On platforms that support multiarch, such as Debian,
the filesystem hierarchy doesn't fellow the old Irix style:
lib & lib/<multiarch> for native
lib64 for N64 on N32/O32 systems
lib32 for N32 on N64/O32 systems
libo32 for O32 on N64/N32 systems
Thus we cannot
#define STANDARD_STARTFILE_PREFIX_1
#define STANDARD_STARTFILE_PREFIX_2
on N32 or N64 systems, else collect2 won't look for libraries
on /lib/<multiarch>.

If we cannot get info from options and cpuinfo, we try to get from:
1. getauxval(AT_BASE_PLATFORM), introduced since Linux 5.7
2. _MIPS_ARCH from host compiler.
mnan=2008 option is also used if __mips_nan2008__ is used.
This can fix the wrong loader usage on r5/r6 platform with
-march=native.

This moves all D front-end specific target definitions out of the main
target headers, and into its own header that is included by tm_d.h
instead of pulling in the same headers as tm_p.h.
This fixes the build on target configurations that pull in the default D
language target hooks, and subsequently trigger an error because the
definition of PREFERRED_DEBUGGING_TYPE is behind tm.h, the one header
that is avoided from being included in default-d.cc.

Using the system objcopy is wrong when other configure checks have
probed a different set of binutils (I've noticed the problem on a system
where the base objcopy can't deal with compressed debug sections).
Arrange for the matching one to be picked up, first and foremost if an
"in tree" one is available, by mirroring respective logic already
present for nm.

This patch changes the build machinery in order to disable the build
of GCOV (both compiler and libgcc) in bpf-*-* targets. The reason for

On AIX, stat will store inodes in 32bit even when using LARGE_FILES.
If the inode is larger, it will return -1 in st_ino.
Thus, in incpath.c when comparing include directories, if several
of them have 64bit inodes, they will be considered as duplicated.

The current GCC branch will become 12.1.0, which will be the stable
version of GCC when the next macOS version is released. There are some
places in GCC that don’t handle darwin22 as a version, so we need to
future-proof it (gcc/config.gcc and gcc/config/darwin-driver.c). We
align that code with what Apple clang does, i.e. accept all potential
major macOS versions until 99.
This patch also homogenises the handling of darwin version numbers,
where the majority of places use darwin2*, but some used darwin2[0-9]*.
Since there never was a darwin2.x version, the two are equivalent, and
we prefer the simpler darwin2*

The D front-end is now itself written in D, in order to build GDC, you
will need a working GDC compiler (GCC version 9.1 or later).

This commit allows users to specify a path to their "etags"
executable for use when doing "make tags".
I based this patch off of this one from upstream automake:

This means that I just supplied variables that the user can override
for the tags programs, rather than having the configure scripts
actually check for them. I handle etags and ctags separately because
the intl subdirectory has separate targets for them. This commit
only affects the subdirectories that use handwritten Makefiles; the
ones that use automake will have to wait until we update the version
of automake used to be 1.16.4 or newer before they'll be fixed.

Newer versions of ld64 allow specifiying the OS target (e.g.
macos or ios) the version and the SDK version all in a single
command. This checks the availability of the command for the
current toolchain.

During cross compiling, CPP is being set to the target compiler even for
build targets. As an example, when building a cross compiler targetting
mingw, the config.log for libiberty in
build.x86_64-pokysdk-mingw32.i586-poky-linux/build-x86_64-linux/libiberty/config.log
shows:

This is libiberty being built for the build environment, not the target one
(i.e. in build-x86_64-linux). As such it should be using the build environment's
gcc and not the target one. In the mingw case the system headers are quite
different leading to build failures related to not being able to include a
process.h file for pem-unix.c.
Further analysis shows the same issue occuring for CPPFLAGS too.
Fix this by adding support for CPP_FOR_BUILD and CPPFLAGS_FOR_BUILD which
for example, avoids mixing the mingw headers for host binaries on linux
systems.

The LLVM devs have changed the assembler architecture attribute names on both
CLI and in the ".amdgcn_target" directive, and changed the attribute syntax
inside the directive, without keeping any backwards compatibility. :-(
This patch improves our configure tests to detect what dialect to use, what
attributes are valid, and adjusts the specs to match.

When I originally added the new extended architecture features support
to GCC, the assembler was unable to parse the new feature lists on the
command-line and would throw an error. This has now been fixed in GAS
and the behaviour is the same as GCC.
So this patch adds a configure-time test for the assembler in use to
detect that it is recent enough to support this behaviour and then
enables passing the architecture extensions to the assembler when this
is the case.
Although the assembly output generated by GCC does not rely on this,
this should ease some issues when using GCC as a driver for compiling
source written directly in assembly language when the programmer was
expecting the appropriate options to be passed on the command line.

The executables for GCC's c-family compilers must be built with no-PIE
because they use PCH and the current model for this requires that the
exe is always lauched at the same address. Since the other language
compilers share code with the c-family this constraint is also applied
to them.
However, the executables that run on $build (generators, and parsers
for md and def files) need not have any such constraint they do not
consume PCH files.
This change simplifies the configuration and Makefile content by
removing the code enforcing no-PIE on these exes. This also fixes a
bootstrap issue with some Darwin versions and clang as the bootstrap
compiler, where -no-PIE causes the correct relocation model to be
switched off leading to invalid user-space code.

In r12-3048-ge0b6d0b39c6, the GAS version parameter was removed from
the gcc_GAS_CHECK_FEATURE macro. It seems that overlapping comit/test
cycles resulted in several AMDGCN and one Darwin commit with the now
extra parameter still present.
This causes wrong configure code to be generated when autoreconf is
used in the gcc directory.
Fixed by removing the extraneous parm from the AMDGCN and Darwin cases.
