2024-02-15hw/isa: specify instance_size in isa_superio_type_infoPaolo Bonzini2-2/+1
Right now all subclasses of TYPE_ISA_SUPERIO have to specify an instance_size, because the ISASuperIODevice struct adds fields to ISADevice but the type does not include the increased instance size. Failure to do so results in an access past the bounds of struct ISADevice as soon as isa_superio_realize is called. Fix this by specifying the instance_size already in the superclass. 2024-02-14hw/isa/vt82c686: Implement relocation and toggling of SuperI/O functionsBernhard Beschow1-10/+55
The VIA south bridges are able to relocate and toggle (enable or disable) their SuperI/O functions. So far this is hardcoded such that all functions are always enabled and are located at fixed addresses. Some PC BIOSes seem to probe for I/O occupancy before activating such a function and issue an error in case of a conflict. Since the functions are currently enabled on reset, conflicts are always detected. Prevent that by implementing relocation and toggling of the SuperI/O functions. Note that all SuperI/O functions are now deactivated upon reset (except for VT82C686B's serial ports where Fuloong 2e's rescue-yl seems to expect them to be enabled by default). Rely on firmware to configure the functions accordingly. 2023-11-28hw/isa/vt82c686: Route PIRQ inputs using via_isa_set_irq()BALATON Zoltan1-41/+24
The chip has 4 pins (called PIRQA-D in VT82C686B and PINTA-D in VT8231) that are meant to be connected to PCI IRQ lines and allow routing PCI interrupts to the ISA PIC. Route these in via_isa_set_irq() to make it possible to share them with internal functions that can also be routed to the same ISA IRQs. 2023-11-28hw/isa/vt82c686: Bring back via_isa_set_irq()BALATON Zoltan1-0/+41
The VIA integrated south bridge chips combine several functions and allow routing their interrupts to any of the ISA IRQs also allowing multiple sources to share the same ISA IRQ. E.g. pegasos2 firmware configures everything to use IRQ 9 but amigaone routes them to separate ISA IRQs so the current simplified routing does not work. Bring back via_isa_set_irq() and change it to take the component that wants to change an IRQ and keep track of interrupt status of each source separately and do the mapping to ISA IRQ within the ISA bridge. This may not handle cases when an ISA IRQ is controlled by devices directly, not going through via_isa_set_irq() such as serial, parallel or keyboard but these IRQs being conventionally fixed are not likely to be change by guests or share with other devices so this does not cause a problem in practice. This reverts commit 4e5a20b6da9b1f6d2e9621ed7eb8b239560104ae. 2023-10-22hw/isa/piix3: Wire PIC IRQs to ISA bus in host deviceBernhard Beschow1-0/+2
Thie PIIX3 south bridge implements both the PIC and the ISA bus, so wiring the interrupts there makes the device model more self-contained. 2023-10-22hw/i386/pc_q35: Wire ICH9 LPC function's interrupts before its realize()Bernhard Beschow1-3/+3
When the board assigns the ISA IRQs after the device's realize(), internal devices such as the RTC can't be wired in ich9_lpc_realize() since the qemu_irqs are still NULL. Fix that by assigning the ISA interrupts before realize(). This change is necessary for PIIX consolidation because PIIX4 wires the RTC interrupts in its realize() method, so PIIX3 needs to do so as well. Since the PC and Q35 boards share RTC code, and since PIIX3 needs the change, ICH9 needs to be adapted as well. 2023-10-04hw/isa/ich9: Add comment on imperfect emulation of PIC vs. I/O APIC routingDavid Woodhouse1-0/+15
As noted in the comment, the PCI INTx lines are supposed to be routed to *both* the PIC and the I/O APIC. It's just that we don't cope with the concept of an IRQ being asserted to two *different* pins on the two irqchips. So we have this hack of routing to I/O APIC only if the PIRQ routing to the PIC is disabled. Which seems to work well enough, even when I try hard to break it with kexec. But should be explicitly documented and understood.
