2022-01-06c++: destroy retval on throwing cleanup in try [PR33799]Jason Merrill1-3/+0
My earlier attempt to fix this bug didn't handle the case where both the return and the throwing cleanup are within a try-block that catches and discards the exception. Fixed by adding the retval cleanup to any try-blocks as well as the function body. PR102191 pointed out that we also weren't handling templates properly, so I moved the call out of the parser. PR c++/33799 PR c++/102191 gcc/cp/ChangeLog: * except.c (maybe_splice_retval_cleanup): Check current_binding_level. * semantics.c (do_poplevel): Call it here. * parser.c (cp_parser_compound_statement): Not here. gcc/testsuite/ChangeLog: * g++.dg/eh/return1.C: Add temporary in try block case. * g++.dg/cpp2a/constexpr-dtor11.C: New test.
2022-01-03c-family: Have -Wformat-diag accept "decl-specifier" [PR103758]Marek Polacek1-1/+1
I'm tired of seeing cp/parser.c:15923:55: warning: misspelled term 'decl' in format; use 'declaration' instead [-Wformat-diag] cp/parser.c:15925:57: warning: misspelled term 'decl' in format; use 'declaration' instead [-Wformat-diag] every time I compile cp/parser.c, which happens...a lot. I'd like my compilation to be free of warnings, otherwise I'm going to miss some important ones. "decl-specifiers" is a C++ grammar term; it is not actual code, so should not be wrapped with %< %>. I hope we can accept it as an exception in check_tokens. It was surrounded by %< %> in cp_parser_decl_specifier_seq, so fix that. In passing, fix a misspelling in missspellings. PR c++/103758 gcc/c-family/ChangeLog: * c-format.c (check_tokens): Accept "decl-specifier*". gcc/cp/ChangeLog: * parser.c (cp_parser_decl_specifier_seq): Replace %<decl-specifier%> with %qD. gcc/testsuite/ChangeLog: * g++.dg/cpp0x/constexpr-condition.C: Adjust dg-error.

2021-12-17attribs: Fix wrong error with -Wno-attribute=A::b [PR103649]Marek Polacek1-2/+4
My patch to implement -Wno-attribute=A::b caused a bogus error when parsing [[foo::bar(1, 2)]]; when -Wno-attributes=foo::bar was specified on the command line, because when we create a fake foo::bar attribute and insert it into our attribute table, it is created with max_length == 0 which doesn't allow any args. That is wrong -- we know nothing about the attribute, so we shouldn't require any specific number of arguments. And since unknown attributes can be rather complex (see for example omp::{directive,sequence}), we must skip parsing their arguments. To that end, I'm using max_length with value -2. Also let's not warn about things like [[vendor::assume(true)]]; because they may have some meaning (this is reminiscent of C++ Portable Assumptions). PR c/103649 gcc/ChangeLog: * attribs.c (handle_ignored_attributes_option): Create the fake attribute with max_length == -2. 2021-12-16c++: delayed noexcept in member function template [PR99980]Marek Polacek1-1/+6
Some time ago I noticed that we don't properly delay parsing of noexcept for member function templates. This patch fixes that. It didn't work because even though we set CP_PARSER_FLAGS_DELAY_NOEXCEPT in cp_parser_member_declaration, member template declarations take a different path: we call cp_parser_template_declaration and return prior to setting the flag. 2021-12-16c++: two-stage name lookup for overloaded operators [PR51577]Patrick Palka1-19/+21
In order to properly implement two-stage name lookup for dependent operator expressions, we need to remember the result of unqualified lookup of the operator at template definition time, and reuse that result rather than performing another unqualified lookup at instantiation time. Ideally we could just store the lookup in the expression directly, but as pointed out in r9-6405 this isn't really possible since we use the standard tree codes to represent most dependent operator expressions. We could perhaps create a new tree code to represent dependent operator expressions, with enough operands to store the lookup along with everything else, but that'd require a lot of careful work to make sure we handle this new tree code properly across the frontend. But