2022-10-21c++: Fix up mangling ICE with void{} [PR106863]Jakub Jelinek1-1/+8
We ICE on the following testcase during mangling, finish_compound_literal returns for void{} void_node and the mangler doesn't handle it. Handling void_node in the mangler seems problematic to me, because we don't know for which case it has been created. The following patch arranges to mangle it as other compound literals with no operands, so it demangles as void{}, by returning a void type COMPOUND_LITERAL_P with no elements if processing_template_decl. Otherwise it keeps returning void_node. 2022-10-21 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> PR c++/106863 * semantics.cc (finish_compound_literal): For void{}, if processing_template_decl return a COMPOUND_LITERAL_P CONSTRUCTOR rather than void_node. * g++.dg/cpp0x/dr2351-2.C: New test.
2022-10-07c++: track whether we expect a TARGET_EXPR to be elidedJason Merrill1-4/+8
A discussion at Cauldron made me think that with the formalization of copy elision in C++17, we should be able to determine before optimization which TARGET_EXPRs will become temporaries and which are initializers. This patch implements that: we set TARGET_EXPR_ELIDING_P if it's used as an initializer, and later check that we were right. There's an exception in the cp_gimplify_expr check to allow extra temporaries of non-addressable type: this is used by gimplify_init_ctor_preeval to materialize subobjects of a CONSTRUCTOR on the rhs of a MODIFY_EXPR rather than materializing the whole object. If the type isn't addressable, there's no way for a program to tell the difference, so this is a valid optimization. I considered changing replace_placeholders_for_class_temp_r to check TARGET_EXPR_ELIDING_P instead of potential_prvalue_result_of, but decided that would be wrong: if we have an eliding TARGET_EXPR inside a non-eliding one, we would miss replacing its placeholders. gcc/cp/ChangeLog: * cp-tree.h (TARGET_EXPR_ELIDING_P): New. 2022-10-06c++, c: Implement C++23 P1774R8 - Portable assumptions [PR106654]Jakub Jelinek1-50/+25
The following patch implements C++23 P1774R8 - Portable assumptions paper, by introducing support for [[assume (cond)]]; attribute for C++. In addition to that the patch adds [[gnu::assume (cond)]]; and __attribute__((assume (cond))); support to both C and C++. As described in C++23, the attribute argument is conditional-expression rather than the usual assignment-expression for attribute arguments, the condition is contextually converted to bool (for C truthvalue conversion is done on it) and is never evaluated at runtime. For C++ constant expression evaluation, I only check the simplest conditions for undefined behavior, because otherwise I'd need to undo changes to *ctx->global which happened during the evaluation (but I believe the spec allows that and we can further improve later). The patch uses a new internal function, .ASSUME, to hold the condition in the FEs. At gimplification time, if the condition is simple/without side-effects, it is gimplified as if (cond) ; else __builtin_unreachable (); and otherwise for now dropped on the floor. The intent is to incrementally outline the conditions into separate artificial functions and use .ASSUME further to tell the ranger and perhaps other optimization passes about the assumptions, as detailed in the PR. When implementing it, I found that assume entry hasn't been added to https://eel.is/c++draft/cpp.cond#6 Jonathan said he'll file a NB comment about it, this patch assumes it has been added into the table as 202207L when the paper has been voted in. With the attributes for both C/C++, I'd say we don't need to add __builtin_assume with similar purpose, especially when __builtin_assume in LLVM is just weird. It is strange for side-effects in function call's argument not to be evaluated, and LLVM in that case (annoyingly) warns and ignores the side-effects (but doesn't do then anything with it), if there are no side-effects, it will work like our if (!cond) __builtin_unreachable (); 2022-10-06 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> PR c++/106654 gcc/ * internal-fn.def (ASSUME): New internal function. * internal-fn.h (expand_ASSUME): Declare. * internal-fn.cc (expand_ASSUME): Define. * gimplify.cc (gimplify_call_expr): Gimplify IFN_ASSUME. * fold-const.h (simple_condition_p): Declare. * fold-const.cc (simple_operand_p_2): Rename to ... 2022-10-04openmp: Add begin declare target supportJakub Jelinek1-4/+8
