2023-02-10gdb/source: Fix open_source_file error handlingAaron Merey1-1/+1
open_source_file relies on errno to communicate the reason for a missing source file. open_source_file may also call debuginfod_find_source. It is possible for debuginfod_find_source to set errno to a value unrelated to the reason for a failed download. This can result in bogus error messages being reported as the reason for a missing source file. The following error message should instead be "No such file or directory": Temporary breakpoint 1, 0x00005555556f4de0 in main () (gdb) list Downloading source file /usr/src/debug/glibc-2.36-8.fc37.x86_64/elf/<built-in> 1 /usr/src/debug/glibc-2.36-8.fc37.x86_64/elf/<built-in>: Directory not empty. Fix this by having open_source_file return a negative errno if it fails to open a source file. Use this value to generate the error message instead of errno. 2023-01-01Update copyright year range in header of all files managed by GDBJoel Brobecker1-1/+1
This commit is the result of running the gdb/copyright.py script, which automated the update of the copyright year range for all source files managed by the GDB project to be updated to include year 2023.
2022-04-07gdb: remove symtab::objfileSimon Marchi1-2/+3
Same idea as previous patch, but for symtab::objfile. I find it clearer without this wrapper, as it shows that the objfile is common to all symtabs of a given compunit. Otherwise, you could think that each symtab (of a given compunit) can have a specific objfile. Change-Id: Ifc0dbc7ec31a06eefa2787c921196949d5a6fcc6
2022-03-29Unify gdb printf functionsTom Tromey1-4/+4
Now that filtered and unfiltered output can be treated identically, we can unify the printf family of functions. This is done under the name "gdb_printf". Most of this patch was written by script.
2022-02-06gdb: remove SYMTAB_OBJFILE macroSimon Marchi1-2/+2
Remove the macro, replace with an equivalent method. Change-Id: I8f9ecd290ad28502e53c1ceca5006ba78bf042eb
2022-02-06gdb: remove SYMTAB_LANGUAGE macro, add getter/setterSimon Marchi1-1/+1
Add a getter and a setter for a symtab's language. Remove the corresponding macro and adjust all callers. Change-Id: I9f4d840b11c19f80f39bac1bce020fdd1739e11f
2022-01-12gdb: add 'maint set/show gnu-source-highlight enabled' commandAndrew Burgess1-1/+71
In a later commit I want to address an issue with the Python pygments based code styling solution. As this approach is only used when the GNU Source Highlight library is not available, testing bugs in this area can be annoying, as it requires GDB to be rebuilt with use of GNU Source Highlight disabled. This commit adds a pair of new maintenance commands: maintenance set gnu-source-highlight enabled on|off maintenance show gnu-source-highlight enabled these commands can be used to disable use of the GNU Source Highlight library, allowing me, in a later commit, to easily test bugs that would otherwise be masked by GNU Source Highlight being used. I made this a maintenance command, rather than a general purpose command, as it didn't seem like this was something a general user would need to adjust. We can always convert the maintenance command to a general command later if needed. There's no test for this here, but this feature will be used in a later commit.
2022-01-12gdb: erase items from the source_cache::m_offset_cacheAndrew Burgess1-4/+7
The source_cache class has two member variables m_source_map, which stores the file contents, and m_offset_cache, which stores offsets into the file contents. As source files are read the contents of the file, as well as the offset data, are stored in the cache using these two member variables. Whenever GDB needs either the files contents, or the offset data, source_cache::ensure is called. This function looks for the file in m_source_map, and if it's found then this implies the file is also in m_offset_cache, and we're done. If the file is not in m_source_map then GDB calls source_cache::get_plain_source_lines to open the file and read its contents. ::get_plain_source_lines also calculates the offset data, which is then inserted into m_offset_cache. Back in ::ensure, the file contents are added into m_source_map. And finally, if m_source_map contains more than MAX_ENTRIES, an entry is removed from m_source_map. The problem is entries are not removed from m_offset_cache at the same time. This means that if a program contains enough source files, GDB will hold at most MAX_ENTRIES cached source file contents, but can contain offsets data for every source file. Now, the offsets data is going to be smaller than the cached file contents, so maybe there's no harm here. But, when we reload the file contents we always recalculate the offsets data. And, when we ::get_line_charpos asking for offset data we still call ::ensure which will ends up loading and caching the file contents. So, given the current code does the work of reloading the offset data anyway, we may as well save memory by capping m_offset_cache to MAX_ENTRIES just like we do m_source_map. That's what this commit does. There should be no user visible changes after this commit, except for ever so slightly lower memory usage in some cases.