currently type-dependent operator (and call) expressions are given an empty TREE_TYPE, which dependent_type_p treats as dependent, so this field is effectively unused except to signal that the expression is type-dependent. It'd be convenient if we could store the lookup there while preserving the dependent-ness of the expression. To that end, this patch creates a new kind of type, called DEPENDENT_OPERATOR_TYPE, which we give to dependent operator expressions and into which we can store the result of operator lookup at template definition time (DEPENDENT_OPERATOR_TYPE_SAVED_LOOKUPS). Since this type is always dependent (by definition), and since the frontend doesn't seem to care much about the exact type of a type-dependent expression, using this type in place of a NULL_TREE type seems to "just work"; only dependent_type_p and WILDCARD_TYPE_P need to be adjusted to return true for this new type. The rest of the patch mostly consists of adding the necessary plumbing to pass DEPENDENT_OPERATOR_TYPE_SAVED_LOOKUPS to add_operator_candidates, adjusting all callers of build_x_* appropriately, and removing the now unnecessary push_operator_bindings mechanism. In passing, this patch simplifies finish_constraint_binary_op to avoid using build_x_binary_op for building a binary constraint-expr; we don't need to consider operator overloads here, as the &&/|| inside a constraint effectively always has the built-in meaning (since atomic constraints must have bool type). This patch also makes FOLD_EXPR_OP yield a tree_code instead of a raw INTEGER_CST. Finally, this patch adds the XFAILed test operator-8.C which is about broken two-stage name lookup for rewritten non-dependent operator expressions, an existing bug that's otherwise only documented in build_new_op. 2021-12-14c++: processing_template_decl vs template depth [PR103408]Patrick Palka1-17/+11
We use processing_template_decl in two slightly different ways: as a flag to signal that we're dealing with templated trees, and as a measure of the current syntactic template nesting depth. This overloaded meaning of p_t_d is conceptually confusing and leads to bugs that we end up working around in an ad-hoc fashion. This patch replaces all uses of processing_template_decl that care about its magnitude to instead look at the depth of current_template_parms via a new macro current_template_depth. This allows us to eliminate 3 workarounds in the concepts code: two about non-templated requires-expressions (in constraint.cc) and one about lambdas inside constraints (in cp_parser_requires_clause_expression etc). This also fixes the testcase in PR103408 about auto(x) used inside a non-templated requires-expression. The replacement was mostly mechanical, aside from two issues: * In synthesize_implicit_template_parm, when introducing a new template parameter list for an abbreviated function template, we need to add the new level of current_template_parms sooner, before calling process_template_parm, since this latter function now looks at current_template_depth to determine the level of the new parameter. * In instantiate_class_template_1 after substituting a template friend declaration, we currently increment processing_template_decl around the call to make_friend_class so that the friend_depth computation within this subroutine yields a nonzero value. We could just replace this with an equivalent manipulation of current_template_depth, but this patch instead rewrites the friend_depth calculation within make_friend_class to not depend on p_t_d / c_t_d at all when called from instantiate_class_template_1. 2021-12-09c++: Handle auto(x) in parameter-declaration-clause [PR103401]Marek Polacek1-8/+30
