2024-07-05[BPF] Fix linking issues in static map initializers (#91310)Nick Zavaritsky1-1/+1
When BPF object files are linked with bpftool, every symbol must be accompanied by BTF info. Ensure that extern functions referenced by global variable initializers are included in BTF. The primary motivation is "static" initialization of PROG maps: ```c extern int elsewhere(struct xdp_md *); struct { __uint(type, BPF_MAP_TYPE_PROG_ARRAY); __uint(max_entries, 1); __type(key, int); __type(value, int); __array(values, int (struct xdp_md *)); } prog_map SEC(".maps") = { .values = { elsewhere } }; ``` BPF backend needs debug info to produce BTF. Debug info is not normally generated for external variables and functions. Previously, it was solved differently for variables (collecting variable declarations in ExternalDeclarations vector) and functions (logic invoked during codegen in CGExpr.cpp). This patch generalises ExternalDefclarations to include both function and variable declarations. This change ensures that function references are not missed no matter the context. Previously external functions referenced in constant expressions lacked debug info.
2024-03-19[AArch64] Add soft-float ABI (#84146)ostannard1-8/+8
This is re-working of #74460, which adds a soft-float ABI for AArch64. That was reverted because it causes errors when building the linux and fuchsia kernels. The problem is that GCC's implementation of the ABI compatibility checks when using the hard-float ABI on a target without FP registers does it's checks after optimisation. The previous version of this patch reported errors for all uses of floating-point types, which is stricter than what GCC does in practice. This changes two things compared to the first version: * Only check the types of function arguments and returns, not the types of other values. This is more relaxed than GCC, while still guaranteeing ABI compatibility. * Move the check from Sema to CodeGen, so that inline functions are only checked if they are actually used. There are some cases in the linux kernel which depend on this behaviour of GCC.

2022-12-03[clang-repl] Support statements on global scope in incremental mode.Vassil Vassilev1-0/+1
This patch teaches clang to parse statements on the global scope to allow: ``` ./bin/clang-repl clang-repl> int i = 12; clang-repl> ++i; clang-repl> extern "C" int printf(const char*,...); clang-repl> printf("%d\n", i); 13 clang-repl> %quit ``` Generally, disambiguating between statements and declarations is a non-trivial task for a C++ parser. The challenge is to allow both standard C++ to be translated as if this patch does not exist and in the cases where the user typed a statement to be executed as if it were in a function body. Clang's Parser does pretty well in disambiguating between declarations and expressions. We have added DisambiguatingWithExpression flag which allows us to preserve the existing and optimized behavior where needed and implement the extra rules for disambiguating. Only few cases require additional attention: * Constructors/destructors -- Parser::isConstructorDeclarator was used in to disambiguate between ctor-looking declarations and statements on the global scope(eg. `Ns::f()`). * The template keyword -- the template keyword can appear in both declarations and statements. This patch considers the template keyword to be a declaration starter which breaks a few cases in incremental mode which will be tackled later. * The inline (and similar) keyword -- looking at the first token in many cases allows us to classify what is a declaration. * Other language keywords and specifiers -- ObjC/ObjC++/OpenCL/OpenMP rely on pragmas or special tokens which will be handled in subsequent patches. The patch conceptually models a "top-level" statement into a TopLevelStmtDecl. The TopLevelStmtDecl is lowered into a void function with no arguments. We attach this function to the global initializer list to execute the statement blocks in the correct order. Differential revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D127284

2022-02-02[clang][macho] add clang frontend support for emitting macho files with two ↵Alex Lorenz1-0/+5
build version load commands This patch extends clang frontend to add metadata that can be used to emit macho files with two build version load commands. It utilizes "darwin.target_variant.triple" and "darwin.target_variant.SDK Version" metadata names for that. MachO uses two build version load commands to represent an object file / binary that is targeting both the macOS target, and the Mac Catalyst target. At runtime, a dynamic library that supports both targets can be loaded from either a native macOS or a Mac Catalyst app on a macOS system. We want to add support to this to upstream to LLVM to be able to build compiler-rt for both targets, to finish the complete support for the Mac Catalyst platform, which is right now targetable by upstream clang, but the compiler-rt bits aren't supported because of the lack of this multiple build version support. 2021-04-27[clang/Basic] Make TargetInfo.h not use DataLayout againNico Weber1-1/+1
Reverts parts of https://reviews.llvm.org/D17183, but keeps the resetDataLayout() API and adds an assert that checks that datalayout string and user label prefix are in sync. Approach 1 in https://reviews.llvm.org/D17183#2653279 Reduces number of TUs build for 'clang-format' from 689 to 575. I also implemented approach 2 in D100764. If someone feels motivated to make us use DataLayout more, it's easy to revert this change here and go with D100764 instead. I don't plan on doing more work in this area though, so I prefer going with the smaller, more self-consistent change. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D100776

