2022-01-13vect: Add bias parameter for partial vectorizationRobin Dapp1-9/+22
This introduces a bias parameter for the len_load/len_store ifns as well as optabs that is meant to distinguish between Power and s390 variants. PowerPC's instructions require a bias of 0, while in s390's case vll/vstl do not support lengths of zero bytes and a bias of -1 must be used. gcc/ChangeLog: * internal-fn.c (expand_partial_load_optab_fn): Add bias. 2021-12-17vect: Fix multi-vector SLP gather loads [PR103744]Richard Sandiford1-2/+4
This PR shows that I didn't properly test the multi-vector case when adding support for SLP gather loads. The patch fixes that case using the same approach as we do for non-SLP cases: keep the scalar base the same, but iterate through the (also multi-vector) vector offsets. “vec_num * j + i” is already used elsewhere as a way of handling both the multi-vector SLP case and the multi-vector non-SLP case. gcc/ PR tree-optimization/103744 * tree-vect-stmts.c (vectorizable_load): Handle multi-vector SLP gather loads. gcc/testsuite/ PR tree-optimization/103744 * gcc.dg/vect/pr103744-1.c: New test. * gcc.dg/vect/pr103744-2.c: Likewise.
2021-12-17slp: check that the operation we're combing is a boolean operation [PR103741]Tamar Christina1-1/+3
It seems I forgot to check that the operation we're combing when masking the predicated together are actually predicates types. Without it we end up accidentally trying to combine a value and a mask. gcc/ChangeLog: PR tree-optimization/103741 * tree-vect-stmts.c (vectorizable_operation): Check for boolean. gcc/testsuite/ChangeLog: PR tree-optimization/103741 * gcc.target/aarch64/pr103741.c: New test.
2021-12-06tree-optimization/103581 - fix masked gather on x86Richard Biener1-2/+2
The recent fix to PR103527 exposed an issue with how the various special casing for AVX512 masks in vect_build_gather_load_calls are handled. The following makes that more obvious, fixing the miscompile of 403.gcc. 2021-12-06 Richard Biener <rguenther@suse.de> PR tree-optimization/103581 * tree-vect-stmts.c (vect_build_gather_load_calls): Properly guard all the AVX512 mask cases. * gcc.dg/vect/pr103581.c: New testcase.
2021-12-03sve: combine nested if predicatesTamar Christina1-15/+55
The following example void f5(float * restrict z0, float * restrict z1, float *restrict x, float * restrict y, float c, int n) { for (int i = 0; i < n; i++) { float a = x[i]; float b = y[i]; if (a > b) { z0[i] = a + b; if (a > c) { z1[i] = a - b; } } } } generates currently: ptrue p3.b, all ld1w z1.s, p1/z, [x2, x5, lsl 2] ld1w z2.s, p1/z, [x3, x5, lsl 2] fcmgt p0.s, p3/z, z1.s, z0.s fcmgt p2.s, p1/z, z1.s, z2.s fcmgt p0.s, p0/z, z1.s, z2.s and p0.b, p0/z, p1.b, p1.b The conditions for a > b and a > c become separate comparisons. After this patch we generate: ld1w z1.s, p0/z, [x2, x5, lsl 2] ld1w z2.s, p0/z, [x3, x5, lsl 2] fcmgt p1.s, p0/z, z1.s, z2.s fcmgt p1.s, p1/z, z1.s, z0.s Where the condition a > b && a > c are folded by using the predicate result of the previous compare and thus allows the removal of one of the compares. When never a mask is being generated from an BIT_AND we mask the operands of the and instead and then just AND the result. This allows us to be able to CSE the masks and generate the right combination. However because re-assoc will try to re-order the masks in the & we have to now perform a small local CSE on the vectorized loop is vectorization is successful. Note: This patch series is working incrementally towards generating the most efficient code for this and other loops in small steps. gcc/ChangeLog: * tree-vect-stmts.c (prepare_load_store_mask): Rename to... (prepare_vec_mask): ...This and record operations that have already been masked. (vectorizable_call): Use it. (vectorizable_operation): Likewise. (vectorizable_store): Likewise. (vectorizable_load): Likewise. * tree-vectorizer.h (class _loop_vec_info): Add vec_cond_masked_set. (vec_cond_masked_set_type, tree_cond_mask_hash): New. gcc/testsuite/ChangeLog: * gcc.target/aarch64/sve/pred-combine-and.c: New test.
