2025-02-07jit/118780 - make sure to include dlfcn.h when plugin support is disabledRichard Biener1-1/+1
The following makes the dlfcn.h explicitly requested which avoids build failure when JIT is enabled but plugin support disabled as currently the include is conditional on plugin support. PR jit/118780 gcc/ * system.h: Check INCLUDE_DLFCN_H for including dlfcn.h instead of ENABLE_PLUGIN. * plugin.cc: Define INCLUDE_DLFCN_H. gcc/jit/ * jit-playback.cc: Define INCLUDE_DLFCN_H. * jit-result.cc: Likewise.

2024-11-25build: Move sstream include above safe-ctype.h {PR117771]Andrew Pinski1-4/+3
sstream in some versions of libstdc++ include locale which might not have been included yet. safe-ctype.h defines the toupper, tolower, etc. as macros so the c++ header files needed to be included before hand as comment in system.h says: /* Include C++ standard headers before "safe-ctype.h" to avoid GCC poisoning the ctype macros through safe-ctype.h */ I don't understand how it was working before when memory was included after safe-ctype.h rather than before. But this makes sstream consistent with the other C++ headers. Pushed as obvious after a build for riscv64-elf. gcc/ChangeLog: PR target/117771 * system.h: Move the include of sstream above safe-ctype.h. Signed-off-by: Andrew Pinski <quic_apinski@quicinc.com>
2024-11-22build: Remove INCLUDE_MEMORY [PR117737]Andrew Pinski1-7/+1
Since diagnostic.h is included in over half of the sources, requiring to `#define INCLUDE_MEMORY` does not make sense. Instead lets unconditionally include memory in system.h. The majority of this patch is just removing `#define INCLUDE_MEMORY` from the sources which currently have it. This should also fix the mingw build issue but I have not tried it. Bootstrapped and tested on x86_64-linux-gnu. 2024-10-25gcc: Remove trailing whitespaceJakub Jelinek1-3/+3
I've tried to build stage3 with -Wleading-whitespace=blanks -Wtrailing-whitespace=blank -Wno-error=leading-whitespace=blanks -Wno-error=trailing-whitespace=blank added to STRICT_WARN and that expectably resulted in about 2744 unique trailing whitespace warnings and 124837 leading whitespace warnings when excluding *.md files (which obviously is in big part a generator issue). Others from that are generator related, I think those need to be solved later. The following patch just fixes up the easy case (trailing whitespace), which could be easily automated: for i in `find . -name \*.h -o -name \*.cc -o -name \*.c | xargs grep -l '[ ]$' | grep -v testsuite/`; do sed -i -e 's/[ ]*$//' $i; done I've excluded files which I knew are obviously generated or go FE. Is there anything else we'd want to avoid the changes? Due to patch size, I've split it between gcc/ part (this patch) and rest (include/, libiberty/, libgcc/, libcpp/, libstdc++-v3/). 2024-10-24 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> gcc/ * lra-assigns.cc: 2024-06-25Replace {FLOAT,{,LONG_}DOUBLE}_TYPE_SIZE with new hook mode_for_floating_typeKewen Lin1-1/+2
Currently how we determine which mode will be used for a floating point type is that for a given type precision (size) call mode_for_size to get the first mode which has this size in the specified class. On Powerpc, we have three modes (TF/KF/IF) having the same mode precision 128 (see[1]), so the processing forces us to have to place TF at the first place, it would require us to make more adjustment in some generic code to avoid some unexpected mode conversions and it would be even worse if we get rid of TF eventually one day. And as Joseph pointed out in [2], "floating types should have their mode, not a poorly defined precision value", as Joseph and Richi suggested, this patch is to introduce one hook mode_for_floating_type which returns the corresponding mode for type float, double or long double. The default implementation returns SFmode for float and DFmode for double or long double. For ports which need special treatment, there are some other patches for their own port specific implementation (referring to how {,LONG_}DOUBLE_TYPE_SIZE get used there). For all generic uses of {FLOAT,{,LONG_}DOUBLE}_TYPE_SIZE, depending on the context, some of them are replaced with TYPE_PRECISION of the according type node, some other are replaced with GET_MODE_PRECISION on the mode from mode_for_floating_type. This patch also poisons {FLOAT,{,LONG_}DOUBLE}_TYPE_SIZE, so most defines of {FLOAT,{,LONG_}DOUBLE}_TYPE_SIZE in port specific are removed, but there are still some which are good to be kept for readability then they get renamed with port specific prefix. The equivalent scalar variable is "step" and > other vector values in the surrounding code also use the "vec_" prefix. So like this? If/when clang finally fixes https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/issues/85579 on their side, we can then limit it to clang versions which still have the bug. I've git grepped for vec_set and appart from altivec.h it is just used in tree-vect-loop.cc, some Ada files which aren't preprocessed, ChangeLogs, rs6000-vecdefines.h (but that header is only included from altivec.h and vec_step is then redefined to the function-like macro) and in rs6000-overload.def but that file is processed with a generator, not included in C/C++ sources. 2024-03-20 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> PR bootstrap/114369 * system.h (vec_step): Define to vec_step_ when compiling with clang on PowerPC.
