Some, but not all error messages are of the form Guest agent command failed, error was '<actual error message>' For instance, command guest-exec can fail with an error message like Guest agent command failed, error was 'Failed to execute child process “/bin/invalid-cmd42” (No such file or directory)' Shorten this to just just the actual error message. Since the commit 25b5ff1a86 ("qga: add mountpoint usage info to GuestFilesystemInfo") we have 2 values reported in guest-get-fsinfo: used = (f_blocks - f_bfree), total = (f_blocks - f_bfree + f_bavail) as returned by statvfs(3). While on Windows guests that's all we can get with GetDiskFreeSpaceExA(), on POSIX guests we might also be interested in total file system size, as it's visible for root user. Let's add an optional field 'total-bytes-privileged' to GuestFilesystemInfo struct, which'd only be reported on POSIX and represent f_blocks value as returned by statvfs(3). ga_get_win_name() iterates over all elements in the arrays by checking the 'version' field is non-NULL. 2023-05-04qga/commands-win32.c: Drop the check for _WIN32_WINNT >= 0x0601Thomas Huth1-2/+0
All current versions of glib require _WIN32_WINNT set to 0x0601 or higher already, and we also use this value as a minimum in our osdep.h header file, so there is no way to still compile this code with an older version of the Windows ABI. 2022-12-14qapi qga: Elide redundant has_FOO in generated CMarkus Armbruster1-33/+7
The has_FOO for pointer-valued FOO are redundant, except for arrays. They are also a nuisance to work with. Recent commit "qapi: Start to elide redundant has_FOO in generated C" provided the means to elide them step by step. This is the step for qga/qapi-schema.json. Said commit explains the transformation in more detail. The invariant violations mentioned there do not occur here. g_new(T, n) is neater than g_malloc(sizeof(T) * n). It's also safer, for two reasons. One, it catches multiplication overflowing size_t. Two, it returns T * rather than void *, which lets the compiler catch more type errors. This commit only touches allocations with size arguments of the form sizeof(T). 2022-01-10qga-win: Detect Windows 11 by build numberKostiantyn Kostiuk1-9/+14
Windows 10 and 11 have the same major and minor versions. So, the only way to determine the correct version is to use the build number. After this commit, the guest agent will return the proper "version" and "version-id" for Windows 11. The "pretty-name" is read from the registry and will be incorrect until the MS updates the registry. We only can create some workaround and replace 10 to 11. 2022-01-10qga-win: Detect OS based on Windows 10 by first build numberKostiantyn Kostiuk1-7/+11
Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022 are based on Windows 10 and have the same major and minor versions. So, the only way to detect the proper version is to use the build number. Before this commit, the guest agent use the last build number for each OS, but it causes problems when new OS releases. There are few preview versions before release, and we can't update this list. After this commit, the guest agent will use the first build number. For each new preview version or release version, Microsoft increases the build number, so we can add the number of the first preview build and this will work until the new OS release. The easiest spots to use QAPI_LIST_APPEND are where we already have an obvious pointer to the tail of a list. While at it, consistently use the variable name 'tail' for that purpose. Anywhere we create a list of just one item or by prepending items (typically because order doesn't matter), we can use QAPI_LIST_PREPEND(). But places where we must keep the list in order by appending remain open-coded until later patches. Note that as a side effect, this also performs a cleanup of two minor issues in qga/commands-posix.c: the old code was performing new = g_malloc0(sizeof(*ret)); which 1) is confusing because you have to verify whether 'new' and 'ret' are variables with the same type, and 2) would conflict with C++ compilation (not an actual problem for this file, but makes copy-and-paste harder). Add API and stubs for new guest-get-disks command. The command guest-get-fsinfo can be used to list information about disks and partitions but it is limited only to mounted disks with filesystem. This new command should allow listing information about disks of the VM regardles whether they are mounted or not. This can be usefull for management applications for mapping virtualized devices or pass-through devices to device names in the guest OS. Simple unions are simpler than flat unions in the schema, but more complicated in C and on the QMP wire: there's extra indirection in C and extra nesting on the wire, both pointless. They should be avoided in new code. GuestDeviceId was recently added for guest-get-devices. Convert it to a flat union. 2020-11-02qga-win: Fix guest-get-devices error API violationsMarkus Armbruster1-3/+2
The Error ** argument must be NULL, &error_abort, &error_fatal, or a pointer to a variable containing NULL. Passing an argument of the latter kind twice without clearing it in between is wrong: if the first call sets an error, it no longer points to NULL for the second call. qmp_guest_get_devices() is wrong that way: it calls error_setg() in a loop. If no iteration fails, the function returns a value and sets no error. Okay. If exactly one iteration fails, the function returns a value and sets an error. Wrong. If multiple iterations fail, the function trips error_setv()'s assertion. Fix it to return immediately on error. Perhaps the failure to convert the driver version to UTF-8 should not be an error. We could simply not report the botched version string instead. Drop a superfluous continue while there. We should avoid use of multiple encodings for the same kind of data. Especially string encodings. Change it to return nanoseconds since the epoch, like guest-get-time does.