2021-12-02tree-optimization/103527 - always use thruth type forgather maskRichard Biener1-2/+3
This makes sure to always use a truth type to build the gather mask argument even when the target builtin prototype in the end wants a float vector. 2021-12-02 Richard Biener <rguenther@suse.de> PR tree-optimization/103527 * tree-vect-stmts.c (vect_build_gather_load_calls): Always use a truth type for building the vector mask.
2021-11-30vect: Fix ncopies calculation for emulated gather/scatter [PR103494]Richard Sandiford1-9/+12
I was too eager about removing ncopies calculations in g:10833849b55. When emulating gather/scatter, the offset ncopies can be different from the data ncopies. This patch restores the original calculation. gcc/ PR tree-optimization/103494 * tree-vect-stmts.c (vect_get_gather_scatter_ops): Remove ncopies argument and calculate ncopies from gs_info->offset_vectype where necessary. 2021-11-30vect: Support gather loads with SLPRichard Sandiford1-12/+14
This patch adds SLP support for IFN_GATHER_LOAD. Like the SLP support for IFN_MASK_LOAD, it works by treating only some of the arguments as child nodes. Unlike IFN_MASK_LOAD, it requires the other arguments (base, scale, and extension type) to be the same for all calls in the group. It does not require/expect the loads to be in a group (which probably wouldn't make sense for gathers). I was worried about the possible alias effect of moving gathers around to be part of the same SLP group. The patch therefore makes vect_analyze_data_ref_dependence treat gathers and scatters as a top-level concern, punting if the accesses aren't completely independent and if the user hasn't told us that a particular VF is safe. I think in practice we already punted in the same circumstances; the idea is just to make it more explicit. gcc/ PR tree-optimization/102467 * doc/sourcebuild.texi (vect_gather_load_ifn): Document. * tree-vect-data-refs.c (vect_analyze_data_ref_dependence): Commonize safelen handling. 2021-11-30vect: Make reduction code handle callsRichard Sandiford1-12/+54
This patch extends the reduction code to handle calls. So far it's a structural change only; a later patch adds support for specific function reductions. Most of the patch consists of using code_helper and gimple_match_op to describe the reduction operations. The other main change is that vectorizable_call now needs to handle fully-predicated reductions. This is because in the vectorizer we're emitting a comparison for both a and ~a where we just need to emit one of them and invert the other. After this patch we generate: ld1d z0.d, p0/z, [x1, x2, lsl 3] fcmgt p1.d, p0/z, z0.d, #0.0 mov p2.b, p1.b not p1.b, p0/z, p1.b ld1d z1.d, p1/z, [x3, x2, lsl 3] In order to perform the check I have to fully expand the NOT stmts when recording them as the SSA names for the top level expressions differ but their arguments don't. e.g. in _31 = ~_34 the value of _34 differs but not the operands in _34. But we only do this when the operation is an ordered one because mixing ordered and unordered expressions can lead to de-optimized code. Note: This patch series is working incrementally towards generating the most efficient code for this and other loops in small steps. 2021-10-26Move negative stride bias out of dr_misalignmentRichard Biener1-13/+7
This moves applying of a bias for negative stride accesses out of dr_misalignment in favor of a more general optional offset argument. The negative bias is now computed by get_load_store_type and applied accordingly to determine the alignment support scheme. Likewise the peeling/versioning code is adjusted albeit that still assumes we'll end up with VMAT_CONTIGUOUS_DOWN or VMAT_CONTIGUOUS_REVERSE but at least when not so (VMAT_STRIDED_SLP is one possibility) then get_load_store_type will _not_ falsely report an aligned access but instead an access with known misalignment. There are two calls with true as parameter, one is only relevant for the case of the misalignment being unknown which means the access is never aligned there, the other is in the peeling hash insert code used conditional on the unlimited cost model which adds an artificial count. But the way it works right now is that it boosts the count if the specific misalignment when not peeling is unsupported - in particular when the access is currently aligned we'll query the backend with a misalign value of zero. 2021-09-27Allow different vector types for stmt groupsRichard Biener1-29/+48