In C++23, auto(x) is valid, so decltype(auto(x)) should also be valid, so void f(decltype(auto(0))); should be just as void f(int); but currently, everytime we see 'auto' in a parameter-declaration-clause, we try to synthesize_implicit_template_parm for it, creating a new template parameter list. The code above actually has us calling s_i_t_p twice; once from cp_parser_decltype_expr -> cp_parser_postfix_expression which fails and then again from cp_parser_decltype_expr -> cp_parser_expression. So it looks like we have f<auto, auto> and we accept ill-formed code. This shows that we need to be more careful about synthesizing the implicit template parameter. [dcl.spec.auto.general] says that "A placeholder-type-specifier of the form type-constraintopt auto can be used as a decl-specifier of the decl-specifier-seq of a parameter-declaration of a function declaration or lambda-expression..." so this patch turns off auto_is_... after we've parsed the decl-specifier-seq. That doesn't quite cut it yet though, because we also need to handle an auto nested in the decl-specifier: void f(decltype(new auto{0})); therefore the cp_parser_decltype change. To accept "sizeof(auto{10})", the cp_parser_type_id_1 hunk only gives a hard error when we're not parsing tentatively. The cp_parser_parameter_declaration hunk broke lambda-generic-85713-2.C but I think the error we issue with this patch is in fact correct, and clang++ agrees. The r11-1913 change is OK: we need to make sure that we see '(auto)' after decltype to go ahead with 'decltype(auto)'. 2021-11-29c++: redundant explicit 'this' capture before C++20 [PR100493]Patrick Palka1-3/+5
As described in detail in the PR, in C++20 implicitly capturing 'this' via a '=' capture default is deprecated, and in C++17 adding an explicit 'this' capture alongside a '=' capture default is diagnosed as redundant (and is strictly speaking ill-formed). This means it's impossible to write, in a forward-compatible way, a C++17 lambda that has a '=' capture default and that also captures 'this' (implicitly or explicitly): [=] { this; } // #1 deprecated in C++20, OK in C++17 // GCC issues a -Wdeprecated warning in C++20 mode [=, this] { } // #2 ill-formed in C++17, OK in C++20 // GCC issues an unconditional warning in C++17 mode This patch resolves this dilemma by downgrading the warning for #2 into a -pedantic one. 2021-11-25c++: Implement C++23 P2128R6 - Multidimensional subscript operator [PR102611]Jakub Jelinek1-42/+105
The following patch implements the C++23 Multidimensional subscript operator P2128R6 paper. As C++20 and older only allow a single expression in between []s (albeit for C++20 with a deprecation warning if it is a comma expression) and even in C++23 and for the coming years I think the vast majority of subscript expressions will still have a single expression and even in C++23 it is quite special, as e.g. the builtin operator requires exactly one assignment expression, the patch attempts to optimize for that case and if possible not to slow down that common case (or use more memory for it). So, already during parsing it differentiates between that (uses a single index_exp tree in that case) and the new cases (zero or two+ expressions in the list), for which it sets index_exp to NULL_TREE and uses a releasing_vec instead similarly to how e.g. finish_call_expr uses it. In call.c it introduces new functions build_op_subscript{,_1} which are something in between build_new_op{,_1} and build_op_call{,_1}. The former requires fixed number of arguments (and the patch still uses it for the common case of subscript with exactly one index expression), the latter handles variable number of arguments but is too CALL_EXPR specific and handles various cases that are unnecessary for the subscript. Right now the subscript for 0 or 2+ expressions doesn't need to deal with builtin candidates and so is quite simple. As discussed in the paper, for backwards compatibility, if for 2+ index expressions build_op_subscript fails (called with tf_none) and the expressions together form a valid comma expression (again checked with tf_none), it is used that C++20-ish way with a pedwarn about it, but if even that fails, build_op_subscript is called again with standard complain flags to diagnose it in the new way. And similarly for the builtin case. The -Wcomma-subscript warning used to be enabled by default unless -Wno-deprecated. Since the C/C++98..20 behavior is no longer deprecated, but ill-formed or changed meaning, it is now for C++23 enabled by default regardless of -Wno-deprecated and controls the pedwarn (but not the errors emitted if something wasn't valid before and isn't valid in C++23 either). 