2024-03-07Include safe-ctype.h after C++ standard headers, to avoid over-poisoningFrancois-Xavier Coudert1-21/+18
When building gcc's C++ sources against recent libc++, the poisoning of the ctype macros due to including safe-ctype.h before including C++ standard headers such as <list>, <map>, etc, causes many compilation errors, similar to: In file included from /home/dim/src/gcc/master/gcc/gensupport.cc:23: In file included from /home/dim/src/gcc/master/gcc/system.h:233: In file included from /usr/include/c++/v1/vector:321: In file included from /usr/include/c++/v1/__format/formatter_bool.h:20: In file included from /usr/include/c++/v1/__format/formatter_integral.h:32: In file included from /usr/include/c++/v1/locale:202: /usr/include/c++/v1/__locale:546:5: error: '__abi_tag__' attribute only applies to structs, variables, functions, and namespaces 546 | _LIBCPP_INLINE_VISIBILITY | ^ /usr/include/c++/v1/__config:813:37: note: expanded from macro '_LIBCPP_INLINE_VISIBILITY' 813 | # define _LIBCPP_INLINE_VISIBILITY _LIBCPP_HIDE_FROM_ABI | ^ /usr/include/c++/v1/__config:792:26: note: expanded from macro '_LIBCPP_HIDE_FROM_ABI' 792 | __attribute__((__abi_tag__(_LIBCPP_TOSTRING( _LIBCPP_VERSIONED_IDENTIFIER)))) | ^ In file included from /home/dim/src/gcc/master/gcc/gensupport.cc:23: In file included from /home/dim/src/gcc/master/gcc/system.h:233: In file included from /usr/include/c++/v1/vector:321: In file included from /usr/include/c++/v1/__format/formatter_bool.h:20: In file included from /usr/include/c++/v1/__format/formatter_integral.h:32: In file included from /usr/include/c++/v1/locale:202: /usr/include/c++/v1/__locale:547:37: error: expected ';' at end of declaration list 547 | char_type toupper(char_type __c) const | ^ /usr/include/c++/v1/__locale:553:48: error: too many arguments provided to function-like macro invocation 553 | const char_type* toupper(char_type* __low, const char_type* __high) const | ^ /home/dim/src/gcc/master/gcc/../include/safe-ctype.h:146:9: note: macro 'toupper' defined here 146 | #define toupper(c) do_not_use_toupper_with_safe_ctype | ^ This is because libc++ uses different transitive includes than libstdc++, and some of those transitive includes pull in various ctype declarations (typically via <locale>). As we now use C++11 and thus need to be built by GCC 4.8 or later, I think this is now never used. 2023-09-27 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> PR c++/105606 * system.h (BROKEN_VALUE_INITIALIZATION): Don't define. * vec.h (vec_default_construct): Remove BROKEN_VALUE_INITIALIZATION workaround. * function.cc (assign_parm_find_data_types): Likewise.
2023-04-22Fix up bootstrap with GCC 4.[89] after RAII auto_mpfr and autp_mpz [PR109589]Jakub Jelinek1-0/+3

This unfortunately broke bootstrap when using GCC 4.8.x or 4.9.x as it uses deleted friends which weren't supported until PR62101 fixed them in 2014 for GCC 5. The following patch adds an workaround, not deleting those friends for those old versions. While it means if people add those mp*_{init{,2},clear} calls on auto_mp* objects they won't notice when doing non-bootstrap builds using very old system compilers, people should be bootstrapping their changes and it will be caught during bootstraps even when starting with those old compilers, plus most people actually use much newer compilers when developing. 2023-04-22 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> PR bootstrap/109589 * system.h (class auto_mpz): Workaround PR62101 bug in GCC 4.8 and 4.9. * realmpfr.h (class auto_mpfr): Likewise.

