arm_sve.h depends on stdint.h but that relies on libc headers unless compiled in freestanding mode. Without this change a bootstrap glibc build (that uses a compiler without installed libc headers) failed with checking for availability of SVE ACLE... 2023-05-03Enable libmvec support for AArch64Joe Ramsay1-0/+16
This patch enables libmvec on AArch64. The proposed change is mainly implementing build infrastructure to add the new routines to ABI, tests and benchmarks. I have demonstrated how this all fits together by adding implementations for vector cos, in both single and double precision, targeting both Advanced SIMD and SVE. The implementations of the routines themselves are just loops over the scalar routine from libm for now, as we are more concerned with getting the plumbing right at this point. We plan to contribute vector routines from the Arm Optimized Routines repo that are compliant with requirements described in the libmvec wiki. Building libmvec requires minimum GCC 10 for SVE ACLE. To avoid raising the minimum GCC by such a big jump, we allow users to disable libmvec if their compiler is too old. Note that at this point users have to manually call the vector math functions. PI_STATIC_AND_HIDDEN indicates whether accesses to internal linkage variables and hidden visibility variables in a shared object (ld.so) need dynamic relocations (usually R_*_RELATIVE). PI (position independent) in the macro name is a misnomer: a code sequence using GOT is typically position-independent as well, but using dynamic relocations does not meet the requirement. Not defining PI_STATIC_AND_HIDDEN is legacy and we expect that all new ports will define PI_STATIC_AND_HIDDEN. Current ports defining PI_STATIC_AND_HIDDEN are more than the opposite. 2020-11-02aarch64: Add variant PCS lazy binding test [BZ #26798]Szabolcs Nagy1-0/+22
This test fails without bug 26798 fixed because some integer registers likely get clobbered by lazy binding and variant PCS only allows x16 and x17 to be clobbered at call time. The test requires binutils 2.32.1 or newer for handling variant PCS symbols. SVE registers are not covered by this test, to avoid the complexity of handling multiple compile- and runtime feature support cases.

Return address signing requires unwinder support, which is present in libgcc since >=gcc-7, however due to bugs the support may be broken in <gcc-10 (and similarly there may be issues in custom unwinders), so pac-ret is not always safe to use. So in assembly code glibc should only use pac-ret if the compiler uses it too. Unfortunately there is no predefined feature macro for it set by the compiler so pac-ret is inferred from the code generation. Reviewed-by: Adhemerval Zanella <adhemerval.zanella@linaro.org>
2020-07-08aarch64: ensure objects are BTI compatibleSzabolcs Nagy1-0/+1
When glibc is built with branch protection (i.e. with a gcc configured with --enable-standard-branch-protection), all glibc binaries should be BTI compatible and marked as such. It is easy to link BTI incompatible objects by accident and this is silent currently which is usually not the expectation, so this is changed into a link error. (There is no linker flag for failing on BTI incompatible inputs so all warnings are turned into fatal errors outside the test system when building glibc with branch protection.) Unfortunately, outlined atomic functions are not BTI compatible in libgcc (PR libgcc/96001), so to build glibc with current gcc use 'CC=gcc -mno-outline-atomics', this should be fixed in libgcc soon and then glibc can be built and tested without such workarounds. Check BTI support in the compiler and linker. The check also requires READELF that understands the BTI GNU property note. It is expected to succeed with gcc >=gcc-9 configured with --enable-standard-branch-protection and binutils >=binutils-2.33. Note: passing -mbranch-protection=bti in CFLAGS when building glibc may not be enough to get a glibc that supports BTI because crtbegin* and crtend* provided by the compiler needs to be BTI compatible too. This patch moves the AArch64 port to the main sysdeps hierarchy. The move is essentially: git mv ports/sysdeps/aarch64 sysdeps/aarch64 git mv ports/sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/aarch64 sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/aarch64 The README is updated and I've updated ChangeLog.aarch64 along the lines of the ARM move. The AArch64 build has been tested to confirm that there were no changes in objdump -dr output or the shared objects.
