This commit is the result of the following actions: - Running gdb/copyright.py to update all of the copyright headers to include 2024, - Manually updating a few files the copyright.py script told me to update, these files had copyright headers embedded within the file, - Regenerating gdbsupport/Makefile.in to refresh it's copyright date, - Using grep to find other files that still mentioned 2023. If these files were updated last year from 2022 to 2023 then I've updated them this year to 2024. I'm sure I've probably missed some dates. Feel free to fix them up as you spot them.

2020-06-12gdb/testsuite: Prevent globals leaking between test scriptsAndrew Burgess1-4/+4
Many of the test scripts create variables in the global namespace, these variables will then be present for the following test scripts. In most cases this is harmless, but in some cases this can cause problems. For example, if a variable is created as an array in one script, but then assigned as a scalar in a different script, this will cause a TCL error. The solution proposed in this patch is to have the GDB test harness record a list of all known global variables at the point just before we source the test script. Then, after the test script has run, we again iterate over all global variables. Any variable that was not in the original list is deleted, unless it was marked as a persistent global variable using gdb_persistent_global. The assumption here is that no test script should need to create a global variable that will outlive the lifetime of the test script itself. When running a pascal test with the stabs target board: ... $ test=gdb.pascal/case-insensitive-symbols.exp $ cd build/gdb/testsuite $ make check RUNTESTFLAGS="$test --target_board=stabs" ... we get: ... nr of untested testcases 1 nr of unsupported tests 1 ... due to: ... Error: Illegal parameter: -gstabs+^M Error: /usr/bin/ppcx64 returned an error exitcode^M ... OTOH, when running the same pascal test without the stabs target board: ... $ make check RUNTESTFLAGS="$test" ... we get: ... nr of expected passes 20 ... But when subsequently again running with the stabs target board: ... $ make check RUNTESTFLAGS="$test --target_board=stabs" ... we now get: ... nr of expected passes 20 ... The problem is that gdb_compile_pascal determines success based on existence of the exec after compilation: ... if ![file exists $destfile] { unsupported "Pascal compilation failed: $result" return "Pascal compilation failed." } ... without removing the exec before compilation, which allows a stale exec to make it seem as if compilation has succeeded. This commit applies all changes made after running the gdb/copyright.py script. Note that one file was flagged by the script, due to an invalid copyright header (gdb/unittests/basic_string_view/element_access/char/empty.cc). As the file was copied from GCC's libstdc++-v3 testsuite, this commit leaves this file untouched for the time being; a patch to fix the header was sent to gcc-patches first. gdb/ChangeLog: Update copyright year range in all GDB files.

Problem reported as PR pascal/17815 Part 1/3: Remember the case pattern that allowed finding a field of this. File gdb/p-exp.y modified This is the fix in the pascal parser (p-exp.y), to avoid the error that GDB does find normal variables case insensitively, but not fields of this, inside a class or object method. Part 2/3: Add "class" option for pascal compiler File gdb/testsuite/lib/pascal.exp This part of the patch series is unchanged. It adds class option to pascal compiler which adds the required command line option to accept pascal class types. Part 3/3: New file: gdb/testsuite/gdb.pascal/case-insensitive-symbols.exp New file: gdb/testsuite/gdb.pascal/case-insensitive-symbols.pas Here is an updated version of this test, using Pedro's suggestions. Test to check that PR 17815 is fixed.

The "dest" parameter to fpc_compile/gpc_compile is the name of compilation destination file, not a board name. This patch fixes this by using names consistent with lib/future.exp:gdb_default_target_compile. gdb/testsuite/ChangeLog: * lib/pascal.exp (gpc_compile): Rename dest arg to destfile. Fix dest parameter to board_info. (fpc_compile): Ditto. (gdb_compile_pascal): Rename dest arg to destfile.

2013-06-07Remove superfluous semicolons from testsuite throughout.Pedro Alves1-2/+2
A few months ago semicolons after "return" were removed throughout the testsuite. However, as I pointed out in review, they're unnecessary not just after "return", but pretty much after any tcl command. ';' is the command separator, and you only need it if there's another command on the same line afterwards. This patch was written by running: $ find . -name "*.exp" | xargs grep -l ";\s*$" | xargs sed -i 's/\([^#][^\s*;]*\)\s*;\s*$/\1/' and then undoing changes to comments, and lib/future.exp.