The following patch adds support for the begin declare target construct, which is another spelling for declare target construct without clauses (where it needs paired end declare target), but unlike that one accepts clauses. This is an OpenMP 5.1 feature, implemented with 5.2 clarification because in 5.1 we had a restriction in the declare target chapter shared by declare target and begin declare target that if there are any clauses specified at least one of them needs to be to or link. But that was of course meant just for declare target and not begin declare target, because begin declare target doesn't even allow to/link/enter clauses. In addition to that, the patch also makes device_type clause duplication an error (as stated in 5.1) and similarly makes declare target with just device_type clause an error rather than warning. What this patch doesn't do is: 1) OpenMP 5.1 also added an indirect clause, we don't support that neither on declare target nor begin declare target and I couldn't find it in our features pages (neither libgomp.texi nor web) 2) I think device_type(nohost)/device_type(host) support can't work for variables (in 5.0 it only talked about procedures so this could be also thought as 5.1 feature that we should just add to the list and implement) 3) I don't see any use of the "omp declare target nohost" attribute, so I'm not sure if device_type(nohost) works at all 2022-10-04 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> gcc/c-family/ * c-omp.cc (c_omp_directives): Uncomment begin declare target entry. gcc/c/ * c-lang.h (struct c_omp_declare_target_attr): New type. 2022-09-27openmp: Add OpenMP assume, assumes and begin/end assumes supportJakub Jelinek1-0/+7
The following patch implements OpenMP 5.1 #pragma omp assume #pragma omp assumes and #pragma omp begin assumes #pragma omp end assumes directive support for C and C++. Currently it doesn't remember anything from the assumption clauses for later, so is mainly to support the directives and diagnose errors in their use. If the recently posted C++23 [[assume (cond)]]; support makes it in, the intent is that this can be easily adjusted at least for the #pragma omp assume directive with holds clause(s) to use the same infrastructure. Now, C++23 portable assumptions are slightly different from OpenMP 5.1 assumptions' holds clause in that C++23 assumption holds just where it appears, while OpenMP 5.1 assumptions hold everywhere in the scope of the directive. For assumes directive which can appear at file or namespace scope it is the whole TU and everything that functions from there call at runtime, for begin assumes/end assumes pair all the functions in between those directives and everything they call and for assume directive the associated (currently structured) block. I have no idea how to represents such holds to be usable for optimizers, except to make #pragma omp assume holds (cond) block; expand essentially to [[assume (cond)]]; block; or [[assume (cond)]]; block; [[assume (cond)]]; for now. Except for holds clause, the other assumptions are OpenMP related, I'd say we should brainstorm where it would be useful to optimize based on such information (I guess e.g. in target regions it easily could) and only when we come up with something like that think about how to propagate the assumptions to the optimizers. 2022-09-27 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> gcc/c-family/ * c-pragma.h (enum pragma_kind): Add PRAGMA_OMP_ASSUME, PRAGMA_OMP_ASSUMES and PRAGMA_OMP_BEGIN. 2022-09-23c++: Implement __is_{nothrow_,}convertible [PR106784]Marek Polacek1-0/+8
To improve compile times, the C++ library could use compiler built-ins rather than implementing std::is_convertible (and _nothrow) as class templates. This patch adds the built-ins. We already have __is_constructible and __is_assignable, and the nothrow forms of those. Microsoft (and clang, for compatibility) also provide an alias called __is_convertible_to. I did not add it, but it would be trivial to do so. I noticed that our __is_assignable doesn't implement the "Access checks are performed as if from a context unrelated to either type" requirement, therefore std::is_assignable / __is_assignable give two different results here: class S { operator int(); friend void g(); // #1 }; void g () { // #1 doesn't matter static_assert(std::is_assignable<int&, S>::value, ""); static_assert(__is_assignable(int&, S), ""); } This is not a problem if __is_assignable is not meant to be used by the users. This patch doesn't make libstdc++ use the new built-ins, but I had to rename a class otherwise its name would clash with the new built-in. 2022-09-14OpenMP/OpenACC: mapping group list-handling improvementsJulian Brown1-1/+25
