This patches removes get_regcache_arch, and use regache->arch () instead.
The motivation of this change is that I am going to move some basic stuff
into a base class of regcache. I don't need to update "client" code
regcache->arch (). On the other hand, this patch shortens the code a
little bit.

When debugging two inferiors (or more) against gdbserver, and the
inferiors have different architectures, such as e.g., on x86_64
GNU/Linux and one inferior is 64-bit while the other is 32-bit, then
GDB can get confused with the different architectures in a couple
spots.
In both cases I ran into, GDB incorrectly ended up using the
architecture of whatever happens to be the selected inferior instead
of the architecture of some other given inferior:
#1 - When parsing the expedited registers in stop replies.
#2 - In the default implementation of the target_thread_architecture
target method.
These resulted in instances of the infamous "Remote 'g' packet reply
is too long" error. For example, with the test added in this commit,
we get:

This removes save_inferior_ptid, a cleanup function, in favor of
scoped_restore.
This also fixes a possible (it seems unlikely that it could happen in
practice) memory leak -- save_inferior_ptid should have used
make_cleanup_dtor, because it allocated memory.
I tested this on the buildbot. However, there are two caveats to
this. First, sometimes it seems I misread the results. Second, I
think this patch touches some platforms that can't be tested by the
buildbot. So, extra care seems warranted.

As an update to commit ede5f15146ae ("gdbarch.h: Change
gdbarch_info::tdep_info's type to void *") replace the definition of the
`tdep_info' member in `struct gdbarch_info' with an anonymous union,
comprising the original member, with its type reverted to `struct
gdbarch_tdep_info *', a `tdesc_data' member of a `struct tdesc_arch_data
*' type and an `id' member of an `int *' type. Remove now unnecessary
casts throughout use places then, making code easier to read an less
prone to errors, which may happen with casting.

The implementations of to_fetch_registers/to_store_registers in the spu
code use some functions that rely on inferior_ptid. It's simpler for
now to set/restore inferior_ptid.

The system compiler (gcc 4.1) in Centos 5 doesn't like that we cast to a
pointer to a type that doesn't exist. I see no real value in using this
kind iof construct over just using void *. So this patch changes the
tdep_info field to void * and removes the casts. Even in C++, we
should not need an explicit cast when assigning to a void *.

With recent changes to inferior handling, parse_spufs_run needs to be
more careful in assumptions it makes. In particular, this patch:
- Bails out early if the current inferior has not yet been registered
(e.g. during fork procession) to avoid assertion failures in register
cache code.
- Sets inferior_ptid to the current ptid while calling target_read_memory
to make sure the correct process is accessed if parse_spufs_run is
called early when inferior_ptid has not yet been switched by the caller.

find_target_beneath that pass in an explicit target_ops; but which
should instead use the ops provided to the method in question. See:

This patch cleans up some minor inconsistencies in target delegation.
It's primary purpose is to avoid confusion in the code. A few spots
were checking the "beneath" target; however this can only be NULL for
the dummy target, so such tests are not needed. Some other spots were
iterating over the beneath targets, looking for a method
implementation. This is not needed for methods handled by
make-target-delegates, as there is always an implementation.

This patch does the conversion of to_xfer_partial from
LONGEST (*to_xfer_partial) (struct target_ops *ops,
enum target_object object, const char *annex,
gdb_byte *readbuf, const gdb_byte *writebuf,
ULONGEST offset, ULONGEST len);
to
enum target_xfer_status (*to_xfer_partial) (struct target_ops *ops,
enum target_object object, const char *annex,
gdb_byte *readbuf, const gdb_byte *writebuf,
ULONGEST offset, ULONGEST len, ULONGEST *xfered_len);
It changes to_xfer_partial return the transfer status and the transfered
length by *XFERED_LEN. Generally, the return status has three stats,
- TARGET_XFER_OK,
- TARGET_XFER_EOF,
- TARGET_XFER_E_XXXX,
See the comments to them in 'enum target_xfer_status'. Note that
Pedro suggested not name TARGET_XFER_DONE, as it is confusing,
compared with "TARGET_XFER_OK". We finally name it TARGET_XFER_EOF.
With this change, GDB core can handle unavailable data in a convenient
way.

Consider an object/value like this:
0 100 150 200 512
DDDDDDDDDDDxxxxxxxxxDDDDDD...DDIIIIIIIIIIII..III
where D is valid data, and xxx is unavailable data, and I is beyond
the end of the object (Invalid). Currently, if we start the
xfer at 0, requesting, say 512 bytes, we'll first get back 100 bytes.
The xfer machinery then retries fetching [100,512), and gets back
TARGET_XFER_E_UNAVAILABLE. That's sufficient when you're either
interested in either having the whole of the 512 bytes available,
or erroring out. But, in this scenario, we're interested in
the data at [150,512). The problem is that the last
TARGET_XFER_E_UNAVAILABLE gives us no indication where to
start the read next. We'd need something like:

This naturally implies pushing down the decision of whether
to return TARGET_XFER_E_UNAVAILABLE or something else
down to the target. (Which kinds of leads back to tfile
itself reading from RO memory from file (though we could
export a function in exec.c for that that tfile delegates to,
instead of re-adding the old code).
Beside this change, we also add a macro TARGET_XFER_STATUS_ERROR_P to
check whether a status is an error or not, to stop using "status < 0".
This patch also eliminates the comparison between status and 0.
No target implementations to to_xfer_partial adapts this new
interface. The interface still behaves as before.

are all auto-activated and, I think, should never be explicitly

gdb_byte should be used for bytes from the program being debugged. We
have many places using char or unsigned char instead all over the
existing ports, and more ends up added over time due to copy/paste as
new code is based on old code.
I've greped the tree for "char buf[", and fixed all I found.
Tested by building with --enable-targets=all.
