gdb/ChangeLog: Update copyright year range in all GDB files.
2019-07-10Don't include gdbarch.h from defs.hTom Tromey1-0/+2
I touched symtab.h and was surprised to see how many files were rebuilt. I looked into it a bit, and found that defs.h includes gdbarch.h, which in turn includes many things. gdbarch.h is only needed by a minority ofthe files in gdb, so this patch removes the include from defs.h and updates the fallout. I did "wc -l" on the files in build/gdb/.deps; this patch reduces the line count from 139935 to 137030; so there are definitely future build-time savings here. Note that while I configured with --enable-targets=all, it's possible that some *-nat.c file needs an update. I could not test all of these. The buildbot caught a few problems along these lines. gdb/ChangeLog 2019-07-10 Tom Tromey <tom@tromey.com> * defs.h: Don't include gdbarch.h. * aarch64-ravenscar-thread.c, aarch64-tdep.c, alpha-bsd-tdep.h, alpha-linux-tdep.c, alpha-mdebug-tdep.c, arch-utils.h, arm-tdep.h, ax-general.c, btrace.c, buildsym-legacy.c, buildsym.h, c-lang.c, cli/cli-decode.h, cli/cli-dump.c, cli/cli-script.h, cli/cli-style.h, coff-pe-read.h, compile/compile-c-support.c, compile/compile-cplus.h, compile/compile-loc2c.c, corefile.c, cp-valprint.c, cris-linux-tdep.c, ctf.c, d-lang.c, d-namespace.c, dcache.c, dicos-tdep.c, dictionary.c, disasm-selftests.c, dummy-frame.c, dummy-frame.h, dwarf2-frame-tailcall.c, dwarf2expr.c, expression.h, f-lang.c, frame-base.c, frame-unwind.c, frv-linux-tdep.c, gdbarch-selftests.c, gdbtypes.h, go-lang.c, hppa-nbsd-tdep.c, hppa-obsd-tdep.c, i386-dicos-tdep.c, i386-tdep.h, ia64-vms-tdep.c, interps.h, language.c, linux-record.c, location.h, m2-lang.c, m32r-linux-tdep.c, mem-break.c, memattr.c, mn10300-linux-tdep.c, nios2-linux-tdep.c, objfiles.h, opencl-lang.c, or1k-linux-tdep.c, p-lang.c, parser-defs.h, ppc-tdep.h, probe.h, python/py-record-btrace.c, record-btrace.c, record.h, regcache-dump.c, regcache.h, riscv-fbsd-tdep.c, riscv-linux-tdep.c, rust-exp.y, sh-linux-tdep.c, sh-nbsd-tdep.c, source-cache.c, sparc-nbsd-tdep.c, sparc-obsd-tdep.c, sparc-ravenscar-thread.c, sparc64-fbsd-tdep.c, std-regs.c, target-descriptions.h, target-float.c, tic6x-linux-tdep.c, tilegx-linux-tdep.c, top.c, tracefile.c, trad-frame.c, type-stack.h, ui-style.c, utils.c, utils.h, valarith.c, valprint.c, varobj.c, x86-tdep.c, xml-support.h, xtensa-linux-tdep.c, cli/cli-cmds.h: Update. * s390-linux-nat.c, procfs.c, inf-ptrace.c: Likewise.
2019-02-07Normalize include guards in gdbTom Tromey1-3/+3
While working on my other scripts to deal with gdb headers, I noticed that some files were missing include guards. I wrote a script to add the missing ones, but found that using the obvious names for the guards ran into clashes -- for example, gdb/nat/linux-nat.h used "LINUX_NAT_H", but this was also the script's choice for gdb/linux-nat.h. So, I changed the script to normalize all include guards in gdb. This patch is the result. As usual the script is available here: https://github.com/tromey/gdb-refactoring-scripts Tested by rebuilding; I also ran it through "Fedora-x86_64-m64" on the buildbot. gdb/ChangeLog 2019-02-07 Tom 2019-01-01Update copyright year range in all GDB files.Joel Brobecker1-1/+1
This commit applies all changes made after running the gdb/copyright.py script. Note that one file was flagged by the script, due to an invalid copyright header (gdb/unittests/basic_string_view/element_access/char/empty.cc). As the file was copied from GCC's libstdc++-v3 testsuite, this commit leaves this file untouched for the time being; a patch to fix the header was sent to gcc-patches first. gdb/ChangeLog: Update copyright year range in all GDB files.
