2019-10-01DWARF array bounds missing from C++ array definitionsAlexandre Oliva1-1/+31
A variable redeclaration or definition that provides additional type information for it, e.g. outermost array bounds, is not reflected in the debug information for the variable. With this patch, the debug info of the variable specialization gets a type attribute with the adjusted type. This patch affects mostly only array bounds. However, when the symbolic type used in a declaration and in a definition are different, although they refer to the same type, debug information will end up (correctly?) naming different symbolic types in the specification and the definition. Also, when a readonly declaration of an array loses the readonly flag at the definition because of the initializer, the definition may end up referencing a type while the specification refers to a const-qualified version of that type. If the type of the variable is already const-qualified, e.g. an array of a const type, the difference is meaningless. for gcc/ChangeLog PR debug/91507 * dwarf2out.c (override_type_for_decl_p): New. 2019-10-01Remove clobber_highRichard Sandiford1-1/+0
The AArch64 SVE tlsdesc patterns were the main motivating reason for clobber_high. It's no longer needed now that the patterns use calls instead. At the time, one of the possible future uses for clobber_high was for asm statements. However, the current code wouldn't handle that case without modification, so I think we might as well remove it for now. 2019-09-18Two more POLY_INT cases for dwarf2out.cRichard Sandiford1-0/+19
loc_list_for_tree_1 and add_const_value_attribute currently ICE on POLY_INTs. loc_list_for_tree_1 can do something sensible but add_const_value_attribute has to punt, since the constant there needs to be a link-time rather than load-time or run-time constant. Even if there was no, or an empty address list we would try to generate a header for the .debug_addr section with -gdwarf-5 and -gsplit-dwarf. The skeleton DIE would also get a (dangling) DW_AT_addr_base in that case. dwarf2out_finish performs: 1. save_macinfo_strings 2. hash table traverse of index_string 3. output_macinfo -> output_macinfo_op 4. output_indirect_strings -> hash table traverse of output_index_string find_slot_with_hash has if (insert == INSERT && m_size * 3 <= m_n_elements * 4) expand (); which may expand hash table even if no insertion is neeed and change hash table traverse order. When output_macinfo_op is called, all index strings have been added to hash table by save_macinfo_strings and we shouldn't expand index string hash table. Otherwise find_slot_with_hash will expand hash table when hash table has the right size and hash table traverse of output_index_string will have a different traverse order from index_string. Now new features are starting to be added to a C2X draft (in the C2x branch of the C standard git repository, no public WG14 document yet), it's time to add -std=c2x and associated options to GCC for use in enabling C2X features. This patch adds the expected set of options: -std=c2x, -std=gnu2x, -Wc11-c2x-compat. A first C2X feature is added (the only one so far in the repository that's obviously relevant to GCC): support (as in C++) for the string constant to be omitted in _Static_assert. This feature is duly also supported as an extension in earlier standard modes (diagnosed with -pedantic, unless -Wno-c11-c2x-compat is given, or with -Wc11-c2x-compat even in C2X mode).
