PR 84136 reports an ICE within sccvn_dom_walker when handling a
C/C++ source file that overuses the labels-as-values extension.
The code in question stores a jump label into a global, and then
jumps to it from another function, which ICEs after inlining:
void* a;
void foo() {
if ((a = &&l))
return;
l:;
}
int main() {
foo();
goto *a;
return 0;
}
This appears to be far beyond what we claim to support in this
extension - but we shouldn't ICE.
What's happening is that, after inlining, we have usage of a *copy*
of the label, which optimizes away the if-return logic, turning it
into an infinite loop.
On entry to the sccvn_dom_walker we have this gimple:
main ()
{
void * a.0_1;
<bb 2> [count: 0]:
a = &l;
<bb 3> [count: 0]:
l:
a.0_1 = a;
goto a.0_1;
}
and:
edge taken = find_taken_edge (bb, vn_valueize (val));
reasonably valueizes the:
goto a.0_1;
after the:
a = &l;
a.0_1 = a;
as if it were:
goto *&l;
find_taken_edge_computed_goto then has:
2380 dest = label_to_block (val);
2381 if (dest)
2382 {
2383 e = find_edge (bb, dest);
2384 gcc_assert (e != NULL);
2385 }
which locates dest as a self-jump from block 3 back to itself.
However, the find_edge call returns NULL - it has a predecessor edge
from block 2, but no successor edges.
Hence the assertion fails and we ICE.
A successor edge from the computed goto could have been created by
make_edges if the label stmt had been in the function, but make_edges
only looks in the current function when handling computed gotos, and
the label only appeared after inlining.
The following patch removes the assertion, fixing the ICE.

This patch changes TYPE_VECTOR_SUBPARTS to a poly_uint64. The value is
encoded in the 10-bit precision field and was previously always stored
as a simple log2 value. The challenge was to use this 10 bits to
encode the number of elements in variable-length vectors, so that
we didn't need to increase the size of the tree.
In practice the number of vector elements should always have the form
N + N * X (where X is the runtime value), and as for constant-length
vectors, N must be a power of 2 (even though X itself might not be).
The patch therefore uses the low 8 bits to encode log2(N) and bit
8 to select between constant-length and variable-length vectors.
Targets without variable-length vectors continue to use the old scheme.
A new valid_vector_subparts_p function tests whether a given number
of elements can be encoded. This is false for the vector modes that
represent an LD3 or ST3 vector triple (which we want to treat as arrays
of vectors rather than single vectors).
Most of the patch is mechanical; previous patches handled the changes
that weren't entirely straightforward.

The previous patches mean that there's no reason that constant
VEC_PERM_EXPRs need to have the same shape as the data inputs.
This patch makes the autovectoriser use sizetype elements instead,

Make sure that gimple and RTL IRs don't have debug markers before
labels. When we build the CFG, we move labels before any markers
appearing before them. Then, make sure we don't mistakenly
reintroduce them.

This patch adds a tree representation for poly_ints. Unlike the
rtx version, the coefficients are INTEGER_CSTs rather than plain
integers, so that we can easily access them as poly_widest_ints
and poly_offset_ints.
The patch also adjusts some places that previously
relied on "constant" meaning "INTEGER_CST". It also makes
sure that the TYPE_SIZE agrees with the TYPE_SIZE_UNIT for
vector booleans, given the existing:
/* Several boolean vector elements may fit in a single unit. */
if (VECTOR_BOOLEAN_TYPE_P (type)
&& type->type_common.mode != BLKmode)
TYPE_SIZE_UNIT (type)
= size_int (GET_MODE_SIZE (type->type_common.mode));
else
TYPE_SIZE_UNIT (type) = int_const_binop (MULT_EXPR,
TYPE_SIZE_UNIT (innertype),

SVE needs a way of broadcasting a scalar to a variable-length vector.
This patch adds VEC_DUPLICATE_EXPR for when CONSTRUCTOR would be used
for fixed-length vectors; this is the tree equivalent of the existing
rtl code VEC_DUPLICATE.
The patch also adds a vec_duplicate_optab to go with VEC_DUPLICATE_EXPR.

This patch adjusts numerous parts of the compiler that would
malfunction should they find debug markers at points where they may be
introduced. The changes purport to allow the compiler to pass
bootstrap-debug-lean (-fcompare-debug in stage3) at various
optimization levels, as well as bootstrap-debug-lib (-fcompare-debug
for target libraries), even after the compiler is changed so that
debug markers are introduced in code streams at spots where earlier
debug stmts, insns and notes wouldn't normally appear.
This patch depends on an earlier SFN boilerplate patch, and on another
SFN patch that introduces new RTL insn-walking functions.

This patch introduces a number of new macros and functions that will
be used to distinguish between different kinds of debug stmts, insns
and notes, namely, preexisting debug bind ones and to-be-introduced
nonbind markers.
In a seemingly mechanical way, it adjusts several uses of the macros
and functions, so that they refer to narrower categories when
appropriate.
These changes, by themselves, should not have any visible effect in
the compiler behavior, since the upcoming debug markers are never
created with this patch alone.

The wide_int routines allow things like:
wi::add (t, 1)
to add 1 to an INTEGER_CST T in its native precision. But we also have:
wi::to_offset (t) // Treat T as an offset_int
wi::to_widest (t) // Treat T as a widest_int
Recently we also gained:
wi::to_wide (t, prec) // Treat T as a wide_int in preccision PREC
This patch therefore requires:
wi::to_wide (t)
when operating on INTEGER_CSTs in their native precision. This is
just as efficient, and makes it clearer that a deliberate choice is
being made to treat the tree as a wide_int in its native precision.
This also removes the inconsistency that
a) INTEGER_CSTs in their native precision can be used without an accessor
but must use wi:: functions instead of C++ operators
b) the other forms need an explicit accessor but the result can be used
with C++ operators.
It also helps with SVE, where there's the additional possibility
that the tree could be a runtime value.

This patch adds a SCALAR_TYPE_MODE macro, along the same lines as
SCALAR_INT_TYPE_MODE and SCALAR_FLOAT_TYPE_MODE. It also adds
two instances of as_a <scalar_mode> to c_common_type, when converting
an unsigned fixed-point SCALAR_TYPE_MODE to the equivalent signed mode.