This allows vectorization (in practice non-loop vectorization) to have a stmt participate in different vector type vectorizations. It allows us to remove vect_update_shared_vectype and replace it by pushing/popping STMT_VINFO_VECTYPE from SLP_TREE_VECTYPE around vect_analyze_stmt and vect_transform_stmt. For data-ref the situation is a bit more complicated since we analyze alignment info with a specific vector type in mind which doesn't play well when that changes. So the bulk of the change is passing down the actual vector type used for a vectorized access to the various accessors of alignment info, first and foremost dr_misalignment but also aligned_access_p, known_alignment_for_access_p, vect_known_alignment_in_bytes and vect_supportable_dr_alignment. I took the liberty to replace ALL_CAPS macro accessors with the lower-case function invocations. The actual changes to the behavior are in dr_misalignment which now is the place factoring in the negative step adjustment as well as handling alignment queries for a vector type with bigger alignment requirements than what we can (or have) analyze(d). vect_slp_analyze_node_alignment makes use of this and upon receiving a vector type with a bigger alingment desire re-analyzes the DR with respect to it but keeps an older more precise result if possible. In this context it might be possible to do the analysis just once but instead of analyzing with respect to a specific desired alignment look for the biggest alignment we can compute a not unknown alignment. The ChangeLog includes the functional changes but not the bulk due to the alignment accessor API changes - I hope that's something good. 2021-09-17 Richard Biener <rguenther@suse.de> PR tree-optimization/97351 PR tree-optimization/97352 PR tree-optimization/82426 * tree-vectorizer.h (dr_misalignment): Add vector type argument. 2021-08-10tree-optimization/101801 - rework generic vector vectorization moreRichard Biener1-8/+37
This builds ontop of the vect_worthwhile_without_simd_p refactoring done earlier. It was wrong in dropping the appearant double checks for operation support since the optab check can happen with an integer vector emulation mode and thus succeed but vector lowering might not actually support the operation on word_mode. The following patch adds a vect_emulated_vector_p helper and re-instantiates the check where it was previously. It also adds appropriate costing of the scalar stmts emitted by vector lowering to vectorizable_operation which should be the only place such operations are synthesized. I've also cared for the case where the vector mode is supported but the operation is not (though I think this will be unlikely given we're talking about plus, minus and negate). This fixes the observed FAIL of gcc.dg/tree-ssa/gen-vect-11b.c with -m32 where we end up vectorizing a multiplication that ends up being teared down to scalars again by vector lowering. 2021-08-04Add emulated gather capability to the vectorizerRichard Biener1-6/+94
This adds a gather vectorization capability to the vectorizer without target support by decomposing the offset vector, doing sclar loads and then building a vector from the result. This is aimed mainly at cases where vectorizing the rest of the loop offsets the cost of vectorizing the gather. Note it's difficult to avoid vectorizing the offset load, but in some cases later passes can turn the vector load + extract into scalar loads, see the followup patch. On SPEC CPU 2017 510.parest_r this improves runtime from 250s to 219s on a Zen2 CPU which has its native gather instructions disabled (using those the runtime instead increases to 254s) using -Ofast -march=znver2 [-flto]. It turns out the critical loops in this benchmark all perform gather operations. 2021-07-30 Richard Biener <rguenther@suse.de> * tree-vect-data-refs.c (vect_check_gather_scatter): Include widening conversions only when the result is still handed by native gather or the current offset size not already matches the data size. 2021-06-21tree-optimization/101120 - fix compile-time issue with SLP groupsRichard Biener1-1/+6
This places two hacks to avoid an old compile-time issue when vectorizing large permuted SLP groups with gaps where we end up emitting loads and IV adjustments for the gap as well and those have quite a high cost until they are eventually cleaned up. The first hack is to fold the auto-inc style IV updates early in the vectorizer rather than in the next forwprop pass which shortens the SSA use-def chains of the used IV. The second hack is to remove the unused loads after we've picked all that we possibly use. 2021-06-18 Richard Biener <rguenther@suse.de> PR tree-optimization/101120 * tree-vect-data-refs.c (bump_vector_ptr): Fold the built increment. * tree-vect-slp.c (vect_transform_slp_perm_load): Add DR chain DCE capability. * tree-vectorizer.h (vect_transform_slp_perm_load): Adjust. * tree-vect-stmts.c (vectorizable_load): Remove unused loads in the DR chain for SLP.