2019-12-10[DebugInfo] Support to emit debugInfo for extern variablesYonghong Song1-0/+4
Extern variable usage in BPF is different from traditional pure user space application. Recent discussion in linux bpf mailing list has two use cases where debug info types are required to use extern variables: - extern types are required to have a suitable interface in libbpf (bpf loader) to provide kernel config parameters to bpf programs. https://lore.kernel.org/bpf/CAEf4BzYCNo5GeVGMhp3fhysQ=_axAf=23PtwaZs-yAyafmXC9g@mail.gmail.com/T/#t - extern types are required so kernel bpf verifier can verify program which uses external functions more precisely. This will make later link with actual external function no need to reverify. https://lore.kernel.org/bpf/87eez4odqp.fsf@toke.dk/T/#m8d5c3e87ffe7f2764e02d722cb0d8cbc136880ed This patch added clang support to emit debuginfo for extern variables with a TargetInfo hook to enable it. The debuginfo for the extern variable is emitted only if that extern variable is referenced in the current compilation unit. Currently, only BPF target enables to generate debug info for extern variables. The emission of such debuginfo is disabled for C++ at this moment since BPF only supports a subset of C language. Emission with C++ can be enabled later if an appropriate use case is identified. -fstandalone-debug permits us to see more debuginfo with the cost of bloated binary size. This patch did not add emission of extern variable debug info with -fstandalone-debug. This can be re-evaluated if there is a real need. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D70696
2019-09-30[Clang] Use -main-file-name for source filename if not setTeresa Johnson1-2/+10
-main-file-name is currently used to set the source name used in debug information. If the source filename is "-" and -main-file-name is set, then use the filename also for source_filename and ModuleID of the output. The argument is generally used outside the internal clang calls when running clang in a wrapper like icecc which gives the source via stdin but still wants to get a object file with the original source filename both in debug info and IR code. Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers include that license only. pass in the -target-sdk-version to the compiler and backend This commit adds support for reading the SDKSettings.json file in the Darwin driver. This file is used by the driver to determine the SDK's version, and it uses that information to pass it down to the compiler using the new -target-sdk-version= option. This option is then used to set the appropriate SDK Version module metadata introduced in r349119. 2018-09-18[MS] Defer dllexport inline friend functions like other inline methodsReid Kleckner1-20/+9
This special case was added in r264841, but the code breaks our invariants by calling EmitTopLevelDecl without first creating a HandlingTopLevelDeclRAII scope. This fixes the PCH crash in https://crbug.com/884427. I was never able to make a satisfactory reduction, unfortunately. I'm not very worried about this regressing since this change makes the code simpler while passing the existing test that shows we do emit dllexported friend function definitions. Now we just defer their emission until the tag is fully complete, which is generally good. llvm-svn: 342516

As discussed in the review this is meant to give us a way to proceed forward in our efforts to upstream our interpreter-related patches. The design of this will likely change soon. llvm-svn: 311843
2017-04-19[Coverage] Don't emit mappings for functions in dependent contexts (fixes ↵Vedant Kumar1-1/+1
PR32679) The coverage implementation marks functions which won't be emitted as 'deferred', so that it can emit empty coverage regions for them later (once their linkages are known). Functions in dependent contexts are an exception: if there isn't a full instantiation of a function, it shouldn't be marked 'deferred'. We've been breaking that rule without much consequence because we just ended up with useless, extra, empty coverage mappings. With PR32679, this behavior finally caused a crash, because clang marked a partial template specialization as 'deferred', causing the MS mangler to choke in its delayed-template-parsing mode: error: cannot mangle this template type parameter type yet (http://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32679) Fix this by checking if a decl's context is a dependent context before marking it 'deferred'. 2016-04-22Fix a bug involving deferred decl emission and PCHReid Kleckner1-2/+18
For various reasons, involving dllexport and class linkage compuations, we have to wait until after the semicolon after a class declaration to emit inline methods. These are "deferred" decls. Before this change, finishing the tag decl would trigger us to deserialize some PCH so that we could make a "pretty" IR-level type. Deserializing the PCH triggered calls to HandleTopLevelDecl, which, when done, checked the deferred decl list, and emitted some dllexported decls that weren't ready. Avoid this re-entrancy. Deferred decls should not get emitted when a tag is finished, they should only be emitted after a real top level decl in the main file. llvm-svn: 267186

2016-01-26[MS ABI] Allow a member pointers' converted type to changeDavid Majnemer1-0/+7
Member pointers in the MS ABI are tricky for a variety of reasons. The size of a member pointer is indeterminate until the program reaches a point where the representation is required to be known. However, *pointers* to member pointers may exist without knowing the pointee type's representation. In these cases, we synthesize an opaque LLVM type for the pointee type. However, we can be in a situation where the underlying member pointer's representation became known mid-way through the program. To account for this, we attempted to manicure CodeGen's type-cache so that we can replace the opaque member pointer type with the real deal while leaving the pointer types unperturbed. This, unfortunately, is a problematic approach to take as we will violate CodeGen's invariants. These violations are mostly harmless but let's do the right thing instead: invalidate the type-cache if a member pointer's LLVM representation changes. This fixes PR26313. llvm-svn: 258839