This patch adjusts OpenMP/OpenACC clause list handling in a couple of places, in preparation for the following mapping-clause expansion rework patch. Firstly mapping groups are removed as a whole in the C and C++ front-ends when an error is detected, which avoids leaving "badly-formed" mapping clause groups in the list. Secondly, reindexing of the omp_mapping_group hashmap (during omp_build_struct_sibling_lists) has been reimplemented, fixing some tricky corner-cases where mapping groups are removed from a list at the same time as it is being reordered. Thirdly, code to check if a different clause on the same directive maps the whole of a struct that we have a component mapping for (for example) has been outlined, removing a bit of code duplication. 2022-09-13 Julian Brown <julian@codesourcery.com> gcc/ * gimplify.cc (omp_group_last): Allow GOMP_MAP_ATTACH_DETACH after GOMP_MAP_STRUCT (for reindexing). 2022-09-12c++: remove '_sfinae' suffix from functionsPatrick Palka1-3/+3
The functions abstract_virtuals_error cxx_constant_value get_target_expr instantiate_non_dependent_expr require_complete_type are each just a non-SFINAE-enabled wrapper for the corresponding SFINAE-enabled version that's suffixed by '_sfinae'. But this suffix is at best redundant since a 'complain' parameter already broadly conveys that a function is SFINAE-enabled, and having two such versions of a function is less concise than just using a default argument for 'complain' (and arguably no less mistake prone). So this patch squashes the two versions of each of the above functions by adding a default 'complain' argument to the SFINAE-enabled version whose '_sfinae' suffix we then remove. gcc/cp/ChangeLog: * call.cc (build_conditional_expr): Adjust calls to '_sfinae'-suffixed functions. 2022-09-08c++: Fix type completeness checks for type traits [PR106838]Jonathan Wakely1-12/+46
The check_trait_type function is used for a number of different type traits that have different requirements on their arguments. For example, __is_constructible allows arrays of unknown bound even if the array element is an incomplete type, but __is_aggregate does not, it always requires the array element type to be complete. Other traits have different requirements again, e.g. __is_empty allows incomplete unions, and arrays (of known or unknown bound) of incomplete types. This alters the check_trait_type function to take an additional KIND parameter which indicates which set of type trait requirements to check. As noted in a comment, the requirements for __is_aggregate deviate from the ones for std::is_aggregate in the standard. It's not necessary for the elements of an array to be complete types, because arrays are always aggregates. The type_has_virtual_destructor change is needed to avoid an ICE. Previously it could never be called for incomplete union types as they were (incorrectly) rejected by check_trait_type. This change causes some additional diagnostics in some libstdc++ tests, where the front end was not previously complaining about invalid types that the library assertions diagnosed. We should consider removing the library assertions from traits where the front end implements the correct checks now. PR c++/106838 gcc/cp/ChangeLog: * class.cc (type_has_virtual_destructor): Return false for union types. * semantics.cc (check_trait_type): Add KIND parameter to support different sets of requirements. 2022-09-07openmp: Fix handling of target constructs in static member functions [PR106829]Jakub Jelinek1-9/+8
Just calling current_nonlambda_class_type in static member functions returns non-NULL, but something that isn't *this and if unlucky can match part of the IL and can be added to target clauses. if (DECL_NONSTATIC_MEMBER_P (decl) && current_class_ptr) is a guard used elsewhere (in check_accessibility_of_qualified_id). 2022-09-07 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> PR c++/106829 * semantics.cc (finish_omp_target_clauses): If current_function_decl isn't a nonstatic member function, don't set data.current_object to non-NULL. * g++.dg/gomp/pr106829.C: New test.
