Manually expanding into 32-bit comparisons is much more efficient than
the default expansion into word-size comparisons. Note that word for PRU
is 8-bit.

If the number of shift positions is a constant, then the DI shift
operation is expanded to a sequence of 2 to 4 machine instructions.
That is more efficient than the default action to call libgcc.

The earlyclobber in the pattern yields inefficient code due to
unnecessarily generated moves. Optimize by removing the earlyclobber
for two special alternatives:
- If OP2 is a small constant integer.
- If the logical bit operation has only two operands.

Use the FILL instruction to efficiently load -1 constants.

Add new patterns to optimize 64-bit sign- and zero-extend operations for
the PRU target.
The new 64-bit zero-extend patterns are straightforward define_insns.
The old 16/32-bit sign-extend pattern has been rewritten from scratch
in order to add 64-bit support. The new pattern expands into several
optimized insns for filling bytes with zeros or ones, and for
conditional branching on bit-test. The bulk of this patch is to
implement the patterns for those new optimized insns.

The PRU architecture provides single-cycle access to GPIO pins via
special designated CPU registers - R30 and R31. These two registers can
of course be accessed in C code using inline assembly, but that can be
intimidating to users.
The TI proprietary compiler [1] can expose these I/O registers as global
volatile registers:
volatile register unsigned int __R31;
Consequently, accessing them in user programs is as straightforward as
using a regular global variable:
__R31 |= (1 << 2);
Unfortunately, global volatile registers are not supported by GCC [2].
I decided to implement convenient access to __R30 and __R31 using a new
named address space:
extern volatile __regio_symbol unsigned int __R30;
Unlike global registers, volatile global memory variables are well
supported in GCC. Memory writes and reads to the __regio_symbol address
space are converted to writes and reads to R30 and R31 CPU registers.
The declared variable name determines which of the two registers it is
representing.
With an ifdef for the __R30/__R31 declarations, user programs can now
be source-compatible with both TI and GCC toolchains.

1. Replace PUSH_ARGS with a target calls hook, TARGET_PUSH_ARGUMENT, which
takes an integer argument. When it returns true, push instructions will
be used to pass outgoing arguments. If the argument is nonzero, it is
the number of bytes to push and indicates the PUSH instruction usage is
optional so that the backend can decide if PUSH instructions should be
generated. Otherwise, the argument is zero.
2. Implement x86 target hook which returns false when the number of bytes
to push is no less than 16 (8 for 32-bit targets) if vector load and store
can be used.
3. Remove target PUSH_ARGS definitions which return 0 as it is the same
as the default.
4. Define TARGET_PUSH_ARGUMENT of cr16 and m32c to always return true.

So, I've tried under debugger how it behaves and seems global_options_set
is really an or of whether an option has been ever seen as explicit, either
on the command line or in any of the option pragmas or optimize/target
attributes seen so far, so it isn't something that can be relied on.
The following patch implements the saving/restoring of the opts_set bits
(though only for the options/variables saved by the generic options-save.c
code, for the target specific stuff that isn't handled by the generic code
the opts_set argument is now passed to the hook and the backends can choose
e.g. to use a TargetSave variable to save the flags either individually or
together in some bitmask (or ignore it if they never need opts_set for the
options).
This patch itself doesn't fix the testcase failing on arm, but a follow up
patch will.

Per clarification in [1], macro is supposed to check for partial
clobbering of single HW registers. Since PRU declares only 8-bit
HW registers, and ABI does not define individual bit clobbering,
it is safe to remove the implementation.

TI has clarified [1] that R3.w0 is caller saved, so allow compiler to
use it. This is safe change because older GCC versions treat R3.w0 as
fixed register and never use it.

This patch replaces the rtx_insn argument to
targetm.hard_regno_call_part_clobbered with an ABI identifier, since
call insns are now just one possible way of getting an ABI handle.
This in turn allows predefined_function_abi::initialize to do the
right thing for non-default ABIs.
The horrible ?: in need_for_call_save_p goes away in a later patch,
with the series as a whole removing most direct calls to the hook in
favour of function_abi operations.

Similarly to the call_used_or_fixed_regs patch, this one replaces
tests of call_used_regs[i] with call_used_or_fixed_reg_p (i).
The only remaining direct uses of call_used_regs are in reginfo.c
and in the conditional register usage hooks.
Again, this is purely mechanical. A later patch will clear up the
oddities in config/ code.

There seems to be a bit of confusion around this one. Almost all
callers pass the same arguments as TARGET_FUNCTION_ARG, meaning
that the mode is the promoted mode rather than the type mode.
But the calls.c handling for normal typed arguments instead passes
the unpromoted TYPE_MODE (despite passing the promoted mode to
TARGET_FUNCTION_ARG). I've kept this behaviour with a ??? comment.
(The calls.c handling of libgcc functions does pass the promoted
mode though, as does the function.c handling of incoming arguments.)
Also, a couple of the arm callers don't seem to be using the hook
correctly. Again I kept the current choices and added a ??? comment.

They have to be done together since many targets use the
same function for both.

This patch adds the function_arg_info class and uses it for
TARGET_ARG_PARTIAL_BYTES.
The hook is passed the promoted mode instead of the original type mode.
The arguments aren't mentioned in the documentation, which is why the
target.def change is so small.
The patch changes "true" to "arg.named" in:
gcc_assert (!epiphany_pass_by_reference (cum, mode, type, /* named */ true));
but epiphany_pass_by_reference doesn't care about the named flag.

We were shoe-horning all built-in enumerations (including frontend
and target-specific ones) into a field of type built_in_function. This
was accessed as either an lvalue or an rvalue using DECL_FUNCTION_CODE.
The obvious danger with this (as was noted by several ??? comments)
is that the ranges have nothing to do with each other, and targets can
easily have more built-in functions than generic code. But my patch to
make the field bigger was the straw that finally made the problem visible.
This patch therefore:
- replaces the field with a plain unsigned int
- turns DECL_FUNCTION_CODE into an rvalue-only accessor that checks
that the function really is BUILT_IN_NORMAL
- adds corresponding DECL_MD_FUNCTION_CODE and DECL_FE_FUNCTION_CODE
accessors for BUILT_IN_MD and BUILT_IN_FRONTEND respectively
- adds DECL_UNCHECKED_FUNCTION_CODE for places that need to access the
underlying field (should be low-level code only)
- adds new helpers for setting the built-in class and function code
- makes DECL_BUILT_IN_CLASS an rvalue-only accessor too, since all
assignments should go through the new helpers
