Here, since we only mention bar<B>, we never emit debug information for it.
But we do emit debug information for H<J>::h, so we need to refer to the
debug info for bar<B>::J even though there is no bar<B>. We deal with this
sort of thing in dwarf2out with the limbo_die_list; parentless dies like J
get attached to the CU at EOF. But here, we were flushing the limbo list,
then generating the template argument DIE for H<J> that refers to J, which
adds J to the limbo list, too late to be flushed. So let's flush a little
later.

The Ada language supports fixed-point types as first-class citizens so
they need to be described as-is in the debug info. We devised the
langhook get_fixed_point_type_info for this purpose a few years ago,
but it comes with a limitation for the representation of the scale
factor that we would need to lift in order to be able to represent
more fixed-point types.
gcc/ChangeLog:
* dwarf2out.h (struct fixed_point_type_info) <scale_factor>: Turn
numerator and denominator into a tree.
* dwarf2out.c (base_type_die): In the case of a fixed-point type
with arbitrary scale factor, call add_scalar_info on numerator and
denominator to emit the appropriate attributes.
gcc/ada/ChangeLog:
* exp_dbug.adb (Is_Handled_Scale_Factor): Delete.
(Get_Encoded_Name): Do not call it.
* gcc-interface/decl.c (gnat_to_gnu_entity) <Fixed_Point_Type>:
Tidy up and always use a meaningful description for arbitrary
scale factors.
* gcc-interface/misc.c (gnat_get_fixed_point_type_info): Remove
obsolete block and adjust the description of the scale factor.

Aldy's PR71855 fix avoided emitting multiple redundant
DW_TAG_unspecified_parameters sub-DIEs of a single DIE by restricting
it to early dwarf only. That unfortunately means if we need to emit
another DIE for the function (whether it is for LTO, or e.g. because of
IPA cloning), we don't emit DW_TAG_unspecified_parameters, it remains
solely in the DW_AT_abstract_origin's referenced DIE.
But DWARF consumers don't really use DW_TAG_unspecified_parameters
from there, like we duplicate DW_TAG_formal_parameter sub-DIEs even in the
clones because either they have some more specific location, or e.g.
a function clone could have fewer or different argument types etc.,
they need to assume that originally stdarg function isn't later stdarg etc.
Unfortunately, while for DW_TAG_formal_parameter sub-DIEs, we can use the
hash tabs to look the PARM_DECLs if we already have the DIEs, for
DW_TAG_unspecified_parameters we don't have an easy way to look it up.
The following patch handles it by trying to figure out if we are creating a
fresh new DIE (in that case we add DW_TAG_unspecified_parameters if it is
stdarg), or if gen_subprogram_die is called again on an pre-existing DIE
to fill in some further details (then it will not touch it).
Except for lto, subr_die != old_die would be good enough, but unfortunately
for LTO the new DIE that will refer to early dwarf created DIE is created
on the fly during lookup_decl_die. So the patch tracks if the DIE has
no children before any children are added to it.

PR debug/97599
* dwarf2out.c (gen_subprogram_die): Call
gen_unspecified_parameters_die even if not early dwarf, but only
if subr_die is a newly created DIE.

This feature allows the programmer to import enumerator names into the
current scope so later mentions don't need to use the fully-qualified name.
These usings are not subject to the usual restrictions on using-decls: in
particular, they can move between class and non-class scopes, and between
classes that are not related by inheritance. This last caused difficulty
for our normal approach to using-decls within a class hierarchy, as we
assume that the class where we looked up a used declaration is derived from
the class where it was first declared. So to simplify things, in that case
we make a clone of the CONST_DECL in the using class.
Thanks to Nathan for the start of this work: in particular, the
lookup_using_decl rewrite.
The changes to dwarf2out revealed an existing issue with the D front-end: we
were doing the wrong thing for importing a D CONST_DECL, because
dwarf2out_imported_module_or_decl_1 was looking through it to its type,
expecting it to be an enumerator, but in one case in thread.d, the constant
had type int. Adding the ability to import a C++ enumerator also fixed
that, but that led to a crash in force_decl_die, which didn't know what to
do with a CONST_DECL. So now it does.

indirections.
At present, the output of .cfi_personality and .cfi_lsda assumes
ELF semantics for indirections. This isn't suitable for all targets

