2024-04-25hw, target: Add ResetType argument to hold and exit phase methodsPeter Maydell1-1/+1
We pass a ResetType argument to the Resettable class enter phase method, but we don't pass it to hold and exit, even though the callsites have it readily available. This means that if a device cared about the ResetType it would need to record it in the enter phase method to use later on. Pass the type to all three of the phase methods to avoid having to do that. Commit created with for dir in hw target include; do \ spatch --macro-file scripts/cocci-macro-file.h \ --sp-file scripts/coccinelle/reset-type.cocci \ --keep-comments --smpl-spacing --in-place \ --include-headers --dir $dir; done and no manual edits. There is no point in exposing an internal MMIO region via SysBus and directly mapping it in the very same device. Just map it without using the SysBus API. 2023-01-08include/hw/pci: Split pci_device.h off pci.hMarkus Armbruster1-1/+1
PCIDeviceClass and PCIDevice are defined in pci.h. Many users of the header don't actually need them. Similar structs live in their own headers: PCIBusClass and PCIBus in pci_bus.h, PCIBridge in pci_bridge.h, PCIHostBridgeClass and PCIHostState in pci_host.h, PCIExpressHost in pcie_host.h, and PCIERootPortClass, PCIEPort, and PCIESlot in pcie_port.h. Move PCIDeviceClass and PCIDeviceClass to new pci_device.h, along with the code that needs them. Adjust include directives. This also enables the next commit. sysemu/sysemu.h is a rather unfocused dumping ground for stuff related to the system-emulator. Evidence: * It's included widely: in my "build everything" tree, changing sysemu/sysemu.h still triggers a recompile of some 1100 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h, down from 5400 due to the previous two commits). * It pulls in more than a dozen additional headers. Split stuff related to run state management into its own header sysemu/runstate.h. Touching sysemu/sysemu.h now recompiles some 850 objects. qemu/uuid.h also drops from 1100 to 850, and qapi/qapi-types-run-state.h from 4400 to 4200. Touching new sysemu/runstate.h recompiles some 500 objects. Since I'm touching MAINTAINERS to add sysemu/runstate.h anyway, also add qemu/main-loop.h. 2017-12-05pci: Rename root bus initialization functions for clarityDavid Gibson1-4/+4
pci_bus_init(), pci_bus_new_inplace(), pci_bus_new() and pci_register_bus() are misleadingly named. They're not used for initializing *any* PCI bus, but only for a root PCI bus. Non-root buses - i.e. ones under a logical PCI to PCI bridge - are instead created with a direct qbus_create_inplace() (see pci_bridge_initfn()). Time to wire up all the call sites that request a shutdown or reset to use the enum added in the previous patch. It would have been less churn to keep the common case with no arguments as meaning guest-triggered, and only modified the host-triggered code paths, via a wrapper function, but then we'd still have to audit that I didn't miss any host-triggered spots; changing the signature forces us to double-check that I correctly categorized all callers. Since command line options can change whether a guest reset request causes an actual reset vs. a shutdown, it's easy to also add the information to reset requests. I think it is safe to say it is not a temporary measure, and we won't see the flag go away soon. Instead of a long field name that misleads people to believe it is temporary, replace it a shorter and less misleading field: user_creatable.