2023-02-16don't declare header-defined functions both static and inlinePatrick Palka1-3/+3
Many functions defined in our headers are declared 'static inline' which is a C idiom whose use predates our move to C++ as the implementation language. But in C++ the inline keyword is more than just a compiler hint, and is sufficient to give the function the intended semantics. In fact declaring a function both static and inline is a pessimization since static effectively disables the desired definition merging behavior enabled by inline, and is also a source of (harmless) ODR violations when a static inline function gets called from a non-static inline one (such as tree_operand_check calling tree_operand_length). This patch mechanically fixes the vast majority of occurrences of this anti-pattern throughout the compiler's headers via the command line sed -i 's/^static inline/inline/g' gcc/*.h gcc/*/*.h There's also a manual change to remove the redundant declarations of is_ivar and lookup_category in gcc/objc/objc-act.cc which would otherwise conflict with their modified definitions in objc-act.h (due to the difference in staticness). Besides fixing some ODR violations, this speeds up stage1 cc1plus by about 2% and reduces the size of its text segment by 1.5MB. gcc/ChangeLog: * addresses.h: Mechanically drop 'static' from 'static inline' functions via s/^static inline/inline/g. * asan.h: Likewise. * attribs.h: Likewise. * basic-block.h: Likewise. * bitmap.h: Likewise. * cfghooks.h: Likewise. * cfgloop.h: Likewise. * cgraph.h: Likewise. * cselib.h: Likewise. * data-streamer.h: Likewise. * debug.h: Likewise. * df.h: Likewise. * diagnostic.h: Likewise. * dominance.h: Likewise. * dumpfile.h: Likewise. * emit-rtl.h: Likewise. * except.h: Likewise. * expmed.h: Likewise. * expr.h: Likewise. * fixed-value.h: Likewise. * gengtype.h: Likewise. * gimple-expr.h: Likewise. * gimple-iterator.h: Likewise. * gimple-predict.h: Likewise. * gimple-range-fold.h: Likewise. * gimple-ssa.h: Likewise. * gimple.h: Likewise. * graphite.h: Likewise. * hard-reg-set.h: Likewise. * hash-map.h: Likewise. * hash-set.h: Likewise. * hash-table.h: Likewise. * hwint.h: Likewise. * input.h: Likewise. * insn-addr.h: Likewise. * internal-fn.h: Likewise. * ipa-fnsummary.h: Likewise. * ipa-icf-gimple.h: Likewise. * ipa-inline.h: Likewise. * ipa-modref.h: Likewise. * ipa-prop.h: Likewise. * ira-int.h: Likewise. * ira.h: Likewise. * lra-int.h: Likewise. * lra.h: Likewise. * lto-streamer.h: Likewise. * memmodel.h: Likewise. * omp-general.h: Likewise. * optabs-query.h: Likewise. * optabs.h: Likewise. * plugin.h: Likewise. * pretty-print.h: Likewise. * range.h: Likewise. * read-md.h: Likewise. * recog.h: Likewise. * regs.h: Likewise. * rtl-iter.h: Likewise. * rtl.h: Likewise. * sbitmap.h: Likewise. * sched-int.h: Likewise. * sel-sched-ir.h: Likewise. * sese.h: Likewise. * sparseset.h: Likewise. * ssa-iterators.h: Likewise. * system.h: Likewise. * target-globals.h: Likewise. * target.h: Likewise. * timevar.h: Likewise. * tree-chrec.h: Likewise. * tree-data-ref.h: Likewise. * tree-iterator.h: Likewise. * tree-outof-ssa.h: Likewise. * tree-phinodes.h: Likewise. * tree-scalar-evolution.h: Likewise. * tree-sra.h: Likewise. * tree-ssa-alias.h: Likewise. * tree-ssa-live.h: Likewise. * tree-ssa-loop-manip.h: Likewise. * tree-ssa-loop.h: Likewise. * tree-ssa-operands.h: Likewise. * tree-ssa-propagate.h: Likewise. * tree-ssa-sccvn.h: Likewise. * tree-ssa.h: Likewise. * tree-ssanames.h: Likewise. * tree-streamer.h: Likewise. * tree-switch-conversion.h: Likewise. * tree-vectorizer.h: Likewise. * tree.h: Likewise. * wide-int.h: Likewise. gcc/c-family/ChangeLog: * c-common.h: Mechanically drop static from static inline functions via s/^static inline/inline/g. gcc/c/ChangeLog: * c-parser.h: Mechanically drop static from static inline functions via s/^static inline/inline/g. gcc/cp/ChangeLog: * cp-tree.h: Mechanically drop static from static inline functions via s/^static inline/inline/g. gcc/fortran/ChangeLog: * gfortran.h: Mechanically drop static from static inline functions via s/^static inline/inline/g. gcc/jit/ChangeLog: * jit-dejagnu.h: Mechanically drop static from static inline functions via s/^static inline/inline/g. * jit-recording.h: Likewise. gcc/objc/ChangeLog: * objc-act.h: Mechanically drop static from static inline functions via s/^static inline/inline/g. * objc-map.h: Likewise. * objc-act.cc: Remove the redundant redeclarations of is_ivar and lookup_category.

