This patch is purely mechanical. It removes gdb_stat.h and changes
the code to use sys/stat.h.

This removes gdb_dirent.h and updates the code to use dirent.h
instead. It also removes the now-useless configure checks.

This patch constifies the target_ops method to_detach.
This is a small cleanup, but also, I think, a bug-prevention fix,
since gdb already acts as if the "args" argument here was const.
In particular, top.c:quit_force calls kill_or_detach via
iterate_over_inferiors. kill_or_detach calls target_detach, passing
the same argument each time. So, if one of these methods was not
const-correct, then kill_or_detach would change its behavior in a
strange way.
I could not build every target I modified in this patch. I've
inspected them all by hand, though. Many targets do not use the
"args" parameter; a couple pass it to atoi; and a few pass it on to
the to_detach method of the target beneath. The only code that
required a real change was in linux-nat.c, and that only needed the
introduction of a temporary variable for const-correctness.

startup-with-shell" option.
Occasionaly we hear about people having problems with GDB not being
able to start programs (with "run"/"start"). GDB spawns a shell to
start the program, and most often, it'll be the case that the problem
is actually with the user's shell setup.
GDB has code to disable the use of the shell to start programs.
That's the STARTUP_WITH_SHELL macro that native targets could set to 0
in their nm.h file (though no target actually uses it nowadays).
This patch makes that setting a run-time knob instead. This will be
useful to quickly diagnose such shell issues, and might also come in
handy at other times (such as when debugging the shell itself, if you
don't have a different shell handy).

The function proc_find_memory_regions calls iterate_over_mappings as
follow:

The problem is that both func and find_memory_regions_callback
do not match the profile expected by iterate_over_mappings:

We cannot change proc_find_memory_regions such that FUNC is a pointer
to a function that takes no argument (in place of the 6 that it has).
This is because proc_find_memory_regions is used as a target_ops method.
However, it turns out that changing iterate_over_mappings to conform
to the profile imposed by the target_ops vector is possible without
much effort.

There are currently 2 issues with the placement of this routine:
- It's defined after it is being used (causing an implicit declaration);
- It looks like it's being defined all the time, whereas it is used
only on mips-irix (AFAICT) - shouldn't have this triggered a warning
on sparc-solaris, for instance???
In any case, this patch moves this function up, inside the right region,
just before the function where it is actually used.

These two functions are only used from procfs_make_note_section, which
itself is only defined if:
#if defined (UNIXWARE) || defined (PIOCOPENLWP) || defined (PCAGENT)
So these two functions are unused on mips-irix, and they get flagged
by -Wunused-function. This patch simply moves these functions closer
to the function that uses them, which also has the effect of putting
them inside the same #if block as procfs_make_note_section. Thus
they are defined only when used.

Support Valgrind attachments broken by the PIE support.
* auxv.c: Include gdbcore.h.
(procfs_xfer_auxv): Make static. Reduce its comment. Drop its
parameters ops, object and annex. Remove their assertions.
(ld_so_xfer_auxv, memory_xfer_auxv): New function.
* auxv.h (procfs_xfer_auxv): Remove comment. Rename to ...
(memory_xfer_auxv): ... here.
* linux-nat.c (linux_xfer_partial): Rename procfs_xfer_auxv to
memory_xfer_auxv.

* solib-svr4.c (svr4_relocate_main_executable): New prototype.
