2016-11-01log: Add locking to large logging blocksRichard Henderson1-0/+16
Reuse the existing locking provided by stdio to keep in_asm, cpu, op, op_opt, op_ind, and out_asm as contiguous blocks. While it isn't possible to interleave e.g. in_asm or op_opt logs because of the TB lock protecting all code generation, it is possible to interleave cpu logs, or to interleave a cpu dump with an out_asm dump. For mingw32, we appear to have no viable solution for this. The locking functions are not properly exported from the system runtime library. 2016-08-05tcg: Lower indirect registers in a separate passRichard Henderson1-0/+1
Rather than rely on recursion during the middle of register allocation, lower indirect registers to loads and stores off the indirect base into plain temps. For an x86_64 host, with sufficient registers, this results in identical code, modulo the actual register assignments. For an i686 host, with insufficient registers, this means that temps can be (temporarily) spilled to the stack in order to satisfy an allocation. This as opposed to the possibility of not being able to spill, to allocate a register for the indirect base, in order to perform a spill. 2016-06-20log: Fix qemu_set_log_filename() error handlingMarkus Armbruster1-1/+1
When qemu_set_log_filename() detects an invalid file name, it reports an error, closes the log file (if any), and starts logging to stderr (unless daemonized or nothing is being logged). This is wrong. Asking for an invalid log file on the command line should be fatal. Asking for one in the monitor should fail without messing up an existing logfile. Fix by converting qemu_set_log_filename() to Error. Pass it &error_fatal, except for hmp_logfile report errors. This also permits testing without a subprocess, so do that. 2016-03-22qemu-log: new option -dfilter to limit outputAlex Bennée1-0/+2
When debugging big programs or system emulation sometimes you want both the verbosity of cpu, exec et all but don't want to generate lots of logs for unneeded stuff. This patch adds a new option -dfilter which allows you to specify interesting address ranges in the form: -dfilter 0x8000..0x8fff,0xffffffc000080000+0x200,... Then logging code can use the new qemu_log_in_addr_range() function to decide if it will output logging information for the given range. 2014-12-16qemu-log: add log category for MMU infoAntony Pavlov1-0/+1
Running barebox on qemu-system-mips* with '-d unimp' overloads stderr by very very many mips_cpu_handle_mmu_fault() messages: mips_cpu_handle_mmu_fault address=b80003fd ret 0 physical 00000000180003fd prot 3 mips_cpu_handle_mmu_fault address=a0800884 ret 0 physical 0000000000800884 prot 3 mips_cpu_handle_mmu_fault pc a080cd80 ad b80003fd rw 0 mmu_idx 0 So it's very difficult to find LOG_UNIMP message. The mips_cpu_handle_mmu_fault() messages appear on enabling ANY logging! It's not very handy. Adding separate log category for *_cpu_handle_mmu_fault() logging fixes the problem. 2013-07-09log: Change log_cpu_state[_mask]() argument to CPUStateAndreas Färber1-5/+21
Since commit 878096eeb278a8ac1ccd6667af73e026f29b4cf5 (cpu: Turn cpu_dump_{state,statistics}() into CPUState hooks) CPUArchState is no longer needed. Add documentation and make the functions available through qemu/log.h outside NEED_CPU_H to allow use in qom/cpu.c. Moving them to qom/cpu.h was not yet possible due to convoluted include paths, so that some devices grow an implicit and unneeded dependency on qom/cpu.h for now. 2013-02-26qemu-log: default to stderr for logging outputPeter Maydell1-2/+6
Switch the default for qemu_log logging output from "/tmp/qemu.log" to stderr. This is an incompatible change in some sense, but logging is mostly used for debugging purposes so it shouldn't affect production use. The previous behaviour can be obtained by adding "-D /tmp/qemu.log" to the command line. This change requires us to: * update all the documentation/help text (we take the opportunity to smooth out minor inconsistencies between the phrasing in linux-user/bsd-user/system help messages) * make linux-user and bsd-user defer to qemu-log for the default logging destination rather than overriding it themselves * ensure that all logfile closing is done via qemu_log_close() and that that function doesn't close stderr as well as the obvious change to the behaviour of do_qemu_set_log() when no logfile name has been specified. 2013-02-23qemu-log: Remove qemu_log_try_set_file() and its usersPeter Maydell1-8/+0
Remove the function qemu_log_try_set_file() and its users (which are all in TCG code generation functions for various targets). This function was added to abstract out code which was originally written as "if (!logfile) logfile = stderr;" in order that BUG: case code which did an unguarded "fprintf(logfile, ...)" would not crash if debug logging was not enabled. Since those direct uses of logfile have also been abstracted away into qemu_log() calls which check for a NULL logfile, there is no need for the target-* files to mess with the user's chosen logging settings.