In cleaning up C++'s handling of hidden decls, I renamed its
DECL_BUILTIN_P, which checks for loc == BUILTINS_LOCATION to
DECL_UNDECLARED_BUILTIN_P, because the location gets updated, if user
source declares the builtin, and the predicate no longer holds. The
original name was confusing me. (The builtin may still retain builtin
properties in the redeclaration, and other predicates can still detect
that.)
I discovered that tree.h had its own variant 'DECL_IS_BUILTIN', which
behaves in (almost) the same manner. And therefore has the same
mutating behaviour.
This patch deletes the C++ one, and renames tree.h's to
DECL_IS_UNDECLARED_BUILTIN, to emphasize its non-constantness. I
guess _IS_ wins over _P

The change to clear the external_die_map slot after creating

When gas outputs DWARF5 .debug_line[_str] then we have to tell it the
comp_dir and main file name for the zero entry line table. Otherwise
gas has to guess at the CU compilation directory and file.
Before a gcc -gdwarf-5 ../src/hello.c line table looked like:
Directory table:
0 ../src (24)
1 ../src (24)
2 /usr/include (31)
File name table:
0 hello.c (16), 0
1 hello.c (16), 1
2 stdio.h (44), 2
With this patch it looks like:
Directory table:
0 /tmp/obj (0)
1 ../src (24)
2 /usr/include (31)
File name table:
0 ../src/hello.c (9), 0
1 hello.c (16), 1
2 stdio.h (44), 2
gcc/ChangeLog:
* dwarf2out.c (dwarf2out_finish): Emit .file 0 entry when
generating DWARF5 .debug_line table through gas.

DWARF5 has a new string table specially for file paths. .debug_line
file and dir tables reference strings in .debug_line_str. If a
.debug_line_str section is emitted then also place CU DIE file
names and comp dirs there.

This fixes compilation of codepaths for dos-like filesystems
with Clang. When built with clang, it treats C input files as C++
when the compiler driver is invoked in C++ mode, triggering errors
when the return value of strchr() on a pointer to const is assigned
to a pointer to non-const variable.
This matches similar variables outside of the ifdefs for dos-like

The addition of NOTE_INSN_BEGIN_STMT and NOTE_INSN_INLINE_ENTRY notes
reintroduced quadratic behavior into dwarf2out_var_location.
This function needs to know the next real instruction to which the var
location note applies, but the way final_scan_insn is called outside of
final.c main loop doesn't make it easy to look up the next real insn in
there (and for non-dwarf it is even useless). Usually next real insn is
only a few notes away, but we can have hundreds of thousands of consecutive
notes only followed by a real insn. dwarf2out_var_location to avoid the
quadratic behavior contains a cache, it remembers the next note and when it
is called again on that loc_note, it can use the previously computed
dwarf2out_next_real_insn result, rather than walking the insn chain once
again. But, for NOTE_INSN_{BEGIN_STMT,INLINE_ENTRY} dwarf2out_var_location
is not called while the code puts into the cache those notes, which means if
we have e.g. in the worst case NOTE_INSN_VAR_LOCATION and
NOTE_INSN_BEGIN_STMT notes alternating, the cache is not really used.
The following patch fixes it by looking up the next NOTE_INSN_VAR_LOCATION
if any. While the lookup could be perhaps done together with looking for
the next real insn once (e.g. in dwarf2out_next_real_insn or its copy),
there are other dwarf2out_next_real_insn callers which don't need/want that
behavior and if there are more than two NOTE_INSN_VAR_LOCATION notes
followed by the same real insn, we need to do that "find next
NOTE_INSN_VAR_LOCATION" walk anyway.
On the testcase from the PR this patch speeds it 2.8times, from 0m0.674s
to 0m0.236s (why it takes for the reporter more than 60s is unknown).

