I've had this patch for a while now and figured I'd update it and send
it. It changes MI commands to use a "const char * const" for their
argv parameter.
Regression tested on x86-64 Fedora 36.

This commit is the result of running the gdb/copyright.py script,
which automated the update of the copyright year range for all
source files managed by the GDB project to be updated to include
year 2023.
|
|
This commit brings all the changes made by running gdb/copyright.py
as per GDB's Start of New Year Procedure.
For the avoidance of doubt, all changes in this commits were
performed by the script.

Just give this class a new name, more inline with the name of the
sub-classes. I've also updated mi_cmd_up to mi_command_up in
mi-cmds.c inline with this new naming scheme.
There should be no user visible changes after this commit.

Lets give this function a more descriptive name. I've also improved
the comments in the header and source files.
There should be no user visible changes after this commit.

Update copyright year range in copyright header of all GDB files.

gdb/ChangeLog:
Update copyright year range in all GDB files.
|
|
This commit applies all changes made after running the gdb/copyright.py
script.
Note that one file was flagged by the script, due to an invalid
copyright header
(gdb/unittests/basic_string_view/element_access/char/empty.cc).
As the file was copied from GCC's libstdc++-v3 testsuite, this commit
leaves this file untouched for the time being; a patch to fix the header
was sent to gcc-patches first.

This introduces ui_out_emit_table, similar to the other existing

This patch changes various places to use ui_out_emit_tuple,
eliminating a number of cleanups. This patch only tackles "easy"
cases, which are ones where the cleanups in question were
block-structured and did not involve any changes other than the
obvious replacement.

-Wwrite-strings flags this attempt to convert a string literal to
"char *":
info_osdata_command ("", 0);
info_osdata_command is a command function. We could address this by
simply passing NULL instead of "". However, I went a little bit
further and added a new function that is called by both the CLI and
MI.
gdb/ChangeLog:
2017-04-05 Pedro Alves <palves@redhat.com>
* mi/mi-cmd-info.c (mi_cmd_info_os): Call info_osdata instead of
info_osdata_command.

* osdata.h (info_osdata_command): Remove declaration.
(info_osdata): New declaration.

This applies the second part of GDB's End of Year Procedure, which
updates the copyright year range in all of GDB's files.
gdb/ChangeLog:
Update copyright year range in all GDB files.
|

This patch finalizes the C++ conversion of the ui-out subsystem, by
turning the ui_out and ui_out_impl structures into a single class
hierarchy. ui_out functions are turned into virtual methods of that new
class, so as a result there are a lot of call sites to update.
In the previous version of the patchset, there were separate ui_out and
ui_out_impl classes, but it wasn't really useful and added boilerplate.
In this version there is simply an ui_out base class that is
extended for CLI, TUI and MI.
It's a bit hard to maintain a ChangeLog for such a big patch, I did my
best but I'm sure there are some missing or outdated info in there...

gdb/ChangeLog:
Update year range in copyright notice of all files.

This patch adds a new GDB/MI command meant for graphical frontends
trying to determine whether a given GDB/MI command exists or not.
Examples:
-info-gdb-mi-command unsupported-command
^done,command={exists="false"}
(gdb)
-info-gdb-mi-command symbol-list-lines
^done,command={exists="true"}
(gdb)
At the moment, this is the only piece of information that this
command returns.
Eventually, and if needed, we can extend it to provide
command-specific pieces of information, such as updates to
the command's syntax since inception. This could become,
for instance:
-info-gdb-mi-command symbol-list-lines
^done,command={exists="true",features=[]}
(gdb)
-info-gdb-mi-command catch-assert
^done,command={exists="true",features=["conditions"]}
In the first case, it would mean that no extra features,
while in the second, it announces that the -catch-assert
command in this version of the debugger supports a feature
called "condition" - exact semantics to be documented with
combined with the rest of the queried command's documentation.
But for now, we start small, and only worry about existance.
And to bootstrap the process, I have added an entry in the
output of the -list-features command as well ("info-gdb-mi-command"),
allowing the graphical frontends to go through the following process:
1. Send -list-features, collect info from there as before;
2. Check if the output contains "info-gdb-mi-command".
If it does, then support for various commands can be
queried though -info-gdb-mi-command. Newer commands
will be expected to always be checked via this new
-info-gdb-mi-command.
gdb/ChangeLog:
* mi/mi-cmds.h (mi_cmd_info_gdb_mi_command): Declare.
* mi/mi-cmd-info.c (mi_cmd_info_gdb_mi_command): New function.
* mi/mi-cmds.c (mi_cmds): Add -info-gdb-mi-command command.
* mi/mi-main.c (mi_cmd_list_features): Add "info-gdb-mi-command"
field to output of "-list-features".
* NEWS: Add entry for new -info-gdb-mi-command.
gdb/doc/ChangeLog:
* gdb.texinfo (GDB/MI Miscellaneous Commands): Document
the new -info-gdb-mi-command GDB/MI command. Document
the meaning of "-info-gdb-mi-command" in the output of
-list-features.
gdb/testsuite/ChangeLog:
* gdb.mi/mi-i-cmd.exp: New file.

This patch implements a new GDB/MI command implementing the equivalent
of the "info exceptions" CLI command. The command syntax is:
-info-ada-exceptions [REGEXP]
Here is an example of usage (slightly formatted by hand to make it
easier to read):
-info-ada-exceptions ions\.a_
^done,ada-exceptions=
{nr_rows="2",nr_cols="2",
hdr=[{width="1",alignment="-1",col_name="name",colhdr="Name"},
{width="1",alignment="-1",col_name="address",colhdr="Address"}],
body=[{name="global_exceptions.a_global_exception",
address="0x0000000000613a80"},
{name="global_exceptions.a_private_exception",
address="0x0000000000613ac0"}]}
Also, in order to allow graphical frontends to easily determine
whether this command is available or not, the output of the
"-list-features" command has been augmented to contain
"info-ada-exceptions".
gdb/Changelog:
* mi/mi-cmds.h (mi_cmd_info_ada_exceptions): Add declaration.
* mi/mi-cmds.c (mi_cmds): Add entry for -info-ada-exceptions
command.
* mi/mi-cmd-info.c: #include "ada-lang.c" and "arch-utils.c".
(mi_cmd_info_ada_exceptions): New function.
* mi/mi-main.c (mi_cmd_list_features): Add "info-ada-exceptions".
gdb/testsuite/ChangeLog:
* gdb.ada/mi_exc_info: New testcase.

Two modifications:
1. The addition of 2013 to the copyright year range for every file;
2. The use of a single year range, instead of potentially multiple
year ranges, as approved by the FSF.