2022-09-03openmp: Partial OpenMP 5.2 doacross and omp_cur_iteration supportJakub Jelinek1-11/+8
The following patch implements part of the OpenMP 5.2 changes related to ordered loops and with the assumed resolution of https://github.com/OpenMP/spec/issues/3302 issues. The changes are: 1) the depend clause on stand-alone ordered constructs has been renamed to doacross (because depend clause has different syntax on other constructs) with some syntax changes below, depend clause is deprecated (we'll deprecate stuff on the GCC side only when we have everything else from 5.2 implemented) depend(source) -> doacross(source:) or doacross(source:omp_cur_iteration) depend(sink:vec) -> doacross(sink:vec) (where vec has the same syntax as before) 2) in 5.1 and before it has been significant whether ordered clause has or doesn't have an argument, if it didn't, only block-associated ordered could appear in the body, if it did, only stand-alone ordered could appear in the body, all loops had to be perfectly nested, no associated range-based for loops, no linear clause on work-sharing loop and ordered clause with an argument wasn't allowed on composite for simd. In 5.2, whether ordered clause has or doesn't have an argument is insignificant (except for bugs in the standard, #3302 mentions those), if the argument is missing, it is simply treated as equal to collapse argument (if any, otherwise 1). The implementation better should be able to differentiate between ordered and doacross loops at compile time which previously was through the absence or presence of the argument, now it is done through looking at the body of the construct lexically and looking for stand-alone ordered constructs. If there are any, it is to be handled as doacross loop, otherwise it is ordered loop (but in that case ordered argument if present must be equal to collapse argument - 5.2 says instead it must be one, but that is clearly wrong and mentioned in #3302) - stand-alone ordered constructs must appear lexically in the body (and had to before as well). For the restrictions mentioned above, the for simd restriction is gone (stand-alone ordered can't appear in simd construct, so that is enough), and the other rules are expected to be changed into something related to presence of stand-alone ordered constructs in the body 3) 5.2 allows a new syntax, doacross(sink:omp_cur_iteration-1), which means wait for previous iteration in the iteration space of all the associated loops The following patch implements that, except that we sorry for now on the doacross(sink:omp_cur_iteration-1) syntax during omp expansion because library side isn't done yet for it. It doesn't implement it for the Fortran FE either. Incrementally, I'd like to change the way we differentiate between stand-alone and block-associated ordered constructs, because the current way of looking for presence of doacross clause doesn't work well if those clauses are removed because they had been invalid (wrong syntax or unknown variables in it etc.) and of course implement doacross(sink:omp_cur_iteration-1). 2022-09-03 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> gcc/ * tree-core.h (enum omp_clause_code): Add OMP_CLAUSE_DOACROSS. 2022-07-25c++: aggregate prvalue as for range [PR106230]Jason Merrill1-0/+5
Since my PR94041 work on temporary lifetime in aggregate initialization, we end up calling build_vec_init to initialize the reference-extended temporary for the artificial __for_range variable. And build_vec_init uses finish_for_stmt to implement its loop. That function assumes that if __for_range is in current_binding_level, we're finishing a range-for, and we should fix up the variable as it goes out of scope. But when called from build_vec_init we aren't finishing a range-for, and do_poplevel doesn't remove the variable from scope because stmts_are_full_exprs_p is false. 2022-07-15c++: Add __reference_con{struc,ver}ts_from_temporary [PR104477]Marek Polacek1-0/+8