2022-01-12gdb: new 'maint flush source-cache' commandAndrew Burgess1-0/+14
This commit adds a new 'maint flush source-cache' command, this flushes the cache of source file contents. After flushing GDB is forced to reread source files the next time any source lines are to be displayed. I've added a test for this new feature. The test is a little weird, in that it modifies a source file after compilation, and makes use of the cache flush so that the changes show up when listing the source file. I'm not sure when such a situation would ever crop up in real life, but maybe we can imagine such cases. In reality, this command is useful for testing the syntax highlighting within GDB, we can adjust the syntax highlighting settings, flush the cache, and then get the file contents re-highlighted using the new settings.
2022-01-01Automatic Copyright Year update after running gdb/copyright.pyJoel Brobecker1-1/+1
This commit brings all the changes made by running gdb/copyright.py as per GDB's Start of New Year Procedure. For the avoidance of doubt, all changes in this commits were performed by the script.

2020-10-29Remove the exec_bfd macroTom Tromey1-1/+1
This removes the exec_bfd macro, in favor of new accessors on program_space. In one spot the accessor can't be used; but this is still a big improvement over the macro, IMO. gdb/ChangeLog 2020-10-29 Tom Tromey <tom@tromey.com> * windows-tdep.c (windows_solib_create_inferior_hook): Update. * symfile.c (reread_symbols): Update. * symfile-mem.c (add_symbol_file_from_memory_command) (add_vsyscall_page): Update. * source-cache.c (source_cache::get_plain_source_lines): Update. * solib-svr4.c (find_program_interpreter, elf_locate_base) (svr4_current_sos_direct, svr4_exec_displacement) (svr4_relocate_main_executable): Update. 2020-02-06gdb: Catch exceptions if the source file is not foundShahab Vahedi1-18/+21
The source_cache::ensure method may throw an exception through the invocation of source_cache::get_plain_source_lines. This happens when the source file is not found. The expected behaviour of "ensure" is only returning "true" or "false" according to the documentation in the header file. So far, if gdb is in source layout and a file is missing, you see some outputs like below: ,---------------------------------------------. | test.c file is loaded in the source window. | | | | int main() | | ... | |---------------------------------------------| | Remote debugging using :1234 | | __start () at /path/to/crt0.S:141 | | /path/to/crt0.S: No such file or directory. | | (gdb) p/x $pc | | $1 = 0x124 | | (gdb) n | | /path/to/crt0.S: No such file or directory. | | (gdb) p/x $pc | | $2 = 0x128 | | (gdb) [pressing arrow-down key] | | (gdb) terminate called after throwing an | | instance of 'gdb_exception_error' | `---------------------------------------------' Other issues have been encountered as well [1]. The patch from Pedro [2] which is about preventing exceptions from crossing the "readline" mitigates the situation by not causing gdb crash, but still there are lots of errors printed: ,---------------------------------------------. | test.c file is loaded in the source window. | | | | int main() | | ... | |---------------------------------------------| | Remote debugging using :1234 | | __start () at /path/to/crt0.S:141 | | /path/to/crt0.S: No such file or directory. | | (gdb) [pressing arrow-down key] | | /path/to/crt0.S: No such file or directory. | | (gdb) [pressing arrow-down key] | | /path/to/crt0.S: No such file or directory. | | (gdb) [pressing arrow-up key] | | /path/to/crt0.S: No such file or directory. | `---------------------------------------------' With the changes of this patch, the behavior is like: ,---------------------------------------------. | initially, source window is empty because | | crt0.S is not found and according to the | | program counter that is the piece of code | | being executed. | | | | later, when we break at main (see commands | | below), this window will be filled with the | | the contents of test.c file. | |---------------------------------------------| | Remote debugging using :1234 | | __start () at /path/to/crt0.S:141 | | (gdb) p/x $pc | | $1 = 0x124 | | (gdb) n | | (gdb) p/x $pc | | $2 = 0x128 | | (gdb) b main | | Breakpoint 1 at 0x334: file test.c, line 8. | | (gdb) cont | | Continuing. | | Breakpoint 1, main () at hello.c:8 | | (gdb) n | | (gdb) | `---------------------------------------------' There is no crash and the error message is completely gone. Maybe it is good practice that the error is shown inside the source window. I tested this change against gdb.base/list-missing-source.exp and there was no regression. [1] It has also been observed in the past that the register values are not transferred from qemu's gdb stub, see: https://github.com/foss-for-synopsys-dwc-arc-processors/toolchain/issues/226 [2] https://sourceware.org/git/?p=binutils-gdb.git;a=commit;h=2f267673f0fdee9287e6d404ecd4f2d29da0d2f2 gdb/ChangeLog: * source-cache.c (source_cache::ensure): Surround get_plain_source_lines with a try/catch. 2020-01-21Allow use of Pygments to colorize source codeTom Tromey1-2/+12