2021-11-25 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> PR c++/102611 gcc/ * doc/invoke.texi (-Wcomma-subscript): Document that for -std=c++20 the option isn't enabled by default with -Wno-deprecated but for -std=c++23 it is. gcc/c-family/ * c-opts.c (c_common_post_options): Enable -Wcomma-subscript by default for C++23 regardless of warn_deprecated. * c-cppbuiltin.c (c_cpp_builtins): Predefine __cpp_multidimensional_subscript=202110L for C++23. gcc/cp/ * cp-tree.h (build_op_subscript): Implement P2128R6 - Multidimensional subscript operator. 2021-11-24c++: Fix missing NSDMI diagnostic in C++98 [PR103347]Marek Polacek1-0/+8
Here the problem is that we aren't detecting a NSDMI in C++98: struct A { void *x = NULL; }; because maybe_warn_cpp0x uses input_location and that happens to point to NULL which comes from a system header. Jakub suggested changing the location to the '=', thereby avoiding the system header problem. To that end, I've added a new location_t member into cp_declarator. This member is used when this declarator is part of an init-declarator. The rest of the changes is obvious. I've also taken the liberty of adding loc_or_input_loc, since I want to avoid checking for UNKNOWN_LOCATION. 2021-11-22openacc: Fix up C++ #pragma acc routine handling [PR101731]Jakub Jelinek1-15/+11
The following testcase ICEs because two function declarations are nested in each other and the acc routine handling code isn't prepared to put the pragma on both. The fix is similar to what #pragma omp declare {simd, variant} does, in particular set the fndecl_seen flag already in cp_parser_late_parsing* when we encounter it rather than only after we finalize it. In cp_finalize_oacc_routine I had to move the fndecl_seen diagnostics to non-FUNCTION_DECL block, because for FUNCTION_DECLs the flag is already known to be set from cp_parser_late_parsing_oacc_routine, but can't be removed altogether, because that regresses quality of 2 goacc/routine-5.c diagnostics - we drop "a single " from the '#pragma acc routine' not immediately followed by a single function declaration or definition diagnostic say on #pragma acc routine int foo (), b; if we drop it altogether. 2021-11-22 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> PR c++/101731 * parser.c (cp_parser_late_parsing_oacc_routine): Set parser->oacc_routine->fndecl_seen here, rather than ... 2021-11-15openmp: Add support for thread_limit clause on targetJakub Jelinek1-0/+1
OpenMP 5.1 says that thread_limit clause can also appear on target, and similarly to teams should affect the thread-limit-var ICV. On combined target teams, the clause goes to both. We actually passed thread_limit internally on target already before, but only used it for gcn/ptx offloading to hint how many threads should be created and for ptx didn't set thread_limit_var in that case. Similarly for host fallback. Also, I found that we weren't copying the args array that contains encoded thread_limit and num_teams clause for target (etc.) for async target. 2021-11-15 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> gcc/ * gimplify.c (optimize_target_teams): Only add OMP_CLAUSE_THREAD_LIMIT to OMP_TARGET_CLAUSES if it isn't there already. gcc/c-family/ * c-omp.c (c_omp_split_clauses) <case OMP_CLAUSE_THREAD_LIMIT>: Duplicate to both OMP_TARGET and OMP_TEAMS. gcc/c/ * c-parser.c (OMP_TARGET_CLAUSE_MASK): Add PRAGMA_OMP_CLAUSE_THREAD_LIMIT. gcc/cp/ * parser.c (OMP_TARGET_CLAUSE_MASK): Add PRAGMA_OMP_CLAUSE_THREAD_LIMIT. libgomp/ * task.c (gomp_create_target_task): Copy args array as well. * target.c (gomp_target_fallback): Add args argument. 2021-11-11openmp: Add support for 2 argument num_teams clauseJakub Jelinek1-31/+47
