2023-10-08system: Rename softmmu/ directory as system/Philippe Mathieu-Daudé1-36/+0
The softmmu/ directory contains files specific to system emulation. Rename it as system/. Update meson rules, the MAINTAINERS file and all the documentation and comments. 2023-10-04accel/tcg: Make icount.o a target agnostic unitPhilippe Mathieu-Daudé1-4/+0
Remove the unused "exec/exec-all.h" header. There is no more target specific code in it: make it target agnostic (rename using the '-common' suffix). Since it is TCG specific, move it to accel/tcg, updating MAINTAINERS. 2023-06-20meson: Replace softmmu_ss -> system_ssPhilippe Mathieu-Daudé1-4/+4
We use the user_ss[] array to hold the user emulation sources, and the softmmu_ss[] array to hold the system emulation ones. Hold the latter in the 'system_ss[]' array for parity with user emulation. Mechanical change doing: $ sed -i -e s/softmmu_ss/system_ss/g $(git grep -l softmmu_ss) Signed-off-by: Philippe Mathieu-Daudé <philmd@linaro.org> Reviewed-by: Richard Henderson <richard.henderson@linaro.org> Message-Id: <20230613133347.82210-10-philmd@linaro.org> Signed-off-by: Richard Henderson <richard.henderson@linaro.org>
2023-06-20meson: Replace CONFIG_SOFTMMU -> CONFIG_SYSTEM_ONLYPhilippe Mathieu-Daudé1-2/+2
Since we *might* have user emulation with softmmu, use the clearer 'CONFIG_SYSTEM_ONLY' key to check for system emulation. 2023-04-20softmmu: Move dirtylimit.c into the target independent source setThomas Huth1-1/+1
dirtylimit.c just uses one TARGET_PAGE_SIZE macro - change it to qemu_target_page_size() so we can move thefile into the target independent source set. Then we only have to compile this file once during the build instead of multiple times (one time for each target). 2023-04-20softmmu: Make qtest.c target independentThomas Huth1-1/+1
The code in this file is not performance critical, so we can use the target independent endianess functions to only compile this file once for all targets. 2023-03-28softmmu: Restore use of CPU watchpoint for all acceleratorsPhilippe Mathieu-Daudé1-1/+1
CPU watchpoints can be use by non-TCG accelerators. KVM uses them: $ git grep CPUWatchpoint|fgrep kvm target/arm/kvm64.c:1558: CPUWatchpoint *wp = find_hw_watchpoint(cs, debug_exit->far); target/i386/kvm/kvm.c:5216:static CPUWatchpoint hw_watchpoint; target/ppc/kvm.c:443:static CPUWatchpoint hw_watchpoint; target/s390x/kvm/kvm.c:139:static CPUWatchpoint hw_watchpoint; See for example commit e4482ab7e3 ("target-arm: kvm - add support for HW assisted debug"): This adds basic support for HW assisted debug. The ioctl interface to KVM allows us to pass an implementation defined number of break and watch point registers. [...] This partially reverts commit 2609ec2868e6c286e755a73b4504714a0296a. 2020-12-15qmp: generalize watchdog-set-action to -no-reboot/-no-shutdownAlejandro Jimenez1-0/+1
Add a QMP command to allow for the behaviors specified by the -no-reboot and -no-shutdown command line option to be set at runtime. The new command is named set-action and takes optional arguments, named after an event, that provide a corresponding action to take. 2020-10-12exec: split out non-softmmu-specific partsPaolo Bonzini1-1/+2
Over the years, most parts of exec.c that were not specific to softmmu have been moved to accel/tcg; what's left is mostly the low-level part of the memory API, which includes RAMBlock and AddressSpaceDispatch. However exec.c also hosts 4-500 lines of code for the target specific parts of the CPU QOM object, plus a few functions for user-mode emulation that do not have a better place (they are not TCG-specific so accel/tcg/user-exec.c is not a good place either). Move these parts to a new file, so that exec.c can be moved to softmmu/physmem.c. Signed-off-by: Paolo Bonzini <pbonzini@redhat.com>

2020-10-05cpu-timers, icount: new modulesClaudio Fontana1-2/+8
refactoring of cpus.c continues with cpu timer state extraction. cpu-timers: responsible for the softmmu cpu timers state, including cpu clocks and ticks. icount: counts the TCG instructions executed. As such it is specific to the TCG accelerator. Therefore, it is built only under CONFIG_TCG. One complication is due to qtest, which uses an icount field to warp time as part of qtest (qtest_clock_warp). In order to solve this problem, provide a separate counter for qtest. This requires fixing assumptions scattered in the code that qtest_enabled() implies icount_enabled(), checking each specific case.