This patch implements C++23 P2255R2, which adds two new type traits to detect reference binding to a temporary. They can be used to detect code like std::tuple<const std::string&> t("meow"); which is incorrect because it always creates a dangling reference, because the std::string temporary is created inside the selected constructor of std::tuple, and not outside it. There are two new compiler builtins, __reference_constructs_from_temporary and __reference_converts_from_temporary. The former is used to simulate direct- and the latter copy-initialization context. But I had a hard time finding a test where there's actually a difference. Under DR 2267, both of these are invalid: struct A { } a; struct B { explicit B(const A&); }; const B &b1{a}; const B &b2(a); so I had to peruse [over.match.ref], and eventually realized that the difference can be seen here: struct G { operator int(); // #1 explicit operator int&&(); // #2 }; int&& r1(G{}); // use #2 (no temporary) int&& r2 = G{}; // use #1 (a temporary is created to be bound to int&&) The implementation itself was rather straightforward because we already have the conv_binds_ref_to_prvalue function. The main function here is ref_xes_from_temporary. I've changed the return type of ref_conv_binds_directly to tristate, because previously the function didn't distinguish between an invalid conversion and one that binds to a prvalue. Since it no longer returns a bool, I removed the _p suffix. The patch also adds the relevant class and variable templates to <type_traits>. 2022-06-23c++: -Waddress and if constexpr [PR94554]Jason Merrill1-3/+7
Like we avoid various warnings for seemingly tautological expressions when substituting a template, we should avoid warning for the implicit conversion to bool in an if statement. I considered also doing this for the conditions in loop expressions, but that seems unnecessary, as a loop condition is unlikely to be a constant. The change to finish_if_stmt_cond isn't necessary since dependent_operand_p looks through IMPLICIT_CONV_EXPR, but makes it more constent with e.g. build_x_binary_op that determines the type of an expression and then builds it using the original operands. 2022-06-07openmp: Add support for OpenMP 5.2 linear clause syntax for C/C++Jakub Jelinek1-4/+16
The syntax for linear clause changed in 5.2, the original syntax which is still valid is: linear (var1, var2) linear (var3, var4 : step1) The 4.5 syntax with modifiers like: linear (val (var5, var6)) linear (val (var7, var8) : step2) is still supported in 5.2, but is deprecated there. Instead, one can use a new syntax: linear (var9, var10 : val) linear (var11, var12 : step (step3), val) As val, ref, uval or step (someexpr) can be valid expressions (and especially in C++ can be const / constexpr / consteval), the spec says that when the whole step expression is val (or ref or uval) or step ( ... ) then it is the new modifier syntax, one can use + 0 or 0 + or 1 * or * 1 or ()s to say it is the old step expression. Also, 5.2 now allows val modifier to be specified even outside of declare simd (but not the other modifiers). I've implemented this for the new modifier syntax only, the old one keeps the old restriction (which is why OMP_CLAUSE_LINEAR_OLD_LINEAR_MODIFIER flag has been introduced). 2022-06-07 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> gcc/ * tree.h (OMP_CLAUSE_LINEAR_OLD_LINEAR_MODIFIER): Define. * tree-pretty-print.cc (dump_omp_clause) <case OMP_CLAUSE_LINEAR>: Adjust clause printing style depending on OMP_CLAUSE_LINEAR_OLD_LINEAR_MODIFIER. gcc/c/ * c-parser.cc (c_parser_omp_clause_linear): Parse OpenMP 5.2 style linear clause modifiers. 2022-05-27openmp: Add support for enter clause on declare targetJakub Jelinek1-12/+14
OpenMP 5.1 and earlier had 2 different uses of to clause, one for target update construct with one semantics, and one for declare target directive with a different semantics. Under the hood we were using OMP_CLAUSE_TO_DECLARE to represent the latter. OpenMP 5.2 renamed the declare target clause to to enter, the old one is kept as a deprecated alias. As we are far from having full OpenMP 5.2 support, this patch adds support for the enter clause (and renames OMP_CLAUSE_TO_DECLARE to OMP_CLAUSE_ENTER with a flag to tell the spelling of the clause for better diagnostics), but doesn't deprecate the to clause on declare target just yet (that should be done as one of the last steps in 5.2 support). 2022-05-27 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> gcc/ * tree-core.h (enum omp_clause_code): Rename OMP_CLAUSE_TO_DECLARE to OMP_CLAUSE_ENTER. * tree.h (OMP_CLAUSE_ENTER_TO): Define. * tree.cc (omp_clause_num_ops, omp_clause_code_name): Rename OMP_CLAUSE_TO_DECLARE to OMP_CLAUSE_ENTER. * tree-pretty-print.cc (dump_omp_clause): Handle OMP_CLAUSE_ENTER instead of OMP_CLAUSE_TO_DECLARE, if OMP_CLAUSE_ENTER_TO, print "to" instead of "enter". * tree-nested.cc (convert_nonlocal_omp_clauses, convert_local_omp_clauses): Handle OMP_CLAUSE_ENTER instead of OMP_CLAUSE_TO_DECLARE. gcc/c-family/ * c-pragma.h (enum pragma_omp_clause): Add PRAGMA_OMP_CLAUSE_ENTER. gcc/c/ * c-parser.cc (c_parser_omp_clause_name): Parse enter clause. 2022-05-12openmp: Add omp_all_memory support (C/C++ only so far)Jakub Jelinek1-11/+33
