2012-06-18qdev: Connect busses with their parent devicesAnthony Liguori1-0/+3
This makes SysBus part of the root hierarchy and all busses children of their respective parent DeviceState. Signed-off-by: Anthony Liguori <aliguori@us.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Paolo Bonzini <pbonzini@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de>
2012-06-18qdev: Convert busses to QEMU Object ModelAnthony Liguori1-9/+18
This is far less interesting than it sounds. We simply add an Object to each BusState and then register the types appropriately. Most of the interesting refactoring will follow in the next patches. Since we're changing fundamental type names (BusInfo -> BusClass), it all needs to convert at once. Fortunately, not a lot of code is affected. 2012-06-18qdev: Move SysBus initialization to sysbus.cPaolo Bonzini1-0/+21
TYPE_SYSTEM_BUS will be local to hw/sysbus.c, so move existing references to main_system_bus and system_bus_info there. Signed-off-by: Paolo Bonzini <pbonzini@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de>
2012-02-15qom: Unify type registrationAndreas Färber1-2/+2
Replace device_init() with generalized type_init(). While at it, unify naming convention: type_init([$prefix_]register_types) Also, type_init() is a function, so add preceding blank line where necessary and don't put a semicolon after the closing brace. 2012-02-03qdev: kill off DeviceInfoAnthony Liguori1-1/+1
It is no longer used in the tree since everything is done natively through QEMU Object Model. Signed-off-by: Anthony Liguori <aliguori@us.ibm.com>
2012-02-03qdev: register all types natively through QEMU Object ModelAnthony Liguori1-14/+8
This was done in a mostly automated fashion. I did it in three steps and then rebased it into a single step which avoids repeatedly touching every file in the tree. The first step was a sed-based addition of the parent type to the subclass registration functions. The second step was another sed-based removal of subclass registration functions while also adding virtual functions from the base class into a class_init function as appropriate. Finally, a python script was used to convert the DeviceInfo structures and qdev_register_subclass functions to TypeInfo structures, class_init functions, and type_register_static calls. We are almost fully converted to QOM after this commit. Signed-off-by: Anthony Liguori <aliguori@us.ibm.com>
2012-01-27sysbus: apic: ioapic: convert to QEMU Object ModelAnthony Liguori1-15/+25
This converts three devices because apic and ioapic are subclasses of sysbus. Converting subclasses independently of their base class is prohibitively hard. Signed-off-by: Anthony Liguori <aliguori@us.ibm.com>

2011-08-28hw/sysbus: Add sysbus_mmio_get_region()Peter Maydell1-0/+5
Add a sysbus_mmio_get_region() which allows users of sysbus devices to turn a (SysBusDevice*, mmioidx) tuple into a MemoryRegion*. This enables some useful simplifications of devices which pass through another device's mmio region (either directly or by implementing some kind of memory controller device). 2011-08-22sysbus: remove sysbus_init_mmio_cb()Avi Kivity1-12/+0
This problem with this function is that it is not reversible - it is impossible to know where things are registered and unregister them exactly. As there are no more users, we can remove it. Signed-off-by: Avi Kivity <avi@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Anthony Liguori <aliguori@us.ibm.com>
2011-08-22sysbus: add a variant of sysbus_init_mmio_cb with an unmap callbackAvi Kivity1-0/+15
sysbus_init_mmio_cb() uses the destructive IO_MEM_UNASSIGNED to remove a region. Provide an alternative that calls an unmap callback, so the removal may be done non-destructively. Signed-off-by: Avi Kivity <avi@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Anthony Liguori <aliguori@us.ibm.com>

2009-10-07New qdev_init_nofail()Markus Armbruster1-1/+1
Like qdev_init(), but terminate program via hw_error() instead of returning an error value. Use it instead of qdev_init() where terminating the program on failure is okay, either because it's during machine construction, or because we know that failure can't happen. Because relying in the latter is somewhat unclean, and the former is not always obvious, it would be nice to go back to qdev_init() in the not-so-obvious cases, only with proper error handling. I'm leaving that for another day, because it involves making sure that error values are properly checked by all callers. 2009-10-01Revert "Get rid of _t suffix"Anthony Liguori1-6/+6
In the very least, a change like this requires discussion on the list. The naming convention is goofy and it causes a massive merge problem. Something like this _must_ be presented on the list first so people can provide input and cope with it. This reverts commit 99a0949b720a0936da2052cb9a46db04ffc6db29. 2009-08-27qdev: add return value to init() callbacks.Gerd Hoffmann1-2/+2
Sorry folks, but it has to be. One more of these invasive qdev patches. We have a serious design bug in the qdev interface: device init callbacks can't signal failure because the init() callback has no return value. This patch fixes it. We have already one case in-tree where this is needed: Try -device virtio-blk-pci (without drive= specified) and watch qemu segfault. This patch fixes it. With usb+scsi being converted to qdev we'll get more devices where the init callback can fail for various reasons. 2009-07-09qdev: replace bus_type enum with bus_info struct.Gerd Hoffmann1-2/+10
BusInfo is filled with name and size (pretty much like I did for DeviceInfo as well). There is also a function pointer to print bus-specific device information to the monitor. sysbus is hooked up there, I've also added a print function for PCI. Device creation is slightly modified as well: The device type search loop now also checks the bus type while scanning the list instead of complaining thereafter in case of a mismatch. This effectively gives each bus a private namespace for device names. Signed-off-by: Gerd Hoffmann <kraxel@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Paul Brook <paul@codesourcery.com>

2009-05-23Add common BusStatePaul Brook1-4/+16
Implement and use a common device bus state. The main side-effect is that creating a bus and attaching it to a parent device are no longer separate operations.
