waiting another year, it
won't affect non-kernel code, nor even the kernel unless the new parameter
is used.

For PR106099 I've added IFN_TRAP as an alternative to __builtin_trap
meant for __builtin_unreachable purposes (e.g. with -funreachable-traps
or some sanitizers) which doesn't need vops because __builtin_unreachable
doesn't need them either. This works in various cases, but unfortunately
IPA likes to decide on the redirection to unreachable just by tweaking
the cgraph edge to point to a different FUNCTION_DECL. As internal
functions don't have a decl, this causes problems like in the following
testcase.
The following patch fixes it by removing IFN_TRAP again and replacing
it with user inaccessible BUILT_IN_UNREACHABLE_TRAP, so that e.g.
builtin_decl_unreachable can return it directly and we don't need to tweak
it later in wherever we actually replace the call stmt.

asan_emit_stack_protection and functions it calls have various asserts that
verify sanity of the stack protection instrumentation. But, that
verification can easily fail if we've diagnosed a frame offset overflow.
asan_emit_stack_protection just emits some extra code in the prologue,
if we've reported errors, we aren't producing assembly, so it doesn't
really matter if we don't include the protection code, compilation
is going to fail anyway.

It instruments the

assignment by adding

before it (which later lowers to checking the corresponding shadow
memory). But when considering instrumentation of
*c.3_5 = MEM[(struct a *)&b + 12B];
it doesn't instrument anything, because it sees that *c.3_5 store is
already instrumented in a dominating block and so there is no need
to instrument *c.3_5 store again (i.e. add another
.ASAN_CHECK (7, c.3_5, 4, 4);
). That is true, but misses the fact that we still want to
instrument the MEM[(struct a *)&b + 12B] load.
The following patch fixes that by changing has_stmt_been_instrumented_p
to consider both store and load in the assignment if it does both
(returning true iff both have been instrumented).
That matches how we handle e.g. builtin calls, where we also perform AND
of all the memory locs involved in the call.
I've verified that we still don't add the redundant
.ASAN_CHECK (7, c.3_5, 4, 4);
call but just add
_18 = &MEM[(struct a *)&b + 12B];
.ASAN_CHECK (6, _18, 4, 4);
to instrument the load.

The asan initializer registers __builtin_object_size for languages that
don't have it, e.g. Fortran. Register __builtin_dynamic_object_size too
(we need both because __builtin_dynamic_object_size computation may
involve generating __builtin_object_size as a fallback) so that
gfortran.dg/ubsan/bind-c-intent-out-2.f90 does not crash anymore.

On the following testcase, we have in main's frame 3 variables,
some red zone padding, 4 byte d, followed by 12 bytes of red zone padding, then
8 byte b followed by 24 bytes of red zone padding, then 40 bytes c followed
by some red zone padding.
The intended content of shadow memory for that is (note, each byte describes
8 bytes of memory):

The -fdump-rtl-expand-details dump makes it clear that it misbehaves:

In the end we end up with

shadow bytes because at offset -128 there are 2 overlapping stores
as asan_redzone_buffer::emit_redzone_byte has flushed the temporary 4 byte
buffer in the middle.
The function is called with an offset and value. If the passed offset is
consecutive with the prev_offset + buffer size (off == offset), then
we handle it correctly, similarly if the new offset is far enough from the
old one (we then flush whatever was in the buffer and if needed add up to 3
bytes of 00 before actually pushing value.
But what isn't handled correctly is when the offset isn't consecutive to
what has been added last time, but it is in the same 4 byte word of shadow
memory (32 bytes of actual memory), like the above case where
we have consecutive 04 f2 and then skip one shadow memory byte (aka 8 bytes
of real memory) and then want to emit f2. Emitting that as a store
of little-endian 0x0000f204 followed by a store of 0xf2000000 to the same
address doesn't work, we want to emit 0xf200f204.
The following patch does that by pushing 1 or 2 00 bytes.
Additionally, as a small cleanup, instead of using
m_shadow_bytes.safe_push (value);
flush_if_full ();
in all of if, else if and else bodies it sinks those 2 stmts to the end
of function as all do the same thing.

The problem is during expansion, <retval> isn't marked TREE_ADDRESSABLE,
even when we take its address in (unsigned long) &<retval>.x.
Now, instrument_derefs has code to avoid the instrumentation altogether
if we can prove the access is within bounds of an automatic variable in the
current function and the var isn't TREE_ADDRESSABLE (or we don't instrument
use after scope), but we do it solely for VAR_DECLs.
I think we should treat RESULT_DECLs exactly like that too, which is what
the following patch does. I must say I'm unsure about PARM_DECLs, those can
have different cases, either they are fully or partially passed in
registers, then if we take parameter's address, they are in a local copy
inside of a function and so work like those automatic vars. But if they
are fully passed in memory, we typically just take address of the slot
and in that case they live in the caller's frame. It is true we don't
(can't) put any asan padding in between the arguments, so all asan could
detect in that case is if caller passes fewer on stack arguments or smaller
arguments than callee accepts. Anyway, as I'm unsure, I haven't added
PARM_DECLs to that case.
And another thing is, when we actually build_fold_addr_expr, we need to
mark_addressable the inner if it isn't addressable already.

With -fstack-check* __builtin_alloca* can throw and the asan
instrumentation of this builtin wasn't prepared for that case.
The following patch fixes that by replacing the builtin with the
replacement builtin and emitting any further insns on the fallthru
edge.
I haven't touched the hwasan code which most likely suffers from the
same problem.
