The r12-5403 fix apparently doesn't handle the case where the inner lambda explicitly rather than implicitly captures the capture proxy from the outer lambda, which causes us to reject the first example in the testcase below. This is because compared to an implicit capture, the effective initializer for an explicit capture is wrapped in a location wrapper (pointing to within the capture list), and this wrapper foils the is_capture_proxy check added in r12-5403. The simplest fix appears to be to strip location wrappers accordingly before checking is_capture_proxy. And to help prevent against this kind of bug, this patch also makes is_capture_proxy assert it doesn't see a location wrapper. Here when determining the type of the FIELD_DECL for the by-value capture of 'i' in the inner lambda, we incorrectly give it the type const int instead of int since the effective initializer is the proxy for the outer capture, and this proxy is const since the outer lambda is non-mutable. This patch fixes this by making lambda_capture_field_type handle by-value capturing of capture proxies specially, namely we instead consider the type of their FIELD_DECL which unlike the proxy has the true cv-quals of the captured entity. 2021-04-08c++: Don't substitute into constraints on lambdas [PR99874]Patrick Palka1-0/+2
We currently substitute through a lambda's constraints whenever we regenerate it via tsubst_lambda_expr. This is the wrong approach because it can lead to hard errors due to constraints being evaluated out of order (as in the testcase concepts-lambda17.C below), and because it doesn't mesh well with the recently added REQUIRES_EXPR_EXTRA_ARGS mechanism for delaying substitution into requires-expressions, which is the cause of this PR. But in order to avoid substituting through a lambda's constraints during regeneration, we need to be able to get at all in-scope template parameters and corresponding template arguments during constraint checking of a lambda's op(). And this information is not easily available when we need it, it seems. To that end, the approach that this patch takes is to add two new fields to LAMBDA_EXPR (and remove one): LAMBDA_EXPR_REGENERATED_FROM (replacing LAMBDA_EXPR_INSTANTIATED), and LAMBDA_EXPR_REGENERATING_TARGS. The former allows us to obtain the complete set of template parameters that are in-scope for a lambda's op(), and the latter gives us all outer template arguments that were used to regenerate the lambda (analogous to the TI_TEMPLATE and TI_ARGS of a TEMPLATE_INFO, respectively). LAMBDA_EXPR_REGENERATING_TARGS is not strictly necessary -- in an earlier prototype, I walked LAMBDA_EXPR_EXTRA_SCOPE to build up this set of outer template arguments on demand, but it seems cleaner to do it this way. (We'd need to walk LAMBDA_EXPR_EXTRA_SCOPE and not DECL/TYPE_CONTEXT because the latter skips over variable template scopes.) The problem is that the binding doesn't have a FUNCTION_DECL with LAMBDA_FUNCTION_P for the operator(), but an OVERLOAD with TEMPLATE_DECL for such FUNCTION_DECL. This'll make my later patches changing their types less intrusive. 2020-04-17c++: Non-type-dependent variadic lambda init-capture [PR94483]Patrick Palka1-1/+4
In this PR, we're ICEing on a use of an 'int... a' template parameter pack as part of the variadic lambda init-capture [...z=a]. The unexpected thing about this variadic init-capture is that it is not type-dependent, and so the call to do_auto_deduction from lambda_capture_field_type actually resolves its type to 'int' instead of exiting early like it does for a type-dependent variadic initializer. This later confuses add_capture which, according to one of its comments, assumes that 'type' is always 'auto' for a variadic init-capture. Attached is a patch that adds parsing of the optional requires-clause in a lambda-expression and lambda-declarator. Additionally, shorthand constraints from the template-parameter-list are now actually applied and constrain the synthesized operator(). Previously we were not parsing the requires clauses at all and not saving the shorthand constraints in the place expected by grokfndecl. The trailing requires-clause is now also used to suppress synthesis of the conversion to function pointer for non-capturing non-generic lambdas as per expr.prim.lambda.closure/7. This includes a fix to template_class_depth. Previously it was computing the wrong depth for lambdas in the initializer of a static member of a class template, exhibited by the concepts-lambda4 test which currently fails on trunk. Previously, with init-capture the type of the closure field was a DECLTYPE_TYPE of the initializer. But since each time we tsubst a lambda we get a different lambda, that meant that if the initializer is a lambda, we'd end up with different closure types in the field and initializer after substitution (PR 87322). We dealt with this by remembering the lambda instantiation within each pack expansion element, using local_specialization_stack to separate the elements. But that broke this testcase, because it lost lambda capture proxies that also use local_specializations. So, this patch removes the local_specializations changes from that patch and fixes 87322 differently, by giving init-capture fields 'auto' type and doing deduction later. There's a bit of a kludge to get the right number of fields by pretending that 'auto...' uses the parameter packs from the initializer, but it does the trick. * cp-tree.h (DECLTYPE_FOR_INIT_CAPTURE): Remove. * lambda.c (add_capture): Copy parameter packs from init. Here, the problem was that extract_local_specs wasn't seeing that we use 'self' inside the lambda in the else of the inner constexpr if, because we don't walk into lambda bodies and we didn't capture it in the lambda because 'self' is still dependent. Marek recently changed process_outer_var_ref to do more implicit capture in templates; this example shows that we should always capture non-packs, so that we can continue to not walk into lambda bodies. We do walk into lambda bodies for pack expansions, so we can delay deciding whether we're capturing a single element or the entire pack. Immediately capturing a VLA means we need to create a dependent VLA capture type, and not in the context of the lambda op(), since trying to look up the instantiation of the op() while we're substituting into the capture list would crash. Here, we capture nf, then the use of the proxy decays to a constant during semantic processing of +nf. Since we saw some decay from proxy to constant, we walk through the lambda body to see which proxies are still used, but we weren't walking into subtrees of DECL_EXPR at all, so we missed the use of &nf in the initializer of y, and removed the capture.
