2024-01-08Remove ia64-linux-gnuAdhemerval Zanella1-20/+0
Linux 6.7 removed ia64 from the official tree [1], following the general principle that a glibc port needs upstream support for the architecture in all the components it depends on (binutils, GCC, and the Linux kernel). Apart from the removal of sysdeps/ia64 and sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/ia64, there are updates to various comments referencing ia64 for which removal of those references seemed appropriate. The configuration is removed from README and build-many-glibcs.py. The CONTRIBUTED-BY, elf/elf.h, manual/contrib.texi (the porting mention), *.po files, config.guess, and longlong.h are not changed. For Linux it allows cleanup some clone2 support on multiple files. The following bug can be closed as WONTFIX: BZ 22634 [2], BZ 14250 [3], BZ 21634 [4], BZ 10163 [5], BZ 16401 [6], and BZ 11585 [7]. I used these shell commands: ../glibc/scripts/update-copyrights $PWD/../gnulib/build-aux/update-copyright (cd ../glibc && git commit -am"[this commit message]") and then ignored the output, which consisted lines saying "FOO: warning: copyright statement not found" for each of 7061 files FOO. I then removed trailing white space from math/tgmath.h, support/tst-support-open-dev-null-range.c, and sysdeps/x86_64/multiarch/strlen-vec.S, to work around the following obscure pre-commit check failure diagnostics from Savannah. I don't know why I run into these diagnostics whereas others evidently do not. remote: *** 912-#endif remote: *** 913: remote: *** 914- remote: *** error: lines with trailing whitespace found ... remote: *** error: sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/statx_cp.c: trailing lines
2021-05-21nptl: Remove remaining code from libpthreadFlorian Weimer1-5/+0
Only the placeholder compatibility symbols are left now. The __errno_location symbol was removed (moved) using scripts/move-symbol-to-libc.py. Reviewed-by: Adhemerval Zanella <adhemerval.zanella@linaro.org>

2020-04-21ia64: Remove sigprocmask/sigblock objects from libpthreadAdhemerval Zanella1-2/+2
It is required because __libc_unwind_longjmp (used on thread cancellation) calls __sigprocmask. Replace with a direct call. They are required because __libc_unwind_longjmp (used for thread cancellation) calls __sigprocmask. Replace this with a direct call. The sigblock function is not exported and is not used internally, so it can be removed. Checked on cross build for ia64-linux-gnu.

Also, change sources.redhat.com to sourceware.org. 2016-09-14Remove the ptw-% patternsFlorian Weimer1-2/+2
Nothing depends on the PTW macro anymore, so the mechanism to define PTW for recompliations of libc routines is no longer needed. The source files are still recompiled for the nptl directory, just without the “ptw-” prefix. (Reducing the number of pattern rules in sysd-rules is critical for improving make performance.)
2016-08-17Do not override objects in libc.a in other static libraries [BZ #20452]Florian Weimer1-0/+1
With this change, we no longer add sysdep.o and similar objects which are present in libc.a to other static libraries.
