2020-02-04hw/*/Makefile.objs: Move many .o files to common-objsThomas Huth1-1/+1
We have many files that apparently do not depend on the target CPU configuration, i.e. which can be put into common-obj-y instead of obj-y. This way, the code can be shared for example between qemu-system-arm and qemu-system-aarch64, or the various big and little endian variants like qemu-system-sh4 and qemu-system-sh4eb, so that we do not have to compile the code multiple times anymore. 2019-08-16Include hw/hw.h exactly where neededMarkus Armbruster2-2/+0
In my "build everything" tree, changing hw/hw.h triggers a recompile of some 2600 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h). The previous commits have left only the declaration of hw_error() in hw/hw.h. This permits dropping most of its inclusions. Touching it now recompiles less than 200 objects. 2019-08-16Include hw/irq.h a lot lessMarkus Armbruster1-0/+1
In my "build everything" tree, changing hw/irq.h triggers a recompile of some 5400 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h). hw/hw.h supposedly includes it for convenience. Several other headers include it just to get qemu_irq and.or qemu_irq_handler. Move the qemu_irq and qemu_irq_handler typedefs from hw/irq.h to qemu/typedefs.h, and then include hw/irq.h only where it's still needed. Touching it now recompiles only some 500 objects. 2019-03-07kconfig: introduce kconfig filesPaolo Bonzini1-0/+2
The Kconfig files were generated mostly with this script: for i in `grep -ho CONFIG_[A-Z0-9_]* default-configs/* | sort -u`; do set fnord `git grep -lw $i -- 'hw/*/Makefile.objs' ` shift if test $# = 1; then cat >> $(dirname $1)/Kconfig << EOF config ${i#CONFIG_} bool EOF git add $(dirname $1)/Kconfig else echo $i $* fi done sed -i '$d' hw/*/Kconfig for i in hw/*; do if test -d $i && ! test -f $i/Kconfig; then touch $i/Kconfig git add $i/Kconfig fi done Whenever a symbol is referenced from multiple subdirectories, the script prints the list of directories that reference the symbol. These symbols have to be added manually to the Kconfig files. Kconfig.host and hw/Kconfig were created manually. 2015-10-09hw: do not pass NULL to memory_region_init from instance_initPaolo Bonzini1-3/+3
This causes the region to outlive the object, because it attaches the region to /machine. This is not nice for the "realize" method, but much worse for "instance_init" because it can cause dangling pointers after a simple object_new/object_unref pair. 2014-10-24hmp: Remove "info pcmcia"Markus Armbruster1-21/+0
This command lists PCMCIA sockets and cards. Only a few ARM boards have sockets (akita, borzoi, connex, mainstone, spitz, terrier, tosa, verdex, z2), the only card is the DSCM-1xxxx Hitachi Microdrive (qdev "microdrive"), and it is only inserted during machine init, if ever. So this command doesn't really tell anybody anything new so far. Moreover, pcmcia_socket_unregister() has a use-after-free bug, flagged by Coverity. Has never been used, because there has never been code to eject a PCMCIA card. Not worth fixing & converting to QMP. Remove it. 2014-03-19qom: Add check() argument to object_property_add_link()Stefan Hajnoczi1-1/+3
There are currently three types of object_property_add_link() callers: 1. The link property may be set at any time. 2. The link property of a DeviceState instance may only be set before realize. 3. The link property may never be set, it is read-only. Something similar can already be achieved with object_property_add_str()'s set() argument. Follow its example and add a check() argument to object_property_add_link(). Also provide default check() functions for case #1 and #2. Case #3 is covered by passing a NULL function pointer. 2014-03-19qom: Make QOM link property unref optionalStefan Hajnoczi1-1/+1
Some object_property_add_link() callers expect property deletion to unref the link property object. Other callers expect to manage the refcount themselves. The former are currently broken and therefore leak the link property object. This patch adds a flags argument to object_property_add_link() so the caller can specify which refcount behavior they require. The new OBJ_PROP_LINK_UNREF_ON_RELEASE flag causes the link pointer to be unreferenced when the property is deleted. This fixes refcount leaks in qdev.c, xilinx_axidma.c, xilinx_axienet.c, s390-virtio-bus.c, virtio-pci.c, virtio-rng.c, and ui/console.c. Rationale for refcount behavior: * hw/core/qdev.c - bus children are explicitly unreferenced, don't interfere - parent_bus is essentially a read-only property that doesn't hold a refcount, don't unref - hotplug_handler is leaked, do unref * hw/dma/xilinx_axidma.c - rx stream "dma" links are set using set_link, therefore they need unref - tx streams are set using set_link, therefore they need unref * hw/net/xilinx_axienet.c - same reasoning as hw/dma/xilinx_axidma.c * hw/pcmcia/pxa2xx.c - pxa2xx bypasses set_link and therefore does not use refcounts * hw/s390x/s390-virtio-bus.c * hw/virtio/virtio-pci.c * hw/virtio/virtio-rng.c * ui/console.c - set_link is used and there is no explicit unref, do unref Cc: Peter Crosthwaite <peter.crosthwaite@petalogix.com> Cc: Alexander Graf <agraf@suse.de> Cc: Anthony Liguori <aliguori@amazon.com> Cc: "Michael S.