2022-11-19jit: Use std::mutex instead of pthread_mutex_tJonathan Wakely1-0/+4
This allows JIT to be built with a different thread model from posix where pthread isn't available By renaming the acquire_mutex () and release_mutex () member functions to lock() and unlock() we make the playback::context type meet the C++ Lockable requirements. This removes CC0 and all directly related infrastructure. CC_STATUS, CC_STATUS_MDEP, CC_STATUS_MDEP_INIT, and NOTICE_UPDATE_CC are deleted and poisoned. CC0 is only deleted (some targets use that name for something else). HAVE_cc0 is automatically generated, and we no longer will do that after this patch. CC_STATUS_INIT is suggested in final.c to also be useful for ports that are not CC0, and at least arm seems to use it for something. 2020-12-17Add an alternative splay tree implementationRichard Sandiford1-0/+3
We already have two splay tree implementations: the old C one in libiberty and a templated reimplementation of it in typed-splay-tree.h. However, they have some drawbacks: - They hard-code the assumption that nodes should have both a key and a value, which isn't always true. - They use the two-phase method of lookup, and so nodes need to store a temporary back pointer. We can avoid that overhead by using the top-down method (as e.g. the bitmap tree code already does). - The tree node has to own the key and the value. For some use cases it's more convenient to embed the tree links in the value instead. Also, a later patch wants to use splay trees to represent an adaptive total order: the splay tree itself records whether node N1 is less than node N2, and (in the worst case) comparing nodes is a splay operation. This patch therefore adds an alternative implementation. The main features are: - Nodes can optionally point back to their parents. - An Accessors class abstracts accessing child nodes and (where applicable) parent nodes, so that the information can be embedded in larger data structures. - There is no fixed comparison function at the class level. Instead, individual functions that do comparisons take a comparison function argument. - There are two styles of comparison function, optimised for different use cases. (See the comments in the patch for details.) - It's possible to do some operations directly on a given node, without knowing whether it's the root. This includes the comparison use case described above. This of course has its own set of drawbacks. It's really providing splay utility functions rather than a true ADT, and so is more low-level than the existing routines. It's mostly geared for cases in which the client code wants to participate in the splay operations to some extent. gcc/ * Makefile.in (OBJS): Add splay-tree-utils.o. * system.h: Include <array> when INCLUDE_ARRAY is defined. * selftest.h (splay_tree_cc_tests): Declare. * selftest-run-tests.c (selftest::run_tests): Run splay_tree_cc_tests. * splay-tree-utils.h: New file. * splay-tree-utils.tcc: Likewise. * splay-tree-utils.cc: Likewise.

2020-08-14vec: Fix bootstrap on i686-linux, 32-bit darwin and AIXJakub Jelinek1-0/+1
As mentioned earlier, embedded_size is broken on vecs of long long, double etc. on some platforms, which breaks bootstrap. E.g. on i686-linux, the problem is mostly with older GCC versions being used as stage1 compiler (GCC 4.8 to 7.* in particular), because alignas (long long) makes U 64-bit aligned, while when long long m_vecdata[1]; is in vec, it is only 32-bit aligned. We've tried various ways and the following one seems to work, use the old way (offsetof (vec, m_vecdata)) for non-class types as well as standard layout class types, i.e. whenever offsetof is guaranteed to work, and for others use the new day (in that case we don't run into problems with long long or other scalar types and for the structure layout there is just a struct with a given alignment. 2020-08-14 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> Jonathan Wakely <jwakely@redhat.com> * system.h: Include type_traits. * vec.h (vec<T, A, vl_embed>::embedded_size): Use offsetof and asserts on vec_stdlayout, which is conditionally a vec (for standard layout T) and otherwise vec_embedded. 2020-07-02Redefine NULL to nullptrIlya Leoshkevich1-0/+10
Bootstrap with musl libc fails with numerous "missing sentinel in function call" errors. This is because musl defines NULL as 0L for C++, but gcc requires sentinel value to be a pointer or __null. Jonathan Wakely says: To be really safe during stage 1, GCC should not use NULL as a pointer sentinel in C++ code anyway. The bootstrap compiler could define it to 0 or 0u, neither of which is guaranteed to be OK to pass as a varargs sentinel where a null pointer is expected. Any of (void*)0 or (void*)NULL or nullptr would be safe. While it is possible to fix this by replacing NULL sentinels with nullptrs, such approach would generate backporting conflicts, therefore simply redefine NULL to nullptr at the end of system.h, where it would not confuse system headers. gcc/ChangeLog: 2020-06-30 Ilya Leoshkevich <iii@linux.ibm.com> PR bootstrap/95700 * system.h (NULL): Redefine to nullptr.