While GNU Source Highlight is good, it's also difficult to build and distribute. For one thing, it needs Boost. For another, it has an unusual configuration and installation setup. Pygments, a Python library, doesn't suffer from these issues, and so I thought it would be a reasonable fallback. This patch implements this idea. GNU Source Highlight is preferred, but if it is unavailable (or fails), the extension languages are tried. This patch also implements support for Pygments. Something similar could be done for Guile, using: https://dthompson.us/projects/guile-syntax-highlight.html However, I don't know enough about Guile internals to make this happen, so I have not done it here. gdb/ChangeLog 2020-01-21 Tom Tromey <tromey@adacore.com> * source-cache.c (source_cache::ensure): Call ext_lang_colorize. * python/python.c (python_extension_ops): Update. 2020-01-13gdb: add back declarations for _initialize functionsSimon Marchi1-0/+1
I'd like to enable the -Wmissing-declarations warning. However, it warns for every _initialize function, for example: CXX dcache.o /home/smarchi/src/binutils-gdb/gdb/dcache.c: In function ‘void _initialize_dcache()’: /home/smarchi/src/binutils-gdb/gdb/dcache.c:688:1: error: no previous declaration for ‘void _initialize_dcache()’ [-Werror=missing-declarations] _initialize_dcache (void) ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The only practical way forward I found is to add back the declarations, which were removed by this commit: commit 481695ed5f6e0a8a9c9c50bfac1cdd2b3151e6c9 Author: John Baldwin <jhb@FreeBSD.org> Date: Sat Sep 9 11:02:37 2017 -0700 Remove unnecessary function prototypes. 2020-01-01Update copyright year range in all GDB files.Joel Brobecker1-1/+1
gdb/ChangeLog: Update copyright year range in all GDB files.
2019-09-19[gdb] Catch exception when constructing the highlighterTom de Vries1-6/+6
Currently in source_cache::ensure we catch the exception that triggers when highlighter->highlight is called: ... try { std::istringstream input (contents); std::ostringstream output; highlighter->highlight (input, output, lang_name, fullname); ... and the file used earlier in the construction of the highlighter: ... highlighter = new srchilite::SourceHighlight ("esc.outlang"); ... is missing. The fact that this exception triggers when highlighter->highlight is called is an implementation artefact of libsource-highlight.so though, and this could be different for older or newer versions. Make things more robust by also catching exceptions thrown during construction of the highlighter. This makes the handling on master equivalent with what has been committed for 8.3.1. Tested on x86_64-linux. gdb/ChangeLog: 2019-09-19 Tom de Vries <tdevries@suse.de> PR gdb/25009 * source-cache.c (source_cache::ensure): Catch exception thrown during construction of the highlighter.
2019-09-17gdb: Catch exceptions when accessing source cacheAndrew Burgess1-10/+17
The source_cache::get_line_charpos function can currently throw an exception if the source file is missing, which doesn't match the expected behaviour documented in the functions header file. The documented behaviour is to return false on failure, and this is how the function appears to be used throughout GDB. I spotted this in the 'info source' command, currently for a missing source file you'll see something like this: (gdb) info source Current source file is /path/to/src/file.c Compilation directory is /path/to/build/ /path/to/src/file.c: No such file or directory. (gdb) After this patch we see this: (gdb) info source Current source file is /path/to/src/file.c Compilation directory is /path/to/build/ Source language is c. Producer is COMPILER VERSION AND FLAGS. Compiled with DWARF 2 debugging format. Does not include preprocessor macro info. We don't currently indicate that the source file can't be found, and maybe that would be something worth adding in the future. gdb/ChangeLog: * source-cache.c (source_cache::get_line_charpos): Catch exceptions and return false, this matches the behaviour documented in the header file. gdb/testsuite/ChangeLog: * gdb.base/list-missing-source.exp: New file.
