2017-04-27qemu-img/convert: Move bs_n > 1 && -B check downMax Reitz2-8/+9
It does not make much sense to use a backing image for the target when you concatenate multiple images (because then there is no correspondence between the source images' backing files and the target's); but it was still possible to give one by using -o backing_file=X instead of -B X. Fix this by moving the check. (Also, change the error message because -B is not the only way to specify the backing file, evidently.) 2017-04-27qemu-img/convert: Use @opts for one thing onlyMax Reitz1-4/+6
After storing the creation options for the new image into @opts, we fetch some things for our own information, like the backing file name, or whether to use encryption or preallocation. With the -n parameter, there will not be any creation options; this is not too bad because this just means that querying a NULL @opts will always return the default value. However, we also use @opts for the --object options. Therefore, @opts is not necessarily NULL if -n was specified; instead, it may contain those options. In practice, this probably does not cause any problems because there most likely is no object that supports any of the parameters we query here, but this is neither something we should rely on nor does this variable reuse make the code very nice to read. 2017-04-27block: fix alignment calculations in bdrv_co_do_zero_pwritevDenis V. Lunev1-1/+1
tail_padding_bytes is calculated wrong. F.e. for offset = 0 bytes = 2048 align = 512 we will have tail_padding_bytes = 512 which is definitely wrong. The patch fixes that arithmetics. 2017-04-27block: Do not unref bs->file on error in BD's openMax Reitz3-9/+1
The block layer takes care of removing the bs->file child if the block driver's bdrv_open()/bdrv_file_open() implementation fails. The block driver therefore does not need to do so, and indeed should not unless it sets bs->file to NULL afterwards -- because if this is not done, the bdrv_unref_child() in bdrv_open_inherit() will dereference the freed memory block at bs->file afterwards, which is not good. We can now decide whether to add a "bs->file = NULL;" after each of the offending bdrv_unref_child() invocations, or just drop them altogether. The latter is simpler, so let's do that. 2017-04-27iotests: 109: Filter out "len" of failed jobsFam Zheng3-12/+20
Mirror calculates job len from current I/O progress: s->common.len = s->common.offset + (cnt + s->sectors_in_flight) * BDRV_SECTOR_SIZE; The final "len" of a failed mirror job in iotests 109 depends on the subtle timing of the completion of read and write issued in the first mirror iteration. The second iteration may or may not have run when the I/O error happens, resulting in non-deterministic output of the BLOCK_JOB_COMPLETED event text. Similar to what was done in a752e4786, filter out the field to make the test robust. 2017-04-27iotests: Launch qemu-nbd with -e 42Max Reitz1-1/+3
There is no reason for the qemu-nbd server used for tests not to accept an arbitrary number of clients. In fact, test 181 will require it to accept two clients at the same time (and thus it fails before this patch). This patch updates common.rc to launch qemu-nbd with -e 42 which should be enough for all of our current and future tests. Commit d35ff5e6 ('block: Ignore guest dev permissions during incoming migration') added blk_resume_after_migration() to the precopy migration path, but neglected to add it to the duplicated code that is used for postcopy migration. This means that the guest device doesn't request the necessary permissions, which ultimately led to failing assertions. Add the missing blk_resume_after_migration() to the postcopy path. When running certain HMP commands (like "device_del") via QMP, we can sometimes get a QMP event in the response first, so that the "g_assert(ret)" statement in qtest_hmp() triggers and the test fails. Fix this by ignoring such QMP events while looking for the real return value from QMP. This patch registers mfspr 259 for Book3S and e500 family cores following this research: mfspr 259 provides read-only mapped user access to SPRG3(SPR 275) according to: - PowerISA 2.02, Book III (documents implementation starting with POWER4+ @ p20) - IBM PowerPC 970MP RISC Microprocessor User's Manual v2.1, page 48 - Amit Singh: "Mac OS X Internals: A Systems Approach" on 970 and 970FX cores: He demonstrates mfspr 259 reading TLS data from Mac OS X on G5 on page 588 - NXP documents it in the Core Reference Manuals of: e500, e500mc and e5500 - getcpu() of the 32 & 64-bit Book3S Linux vDSOs use it to read the core number mfspr 259 does not appear to be implemented in these cores according to: - 74xx series: MPC7410/MPC7400 and MPC7450 RISC Microprocessor Reference Manuals - 4xx series: PPC440 Processor User's Manual, Revision 1.09 by AMCC - 750 series: IBM PowerPC 750CL RISC Microprocessor User's Manual - e200 series: e200z4 Power Architectureâ Core Reference Manual Implementation: gen_spr_usprg3() is called from init_proc_book3s_common() (covers the 970 and POWER cores) and init_proc_e500() (covers the e500 family) to register spr_read_ureg() in the same way which it already provides the mapped SPR access for SPR_USPRG4-7 in gen_spr_usprgh() for cores which have the same read-only mapped SPRG register access for SPRG4-7. Verified using Linux by pinning a thread to a core and checking sched_getcpu() using qemu-system-ppc64 -M pseries -cpu POWER8 using MTTCG on a x86_64 host. 2017-04-26target/ppc: Flush TLB on write to PIDRSuraj Jitindar Singh3-2/+17
The PIDR (process id register) is used to store the id of the currently running process, which is used to select the process table entry used to perform address translation. This means that when we write to this register all the translations in the TLB become outdated as they are for a previously running process. Thus when this register is written to we need to invalidate the TLB entries to ensure stale entries aren't used to to perform translation for the new process, which would result in at best segfaults or alternatively just random memory being accessed. Skiboot, the firmware for the PowerNV platform, expects the BMC to provide some specific IPMI sensors. These sensors are exposed in the device tree and their values are updated by the firmware at boot time. Sensors of interest are : "FW Boot Progress" "Boot Count" As such a device is defined on the command line, we can only detect its presence at reset time.
