hw/core/cpu.h is already using struct forward declarations in some cases to avoid inclusions, and otherwise CPUAddressSpace and CPUJumpCache are only used together with their definition. 2024-05-03monitor: remove MonitorDef from typedefs.hPaolo Bonzini1-1/+0
MonitorDef is defined by hmp-target.h, and all users except one already include it; the reason why the stubs do not include it, is because hmp-target.h currently can only be used in files that are compiled per target. However, that is easily fixed. Because the benefit of having MonitorDef in typedefs.h is very small, do it and remove the type from typedefs.h. 2024-05-03lockable: remove QemuLockable from typedefs.hPaolo Bonzini3-5/+4
Using QemuLockable almost always requires going through QEMU_MAKE_LOCKABLE(). Therefore, there is little point in having the typedef always present. Move it to lockable.h, with only a small adjustment to coroutine.h (which has a tricky co-dependency with lockable.h due to defining CoMutex *and* using QemuLockable as a part of the CoQueue API). 2024-05-03bitmap: Use g_try_new0/g_new0/g_renewPaolo Bonzini1-11/+8
Avoids an explicit use of sizeof(). The GLib allocation macros ensure that the multiplication by the size of the element uses the right type and does not overflow. While at it, change bitmap_new() to use g_new0 directly. Its current impl of calling bitmap_try_new() followed by a plain abort() has worse diagnostics than g_new0, which uses g_error to report the actual allocation size that failed. 2024-03-18mirror: Don't call job_pause_point() under graph lockKevin Wolf1-1/+1
Calling job_pause_point() while holding the graph reader lock potentially results in a deadlock: bdrv_graph_wrlock() first drains everything, including the mirror job, which pauses it. The job is only unpaused at the end of the drain section, which is when the graph writer lock has been successfully taken. However, if the job happens to be paused at a pause point where it still holds the reader lock, the writer lock can't be taken as long as the job is still paused. Mark job_pause_point() as GRAPH_UNLOCKED and fix mirror accordingly. Additionally to the scoreboard, we define a qemu_plugin_u64, which is a simple struct holding a pointer to a scoreboard, and a given offset. This allows to have a scoreboard containing structs, without having to bring offset to operate on a specific field. Since most of the plugins are simply collecting a sum of per-cpu values, qemu_plugin_u64 directly support this operation as well. All inline operations defined later will use a qemu_plugin_u64 as input. We introduce a cpu local storage, automatically managed (and extended) by QEMU itself. Plugin allocate a scoreboard, and don't have to deal with how many cpus are launched. This API will be used by new inline functions but callbacks can benefit from this as well. This way, they can operate without a global lock for simple operations. At any point during execution, any scoreboard will be dimensioned with at least qemu_plugin_num_vcpus entries. 2024-03-01migration/multifd: Support outgoing mapped-ram stream formatFabiano Rosas1-0/+13
The new mapped-ram stream format uses a file transport and puts ram pages in the migration file at their respective offsets and can be done in parallel by using the pwritev system call which takes iovecs and an offset. Add support to enabling the new format along with multifd to make use of the threading and page handling already in place. This requires multifd to stop sending headers and leaving the stream format to the mapped-ram code. When it comes time to write the data, we need to call a version of qio_channel_write that can take an offset. 2024-02-28plugins: add an API to read registersAlex Bennée1-2/+48
We can only request a list of registers once the vCPU has been initialised so the user needs to use either call the get function on vCPU initialisation or during the translation phase. We don't expose the reg number to the plugin instead hiding it behind an opaque handle. For now this is just the gdb_regnum encapsulated in an anonymous GPOINTER but in future as we add more state for plugins to track we can expand it. 2024-02-14chardev/parallel: Don't close stdin on inappropriate deviceMarkus Armbruster1-1/+8
The __linux__ version of qemu_chr_open_pp_fd() tries to claim the parport device with a PPCLAIM ioctl(). On success, it stores the file descriptor in the chardev object, and returns success. On failure, it closes the file descriptor, and returns failure. chardev_new() then passes the Chardev to object_unref(). This duly calls char_parallel_finalize(), which closes the file descriptor stored in the chardev object. Since qemu_chr_open_pp_fd() didn't store it, it's still zero, so this closes standard input. Ooopsie. To demonstate, add a unit test. With the bug above unfixed, running this test closes standard input. char_hotswap_test() happens to run next. It opens a socket, duly gets file descriptor 0, and since it tests for success with > 0 instead of >= 0, it fails. The new unit test needs to be conditional exactly like the chardev it tests. Since the condition is rather complicated, steal the solution from the serial chardev: define HAVE_CHARDEV_PARALLEL in qemu/osdep.h. This also permits simplifying chardev/meson.build a bit. The bug fix is easy enough: store the file descriptor, and leave closing it to char_parallel_finalize(). The next commit will fix char_hotswap_test()'s test for success. QEMU initializes preallocated backend memory as the objects are parsed from the command line. This is not optimal in some cases (e.g. memory spanning multiple NUMA nodes) because the memory objects are initialized in series. Allow the initialization to occur in parallel (asynchronously). In order to ensure optimal thread placement, asynchronous initialization requires prealloc context threads to be in use. The const_le64() macro introduced in commit 845d80a8c7b187 turns out to have a bug which means that on big-endian systems the compiler complains if the argument isn't already a 64-bit type. This hasn't caused a problem yet, because there are no in-tree uses, but it means it's not possible for anybody to add one without it failing CI.
