This switches to public symbols without __ prefixes, due to improved namespace management in glibc. The script was used with --no-new-version to move the symbols __res_nquery, __res_nquerydomain, __res_nsearch, __res_query, __res_querydomain, __res_search, res_query, res_querydomain, res_search. The public symbols res_nquery, res_nquerydomain, res_nsearch, res_ownok, res_query, res_querydomain, res_search were added with make update-all-abi. This reflects what the remaining functions in the file do. The __res_dnok, __res_hnok, __res_mailok, __res_ownok were moved with the script, using --no-new-version, and turned into compat symbols. __libc_res_dnok@@GLIBC_PRIVATE and __libc_res_hnok@@GLIBC_PRIVATE are added for internal use, to avoid accidentally binding to compatibility symbols. Due to internal users, provide a __libc_dn_skipname alias, and keep __dn_skipname as a pure compatibility symbol. __dn_skipname@GLIBC_2.0 was moved using the script, and dn_skipname@@GLIBC_2.34 was added using make update-all-abi. There are no internal users, so interposition is not a problem. 2021-07-19resolv: Move dn_expand to its own file and into libcFlorian Weimer1-2/+4
And reformat to GNU style. This switches back to the dn_expand name for the ABI symbol and turns __dn_expand into a compatibility symbol. With the improved namespace management in current glibc, it is no longer necessary to use a private namespace symbol. To avoid old code binding to a GLIBC_PRIVATE symbol by accident, use __libc_dn_expand for the internal symbol name. The symbols dn_expand, __dnexpand were moved using scripts/move-symbol-to-libc.py, followed by an adjustment to make dn_expand the only GLIBC_2.34 symbol. The symbols gai_cancel, gai_error, gai_suspend, getaddrinfo_a, __gai_suspend_time64 were moved using scripts/move-symbol-to-libc.py. For Hurd (which remains !PTHREAD_IN_LIBC), a few #define redirects had to be added because several pthread functions are not available under __. (Linux uses __ prefixes for most hidden aliases, and has to in some cases to avoid linknamespace issues.)

The IPv4 address parser in the getaddrinfo function is changed so that it does not ignore trailing whitespace and all characters after it. For backwards compatibility, the getaddrinfo function still recognizes legacy name syntax, such as 192.000.002.010 interpreted as 192.0.2.8 (octal). This commit does not change the behavior of inet_addr and inet_aton. gethostbyname already had additional sanity checks (but is switched over to the new __inet_aton_exact function for completeness as well). To avoid sending the problematic query names over DNS, commit 6ca53a2453598804a2559a548a08424fca96434a ("resolv: Do not send queries for non-host-names in nss_dns [BZ #24112]") is needed.

struct resolv_context objects provide a temporary resolver context which does not change during a name lookup operation. Only when the outmost context is created, the stub resolver configuration is verified to be current (at present, only against previous res_init calls). Subsequent attempts to obtain the context will reuse the result of the initial verification operation. struct resolv_context can also be extended in the future to store data which needs to be deallocated during thread cancellation.

The 2008 edition of POSIX removed h_errno, but some functions still bring in references to the h_errno external symbol. As this symbol is not a part of the public ABI (only __h_errno_location is), this patch fixes this by renaming the GLIBC_PRIVATE TLS symbol to __h_errno. Tested for x86_64 and x86 (testsuite, and comparison of installed shared libraries). Disassembly of all shared libraries using h_errno changes because of the renaming (and changes to associated TLS / GOT offsets in some cases); disassembly of libpthread on x86_64 changes more substantially because the enlargement of .dynsym affects subsequent addresses.
