If an interface is marked 'deprecated' then, presumably, at some point it will be withdrawn and no longer available. The 'unavailable' attribute makes it possible to mark up interfaces to indicate this status. It is used quite extensively in some codebases where a single set of headers can be used to permit code generation for multiple system versions. From a configuration perspective, it also allows a compile test to determine that an interface is missing - rather than requiring a link test. The implementation follows the pattern of attribute deprecated, but produces an error (where deprecation produces a warning). This attribute has been implemented in clang for some years. In cleaning up C++'s handling of hidden decls, I renamed its DECL_BUILTIN_P, which checks for loc == BUILTINS_LOCATION to DECL_UNDECLARED_BUILTIN_P, because the location gets updated, if user source declares the builtin, and the predicate no longer holds. The original name was confusing me. (The builtin may still retain builtin properties in the redeclaration, and other predicates can still detect that.) I discovered that tree.h had its own variant 'DECL_IS_BUILTIN', which behaves in (almost) the same manner. And therefore has the same mutating behaviour. This patch deletes the C++ one, and renames tree.h's to DECL_IS_UNDECLARED_BUILTIN, to emphasize its non-constantness. I guess _IS_ wins over _P gcc/ * tree.h (DECL_IS_BUILTIN): Rename to ... (DECL_IS_UNDECLARED_BUILTIN): ... here. This was first submitted many years ago https://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-patches/2010-10/msg02468.html The command line option -fcallgraph-info is added and makes the compiler generate another output file (xxx.ci) for each compilation unit (or LTO partitoin), which is a valid VCG file (you can launch your favorite VCG viewer on it unmodified) and contains the "final" callgraph of the unit. "final" is a bit of a misnomer as this is actually the callgraph at RTL expansion time, but since most high-level optimizations are done at the Tree level and RTL doesn't usually fiddle with calls, it's final in almost all cases. We were shoe-horning all built-in enumerations (including frontend and target-specific ones) into a field of type built_in_function. This was accessed as either an lvalue or an rvalue using DECL_FUNCTION_CODE. The obvious danger with this (as was noted by several ??? comments) is that the ranges have nothing to do with each other, and targets can easily have more built-in functions than generic code. But my patch to make the field bigger was the straw that finally made the problem visible. 2018-01-03poly_int: TYPE_VECTOR_SUBPARTSRichard Sandiford1-1/+4
This patch changes TYPE_VECTOR_SUBPARTS to a poly_uint64. The value is encoded in the 10-bit precision field and was previously always stored as a simple log2 value. The challenge was to use this 10 bits to encode the number of elements in variable-length vectors, so that we didn't need to increase the size of the tree. In practice the number of vector elements should always have the form N + N * X (where X is the runtime value), and as for constant-length vectors, N must be a power of 2 (even though X itself might not be). The patch therefore uses the low 8 bits to encode log2(N) and bit 8 to select between constant-length and variable-length vectors. Targets without variable-length vectors continue to use the old scheme. A new valid_vector_subparts_p function tests whether a given number of elements can be encoded. This is false for the vector modes that represent an LD3 or ST3 vector triple (which we want to treat as arrays of vectors rather than single vectors). The wide_int routines allow things like: wi::add (t, 1) to add 1 to an INTEGER_CST T in its native precision. But we also have: wi::to_offset (t) // Treat T as an offset_int wi::to_widest (t) // Treat T as a widest_int Recently we also gained: wi::to_wide (t, prec) // Treat T as a wide_int in preccision PREC This patch therefore requires: wi::to_wide (t) when operating on INTEGER_CSTs in their native precision. This is just as efficient, and makes it clearer that a deliberate choice is being made to treat the tree as a wide_int in its native precision. This also removes the inconsistency that a) INTEGER_CSTs in their native precision can be used without an accessor but must use wi:: functions instead of C++ operators b) the other forms need an explicit accessor but the result can be used with C++ operators. Add warn_if_not_aligned attribute as well as command line options: -Wif-not-aligned and -Wpacked-not-aligned. __attribute__((warn_if_not_aligned(N))) causes compiler to issue a warning if the field in a struct or union is not aligned to N: typedef unsigned long long __u64 __attribute__((aligned(4),warn_if_not_aligned(8))); struct foo { int i1; int i2; __u64 x; }; __u64 is aligned to 4 bytes. But inside struct foo, __u64 should be aligned at 8 bytes. It is used to define struct foo in such a way that struct foo has the same layout and x has the same alignment when __u64 is aligned at either 4 or 8 bytes. Since struct foo is normally aligned to 4 bytes, a warning will be issued: warning: alignment 4 of 'struct foo' is less than 8 Align struct foo to 8 bytes: struct foo { int i1; int i2; __u64 x; } __attribute__((aligned(8))); silences the warning. This patch implements support for marking CALL_EXPRs as being mandatory for tail-call-optimization. expand_call tries harder to perform the optimization on such CALL_EXPRs, and issues an error if it fails.