2019-08-19Add Rust support to source highlightingTom Tromey1-7/+17
Currently, no release of GNU Source Highlight supports Rust. However, I've checked in a patch to do so there, and I plan to make a new release sometime this summer. This patch prepares gdb for that by adding support for Rust to the source highlighting code. Because Source Highlight will throw an exception if the language is unrecognized, this also changes gdb to ignore exceptions here. This will cause gdb to fall back to un-highlighted source text. This updates gdb's configure script to reject the combination of Source Highlight and -static-libstdc++. This is done because it's not possible to use -static-libstdc++ and then catch exceptions from a shared library. Tested with the current and development versions of Source Highlight. gdb/ChangeLog 2019-08-19 Tom Tromey <tom@tromey.com> * configure: Rebuild. * configure.ac: Disallow the combination of -static-libstdc++ and source highlight. * source-cache.c (get_language_name): Handle rust. (source_cache::get_source_lines): Ignore highlighting exceptions.
2019-08-06Add file offsets to the source cacheTom Tromey1-58/+135
Currently, gdb stores the number of lines and an array of file offsets for the start of each line in struct symtab. This patch moves this information to the source cache. This has two benefits. First, it allows gdb to read a source file less frequently. Currently, a source file may be read multiple times: once when computing the file offsets, once when highlighting, and then pieces may be read again while printing source lines. With this change, the file is read once for its source text and file offsets; and then perhaps read again if it is evicted from the cache. Second, if multiple symtabs cover the same source file, then this will share the file offsets between them. I'm not sure whether this happens in practice. gdb/ChangeLog 2019-08-06 Tom Tromey <tromey@adacore.com> * annotate.c (annotate_source_line): Use g_source_cache. * source-cache.c (source_cache::get_plain_source_lines): Change parameters. 2019-08-06Save plain text in the source cacheTom Tromey1-71/+43
Currently the source cache will only store highlighted text. However, there's no reason it could not also store plain text, when styling is turned off. This patch makes this change. This also simplifies the source cache code somewhat. gdb/ChangeLog 2019-08-06 Tom Tromey <tromey@adacore.com> * source-cache.c (source_cache::get_plain_source_lines): Remove "first_line" and "last_line" parameters. (source_cache::get_source_lines): Cache plain text. * source-cache.h (class source_cache) <get_plain_source_lines>: Update.
2019-08-06Fix latent bug in source cacheTom Tromey1-11/+38
The source cache was not returning the final \n of the requested range of lines. This caused regressions with later patches in this series, so this patch pre-emptively fixes the bug. This adds a self-test of "extract_lines" to the source cache code. To make it simpler to test, I changed extract_lines to be a static function, and changed it's API a bit. gdb/ChangeLog 2019-08-06 Tom Tromey <tromey@adacore.com> * source-cache.c (extract_lines): No longer a method. Changed type of parameter. Include final newline. (selftests::extract_lines_test): New function. (_initialize_source_cache): Likewise. * source-cache.h (class source_cache) <extract_lines>: Don't declare.
2019-07-10Don't include gdbarch.h from defs.hTom Tromey1-0/+1