In OpenMP 5.1, num_teams clause can accept either one expression as before, but it in that case changed meaning, rather than create <= expression teams it is now create == expression teams. Or it accepts two expressions separated by :, with the meaning that the first is low bound and second upper bound on how many teams should be created. The other ways to set number of teams are upper bounds with lower bound of 1. The following patch does parsing of this for C/C++. For host teams, we actually don't need to do anything further right now, we always create (pretend to create) exactly the requested number of teams, so we can just evaluate and throw away the lower bound for now. For teams nested in target, we don't guarantee that though and further work will be needed. In particular, omplower now turns the teams part of: struct S { S (); S (const S &); ~S (); int s; }; void bar (S &, S &); int baz (); _Pragma ("omp declare target to (baz)"); void foo (void) { S a, b; #pragma omp target private (a) map (b) { #pragma omp teams firstprivate (b) num_teams (baz ()) { bar (a, b); } } } into: retval.0 = baz (); retval.1 = retval.0; { unsigned int retval.3; struct S * D.2549; struct S b; retval.3 = (unsigned int) retval.1; D.2549 = .omp_data_i->b; S::S (&b, D.2549); #pragma omp teams num_teams(retval.1) firstprivate(b) shared(a) __builtin_GOMP_teams (retval.3, 0); { bar (&a, &b); } S::~S (&b); #pragma omp return(nowait) } IMHO we want a new API, say GOMP_teams3 which will take 3 arguments instead of 2 (the lower and upper bounds from num_teams and thread_limit) and will return a bool whether it should do the teams body or not. And, we should add right before outermost {} above while (__builtin_GOMP_teams3 ((unsigned) retval.1, (unsigned) retval.1, 0)) and remove the __builtin_GOMP_teams call. The current function performs exit equivalent (at least on NVPTX) which seems bad because that means the destructors of e.g. private variables on target aren't invoked, and at the current placement neither destructors of the already constructed privatized variables in teams. I'll do this next on the compiler side, but I'm afraid I'll need help with the nvptx and amdgcn implementations. E.g. for nvptx, we won't be able to use %ctaid.x . I think ideal would be to use a .shared integer variable for the omp_get_team_num value, but I don't have any experience with that, are .shared variables zero initialized by default, or do they have random value at start? PTX docs say they aren't initializable. 2021-11-11 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> gcc/ * tree.h (OMP_CLAUSE_NUM_TEAMS_EXPR): Rename to ... (OMP_CLAUSE_NUM_TEAMS_UPPER_EXPR): ... this. 2021-10-28c++: CTAD within template argument [PR102933]Patrick Palka1-1/+1
Here when checking for erroneous occurrences of 'auto' inside a template argument (which is allowed by the concepts TS for class templates), extract_autos_r picks up the CTAD placeholder for X{T{0}} which causes check_auto_in_tmpl_args to reject this valid template argument. This patch fixes this by making extract_autos_r ignore CTAD placeholders. However, it seems we don't need to call check_auto_in_tmpl_args at all outside of the concepts TS since using 'auto' as a type-id is otherwise rejected more generally at parse time. So this patch makes the function just exit early if !flag_concepts_ts. Similarly, I think the concepts code paths in do_auto_deduction and type_uses_auto are only necessary for the concepts TS, so this patch also restricts these code paths accordingly. 2021-10-20c++: tweak parsing of invalid typesJason Merrill1-2/+6
cp_parser_parse_and_diagnose_invalid_type_name is called during declaration parsing, so it should pass 'true' for the declarator_p argument. But that caused a diagnostic regression on template/pr84789.C due to undesired lookup in dependent scopes. To fix that, cp_parser_nested_name_specifier_opt needs to respect the value of check_dependency_p. This patch avoids a regression from Andrew Sharp's WIP patch for PR70417. It would make more sense to test only check_dependency_p, not declarator_p, but removing the declarator_p condition turns out to reveal complicated interactions of cp_parser_constructor_declarator_p and caching of nested-name-specifiers and template-ids that I've already spent too much time trying to sort out. gcc/cp/ChangeLog: * parser.c (cp_parser_parse_and_diagnose_invalid_type_name): Pass true for declarator_p. 2021-10-20c++: Fix up push_local_extern_decl_alias error recovery [PR102642]Jakub Jelinek1-2/+4
