This patch changes the build machinery in order to disable the build
of GCOV (both compiler and libgcc) in bpf-*-* targets. The reason for
this change is that BPF is (currently) too restricted in order to
support the coverage instrumentalization.
Tested in bpf-unknown-none and x86_64-linux-gnu targets.

On AIX, stat will store inodes in 32bit even when using LARGE_FILES.
If the inode is larger, it will return -1 in st_ino.
Thus, in incpath.c when comparing include directories, if several
of them have 64bit inodes, they will be considered as duplicated.

The current GCC branch will become 12.1.0, which will be the stable
version of GCC when the next macOS version is released. There are some
places in GCC that don’t handle darwin22 as a version, so we need to
future-proof it (gcc/config.gcc and gcc/config/darwin-driver.c). We
align that code with what Apple clang does, i.e. accept all potential
major macOS versions until 99.
This patch also homogenises the handling of darwin version numbers,
where the majority of places use darwin2*, but some used darwin2[0-9]*.
Since there never was a darwin2.x version, the two are equivalent, and
we prefer the simpler darwin2*

The D front-end is now itself written in D, in order to build GDC, you
will need a working GDC compiler (GCC version 9.1 or later).
GCC changes:
- Add support for bootstrapping the D front-end.
These add the required components in order to have a D front-end written
in D itself. Because the compiler front-end only depends on the core
runtime modules, only libdruntime is built for the bootstrap stages.
D front-end changes:
- Import dmd v2.098.0-beta.1.
Druntime changes:
- Import druntime v2.098.0-beta.1.
Phobos changes:
- Import phobos v2.098.0-beta.1.
The jump from v2.076.1 to v2.098.0 covers nearly 4 years worth of
development on the D programming language and run-time libraries.
ChangeLog:

libatomic.

This commit allows users to specify a path to their "etags"
executable for use when doing "make tags".
I based this patch off of this one from upstream automake:
https://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/automake.git/commit/m4?id=d2ccbd7eb38d6a4277d6f42b994eb5a29b1edf29
This means that I just supplied variables that the user can override
for the tags programs, rather than having the configure scripts
actually check for them. I handle etags and ctags separately because
the intl subdirectory has separate targets for them. This commit
only affects the subdirectories that use handwritten Makefiles; the
ones that use automake will have to wait until we update the version
of automake used to be 1.16.4 or newer before they'll be fixed.

During cross compiling, CPP is being set to the target compiler even for
build targets. As an example, when building a cross compiler targetting
mingw, the config.log for libiberty in
build.x86_64-pokysdk-mingw32.i586-poky-linux/build-x86_64-linux/libiberty/config.log
shows:
configure:3786: checking how to run the C preprocessor

configure:3876: x86_64-pokysdk-mingw32-gcc -E --sysroot=[sysroot]/x86_64-nativesdk-mingw32-pokysdk-mingw32 conftest.c
configure:3876: $? = 0
This is libiberty being built for the build environment, not the target one
(i.e. in build-x86_64-linux). As such it should be using the build environment's
gcc and not the target one. In the mingw case the system headers are quite
different leading to build failures related to not being able to include a
process.h file for pem-unix.c.
Further analysis shows the same issue occuring for CPPFLAGS too.
Fix this by adding support for CPP_FOR_BUILD and CPPFLAGS_FOR_BUILD which
for example, avoids mixing the mingw headers for host binaries on linux
systems.

When I originally added the new extended architecture features support
to GCC, the assembler was unable to parse the new feature lists on the
command-line and would throw an error. This has now been fixed in GAS
and the behaviour is the same as GCC.
So this patch adds a configure-time test for the assembler in use to
detect that it is recent enough to support this behaviour and then
enables passing the architecture extensions to the assembler when this
is the case.
Although the assembly output generated by GCC does not rely on this,
this should ease some issues when using GCC as a driver for compiling
source written directly in assembly language when the programmer was
expecting the appropriate options to be passed on the command line.

architecture extensions.

The executables for GCC's c-family compilers must be built with no-PIE
because they use PCH and the current model for this requires that the
exe is always lauched at the same address. Since the other language
compilers share code with the c-family this constraint is also applied
to them.
However, the executables that run on $build (generators, and parsers
for md and def files) need not have any such constraint they do not
consume PCH files.
This change simplifies the configuration and Makefile content by
removing the code enforcing no-PIE on these exes. This also fixes a
bootstrap issue with some Darwin versions and clang as the bootstrap
compiler, where -no-PIE causes the correct relocation model to be
switched off leading to invalid user-space code.

Special-casing checks for in-tree gas features is unnecessary since
r100007 which made configure-gcc depend on all-gas, and thus making
alternate code path in gcc_GAS_CHECK_FEATURE for in-tree gas
redundant.
Along the way this fixes PR 91602, which is caused by incorrect guess
of leb128 support presence in RISC-V.

I was wondering why the (now fixed) c-c++-common/attr-retain-[78].c
failures were showing up in the native results for aarch64-linux-gnu
but not in the posted cross results. It turns out that .init/
.fini_array support is disabled by default for cross builds,
which in turn stops those tests from running.
The test for .init/fini_array support has two parts: one that builds
something with the assembler and linker, and another that compiles
C code and uses preprocessor macros to test the glibc version.
The first test would work with build=host but the second is only
safe for build=target.
However, AArch64 postdates glibc and binutils support for
.init/fini_array by some distance, so it's safe to hard-code the
result to "yes" for cross compilers.
This fixes the only material difference in auto-host.h between
a native and a cross build.

