Quite a lot of the code in common/relates to booting and images. Before adding more it seems like a good time to move the code into its own directory. Most files with 'boot' or 'image' in them are moved, except: - autoboot.c which relates to U-Boot automatically running a script - bootstage.c which relates to U-Boot timing Drop the removal of boot* files from the output directory, since this interfers with the symlinks created by tools and there does not appear to be any such file from my brief testing. Move this out of the common header and include it only where needed. In a number of cases this requires adding "struct udevice;" to avoid adding another large header or in other cases replacing / adding missing header files that had been pulled in, very indirectly. Finally, we have a few cases where we did not need to include <asm/global_data.h> at all, so remove that include. The Linux coding style guide (Documentation/process/coding-style.rst) clearly says: It's a **mistake** to use typedef for structures and pointers. Besides, using typedef for structures is annoying when you try to make headers self-contained. Let's say you have the following function declaration in a header: void foo(bd_t *bd); This is not self-contained since bd_t is not defined. To tell the compiler what 'bd_t' is, you need to include <asm/u-boot.h> #include <asm/u-boot.h> void foo(bd_t *bd); Then, the include direcective pulls in more bloat needlessly. If you use 'struct bd_info' instead, it is enough to put a forward declaration as follows: struct bd_info; void foo(struct bd_info *bd); Right, typedef'ing bd_t is a mistake. I used coccinelle to generate this commit. 2020-05-18command: Remove the cmd_tbl_t typedefSimon Glass1-23/+23
We should not use typedefs in U-Boot. They cannot be used as forward declarations which means that header files must include the full header to access them. These functions belong in cpu_func.h. Another option would be cache.h but that code uses driver model and we have not moved these cache functions to use driver model. 2018-05-07SPDX: Convert all of our single license tags to Linux Kernel styleTom Rini1-2/+1
When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line) and with slightly different comment styles than us. In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style. This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag contents. 2017-08-28bootvx_fdt: fix missing 'fdt_fixup_ethernet(...)' on vxWorks bootHannes Schmelzer1-0/+3
Before commit 26d6119 (fdt: Move fdt_fixup_ethernet to a common place) the fdt_fixup_ethernet(...) was called during do_bootvx_fdt(...). Afterwards the only (common) place for this fixup is during image_setup_libfdt(...) and this is only called, at least on ARM platform, from image_setup_linux(...). All this ends up in the fact, that the fdt_fixup_ethernet(...) is only called on booting a linux image and not on booting a vxWorks image. With 3f66149d9fb4 we no longer have a common call fdt_fixup_ethernet. This was fine to do on PowerPC as they largely had calls already in ft_cpu_fixup. On ARM however we largely relied on this call. Rather than introduce a large number of changes to ft_cpu_fixup / ft_board_fixup we recognize that this is a common enough call that we should be doing it in a central location. Do it early enough that we can do any further updates in ft_cpu_fixup / ft_board_fixup. 2016-07-14sandbox: Don't exit when bootm completesSimon Glass1-0/+1
At present sandbox exits when the 'bootm' command completes, since it is not actually able to run the OS that is loaded. Normally 'bootm' failure is considered a fatal error in U-Boot. However this is annoying for tests, which may want to examine the state after a test is complete. In any case there is a 'reset' command which can be used to exit, if required. Leave the command processing code where it is. Split out the OS-specific boot code into bootm_os.c. Split out the other code into bootm.c Header files and extern declarations are tidied but otherwise no code changes are made, to make it easier to review.
