2017-10-10Require wi::to_wide for treesRichard Sandiford1-35/+94
The wide_int routines allow things like: wi::add (t, 1) to add 1 to an INTEGER_CST T in its native precision. But we also have: wi::to_offset (t) // Treat T as an offset_int wi::to_widest (t) // Treat T as a widest_int Recently we also gained: wi::to_wide (t, prec) // Treat T as a wide_int in preccision PREC This patch therefore requires: wi::to_wide (t) when operating on INTEGER_CSTs in their native precision. This is just as efficient, and makes it clearer that a deliberate choice is being made to treat the tree as a wide_int in its native precision. This also removes the inconsistency that a) INTEGER_CSTs in their native precision can be used without an accessor but must use wi:: functions instead of C++ operators b) the other forms need an explicit accessor but the result can be used with C++ operators. 2017-10-02Fix mismatched precisions in tree arithmeticRichard Sandiford1-0/+1
The tree wi:: decompose routine wasn't asserting that the requested precision matched the tree's precision. This could make a difference for unsigned trees that are exactly N HWIs wide and that have the upper bit set, since we then need an extra zero HWI when extending it to wider precisions (as for wi::to_widest). This patch adds the assert and fixes the fallout shown by the testsuite. 2017-09-14Use vec<> in build_vectorRichard Sandiford1-1/+1
This patch makes build_vector take the elements as a vec<> rather than a tree *. This is useful for SVE because it bundles the number of elements with the elements themselves, and enforces the fact that the number is constant. 2017-09-14Store VECTOR_CST_NELTS directly in tree_nodeRichard Sandiford1-1/+1
Previously VECTOR_CST_NELTS (t) read the number of elements from TYPE_VECTOR_SUBPARTS (TREE_TYPE (t)). There were two ways of handling this with variable TYPE_VECTOR_SUBPARTS: either forcibly convert the number to a constant (which is doable) or store the number directly in the VECTOR_CST. The latter seemed better, since it involves less pointer chasing and since the tree_node u field is otherwise unused for VECTOR_CST. It would still be easy to switch to the former in future if we need to free up the field for someting else. The patch also changes various bits of VECTOR_CST code to use VECTOR_CST_NELTS instead of TYPE_VECTOR_SUBPARTS when iterating over VECTOR_CST_ELTs. This patch adds a macro that extracts the TYPE_MODE and forcibly converts it to a scalar_float_mode. The forcible conversion includes a gcc_checking_assert that the mode is a SCALAR_FLOAT_MODE_P. This becomes important as more static type checking is added by later patches. Add warn_if_not_aligned attribute as well as command line options: -Wif-not-aligned and -Wpacked-not-aligned. __attribute__((warn_if_not_aligned(N))) causes compiler to issue a warning if the field in a struct or union is not aligned to N: typedef unsigned long long __u64 __attribute__((aligned(4),warn_if_not_aligned(8))); struct foo { int i1; int i2; __u64 x; }; __u64 is aligned to 4 bytes. But inside struct foo, __u64 should be aligned at 8 bytes. It is used to define struct foo in such a way that struct foo has the same layout and x has the same alignment when __u64 is aligned at either 4 or 8 bytes. Since struct foo is normally aligned to 4 bytes, a warning will be issued: warning: alignment 4 of 'struct foo' is less than 8 Align struct foo to 8 bytes: struct foo { int i1; int i2; __u64 x; } __attribute__((aligned(8))); silences the warning. It also warns the field with misaligned offset: struct foo { int i1; int i2; int i3; __u64 x; } __attribute__((aligned(8))); warning: 'x' offset 12 in 'struct foo' isn't aligned to 8 This warning is controlled by -Wif-not-aligned and is enabled by default.
