2020-05-26jit: fix missing types for builtins [PR 95306]David Malcolm2-1/+35
PR jit/95306 reports that attempts to use builtins __builtin_sadd_overflow" and "__builtin_memcpy" via gcc_jit_context_get_builtin_function lead to inscrutable error messages of the form: unimplemented primitive type for builtin: 42 and: unimplemented primitive type for builtin: 38 The root cause is that jit-builtins.c only implements a subset of the types defined via DEF_PRIMITIVE_TYPE in builtin-types.def. This patch: - implements enough types to enable the above two builtins to be referenced - documents gcc_jit_context_get_builtin_function, and notes the limitation that not all types are supported (supporting some of them would take a lot of extra work) - improves the error message for the unsupported cases - adds a testcase for __builtin_memcpy. This required jit_langhook_global_bindings_p to be implemented (otherwise the assertion there failed deep inside "expand" on the builtin) - adds test coverage for the above gcc/jit/ChangeLog: PR jit/95306 * docs/topics/functions.rst (gcc_jit_context_get_builtin_function): Document. * docs/_build/texinfo/libgccjit.texi: Regenerate. * dummy-frontend.c (jit_langhook_global_bindings_p): Remove gcc_unreachable. * jit-builtins.c (type_names): New array. PR jit/95296 reports an ICE when using libgccjit to create a local of void type. This patch adds checking to various API entrypoints in libgccjit.c so that they fail gracefully with an error if the client code attempts to create various kinds of rvalues or types involving void types. There were a couple of ways that libgccjit could fail to unlink all of its tempfiles, leading to /tmp/libgccjit-* tempdirs lingering after the build: - dumpfiles requested by gcc_jit_context_enable_dump - ahead-of-time compilation artifacts which lingered in the tempdir after they've been copied up to the output_path. This was only the case for GCC_JIT_OUTPUT_KIND_OBJECT_FILE and GCC_JIT_OUTPUT_KIND_EXECUTABLE. The following patch fixes these by introducing a vec of additional cleanups to be performed by gcc:jit::tempdir's dtor. In addition, if a gcc_jit_result * is leaked and GCC_JIT_BOOL_OPTION_DEBUGINFO is enabled, the tempdir will also not be cleaned up. This was the case for tut04-toyvm/toyvm.cc which the patch fixes by introducing a wrapper around gcc_jit_result *. gcc/jit/ChangeLog: * TODO.rst (Test suite): Remove item about running C++ testcases. * docs/internals/index.rst (Working on the JIT library): Add "c++" to the enabled languages in the suggested "configure" invocation, and add a description of why this is necessary. * docs/_build/texinfo/libgccjit.texi: Regenerate. gcc/testsuite/ChangeLog: * jit.dg/jit.exp: Load wrapper.exp with %{tool} set to "g++" rather than "jit". Load g++.exp, and call g++_init. Run test-*.cc files within the testsuite and *.cc files within docs/examples. (jit-dg-test): Drop the addition of -fgnu89-inline to DEFAULT_CFLAGS in favor of adding it to additional_flags, only doing it when compiling C testcases (since g++ does not handle it). Reset "orig_environment_saved" so that LD_LIBRARY_PATH is restored to the value after g++_init ran, rather than the value before g++_init ran.
