The following patch detects the powerpc64le-linux kind == 16 cases
and for the -mabi=ieeelongdouble case (no matter whether it is the
configured in default or just option used on the command line) uses
_r17 or _c17 instead of _r16 or _c17 in the library API names.
From what I can see, e.g. calls to sin on real(kind = 16) works fine
with or without this patch (we call __builtin_sinl and the backend
uses rs6000_mangle_decl_assembler_name which ensures __sinieee128
is called).
What is clearly still broken is IO, where for
real(kind=16) a
a = 1.0
print *, a
end
we call
_gfortran_transfer_real_write (&dt_parm.0, &a, 16);
for both -mabi=ibmlongdouble and -mabi=ieeelongdouble
I don't remember what was the agreement, do we want
_gfortran_transfer_real_write (&dt_parm.0, &a, 17);
for the ieeelongdouble case, or some new entrypoint for
the abi_kind == 17 real/complex IO?
Also, what about kind stored in array descriptors? Shall we use
there the abi_kind or kind?
I guess at least before the IO case is solved there is no point
in checking the testsuite, too many things will be majorly broken...

The KIND argument of the INDEX intrinsic is a compile time constant
that is used at compile time only to resolve to a kind-specific library
function. That argument is otherwise completely ignored at runtime, and there is
no code generated for it as the library procedure has no kind argument.
This confuses the scalarizer which expects to see every argument
of elemental functions used when calling a procedure.
This change removes the argument from the scalarization lists
at the beginning of the scalarization process, so that the argument
is completely ignored.
This also reverts the existing workaround
(commit d09847357b965a2c2cda063827ce362d4c9c86f2 except for its testcase).

gfortran uses internally a different array descriptor ("gfc") as
Fortran 2018 alias TS291113 defines for C interoperability via
ISO_Fortran_binding.h ("CFI"). Hence, when calling a C function
from Fortran, it has to be converted in the callee - and if a
BIND(C) procedure is written in Fortran, the CFI argument has
to be converted to gfc in order work with the rest of the FE
code and the library calls.
Before this patch, part was handled in the FE generated code and
other parts in libgfortran. With this patch, all code is generated
and CFI is defined as proper type - visible in the debugger and to
the middle end - avoiding both alias issues and missed optimization
issues.
This patch also fixes issues like: intent(out) deallocation in
the bind(C) callee, using the CFI descriptor also for allocatable
and pointer scalars and for len=* character strings.
For 'select rank', it also optimizes the code + avoid accessing
uninitialized memory if the dummy argument is allocatable/a pointer.
It additionally rejects passing a descriptorless type(*) to an
assumed-rank dummy argument. [F2018:C711]

Starting point was PR102541, were a previous patch caused an invalid
e->ref access for class. When testing, it turned out that for
CLASS to CLASS the code was never executed - additionally, issues
appeared for optional and a bogus error for -fcheck=all. In particular:
There were a bunch of issues related to optional CLASS, can have the
'attr.dummy' set in CLASS_DATA (sym) - but sometimes also in 'sym'!?!
Additionally, gfc_variable_attr could return pointer = 1 for nonpointers
when the expr is no longer "var" but "var%_data".

This code inlines the size0 and size1 libgfortran calls, the former is still
used by libgfortan itself (and by old code). Besides permitting more
optimizations, it also permits to handle assumed-rank dummies better: If the
dummy argument is a nonpointer/nonallocatable, an assumed-size actual arg is
repesented by having ubound == -1 for the last dimension. However, for
allocatable/pointers, this value can also exist. Hence, the dummy arg attr
has to be honored.
For that reason, when calling an assumed-rank procedure with nonpointer,
nonallocatable dummy arguments, the bounds have to be updated to avoid
the case ubound == -1 for the last dimension.

Options: -fopenmp and -fopenacc imply concurrent calls to a

that larger local const-size array variables use static memory.
Run-time recursion check: Always reset the check variable at the

[PR92305]
The following patch fixes
-FAIL: libgomp.fortran/use_device_addr-1.f90 -O0 execution test
-FAIL: libgomp.fortran/use_device_addr-2.f90 -O0 execution test
that has been FAILing for several months on powerpc64le-linux.
The problem is in the Fortran FE, which adds the artificial arguments
for scalar VALUE OPTIONAL dummy args only to DECL_ARGUMENTS where the
current function can see them, but not to TYPE_ARG_TYPES; if those functions
aren't varargs, this confuses calls.c to pass the remaining arguments
(which aren't named (== not covered by TYPE_ARG_TYPES) and aren't varargs
either) in a different spot from what the callee (which has proper
DECL_ARGUMENTS for all args) expects. For the artificial length arguments
for character dummy args we already put them in both DECL_ARGUMENTS and
TYPE_ARG_TYPES.

PR fortran/92305
* trans-types.c (gfc_get_function_type): Also push boolean_type_node
types for non-character scalar VALUE optional dummy arguments.
* trans-decl.c (create_function_arglist): Skip those in
hidden_typelist. Formatting fix.

This is something that has been discussed already a few months ago, but
seems to have stalled. Here is Paul's patch from the PR except for the
TREE_STATIC hunk which is wrong, and does the most conservative fn spec
tweak for the problematic two builtins we are aware of (to repeat what is in
the PR, both .wR and .ww are wrong for these builtins that transform one
layout of an descriptor to another one; while the first pointer is properly
marked that we only store to what it points to, from the second pointer
we copy and reshuffle the content and store into the first one; if there
wouldn't be any pointers, ".wr" would be just fine, but as there is a
pointer and that pointer is copied to the area pointed by first argument,
the pointer effectively leaks that way, so we e.g. can't optimize stores
into what the data pointer in the descriptor points to). I haven't
analyzed other fn spec attributes in the FE, but think it is better to
fix at least this one we have analyzed.

As part of PR 91413, GFortran now prints a warning when a variable is
moved from the stack to static storage. However, when the user
explicitly specifies that all local variables should be put in static
storage with the -fno-automatic option, don't print this warning.
Regtested on x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, committed as obvious.
