2016-10-07qmp: Disable query-cpu-* commands when they're unavailableEduardo Habkost1-0/+9
Instead of requiring clients to actually call the query-cpu-* commands to find out if they are implemented, remove them from the output of "query-commands", so clients know they are not available. This is implemented by extending the existing hack at qmp_unregister_commands_hack(). I wish I could avoid adding even more #ifdefs to that code, but that's the solution we have today. 2016-09-23monitor: fix crash for platforms without a CPU 0David Gibson1-1/+1
Now that we allow CPU hot unplug on a few platforms, we can end up in a situation where we don't have a CPU with index 0. Or at least we could, if we didn't have code to explicitly prohibit unplug of CPU 0. Longer term we want to allow CPU 0 unplug, this patch is an early step in allowing this, by removing an assumption in the monitor code that CPU 0 always exists. 2016-09-19qmp: Hack to keep commands configuration-specificMarc-André Lureau1-0/+35
We currently define QMP commands in two places: the QAPI schema and qmp-commands.hx. The latter is preprocessed, the former is not. We use the preprocessor to suppress configuration-specific commands. For instance, query-spice is only available #ifdef CONFIG_SPICE. QMP command dispatch and query-commands use the qmp-commands.hx definition, and thus obey the #ifdeffery there. Good, because it lets QMP clients probe for available features more easily. query-qmp-schema uses the QAPI schema, and thus lists the configuration-specific commands even when they're unavailable. Not so good. We're about to flip command dispatch and query-commands to the non-middle-mode command registry, which uses the QAPI schema, so we can ditch qmp-commands.hx. To avoid regressing query-commands, arrange for commands that are suppressed with the preprocessor now to be unregistered with that registry. This will keep them unavailable and out of query-commands when we flip command dispatch and query-commands to that registry, exactly as before. This is a hack. The proper solution is to support configuration-specific commands in the QAPI schema. Mark it FIXME. 2016-07-19qapi: Change Netdev into a flat unionEric Blake1-7/+7
This is a mostly-mechanical conversion that creates a new flat union 'Netdev' QAPI type that covers all the branches of the former 'NetClientOptions' simple union, where the branches are now listed in a new 'NetClientDriver' enum rather than generated from the simple union. The existence of a flat union has no change to the command line syntax accepted for new code, and will make it possible for a future patch to switch the QMP command to parse a boxed union for no change to valid QMP; but it does have some ripple effect on the C code when dealing with the new types. While making the conversion, note that the 'NetLegacy' type remains unchanged: it applies only to legacy command line options, and will not be ported to QMP, so it should remain a wrapper around a simple union; to avoid confusion, the type named 'NetClientOptions' is now gone, and we introduce 'NetLegacyOptions' in its place. Then, in the C code, we convert from NetLegacy to Netdev as soon as possible, so that the bulk of the net stack only has to deal with one QAPI type, not two. Note that since the old legacy code always rejected 'hubport', we can just omit that branch from the new 'NetLegacyOptions' simple union. 2016-06-20log: Fix qemu_set_log_filename() error handlingMarkus Armbruster1-1/+6
When qemu_set_log_filename() detects an invalid file name, it reports an error, closes the log file (if any), and starts logging to stderr (unless daemonized or nothing is being logged). This is wrong. Asking for an invalid log file on the command line should be fatal. Asking for one in the monitor should fail without messing up an existing logfile. Fix by converting qemu_set_log_filename() to Error. Pass it &error_fatal, except for hmp_logfile report errors. This also permits testing without a subprocess, so do that. It will allow mgmt to query present and hotpluggable CPU objects, it is required from a target platform that wishes to support command to implement and set MachineClass.query_hotpluggable_cpus callback, which will return a list of possible CPU objects with options that would be needed for hotplugging possible CPU objects. There are: 'type': 'str' - QOM CPU object type for usage with device_add 'vcpus-count': 'int' - number of logical VCPU threads per CPU object (mgmt needs to know) and a set of optional fields that are to used for hotplugging a CPU objects and would allows mgmt tools to know what/where it could be hotplugged; [node],[socket],[core],[thread] For present CPUs there is a 'qom-path' field which would allow mgmt to inspect whatever object/abstraction the target platform considers as CPU object. 2016-05-25block: Fix bdrv_next() memory leakKevin Wolf1-2/+2
The bdrv_next() users all leaked the BdrvNextIterator after completing the iteration. Simply changing bdrv_next() to free the iterator before returning NULL at the end of list doesn't work because some callers exit the loop before looking at all BDSes. This patch moves the BdrvNextIterator from the heap to the stack of the caller and switches to a bdrv_first()/bdrv_next() interface for initialising the iterator. 2016-03-30arm: qmp: add query-gic-capabilities interfacePeter Xu1-0/+8
