2017-09-05Share i386-linux target description between GDB and GDBserverYao Qi1-2/+3
The code on creating i386-linux target descriptions are quite similar between GDB and GDBserver, so this patch moves them into a shared file arch/i386.c. I didn't name it as i386-linux.c, because I want to reuse it to create other i386 non-linux target descriptions later. gdb: 2017-09-05 Yao Qi <yao.qi@linaro.org> * Makefile.in (ALL_TARGET_OBS): Add i386.o. 2017-04-12gdb: Move DJGPP/go32 bits to their own tdep filePedro Alves1-0/+4
I posit that this makes them easier to find. The other day while working on the wchar_t patch, I had a bit of trouble finding the DJGPP/go32 tdep bits. My initial reaction was looking for a go32-specific tdep file, but there's none. Confirmed that a --host=i586-pc-msdosdjgpp GDB still builds successfully and includes the i386-go32-tdep.o object. Confirmed that an --enable-targets=all build of GDB on x86-64 GNU/Linux includes the DJGPP/go32 bits too. gdb/ChangeLog: 2017-04-12 Pedro Alves <palves@redhat.com> * Makefile.in (ALL_TARGET_OBS): Add i386-go32-tdep.o. * configure.tgt: Handle i[34567]86-*-go32* and i[34567]86-*-msdosdjgpp*. * i386-tdep.c (i386_svr4_reg_to_regnum): Make extern. (i386_go32_init_abi, i386_coff_osabi_sniffer): Moved to i386-go32-tdep.c. (_initialize_i386_tdep): DJGPP bits moved to i386-go32-tdep.c. * i386-go32-tdep.c: New file. * i386-tdep.h (tdesc_i386_mmx, i386_svr4_reg_to_regnum): New declarations.
2017-04-04Remove support for using the bsd-uthread target on FreeBSD.John Baldwin1-2/+2
The bsd-uthread target supports an old thread library ("libc_r") that was last included in FreeBSD release 6.4 released in 2008. However, this library has not been used as the default library since FreeBSD 5.0 (2003) and 4.11 (2005). Thread support for modern FreeBSD binaries is provided via "normal" LWP support in core files and the native FreeBSD target. gdb/ChangeLog: * amd64-fbsd-tdep.c: Remove "bsd-uthread.h" include. (amd64fbsd_jmp_buf_reg_offset): Remove. (amd64fbsd_supply_uthread): Remove function. (amd64fbsd_collect_uthread): Remove function. (amd64fbsd_init_abi): Don't set bsd-uthread callbacks. * configure.tgt (i[34567]86-*-freebsd*): Remove bsd-uthread.o. (x86_64-*-freebsd*): Remove bsd-uthread.o. (fbsd-nat.c): Update comment. * i386-fbsd-tdep.c: Remove "bsd-uthread.h" include. (i386fbsd_jmp_buf_reg_offset): Remove. (i386fbsd_supply_uthread): Remove function. (i386fbsd_collect_uthread): Remove function. (i386fbsd_init_abi): Don't set bsd-uthread callbacks.
2017-04-04Remove support for FreeBSD/alpha.John Baldwin1-5/+2
FreeBSD last shipped a release for Alpha (6.3) in 2008. This also removes support for GNU/kFreeBSD on Alpha. gdb/ChangeLog: * Makefile.in (ALL_64_TARGET_OBS): Remove alpha-fbsd-tdep.o. (ALLDEPFILES): Remove alpha-fbsd-tdep.c * NEWS: Mention that support for FreeBSD/alpha was removed. * alpha-fbsd-tdep.c: Delete file. * config/alpha/fbsd.mh: Delete file. * configure.host: Delete alpha*-*-freebsd* and alpha*-*-kfreebsd*-gnu. * configure.tgt: Delete alpha*-*-freebsd* and alpha*-*-kfreebsd*-gnu.
2017-01-04Add FreeBSD/mips architecture.John Baldwin1-0/+5
This has been tested for the n64 and o32 ABIs. Signal frame unwinders for both ABIs are provided. FreeBSD/mips requires custom linkmap offsets since it contains an additional l_off member in 'struct link_map' that other FreeBSD platforms do not have. Support for collecting and supplying general purpose and floating point register sets are provided. Common routines for working with native format register sets are exported for use by the native target. gdb/ChangeLog: * Makefile.in (ALL_TARGET_OBS): Add mips-fbsd-tdep.o. (ALLDEPFILES): Add mips-fbsd-tdep.c. * NEWS: Mention new FreeBSD/mips target. * configure.tgt: Add mips*-*-freebsd*. * mips-fbsd-tdep.c: New file. * mips-fbsd-tdep.h: New file. gdb/doc/ChangeLog: * gdb.texinfo (Contributors): Add SRI International and University of Cambridge for FreeBSD/mips.

2016-11-23Normalize names of some source filesSimon Marchi1-40/+40
Most tdep/nat files are named: <cpu>-<os>-tdep.c <cpu>-<os>-nat.c A few files do not respect this scheme. This patch renames them so that they are consistent with the rest of the files. It builds fine with --enable-targets=all, but that doesn't test the nat files. I can only hope that my grep skill is good enough. gdb/ChangeLog: * Makefile.in (ALL_64_TARGET_OBS, ALL_TARGET_OBS, HFILES_NO_SRCDIR, ALLDEPFILES): Rename files. * alphabsd-nat.c: Rename to ... * 2016-10-12arc: Add support for NewlibAnton Kolesov1-1/+6
Add support for Newlib as an OS/ABI. The only thing that is specific to it relatively to "generic" baremetal target is location of PC register in jump buffer for longjump support. Sniffer uses .ivt section to decide if ELF file is for ARC Newlib or not. gdb/ChangeLog: * arc-newlib-tdep.c: New file. * configure.tgt: Add newlib support for ARC.
