2021-02-20hw/sd: ssi-sd: Fix STOP_TRANSMISSION (CMD12) responseBin Meng1-4/+5
CMD12's response type is R1b, which is basically a R1 plus optional addition of the busy signal token that can be any number of bytes. A zero value indicates card is busy and a non-zero value indicates the card is ready for the next command. Current implementation sends the busy signal token without sending the R1 first. This does not break the U-Boot/Linux mmc_spi driver, but it does not make the VxWorks driver happy. Move the testing logic of s->stopping in the SSI_SD_RESPONSE state a bit later, after the first byte of the card reponse is sent out, to conform with the spec. After the busy signal token is sent, the state should be transferred to SSI_SD_CMD. 2021-02-20hw/sd: ssi-sd: Support multiple block writeBin Meng1-2/+31
For a multiple block write operation, each block begins with a multi write start token. Unlike the SD mode that the multiple block write ends when receiving a STOP_TRAN command (CMD12), a special stop tran token is used to signal the card. Emulating this by manually sending a CMD12 to the SD card core, to bring it out of the receiving data state. 2021-01-24hw/sd: ssi-sd: Add a state representing NacBin Meng1-2/+7
Per the "Physical Layer Specification Version 8.00" chapter 7.5.2, "Data Read", there is a minimum 8 clock cycles (Nac) after the card response and before data block shows up on the data out line. This applies to both single and multiple block read operations. Current implementation of single block read already satisfies the timing requirement as in the RESPONSE state after all responses are transferred the state remains unchanged. In the next 8 clock cycles it jumps to DATA_START state if data is ready. However we need an explicit state when expanding our support to multiple block read in the future. Let's add a new state PREP_DATA explicitly in the ssi-sd state machine to represent Nac. Note we don't change the single block read state machine to let it jump from RESPONSE state to DATA_START state as that effectively generates a 16 clock cycles Nac, which might not be safe. As the spec says the maximum Nac shall be calculated from several fields encoded in the CSD register, we don't want to bother updating CSD to ensure our Nac is within range to complicate things. 2021-01-24hw/sd: ssi-sd: Suffix a data block with CRC16Bin Meng1-3/+20
Per the SD spec, a valid data block is suffixed with a 16-bit CRC generated by the standard CCITT polynomial x16+x12+x5+1. This part is currently missing in the ssi-sd state machine. Without it, all data block transfer fails in guest software because the expected CRC16 is missing on the data out line. However current implementation jumps directly to the sending response state after all 6 bytes command is received, which is a spec violation. If we want to check error after errp-function call, we need to introduce local_err and then propagate it to errp. Instead, use the ERRP_GUARD() macro, benefits are: 1. No need of explicit error_propagate call 2. No need of explicit local_err variable: use errp directly 3. ERRP_GUARD() leaves errp as is if it's not NULL or &error_fatal, this means that we don't break error_abort (we'll abort on error_set, not on error_propagate) If we want to add some info to errp (by error_prepend() or error_append_hint()), we must use the ERRP_GUARD() macro. Otherwise, this info will not be added when errp == &error_fatal (the program will exit prior to the error_append_hint() or error_prepend() call). No such cases are being fixed here. 2020-07-03Replace uses of FROM_SSI_SLAVE() macro with QOM castsPeter Maydell1-2/+2
The FROM_SSI_SLAVE() macro predates QOM and is used as a typesafe way to cast from an SSISlave* to the instance struct of a subtype of TYPE_SSI_SLAVE. Switch to using the QOM cast macros instead, which have the same effect (by writing the QOM macros if the types were previously missing them.) (The FROM_SSI_SLAVE() macro allows the SSISlave member of the subtype's struct to be anywhere as long as it is named "ssidev", whereas a QOM cast macro insists that it is the first thing in the subtype's struct. This is true for all the types we convert here.) This removes all the uses of FROM_SSI_SLAVE() so we can delete the definition. In my "build everything" tree, changing hw/qdev-properties.h triggers a recompile of some 2700 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h). Many places including hw/qdev-properties.h (directly or via hw/qdev.h) actually need only hw/qdev-core.h. Include hw/qdev-core.h there instead. hw/qdev.h is actually pointless: all it does is include hw/qdev-core.h and hw/qdev-properties.h, which in turn includes hw/qdev-core.h. Replace the remaining uses of hw/qdev.h by hw/qdev-properties.h. While there, delete a few superfluous inclusions of hw/qdev-core.h. Touching hw/qdev-properties.h now recompiles some 1200 objects. 2018-10-24ssi-sd: Make devices picking up backends unavailable with -deviceMarkus Armbruster1-0/+2
Device models aren't supposed to go on fishing expeditions for backends. They should expose suitable properties for the user to set. For onboard devices, board code sets them. Device ssi-sd picks up its block backend in its init() method with drive_get_next() instead. This mistake is already marked FIXME since commit af9e40a. Unset user_creatable to remove the mistake from our external interface. Since the SSI bus doesn't support hotplug, only -device can be affected. Only certain ARM machines have ssi-sd and provide an SSI bus for it; this patch breaks -device ssi-sd for these machines. No actual use of -device ssi-sd is known. 2018-01-16hw/sd/ssi-sd: Reset SD card on controller resetPeter Maydell1-2/+23
Since ssi-sd is still using the legacy SD card API, the SD card created by sd_init() is not plugged into any bus. This means that the controller has to reset it manually. Failing to do this mostly didn't affect the guest since the guest typically does a programmed SD card reset as part of its SD controller driver initialization, but meant that migration failed because it's only in sd_reset() that we set up the wpgrps_size field. In the case of sd-ssi, we have to implement an entire reset function since there wasn't one previously, and that requires a QOM cast macro that got omitted when this device was QOMified. Drives defined with if!=none are for board initialization to wire up. Board code calls drive_get() or similar to find them, and creates devices with their qdev drive properties set accordingly. Except a few devices go on a fishing expedition for a suitable backend instead of exposing a drive property for board code to set: they call driver_get() or drive_get_next() in their realize() or init() method to implicitly connect to the "next" backend with a certain interface type. Picking up backends that way works when the devices are created by board code. But it's inappropriate for -device or device_add. Not only is this inconsistent with how the other block device models work (they connect to a backend explicitly identified by a "drive" property), it breaks when the "next" backend has been picked up by the board already. Example: $ qemu-system-arm -S -M connex -pflash flash.img -device ssi-sd Aborted (core dumped) Mark them with suitable FIXME comments. Device models should access their block backends only through the block-backend.h API. Convert them, and drop direct includes of inappropriate headers. Just four uses of BlockDriverState are left: * The Xen paravirtual block device backend (xen_disk.c) opens images itself when set up via xenbus, bypassing blockdev.c. I figure it should go through qmp_blockdev_add() instead. * Device model "usb-storage" prompts for keys. No other device model does, and this one probably shouldn't do it, either. * ide_issue_trim_cb() uses bdrv_aio_discard() instead of blk_aio_discard() because it fishes its backend out of a BlockAIOCB, which has only the BlockDriverState. * PC87312State has an unused BlockDriverState[] member.