I touched symtab.h and was surprised to see how many files were rebuilt. I looked into it a bit, and found that defs.h includes gdbarch.h, which in turn includes many things. gdbarch.h is only needed by a minority ofthe files in gdb, so this patch removes the include from defs.h and updates the fallout. I did "wc -l" on the files in build/gdb/.deps; this patch reduces the line count from 139935 to 137030; so there are definitely future build-time savings here. Note that while I configured with --enable-targets=all, it's possible that some *-nat.c file needs an update. I could not test all of these. The buildbot caught a few problems along these lines. gdb/ChangeLog 2019-07-10 Tom Tromey <tom@tromey.com> * defs.h: Don't include gdbarch.h. * aarch64-ravenscar-thread.c, aarch64-tdep.c, alpha-bsd-tdep.h, alpha-linux-tdep.c, alpha-mdebug-tdep.c, arch-utils.h, arm-tdep.h, ax-general.c, btrace.c, buildsym-legacy.c, buildsym.h, c-lang.c, cli/cli-decode.h, cli/cli-dump.c, cli/cli-script.h, cli/cli-style.h, coff-pe-read.h, compile/compile-c-support.c, compile/compile-cplus.h, compile/compile-loc2c.c, corefile.c, cp-valprint.c, cris-linux-tdep.c, ctf.c, d-lang.c, d-namespace.c, dcache.c, dicos-tdep.c, dictionary.c, disasm-selftests.c, dummy-frame.c, dummy-frame.h, dwarf2-frame-tailcall.c, dwarf2expr.c, expression.h, f-lang.c, frame-base.c, frame-unwind.c, frv-linux-tdep.c, gdbarch-selftests.c, gdbtypes.h, go-lang.c, hppa-nbsd-tdep.c, hppa-obsd-tdep.c, i386-dicos-tdep.c, i386-tdep.h, ia64-vms-tdep.c, interps.h, language.c, linux-record.c, location.h, m2-lang.c, m32r-linux-tdep.c, mem-break.c, memattr.c, mn10300-linux-tdep.c, nios2-linux-tdep.c, objfiles.h, opencl-lang.c, or1k-linux-tdep.c, p-lang.c, parser-defs.h, ppc-tdep.h, probe.h, python/py-record-btrace.c, record-btrace.c, record.h, regcache-dump.c, regcache.h, riscv-fbsd-tdep.c, riscv-linux-tdep.c, rust-exp.y, sh-linux-tdep.c, sh-nbsd-tdep.c, source-cache.c, sparc-nbsd-tdep.c, sparc-obsd-tdep.c, sparc-ravenscar-thread.c, sparc64-fbsd-tdep.c, std-regs.c, target-descriptions.h, target-float.c, tic6x-linux-tdep.c, tilegx-linux-tdep.c, top.c, tracefile.c, trad-frame.c, type-stack.h, ui-style.c, utils.c, utils.h, valarith.c, valprint.c, varobj.c, x86-tdep.c, xml-support.h, xtensa-linux-tdep.c, cli/cli-cmds.h: Update. * s390-linux-nat.c, procfs.c, inf-ptrace.c: Likewise.
2019-07-09Rename common to gdbsupportTom Tromey1-1/+1
This is the next patch in the ongoing series to move gdbsever to the top level. This patch just renames the "common" directory. The idea is to do this move in two parts: first rename the directory (this patch), then move the directory to the top. This approach makes the patches a bit more tractable. I chose the name "gdbsupport" for the directory. However, as this patch was largely written by sed, we could pick a new name without too much difficulty. Tested by the buildbot. gdb/ChangeLog 2019-07-09 Tom Tromey <tom@tromey.com> * contrib/ari/gdb_ari.sh: Change common to gdbsupport. * configure: Rebuild. * configure.ac: Change common to gdbsupport. * 2019-06-19Instantiate a single source highlighterTom Tromey1-3/+14
It occurred to me that there's no reason to make a new source highlighter each time gdb needs to highlight some source code. Instead, a single one can be created and then simply reused each time. This patch implements this idea. Tested on x86-64 Fedora 29. gdb/ChangeLog 2019-06-19 Tom Tromey <tromey@adacore.com> * source-cache.c (highlighter): New global. (source_cache::get_source_lines): Create a highlighter on demand.
2019-06-15gdb: New function to open source file and compute line charpos dataAndrew Burgess1-6/+2
Every place that a symtab's line_charpos data is loaded always follows the same pattern, so create a new function to contain this logic and make use of it throughout GDB. There should be no user visible changes after this commit. gdb/ChangeLog: * source-cache.c (source_cache::get_plain_source_lines): Use open_source_file_with_line_charpos instead of just open_source_file, remove call to find_source_lines. (source_cache::get_source_lines): Likewise. * source.c (find_source_lines): Make static. (get_filename_and_charpos): Renamed into... (open_source_file_with_line_charpos): ..this along with changes to return a scoped_fd, and some other minor clean ups. (identify_source_line): Use open_source_file_with_line_charpos. (search_command_helper): Use open_source_file_with_line_charpos instead of just open_source_file, remove call to find_source_lines. * source.h (open_source_file_with_line_charpos): Declare new function. (find_source_lines): Delete declaration.