The ugly part is that OpenMP 5.1 made omp_all_memory a reserved identifier which isn't allowed to be used anywhere but in the depend clause, this is against how everything else has been handled in OpenMP so far (where some identifiers could have special meaning in some OpenMP clauses or pragmas but not elsewhere). The patch handles it by making it a conditional keyword (for -fopenmp only) and emitting a better diagnostics when it is used in a primary expression. Having a nicer diagnostics when e.g. trying to do int omp_all_memory; or int *omp_all_memory[10]; etc. would mean changing too many spots and hooking into name lookups to reject declaring any such symbols would be too ugly and I'm afraid there are way too many spots where one can introduce a name (variables, functions, namespaces, struct, enum, enumerators, template arguments, ...). Otherwise, the handling is quite simple, normal depend clauses lower into addresses of variables being handed over to the library, for omp_all_memory I'm using NULL pointers. omp_all_memory can only be used with inout or out depend kinds and means that a task is dependent on all previously created sibling tasks that have any dependency (of any depend kind) and that any later created sibling tasks will be dependent on it if they have any dependency. 2022-05-12 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> gcc/ * gimplify.cc (gimplify_omp_depend): Don't build_fold_addr_expr if null_pointer_node. 2022-04-28c++: traits, array of unknown bound of incompleteJason Merrill1-2/+1
My r161129 changed check_trait_type to reject arrays of unknown bound of incomplete type, but I can't find a rationale for that, and now think it's wrong: the standard just requires that the type be "complete, cv void, or an array of unknown bound." 2022-04-13c++: local fn and generic lambda [PR97219]Jason Merrill1-3/+3
When instantiating the op() for a generic lambda, we can no longer do name lookup inside function scopes enclosing the lambda, so we need to remember the lookup result from processing the definition of the lambda. So the code in finish_call_expr to throw away the lookup result and instead look it up again at instantiation time needs to be adjusted. The approach I take is to only discard the result if the local extern comes from dependent scope; once the enclosing function template is instantiated and we're regenerating the lambda, then we can remember the result of lookup. We also need any default arguments to be instantiated at that point. 2022-04-13c++: NRV and ref-extended temps [PR101442]Jason Merrill1-1/+2
This issue goes back to r83221, where the cleanup for extended ref temps changed from being unconditional to being tied to the declaration they formed part of the initializer for. The named return value optimization changes the cleanup for the NRV variable to only run on the EH path; we don't want that change to affect temporary cleanups. 2022-04-11c++: Set loc on call even if result is discardedAlexandre Oliva1-1/+11
This patch fixes a divergence in line numbers in diagnostics and, presumably, debug information, between targets whose cdtors return this and those that don't. The problem was visible in g++.dg/cpp2a/constexpr-dtor3.C: while the dtor call in the cleanup for f4 was expected at the closing brace, on returning-this targets it came up at the assignment. The reason is convoluted: statements in cleanups have their location information removed, to avoid bumpy debugger behavior, and then set to the location of the end of the scope. The cleanup dtor call has its locus cleared in both kinds of targets, but the end-of-scope locus doesn't make it on returning-this targets. The calls are wrapped with a cast-to-void to discard the unused return value, and the existing logic only attached the locus to the conversion NOP_EXPR. The call thus remains locus-less. When constexpr logic copies and evals the body, it sets unset locations; while copying cleanups, the locus is taken from the cleanup expression, rather than matching the end-of-scope locus set by the parser. So we end up with different locations. This patch sets the locus of the call even when it's wrapped by a convert-to-void NOP_EXPR, so it won't diverge any more. for gcc/cp/ChangeLog * semantics.cc (set_cleanup_locs): Propagate locus to call wrapped in cast-to-void.