My recent push_local_extern_decl_alias change broke error-recovery, do_pushdecl can return error_mark_node and set_decl_tls_model can't be called on that. There are other code paths that store error_mark_node into DECL_LOCAL_DECL_ALIAS, with the intent to differentiate the cases where we haven't yet tried to push it into the namespace scope (NULL) and one where we have tried it but it failed (error_mark_node), but looking around, there are other spots where we call functions or do processing which doesn't tolerate error_mark_node. So, the first hunk with the testcase fixes the testcase, the others fix what I've spotted and the fix was easy to figure out (there are I think 3 other spots mainly for function multiversioning). 2021-10-20 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> PR c++/102642 * name-lookup.c (push_local_extern_decl_alias): Don't call set_decl_tls_model on error_mark_node. * decl.c (make_rtl_for_nonlocal_decl): Don't call set_user_assembler_name on error_mark_node. * parser.c (cp_parser_oacc_declare): Ignore DECL_LOCAL_DECL_ALIAS if it is error_mark_node. 2021-10-08openmp: Fix up declare target handling for vars with DECL_LOCAL_DECL_ALIAS ↵Jakub Jelinek1-59/+73

2021-10-01openmp: Differentiate between order(concurrent) and ↵Jakub Jelinek1-1/+5
order(reproducible:concurrent) While OpenMP 5.1 implies order(concurrent) is the same thing as order(reproducible:concurrent), this is going to change in OpenMP 5.2, where essentially order(concurrent) means nothing is stated on whether it is reproducible or unconstrained (and is determined by other means, e.g. for/do with schedule static or runtime with static being selected is implicitly reproducible, distribute with dist_schedule static is implicitly reproducible, loop is implicitly reproducible) and when the modifier is specified explicitly, it overrides the implicit behavior either way. And, when order(reproducible:concurrent) is used with e.g. schedule(dynamic) or some other schedule that is by definition not reproducible, it is implementation's duty to ensure it is reproducible, either by remembering how it scheduled some loop and then replaying the same schedule when seeing loops with the same directive/schedule/number of iterations, or by overriding the schedule to some reproducible one. This patch doesn't implement the 5.2 wording just yet, but in the FEs differentiates between the 3 states - no explicit modifier, explicit reproducible or explicit unconstrainted, so that the middle-end can easily switch any time. Instead it follows the 5.1 wording where both order(concurrent) (implicit or explicit) or order(reproducible:concurrent) imply reproducibility. And, it implements the easier method, when for/do should be reproducible, it just chooses static schedule. order(concurrent) implies no OpenMP APIs in the loop body nor threadprivate vars, so the exact scheduling isn't (easily at least) observable. 2021-10-01 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> gcc/ * tree.h (OMP_CLAUSE_ORDER_REPRODUCIBLE): Define. * tree-pretty-print.c (dump_omp_clause) <case OMP_CLAUSE_ORDER>: Print reproducible: for OMP_CLAUSE_ORDER_REPRODUCIBLE. * omp-general.c (omp_extract_for_data): If OMP_CLAUSE_ORDER is seen without OMP_CLAUSE_ORDER_UNCONSTRAINED, overwrite sched_kind to OMP_CLAUSE_SCHEDULE_STATIC. gcc/c-family/ * c-omp.c (c_omp_split_clauses): Also copy OMP_CLAUSE_ORDER_REPRODUCIBLE. gcc/c/ * c-parser.c (c_parser_omp_clause_order): Set OMP_CLAUSE_ORDER_REPRODUCIBLE for explicit reproducible: modifier. gcc/cp/ * parser.c (cp_parser_omp_clause_order): Set OMP_CLAUSE_ORDER_REPRODUCIBLE for explicit reproducible: modifier. gcc/fortran/ * gfortran.h (gfc_omp_clauses): Add order_reproducible bitfield. * dump-parse-tree.c (show_omp_clauses): Print REPRODUCIBLE: for it. * openmp.c (gfc_match_omp_clauses): Set order_reproducible for explicit reproducible: modifier. * trans-openmp.c (gfc_trans_omp_clauses): Set OMP_CLAUSE_ORDER_REPRODUCIBLE for order_reproducible. 2021-09-30c++: argument order in a variadic type trait intrinsicPatrick Palka1-0/+1