2018-05-04Let gdb.execute handle multi-line commandsTom Tromey1-1/+14
This changes the Python API so that gdb.execute can now handle multi-line commands, like "commands" or "define". 2018-05-04Use function_view in cli-script.cTom Tromey1-6/+5
This changes some functions in cli-script.c to use function_view rather than a function pointer and closure argument. This simplifies the code a bit and is useful in a subsequent patch. 2018-05-04Allow defining a user command inside a user commandTom Tromey1-0/+1
PR gdb/11750 concerns defining a command inside a user commnad, like: define outer define inner echo hi\n end end This patch adds this capability to gdb. ChangeLog 2018-05-04 Tom Tromey <tom@tromey.com> PR gdb/11750: * cli/cli-script.h (enum command_control_type) <define_control>: New constant. * cli/cli-script.c (multi_line_command_p): Handle define_control. 2018-05-04Constify prompt argument to read_command_linesTom Tromey1-1/+1
The prompt argument to read_command_lines can be const. This patch makes this change, and also removes some fixed-sized buffers in favor of using string_printf. 2018-05-04Make print_command_trace varargsTom Tromey1-1/+2
I noticed some code in execute_control_command_1 that could be simplified by making print_command_trace a printf-like function. This patch makes this change. 2018-05-04Use counted_command_line everywhereTom Tromey1-25/+41
Currently command lines are reference counted using shared_ptr only when attached to breakpoints. This patch changes gdb to use shared_ptr in commands as well. This allows for the removal of copy_command_lines. Note that the change to execute_user_command explicitly makes a new reference to the command line. This will be used in a later patch. This simplifies struct command_line based on the observation that a given command can have at most two child bodies: an "if" can have both "then" and "else" parts. Perhaps the names I've chosen for the replacements here are not very good -- your input requested. ChangeLog 2018-05-04 Tom Tromey <tom@tromey.com> * tracepoint.c (all_tracepoint_actions): Rename from all_tracepoint_actions_and_cleanup. Change return type. 2017-09-04Move command lines types/declarations to cli-script.hSimon Marchi1-1/+75
I think it would make more sense if the types and function declarations related to command lines were in cli-script.h rather than defs.h, since the related function definitions are in cli-script.c. I had to add a few includes here and there. I also had to rename the "lines" parameter of command_lines_deleter::operator(), because ncurses has a "#define lines ..." that was interfering when cli-script.h is included by some TUI source files that also include ncurses header files. gdb/ChangeLog: * cli/cli-script.h (enum misc_command_type): Move from defs.h. 2017-04-12Introduce command_line_upTom Tromey1-6/+3
This introduces command_line_up, a unique_ptr for command_line objects, and changes many places to use it. This removes a number of cleanups. Command lines are funny in that sometimes they are reference counted. Once there is more C++-ification of some of the users, perhaps all of these can be changed to use shared_ptr instead. gdb/ChangeLog 2017-04-12 Tom Tromey <tom@tromey.com> * tracepoint.c (actions_command): Update. * python/python.c (python_command, python_interactive_command): Update. * mi/mi-cmd-break.c (mi_cmd_break_commands): Update. * guile/guile.c (guile_command): Update. * defs.h (read_command_lines, read_command_lines_1): Return command_line_up. 2016-12-02Fix PR 20559 - "eval" command and $arg0...$arg9/$argc substitutionPedro Alves1-0/+6