This patch add "query-gic-capabilities" but does not implement it. The command is ARM-only. The command will return a list of GICCapability structs that describes all GIC versions that current QEMU and system support. Libvirt is possibly the first consumer of this new command. Before this patch, a libvirt user can successfully configure all kinds of GIC devices for ARM guests, no matter whether current QEMU/kernel supports them. If the specified GIC version/type is not supported, the user will get an ambiguous "QEMU boot failure" error when trying to start the VM. This is not user-friendly. With this patch, libvirt should be able to query which type (and which version) of GIC device is supported. Using this information, libvirt can warn the user during configuration of guests when specified GIC device type is not supported. Or better, we can just list those versions that we support, and filter out the unsupported ones. For example, if we got the query result: {"return": [{"emulated": false, "version": 3, "kernel": true}, {"emulated": true, "version": 2, "kernel": false}]} then it means that we support emulated GIC version 2 using: qemu-system-aarch64 -M virt,accel=tcg,gic-version=2 ... or KVM-accelerated GIC version 3 using: qemu-system-aarch64 -M virt,accel=kvm,gic-version=3 ... If we specify other explicit GIC versions rather than the above, QEMU will not be able to boot. The community is working on a more generic way to query these kinds of information about valid values of machine properties. The QUORUM_REPORT_BAD event is emitted whenever there's an I/O error in a child of a Quorum device. This event is emitted at a maximum rate of 1 per second. This means that an error in one of the children will mask errors in the other children if they happen within the same 1 second interval. Both error_report_err() and monitor_printf() print to the same destination when monitor_printf() is used correctly, i.e. within an HMP monitor. Elsewhere, monitor_printf() does nothing, while error_report_err() reports to stderr. Most changed functions are HMP command handlers. These should only run within an HMP monitor. The one exception is bdrv_password_cb(), which should also only run within an HMP monitor. Four command handlers prefix the error message with the command name: balloon, migrate_set_capability, migrate_set_parameter, migrate. Pointless, drop. Unlike monitor_printf(), error_report_err() uses the error whole instead of just its message obtained with error_get_pretty(). This avoids suppressing its hint (see commit 50b7b00). 2015-12-17qapi: Change munging of CamelCase enum valuesEric Blake1-1/+1
When munging enum values, the fact that we were passing the entire prefix + value through camel_to_upper() meant that enum values spelled with CamelCase could be turned into CAMEL_CASE. However, this provides a potential collision (both OneTwo and One-Two would munge into ONE_TWO) for enum types, when the same two names are valid side-by-side as QAPI member names. By changing the generation of enum constants to always be prefix + '_' + c_name(value, False).upper(), and ensuring that there are no case collisions (in the next patches), we no longer have to worry about names that would be distinct as QAPI members but collide as variant tag names, without having to think about what munging the heuristics in camel_to_upper() will actually perform on an enum value. Making the change will affect enums that did not follow coding conventions, using 'CamelCase' rather than desired 'lower-case'. Thankfully, there are only two culprits: InputButton and ErrorClass. We already tweaked ErrorClass to make it an alias of QapiErrorClass, where only the alias needs changing rather than the whole tree. So the bulk of this change is modifying INPUT_BUTTON_WHEEL_UP to the new INPUT_BUTTON_WHEELUP (and likewise for WHEELDOWN). That part of this commit may later need reverting if we rename the enum constants from 'WheelUp' to 'wheel-up' as part of moving x-input-send-event to a stable interface; but at least we have documentation bread crumbs in place to remind us (commit 513e7cd), and it matches the fact that SDL constants are also spelled SDL_BUTTON_WHEELUP. The qapi enum ErrorClass is unusual that it uses 'CamelCase' names, contrary to our documented convention of preferring 'lower-case'. However, this enum is entrenched in the API; we cannot change what strings QMP outputs. Meanwhile, we want to simplify how c_enum_const() is used to generate enum constants, by moving away from the heuristics of camel_to_upper() to a more straightforward c_name(N).upper() - but doing so will rename all of the ErrorClass constants and cause churn to all client files, where the new names are aesthetically less pleasing (ERROR_CLASS_DEVICENOTFOUND looks like we can't make up our minds on whether to break between words). So as always in computer science, solve the problem by some more indirection: rename the qapi type to QapiErrorClass, and add a new enum ErrorClass in error.h whose members are aliases of the qapi type, but with the spelling expected elsewhere in the tree. Then, when c_enum_const() changes the munging, we only have to adjust the one alias spot. 2015-11-12monitor/target-ppc: Define target_get_monitor_defAlexey Kardashevskiy1-1/+9
At the moment get_monitor_def() returns only registers from statically defined monitor_defs array. However there is a lot of BOOK3S SPRs which are not in the list and cannot be printed from the monitor. This adds a new target platform hook - target_get_monitor_def(). The hook is called if a register was not found in the static array returned by the target_monitor_defs() hook. The hook is only defined for POWERPC, it returns registered SPRs and fails on unregistered ones providing the user with information on what is actually supported on the running CPU. The register value is saved as uint64_t as it is the biggest supported register size; target_ulong cannot be used because of the stub - it is in a "common" code and cannot include "cpu.h", etc; this is also why the hook prototype is redefined in the stub instead of being included from some header. This replaces static descriptors for GPRs, FPRs, SRs with a helper which looks for a value in a corresponding array in the CPUPPCState. The immediate effect is that all 32 SRs can be printed now (instead of 16); later this can be reused for VSX or TM registers. This replaces callbacks for MSR and XER with static descriptors in monitor_defs as they are stored in CPUPPCState. While we are here, this adds "cr" as a synonym of "ccr".
