2022-06-24gdb/testsuite: remove unneeded calls to get_compiler_infoAndrew Burgess1-2/+0
It is not necessary to call get_compiler_info before calling test_compiler_info, and, after recent commits that removed setting up the gcc_compiled, true, and false globals from get_compiler_info, there is now no longer any need for any test script to call get_compiler_info directly. As a result every call to get_compiler_info outside of lib/gdb.exp is redundant, and this commit removes them all. There should be no change in what is tested after this commit.
2022-05-16gdb/testsuite: fix "continue outside of loop" TCL errorsBruno Larsen1-1/+1
Many test cases had a few lines in the beginning that look like: if { condition } { continue } Where conditions varied, but were mostly in the form of ![runto_main] or [skip_*_tests], making it quite clear that this code block was supposed to finish the test if it entered the code block. This generates TCL errors, as most of these tests are not inside loops. All cases on which this was an obvious mistake are changed in this patch.

This commit resolves the remaining duplicate test names in gdb.cp/*.exp. These are all the easy duplicates, I'm either giving tests a new, unique name, extending an existing name to make it unique, or changing an existing name to better reflect what the test is actually doing, and thus, making this test name unique. There should be no change in what is tested after this commit. gdb/testsuite/ChangeLog: * gdb.cp/breakpoint.exp: Extend test names to make them unique. * gdb.cp/casts.exp: Give tests unique names. * gdb.cp/filename.exp: Likewise. * gdb.cp/gdb2495.exp: Likewise. * gdb.cp/mb-ctor.exp: Extend test names to make them unique. * gdb.cp/misc.exp: Rename test to make it unique. * gdb.cp/nsnested.exp: Give tests unique names. * gdb.cp/ovldbreak.exp: Likewise. * gdb.cp/pr17494.exp: Rename test to reflect what is actually being tested. 2019-05-21[gdb/testsuite] Require c++11 where necessaryTom de Vries1-1/+2
When building gdb on ubuntu 16.04 with gcc 5.4.0, and running the gdb testsuite we run into failures due test-cases requiring at least c++1. Fix this by adding -std=c++11 to those test-cases. This commit applies all changes made after running the gdb/copyright.py script. Note that one file was flagged by the script, due to an invalid copyright header (gdb/unittests/basic_string_view/element_access/char/empty.cc). As the file was copied from GCC's libstdc++-v3 testsuite, this commit leaves this file untouched for the time being; a patch to fix the header was sent to gcc-patches first. gdb/ChangeLog: Update copyright year range in all GDB files.
2018-08-02Allow "info address" of a template parameterTom Tromey1-0/+8
PR symtab/16842 shows that gdb will crash when the user tries to invoke "info address" of a template parameter. The bug here is that dwarf2read.c does not set the symtab on the template parameter symbols. This is pedantically correct, given that the template symbols do not appear in a symtab. However, gdb primarily uses the symtab backlink to find the symbol's objfile. So, this patch simply sets the symtab on these symbols.