[PR98860]
As mentioned in the PR, before the
https://sourceware.org/git/?p=binutils-gdb.git;a=commit;h=ba6eb62ff0ea9843a018cfd7cd06777bd66ae0a0
fix from March 1st, PECOFF ld.bfd didn't know about .debug_loclists,
.debug_rnglists and other debug sections new in DWARF 5. Unfortunately,
unlike for ELF linkers, that means the sections were placed in wrong
ordering with wrong VMA/LMA, so the resulting executables are apparently
unusable.
As that is pretty new change, newer than 2.35.2 or 2.36 binutils releases,
the following patch adds a workaround that turns -gdwarf-4 by default
instead of -gdwarf-5 if a broken linker is found at configure time.
Users can still explicitly play with -gdwarf-5 and either use a non-broken
linker or use custom linker scripts for the broken one, but at least
by default it should work.

binutils since https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=25612
changes from March last year until the
https://sourceware.org/pipermail/binutils/2020-August/112684.html
fix in early August emits incorrect .debug_info when assembling files
with --gdwarf-5. Instead of emitting proper DWARF 5 .debug_info header,
it emits DWARF 4 .debug_info header with 5 as the dwarf version instead of
4. This results e.g. in libgcc.a (morestack.o) having garbage in its
.debug_info sections and e.g. libbacktrace during pretty much all libgo
tests fails miserably.
The following patch adds a workaround for that, don't set
HAVE_AS_GDWARF_5_DEBUG_FLAG if readelf can't read the .debug_info back.
Built tested on x86_64-linux against both binutils 2.35 (buggy ones) and
latest binutils trunk, the former with the patch now has DWARF 3
.debug_line and DWARF 2 .debug_info in morestack.o, while the latter
as before correct DWARF 5 .debug_line and .debug_info.

As reported by Matthias, --enable-link-serialization=1 can currently start
two concurrent links first (e.g. gnat1 and cc1).
The problem is that make var = value values seem to work differently between
dependencies and actual rules (where it was tested).
As the language make fragments can be in different order, we can have:
ada.prev = ... magic that will become $(c.serial) under --enable-link-serialization=1
gnat1$(exe): ..... $(ada.prev)
...
c.serial = cc1$(exe)
and while if I add echo $(ada.prev) in the gnat1 rule's command, it prints
cc1, the dependencies are actually evaluated during reading of the goal or
when.
The configure creates (and puts into Makefile) some serialization order of
the languages and in that order c always comes first, and the rest is
actually sorted the way the all_lang_makefrags are already sorted,
so just by forcing c/Make-lang.in first we achieve that X.serial variable
is always defined before some other Y.prev will use it in its goal
dependencies.

With the introduction of C++20 modules and libcody, cc1plus and
cc1objplus gained a dependency on the socket functions. Before those
were merged into libc in Solaris 11.4, one needed to link with -lsocket -lnsl
on Solaris, so that merge broke the Solaris 11.3 build.
While we already have 4 different checks for those libraries in the
tree, I decided to import autoconf-archive's AX_LIB_SOCKET_NSL macro
instead. At the same time, the patch only links libcody and the
networking libs where needed (cc1plus, cc1objplus).
Bootstrapped without regressions on i386-pc-solaris2.11 (Solaris 11.3

This option allows the user to specifiy alternate C++ runtime libraries,
for example when a platform uses libc++ as the installed C++ runtime.
We introduce the command line option: -stdlib= which is the user-facing
mechanism to select the C++ runtime to be used when compiling and linking
code. This is the same option spelling as that used by clang to allow the
use of libstdc++.
The availability (and thus function) of the option are a configure-time
choice using the configuration control:
--with-gxx-libcxx-include-dir=
Specification of the path for the libc++ headers, enables the -stdlib=
option (using the path as given), default values are set when the path
is unconfigured.
If --with-gxx-libcxx-include-dir is given together with --with-sysroot=,
then we test to see if the include path starts with the sysroot and, if so,
record the sysroot-relative component as the local path. At runtime, we
prepend the sysroot that is actually active.
At link time, we use the C++ runtime in force and (if that is libc++) also
append the libc++abi ABI library. As for other cases, if a target sets the
name pointer for the ABI library to NULL the G++ driver will omit it from
the link line.
gcc/ChangeLog:
* configure.ac: Add gxx-libcxx-include-dir handled
in the same way as the regular cxx header directory.
* Makefile.in: Regenerated.
* config.in: Likewise.
* configure: Likewise.
* cppdefault.c: Pick up libc++ headers if the option
is enabled.
* cppdefault.h (struct default_include): Amend comments
to reflect the extended use of the cplusplus field.
* incpath.c (add_standard_paths): Allow for multiple
c++ header include path variants.
* doc/invoke.texi: Document the -stdlib= option.
gcc/c-family/ChangeLog:
* c.opt: Add -stdlib= option and enumerations for
libstdc++ and libc++.
gcc/cp/ChangeLog:
* g++spec.c (LIBCXX, LIBCXX_PROFILE, LIBCXX_STATIC): New.
(LIBCXXABI, LIBCXXABI_PROFILE, LIBCXXABI_STATIC): New.
(enum stdcxxlib_kind): New.
(lang_specific_driver): Allow selection amongst multiple
c++ runtime libraries.

When cross-compiling GCC with target libc headers available and
configure option --enable-s390-excess-float-precision has been omitted,
identify whether they clamp float_t to double or respect
__FLT_EVAL_METHOD__ via a compile test that coerces the build-system
compiler to use the target headers. Then derive the setting from that.
gcc/ChangeLog:
2020-12-16 Marius Hillenbrand <mhillen@linux.ibm.com>
* configure.ac: Change --enable-s390-excess-float-precision
default behavior for cross compiles with target headers.
* configure: Regenerate.
* doc/install.texi: Adjust documentation.