2019-04-27Have 'thread|frame apply' style their output.Philippe Waroquiers1-1/+1
'thread|frame apply CMD' launches CMD so that CMD output goes to a string_file. This patch ensures that string_file for such CMD output contains style escape sequences that 'thread|frame apply' will later on output on the real terminal, so as to have CMD output properly styled. The idea is to have the class ui_file having overridable methods to indicate that the output to this ui_file should be done using 'terminal' behaviour such as styling. Then these methods are overriden in string_file so that a specially constructed string_file will get output with style escape sequences. After this patch, the output of CMD by thread|frame apply CMD is styled similarly as when CMD is launched directly. Note that string_file (term_out true) could also support wrapping, but this is not done (yet?). Tested on debian/amd64. gdb/ChangeLog 2019-04-27 Philippe Waroquiers <philippe.waroquiers@skynet.be> Support style in 'frame|thread apply' * gdbcmd.h (execute_command_to_string): New term_out parameter. * record.c (record_start, record_stop): Update callers of execute_command_to_string with false. * ui-file.h (class ui_file): New term_out and can_emit_style_escape methods. 2019-03-25Fix use-after-free in source_cache::get_source_linesSimon Marchi1-0/+6
Commit ab42892fb7d2 ("Fix vertical scrolling of TUI source window") introduced a use-after-free in source_cache::get_source_lines. At the beginning of the method, we get the fullname of the symtab: const char *fullname = symtab_to_fullname (s); fullname points to the string owned by the symtab (s.fullname). When we later do scoped_fd desc = open_source_file (s); s.fullname gets reallocated (even though the string contents may not change). The fullname local variable now points to freed memory. To avoid it, refresh the value of fullname after calling open_source_file. Here is the ASan report: $ ./gdb -nx --data-directory=data-directory ./a.out (gdb) start Temporary breakpoint 1 at 0x1130: file test.cpp, line 12. 2019-03-16Fix vertical scrolling of TUI source windowEli Zaretskii1-0/+7
gdb/ChangeLog: 2019-03-16 Eli Zaretskii <eliz@gnu.org> * source-cache.c (source_cache::get_source_lines): Call find_source_lines to initialize s->nlines. This fixes vertical scrolling of TUI source window when the DOWN arrow is pressed.
2019-03-14Avoid a crash in source_cache::extract_linesTom Tromey1-8/+13
If the first requested line is larger than the number of lines in the source buffer, source_cache::extract_lines could crash, because it would try to pass string::npos" to string::substr. This patch avoids the crash by checking for this case. This version of the patch changes get_source_lines to return std::string. gdb/ChangeLog 2019-03-14 Tom Tromey <tromey@adacore.com> * source-cache.h (class source_cache) <get_source_lines>: Return std::string. * source-cache.c (source_cache::extract_lines): Handle case where first_pos==npos. Return std::string. (source_cache::get_source_lines): Update.
2019-03-14Add the "set style source" commandTom Tromey1-1/+1
This adds "set style source" (and "show style source") commands. This gives the user control over whether source code is highlighted. gdb/ChangeLog 2019-03-14 Tom Tromey <tromey@adacore.com> * NEWS: Add item for "style sources" commands. * source-cache.c (source_cache::get_source_lines): Check source_styling. * cli/cli-style.c (source_styling): New global. (_initialize_cli_style): Add "style sources" commands. (show_style_sources): New function. * cli/cli-style.h (source_styling): Declare. gdb/doc/ChangeLog 2019-03-14 Tom Tromey <tromey@adacore.com> * gdb.texinfo (Output Styling): Document "set style source" and "show style source". gdb/testsuite/ChangeLog 2019-03-14 Tom Tromey <tromey@adacore.com> * gdb.base/style.exp: Add "set style sources" test.
2019-03-12Fix MinGW build with source-highlightEli Zaretskii1-0/+6
gdb/ChangeLog 2019-03-12 Eli Zaretskii <eliz@gnu.org> PR/24325 * source-cache.c: #undef open and close, to avoid unresolved externals during linking.
2019-01-01Update copyright year range in all GDB files.Joel Brobecker1-1/+1
This commit applies all changes made after running the gdb/copyright.py script. Note that one file was flagged by the script, due to an invalid copyright header (gdb/unittests/basic_string_view/element_access/char/empty.cc). As the file was copied from GCC's libstdc++-v3 testsuite, this commit leaves this file untouched for the time being; a patch to fix the header was sent to gcc-patches first. gdb/ChangeLog: Update copyright year range in all GDB files.
2018-12-28Fix the build when GNU Source Highlight is not availableTom Tromey1-0/+4
The builder pointed out that, when GNU Source Highlight is not available, get_language_name is not used. This patch makes it conditional, fixing the build problem. gdb/ChangeLog 2018-12-28 Tom Tromey <tom@tromey.com> * source-cache.c (get_language_name): Conditionally compile.
2018-12-28Highlight source code using GNU Source HighlightTom Tromey1-0/+209
This changes gdb to highlight source using GNU Source Highlight, if it is available. This affects the output of the "list" command and also the TUI source window. No new test because I didn't see a way to make it work when Source Highlight is not found. gdb/ChangeLog 2018-12-28 Tom Tromey <tom@tromey.com> * utils.h (can_emit_style_escape): Declare. * utils.c (can_emit_style_escape): No longer static. * cli/cli-style.c (set_style_enabled): New function.