It'd be handy to be able to iterate over command arguments in user-defined commands, in order to support optional arguments ($arg0..$argN). I thought I could make it work with "eval", but alas, it doesn't work currently. E.g., with: define test set $i = 0 while $i < $argc eval "print $arg%d", $i set $i = $i + 1 end end we get: (gdb) test 1 $1 = void (gdb) test 1 2 3 $2 = void $3 = void $4 = void (gdb) The problem is that "eval" doesn't do user-defined command arguments substitution after expanding its own argument. This patch fixes that, which makes the example above work: (gdb) test 1 $1 = 1 (gdb) test 1 2 3 $2 = 1 $3 = 2 $4 = 3 (gdb) New test included, similar the above, but also exercises expanding $argc. I think this is likely to simplify many scripts out there, so I'm adding an example to the manual and mentioning it in NEWS as well. gdb/ChangeLog: 2016-12-02 Pedro Alves <palves@redhat.com> PR cli/20559 * NEWS: Mention "eval" expands user-defined command arguments. * cli/cli-script.c (execute_control_command): Adjust to rename. 2013-03-13Constify strings in tracepoint.c, lookup_cmd and the completers.Pedro Alves1-2/+4
This is sort of a continuation of Keith's parse_exp_1 constification patch. It started out by undoing these bits: @@ -754,9 +754,12 @@ validate_actionline (char **line, struct tmp_p = p; for (loc = t->base.loc; loc; loc = loc->next) { - p = tmp_p; - exp = parse_exp_1 (&p, loc->address, + const char *q; + + q = tmp_p; + exp = parse_exp_1 (&q, loc->address, block_for_pc (loc->address), 1); + p = (char *) q; and progressively making more things const upwards, fixing fallout, rinse repeat, until GDB built again (--enable-targets=all). That ended up constifying lookup_cmd/add_cmd and (lots of) friends, and the completers. I didn't try to constify the command hooks themselves, because I know upfront there are commands that write to the command string argument, and I think I managed to stop at a nice non-hacky split point already. I think the only non-really-super-obvious changes are tracepoint.c:validate_actionline, and tracepoint.c:trace_dump_actions. The rest is just mostly about 'char *' => 'const char *', 'char **'=> 'const char **', and the occasional (e.g., deprecated_cmd_warning) case of 'char **'=> 'const char *', where/when I noticed that nothing actually cares about the pointer to pointer output. 2013-02-12Consistent use of (C) after "Copyright".Pedro Alves1-1/+1
While writing the previous patch, I noticed that we're not consistent with the (C) in the copyright header. The maintainers manual prefers having it, though also says it's optional. We have over 10x more files with (C) than without in gdb's code, so I spent a few minutes grepping and fixing. Funny enough, the testsuite has it backwards. I'll leave that for another time. gdb/ 2013-02-12 Pedro Alves <palves@redhat.com> * amd64-darwin-tdep.c: Add (C) after Copyright. * cli/cli-cmds.h: Ditto. * cli/cli-decode.c: Ditto. * cli/cli-decode.h: Ditto. * cli/cli-dump.c: Ditto. * cli/cli-dump.h: Ditto. * cli/cli-interp.c: Ditto. * cli/cli-logging.c: Ditto. * cli/cli-script.c: Ditto. * cli/cli-script.h: Ditto. * cli/cli-setshow.c: Ditto. * cli/cli-setshow.h: Ditto. * cli/cli-utils.c: Ditto. * cli/cli-utils.h: Ditto. * config/alpha/nm-osf3.h: Ditto. * config/djgpp/djconfig.sh: Ditto. * config/i386/nm-fbsd.h: Ditto. * config/i386/nm-i386gnu.h: Ditto. * config/nm-linux.h: Ditto. * config/nm-nto.h: Ditto. * config/rs6000/nm-rs6000.h: Ditto. * config/sparc/nm-sol2.h: Ditto. * darwin-nat-info.c: Ditto. * dfp.c: Ditto. * dfp.h: Ditto. * gdb-demangle.h: Ditto. * i386-darwin-nat.c: Ditto. * i386-darwin-tdep.c: Ditto. * linux-fork.h: Ditto. * m32c-tdep.c: Ditto. * microblaze-linux-tdep.c: Ditto. * microblaze-rom.c: Ditto. * microblaze-tdep.c: Ditto. * microblaze-tdep.h: Ditto. * mips-linux-tdep.h: Ditto. * ppc-ravenscar-thread.c: Ditto. * ppc-ravenscar-thread.h: Ditto. * prologue-value.c: Ditto. * prologue-value.h: Ditto. * ravenscar-thread.c: Ditto. * ravenscar-thread.h: Ditto. * sparc-ravenscar-thread.c: Ditto. * sparc-ravenscar-thread.h: Ditto. * tilegx-linux-tdep.c: Ditto. * unwind_stop_reasons.def: Ditto. * windows-nat.h: Ditto. * xtensa-linux-tdep.c: Ditto. * xtensa-xtregs.c: Ditto. * regformats/regdat.sh: Ditto. * regformats/regdef.h: Ditto. gdb/gdbserver/ 2013-02-12 Pedro Alves <palves@redhat.com> * linux-xtensa-low.c: Ditto. * xtensa-xtregs.c: Ditto.