When parsing a variadic type trait intrinsic, we build up the list of trailing arguments in reverse, but we neglect to reverse the list to the true order afterwards. This causes us to confuse the meaning of e.g. __is_xible(x, y, z) vs __is_xible(x, z, y). 2021-09-18openmp: Handle unconstrained and reproducible modifiers on order(concurrent)Jakub Jelinek1-3/+29
This patch adds handling for unconstrained and reproducible modifiers on order(concurrent) clause. For all static schedules (including auto and no schedule or dist_schedule clauses) I believe what we implement is reproducible, so the patch doesn't do much beyond recognizing those. Note, there is an OpenMP/spec issue that needs resolution on what should happen with the dynamic schedules (whether it should be an error to mix such clauses, or silently make it non-reproducible, and in which exact cases), so it might need some follow-up. Besides that, this patch allows order(concurrent) clause on the distribute construct which is something also added in OpenMP 5.1, and finally check the newly added restriction that at most one order clause can appear on a construct. The allowing of order clause on distribute has a side-effect that order(concurrent) copyin(thrpriv) is no longer allowed on combined/composite constructs with distribute parallel for{, simd} in it, previously the order applied only to for/simd and so a threadprivate var could be seen in the construct, but now it also applies to distribute and so on the parallel we shouldn't refer to a threadprivate var. 2021-09-18 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com> gcc/ * tree.h (OMP_CLAUSE_ORDER_UNCONSTRAINED): Define. * tree-pretty-print.c (dump_omp_clause): Print unconstrained: for OMP_CLAUSE_ORDER_UNCONSTRAINED. gcc/c-family/ * c-omp.c (c_omp_split_clauses): Split order clause also to distribute construct. 2021-09-17c++: improve lookup of member-qualified namesJason Merrill1-16/+53
I've been working on the resolution of CWG1835 by P1787, which among many other things clarified that a name after -> or . is looked up first in the class of the object expression even if it's dependent. This patch does not make that change; this is a smaller change extracted from that work in progress to make the lookup in the object type work better in cases where unqualified lookup doesn't find anything. Basically, if we see "t.foo::" we know that looking up foo in t needs to find a type, so we build an implicit TYPENAME_TYPE for it. This also implements the change from P1787 to assume that a name followed by < in a type-only context names a template, since the less-than operator can't appear in a type context. This makes some of the lines in dtor11.C work. I introduce the predicate 'dependentish_scope_p' for the case where the current instantiation has dependent bases, so even though we can perform name lookup, we can't conclude that a lookup failure is conclusive. gcc/cp/ChangeLog: * cp-tree.h (dependentish_scope_p): Declare. * pt.c (dependentish_scope_p): New. * parser.c (cp_parser_lookup_name): Return a TYPENAME_TYPE for lookup of a type in a dependent object. While looking at PR96184 I noticed that we were recognizing the situation of parsing a function declarator based on current_binding_level, and that we ought to make that a predicate function. 2021-09-15c++: correct object scope handlingJason Merrill1-1/+3
The way cp_parser_lookup_name handles object scope (i.e. the scope on the RHS of a . or -> expression) is a bit subtle: before the lookup it's in parser->context->object type, and after the lookup it's in parser->object_scope. But a couple of places that elide lookups were failing to do the same transform. While working on a larger change to destructor lookup I noticed that this rule talks about declarators, but we weren't limiting the error to the case where we're parsing a declarator.