This patch simplifies (!!!) the logic governing the naming of dump
files and auxiliary output files in the driver, in the compiler, and
in the LTO wrapper. No changes are made to the naming of primary
outputs, there are often ways to restore past behavior, and a number
of inconsistencies are fixed. Some internal options are removed
(-auxbase and -auxbase-strip), sensible existing uses of -dumpdir and
-dumpbase options remain unchanged, additional useful cases are added,
making for what is still admittedly quite complex. Extensive
documentation and testcases provide numerous examples, from normal to
corner cases.
The most visible changes are:
- aux and dump files now always go in the same directory, that
defaults to the directory of the primary output, but that can be
overridden with -dumpdir, -save-temps=*, or, preserving past behavior,
with a -dumpbase with a directory component.
- driver and compiler now have the same notion of naming of auxiliary
outputs, e.g. .dwo files will no longer be in one location while the
debug info suggests they are elsewhere, and -save-temps and .dwo
auxiliary outputs now go in the same location as .su, .ci and
coverage data, with consistent naming.
- explicitly-specified primary output names guide not only the
location of aux and dump outputs: the output base name is also used in
their base name, as a prefix when also linking (e.g. foo.c bar.c -o
foobar creates foobar-foo.dwo and foobar-bar.dwo with -gsplit-dwarf),
or as the base name instead of the input name (foo.c -c -o whatever.o
creates whatever.su rather than foo.su with -fstack-usage). The
preference for the input file base name, quite useful for our
testsuite, can be restored with -dumpbase "". When compiling and
linking tests in the testsuite with additional inputs, we now use this
flag. Files named in dejagnu board ldflags, libs, and ldscripts are
now quoted in the gcc testsuite with -Wl, so that they are not counted
as additional inputs by the compiler driver.
- naming a -dumpbase when compiling multiple sources used to cause
dumps from later compiles to overwrite those of earlier ones; it is
now used as a prefix when compiling multiple sources, like an
executable name above.
- the dumpbase, explicitly specified or computed from output or input
names, now also governs the naming of aux outputs; since aux outputs
usually replaced the suffix from the input name, while dump outputs
append their own additional suffixes, a -dumpbase-ext option is
introduced to enable a chosen suffix to be dropped from dumpbase to
form aux output names.
- LTO dump and aux outputs were quite a mess, sometimes leaking
temporary output names into -save-temps output names, sometimes
conversely generating desirable aux outputs in temporary locations.
They now obey the same logic of compiler aux and dump outputs, landing
in the expected location and taking the linker output name or an
explicit dumpbase overrider into account.
- Naming of -fdump-final-insns outputs now follows the dump file
naming logic for the .gkd files, and the .gk dump files generated in
the second -fcompare-debug compilation get the .gk inserted before the
suffix that -dumpbase-ext drops in aux outputs.

I think for the next C++ standard we can just call it C++23 rather than
C++2b, since the committee has been consistent about time-based releases
rather than feature-based.

On the following testcase, in gdb ptype S<long>::m1 prints long as return
type, but all the other methods show void instead.
PR53756 added code to add_type_attribute if the return type is
auto/decltype(auto), but we actually should look through references,
pointers and qualifiers.
Haven't included there DW_TAG_atomic_type, because I think at least ATM
one can't use that in C++. Not sure about DW_TAG_array_type or what else
could be deduced.

In the r10-7197-gbae7b38cf8a21e068ad5c0bab089dedb78af3346 commit I've
noticed duplicated word in a message, which lead me to grep for those and
we have a tons of them.
I've used
grep -v 'long long\|optab optab\|template template\|double double' *.[chS] */*.[chS] *.def config/*/* 2>/dev/null | grep ' \([a-zA-Z]\+\) \1 '
Note, the command will not detect the doubled words at the start or end of
line or when one of the words is at the end of line and the next one at the
start of another one.
Some of it is fairly obvious, e.g. all the "the the" cases which is
something I've posted and committed patch for already e.g. in 2016,
other cases are often valid, e.g. "that that" seems to look mostly ok to me.
Some cases are quite hard to figure out, I've left out some of them from the
patch (e.g. "and and" in some cases isn't talking about bitwise/logical and
and so looks incorrect, but in other cases it is talking about those
operations).
In most cases the right solution seems to be to remove one of the duplicated
words, but not always.
I think most important are the ones with user visible messages (in the patch
3 of the first 4 hunks), the rest is just comments (and internal
documentation; for that see the doc/tm.texi changes).

The dwarf2 handling of vector constants currently divides the vector
into a length (number of elements) and byte element size. This doesn't
work well for MODE_VECTOR_BOOL, where several elements are packed into

We should probably add a way of encoding this in future, but for now
the safest thing is to punt, like we already do for variable-length
vectors.

A variable redeclaration or definition that provides additional type
information for it, e.g. outermost array bounds, is not reflected in
the debug information for the variable. With this patch, the debug
info of the variable specialization gets a type attribute with the
adjusted type.
This patch affects mostly only array bounds. However, when the
symbolic type used in a declaration and in a definition are different,
although they refer to the same type, debug information will end up
(correctly?) naming different symbolic types in the specification and
the definition. Also, when a readonly declaration of an array loses
the readonly flag at the definition because of the initializer, the
definition may end up referencing a type while the specification
refers to a const-qualified version of that type. If the type of the
variable is already const-qualified, e.g. an array of a const type,
the difference is meaningless.

The AArch64 SVE tlsdesc patterns were the main motivating reason
for clobber_high. It's no longer needed now that the patterns use
calls instead.
At the time, one of the possible future uses for clobber_high was for
asm statements. However, the current code wouldn't handle that case
without modification, so I think we might as well remove it for now.
We can always reapply it in future if it turns out to be useful again.