2016-09-21arc: New Synopsys ARC portAnton Kolesov1-0/+5
ARC is a family of licensable processors developed by Synopsys. This is an initial patch that doesn't yet support some of the features, that are already available in Synopsys' fork of GDB, namely: * longjmp support * signal frame handling * prologue analysis * Linux targets support * native Linux support ARC cores are configurable and extensible, which means from debugger perspective that some registers and debug capabilities are optional, therefore it is up to the GDB stub to determine exact list of register available on target and supply it to GDB via XML target descriptions. List of registers that is known to GDB and is required is intentionally kept small to simplify requirements to GDB stub and implementation of a GDB client. gdb/ChangeLog: * Makefile.in (ALL_TARGET_OBS): Add arc-tdep.o. There has never been a GNU/sim port for the S+Core architecture. It was added to support private code that has (and most likely never will) see the light of day [1]. Punt this as we don't do this for other people. If you want to maintain a proprietary internal build, then that's not really our problem. 2015-12-18Support software single step on ARM in GDBServerAntoine Tremblay1-8/+12
This patch teaches GDBServer how to software single step on ARM linux by sharing code with GDB. The arm_get_next_pcs function in GDB is now shared with GDBServer. So that GDBServer can use the function to return the possible addresses of the next PC. A proper shared context was also needed so that we could share the code, this context is described in the arm_get_next_pcs structure. Testing : No regressions, tested on ubuntu 14.04 ARMv7 and x86. 2015-10-21Implement breakpoint_kind_from_pc and sw_breakpoint_from_kind for ARM in ↵Antoine Tremblay1-8/+8
GDBServer. ARM can have multiple breakpoint types based on the instruction set it's currently in: arm, thumb or thumb2. GDBServer needs to know what breakpoint is to be inserted at location when inserting a breakpoint. This is handled by the breakpoint_kind_from_pc and sw_breakpoint_from_kind target ops introduced in a previous patch, this patch adds the arm_breakpoint_kind_from_pc and arm_sw_breakpoint_from_kind implementation so that the proper breakpoint type is returned based on the pc. Also in order to share some code with GDB a new file called arm.c have been introduced in arch/. While this file does not contain much yet future patches will add more to it thus the inclusion at this stage. No regressions on Ubuntu 14.04 on ARMv7 and x86. 2015-07-07Native debug arm program by aarch64 GDBYao Qi1-0/+1
This patch is to let aarch64 GDB debug 32-bit arm program natively. In each function for fetching and storing registers, GDB will check gdbarch_bfd_arch_info (gdbarch)->bits_per_word, if it is 32, call the corresponding aarch32 functions in aarch32-linux-nat.c, otherwise fall back to aarch64 code to fetch and store registers. aarch64_linux_read_description has to return the right target description, but we don't have gdbarch available there, so GDB fetches auxv and gets AT_PHENT, in order to determine whether the target is 32-bit or 64-bit. 2014-10-17Delete Tru64 supportPedro Alves1-4/+1
This commit does most of the mechanical removal. IOW, the easy part. procfs.c isn't touched beyond removing a couple obvious bits that are guarded by a couple macros defined in config/alpha/nm-osf3.h. Going beyond that for procfs.c & co would be a harder excision that potentially affects Solaris. Some comments in the generic alpha code ABIs that may still be relevant and I wouldn't know what to do with them. That can always be done on a separate pass, preferably by someone who can test on alpha. A couple other spots have references to OSF/Tru64 and related files being removed, but it felt like removing them would make things worse, not better. We can revisit those when we next need to touch that code. I didn't remove a reference to osf in testsuite/lib/future.exp, as I believe that code is imported from DejaGNU. Built and tested on x86_64 Fedora 20, with --enable-targets=all. Tested that building for --target=alpha-osf3 on x86_64 Fedora 20 fails with: checking for default auto-load directory... $debugdir:$datadir/auto-load checking for default auto-load safe-path... $debugdir:$datadir/auto-load *** Configuration alpha-unknown-osf3 is obsolete. *** Support has been REMOVED. make[1]: *** [configure-gdb] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `build-osf' make: *** [all] Error 2 gdb/ 2014-10-17 Pedro Alves <palves@redhat.com> * Makefile.in (ALL_64_TARGET_OBS): Remove alpha-osf1-tdep.o. 2014-10-10Delete IRIX supportPedro Alves1-8/+1
This does most of the mechanical removal. IOW, the easy part. This doesn't touch procfs.c as that'd be a harder excision, potentially affecting Solaris. mips-tdep.c is left alone. E.g., I didn't delete the GDB_OSABI_IRIX enum value, nor references to it in mips-tdep.c. 2013-10-30S/390: Rename source files to *-linux-*Ulrich Weigand1-2/+2
As suggested before, rename the S/390-related source files (tdep and nat) such that "-linux-" occurs in the file name, like with other GNU/Linux targets. Since no other operating system is currently supported by GDB on this architecture, this isn't strictly necessary. But the old names sometimes caused GDB contributors to miss these files when performing a change that affects all GNU/Linux targets. The latest such incident was observed here: https://sourceware.org/ml/gdb-patches/2013-09/msg00619.html gdb/ 2013-10-30 Andreas Arnez <arnez@linux.vnet.ibm.com> * s390-tdep.h: Rename to... * s390-linux-tdep.h: ...here. * s390-tdep.c: Rename to... * s390-linux-tdep.c: ...here.