2022-03-18c++: using lookup within class defn [PR104476]Jason Merrill1-2/+3
The problem in both PR92918 and PR104476 is overloading of base member functions brought in by 'using' with direct member functions during parsing of the class body. To this point they've had a troublesome coexistence which was resolved by set_class_bindings when the class is complete, but we also need to handle lookup within the class body, such as in a trailing return type. The problem was that push_class_level_binding would either clobber the using-decl with the direct members or vice-versa. In older versions of GCC we only pushed dependent usings, and preferring the dependent using made sense, as it expresses a type-dependent overload set that we can't do anything useful with. But when we started keeping non-dependent usings around, push_class_level_binding in particular wasn't adjusted accordingly. This patch makes that adjustment, and pushes the functions imported by a non-dependent using immediately from finish_member_declaration. This made diagnosing redundant using-decls a bit awkward, since we no longer push the using-decl itself; I handle that by noticing when we try to add the same function again and searching TYPE_FIELDS for the previous using-decl. PR c++/92918 PR c++/104476 gcc/cp/ChangeLog: * class.cc (add_method): Avoid adding the same used function twice. (handle_using_decl): Don't add_method. 104752 points out that template<class T> concept C = true; auto y = C auto(1); is ill-formed as per [dcl.type.auto.deduct]: "For an explicit type conversion, T is the specified type, which shall be auto." which doesn't allow type-constraint auto. 2022-03-09c++: non-constant non-dependent decltype folding [PR104823]Patrick Palka1-0/+6
When processing a non-dependent decltype operand we want to instantiate it even if it's non-constant, since non-dependent decltype is always resolved ahead of time. But currently finish_decltype_type uses instantiate_non_dependent_expr, which instantiates only potentially constant expressions, and this causes us to miss diagnosing the narrowing conversion in S{id(v)} in the below testcase because we never instantiate this non-constant non-dependent decltype operand. In light of > On Mon, 7 Mar 2022, Jason Merrill wrote: >> On 3/7/22 14:41, Patrick Palka wrote: >>> instantiate_non_dependent_expr instantiates only potentially constant >>> expressions >> >> Hmm, that now strikes me as a problematic interface, as we don't know whether >> what we get back is template or non-template trees. this patch drops the potentially-constant check in i_n_d_e and turns its dependence check into a checking_assert, since most callers already check that the argument is non-dependent; thus i_n_d_e now instantiates even non-constant expressions and always returns non-templated trees. This patch also relaxes the dependence check in i_n_d_e to use the _uneval version (since that's what finish_decltype_type uses) and strengthens the dependence checks used by other callers accordingly. In cp_parser_parenthesized_expression_list_elt we were calling instantiate_non_dependent_expr (when parsing an attribute list) without first checking for non-dependence. We could fix this by guarding the call appropriately, but I noticed we also fold non-dependent attributes later from cp_check_const_attribute, so this earlier folding is at best redundant. And it currently causes us to reject constexpr-attribute4.C below due to the second folding seeing non-templated trees. Thus the right solution here seems to be to remove this unguarded call to i_n_d_e so that we end up instantiating non-dependent attributes only once. Finally, after calling i_n_d_e in finish_decltype_type we need to keep processing_template_decl cleared for sake of the later call to lvalue_kind, which handles templated and non-templated COND_EXPR differently. Otherwise we'd incorrectly reject the declaration of g in cpp0x/cond2.C with: error: 'g' declared as function returning a function PR c++/104823 gcc/cp/ChangeLog: * except.cc (build_noexcept_spec): Strengthen dependence check to instantiation_dependent_expression_p. * parser.cc (cp_parser_parenthesized_expression_list_elt): Remove fold_expr_p parameter, and don't call instantiate_non_dependent_expr. 2022-02-17c++: avoid duplicate deprecated warning [PR90451]Jason Merrill1-16/+6
We were getting the deprecated warning twice for the same call because we called mark_used first in finish_qualified_id_expr and then again in build_over_call. Let's not call it the first time; C++17 clarified that a function is used only when it is selected from an overload set, which happens later. Then I had to add a few more uses in places that don't do anything further with the expression (convert_to_void, finish_decltype_type), and places that use the expression more unusually (cp_build_addr_expr_1, convert_nontype_argument). The new mark_single_function is mostly so that I only have to put the comment in one place. 2022-02-17c++: double non-dep folding from finish_compound_literal [PR104565]Patrick Palka1-7/+3
In finish_compound_literal, we perform non-dependent expr folding before the call to check_narrowing ever since r9-5973. But ever since r10-7096, check_narrowing also performs non-dependent expr folding of its own. This double folding means tsubst will see non-templated trees during the second folding, which causes a spurious error in the below testcase. This patch removes the former folding operation; it seems obviated by the latter one. PR c++/104565 gcc/cp/ChangeLog: * semantics.cc (finish_compound_literal): Don't perform non-dependent expr folding before calling check_narrowing. gcc/testsuite/ChangeLog: * g++.dg/template/non-dependent22.C: New test.

We've been trying for a while to avoid TARGET_EXPRs in template code, but there were still a few that snuck through, and the one in this case broke the code that tried to handle it. Fixed by using IMPLICIT_CONV_EXPR, as we have done elsewhere. I also noticed that finish_compound_literal was assuming that all T{init} were for aggregate T, and we got a few more TARGET_EXPRs from that.
