Reverse offload requests at least -misa=sm_35; with this patch, a warning
instead of an error is shown, still permitting reverse offload for all
other configured device types. This is achieved by not calling
GOMP_offload_register_ver (and stopping generating pointless 'static const char'
variables, once known.)
The tool_name as progname changes adds "nvptx " and "gcn " to the
"mkoffload: warning/error:" diagnostic.
gcc/ChangeLog:
* config/nvptx/mkoffload.cc (process): Replace a fatal_error by
a warning + not enabling offloading if -misa=sm_30 prevents
reverse offload.

This adds support for the following natively supported floating-point
operations, in scalar and vectorized modes:
floor, ceil, exp2*, log2*, sin*, cos*, ldexp, frexp
* These operations are single-precision float only and are only active
if unsafe_math_optimizations are enabled (due to potential numerical
precision issues).

The file (suffix ".mkoffload.omp_requires") used to save the 'omp requires'

Adjust the (unofficial) procedure calling ABI such that vector arguments are
passed in vector registers, not on the stack. Scalar arguments continue to
be passed in scalar registers, making a total of 12 argument registers.
The return value is also moved to a vector register (even for scalars; it
would be possible to retain the scalar location, using untyped_call, but
there's no obvious advantage in doing so).
After this change the ABI is as follows:
s0-s13 : Reserved for kernel launch parameters.
s14-s15 : Frame pointer.
s16-s17 : Stack pointer.
s18-s19 : Link register.
s20-s21 : Exec Save.
s22-s23 : CC Save.
s24-s25 : Scalar arguments. NO LONGER RETURN VALUE.
s26-s29 : Additional scalar arguments (makes 6 total).
s30-s31 : Static Chain.
v0 : Prologue/epilogue scratch.
v1 : Constant 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, ... 63.
v2-v7 : Prologue/epilogue scratch.

Handle reverse_offload, unified_address, and unified_shared_memory
requirements in libgomp by saving them alongside the offload table.
When the device lto1 runs, it extracts the data for mkoffload. The
latter than passes the value on to GOMP_offload_register_ver.
lto1 (either the host one, with -flto [+ ENABLE_OFFLOADING], or in the
offload-device lto1) also does the the consistency check is done,
erroring out when the 'omp requires' clause use is inconsistent.
For all in-principle supported devices, if a requirement cannot be fulfilled,
the device is excluded from the (supported) devices list. Currently, none of
those requirements are marked as supported for any of the non-host devices.

The rationale of the patch is to support vec_perm_expr of the form:
lhs = vec_perm_expr<rhs, mask>
where lhs and rhs are vector types with different lengths but have
same element type. For example, lhs is SVE vector and rhs
is corresponding AdvSIMD vector.
It would also allow to express extract even/odd and interleave operations
with a VEC_PERM_EXPR. The interleave currently has the issue that we have
to artificially widen the inputs with "dont-care" elements.

Revert commit r13-472-gca32b29ec3e92dcf8dda5c2501d0baf9dd1cb09d partially;
namely for {gcn,nvptx}/mkoffload.cc, only.
The patch changed 'sizeof(...)/sizeof(...[0])' to the 'ARRAY_SIZE' macro,
which is in principle a good idea – except that in the two mkoffload.cc,
the change happened inside a string that is used to generate plain C code.
With offlading to nvptx or gcn, the mkoffload genenates then the C file
and compilation of the latter fails with
"warning: implicit declaration of function 'ARRAY_SIZE'" followed by
"error: initializer element is not constant"

Up to now the libgomp GCN plugin has been finding the offload variables
by using a symbol lookup, but the AMD runtime requires that the symbols are
global for that to work. This was ensured by mkoffload as a post-procssing
step, but the LLVM 13 assembler no longer accepts this in the case where the
variable was previously declared differently.
This patch switches to locating the symbols directly from the
offload_var_table, which means that only one symbol needs to be forced
global.
This changes breaks the libgomp image compatibility so GOMP_VERSION_GCN has
also been bumped.

Between LLVM 9 and LLVM 13 the attribute works differently in several ways,
and this needs to be allowed for in GCC and mkoffload independently.
This patch fixes up mkoffload when debug info is enabled, which is made more
complicated because the configure tests checks whether the attribute option
is accepted silently, but does not check if the assembler actually sets the
ELF flags for that attribute, and mkoffload needs to mimick that behaviour
exactly. The patch therefore removes some of the conditionals.

what is needed.

The option was already there, but just an alias for -msram-ecc=on. Now that
LLVM13 supports HSACOv4 and the new ELF flags I can implement the option
properly.
The "any" option is the default in order to ensure that library files work
whichever way the user wants, which means we won't need multilibs to support
the different SRAM ECC hardware configurations.

This is an optimisation for middle-end worker-partitioning support (used
to support multiple workers on AMD GCN). At present, barriers may be
emitted in cases where they aren't needed and cannot be optimised away.
This patch stops the extraneous barriers from being emitted in the
first place.
One exception to the above (where the barrier is still needed) is for
predicated blocks of code that perform a write to gang-private shared
memory from one worker. We must execute a barrier before other workers
read that shared memory location.
gcc/
* config/gcn/gcn.c (gimple.h): Include.
(gcn_fork_join): Emit barrier for worker-level joins.
* omp-oacc-neuter-broadcast.cc (find_local_vars_to_propagate): Add

This patch implements an algorithm to lay out local data-share (LDS)
space. It currently works for AMD GCN. At the moment, LDS is used for
three things:
1. Gang-private variables
2. Reduction temporaries (accumulators)
3. Broadcasting for worker partitioning
After the patch is applied, (2) and (3) are placed at preallocated
locations in LDS, and (1) continues to be handled by the backend (as it
is at present prior to this patch being applied). LDS now looks like this:
+--------------+ (gang-private size + 1024, = 1536)
free space
...
- - - - - - -
worker bcast
+--------------+
reductions
+--------------+ <<< -mgang-private-size=<number> (def. 512)
gang-private
vars
+--------------+ (32)
low LDS vars
+--------------+ LDS base
So, gang-private space is fixed at a constant amount at compile time
(which can be increased with a command-line switch if necessary
for some given code). The layout algorithm takes out a slice of the
remainder of usable space for reduction vars, and uses the rest for
worker partitioning.
The partitioning algorithm works as follows.
1. An "adjacency" set is built up for each basic block that might
do a broadcast. This is calculated by starting at each such block,
and doing a recursive DFS walk over successors to find the next
block (or blocks) that *also* does a broadcast
(dfs_broadcast_reachable_1).
2. The adjacency set is inverted to get adjacent predecessor blocks also.
3. Blocks that will perform a broadcast are sorted by size of that
broadcast: the biggest blocks are handled first.
4. A splay tree structure is used to calculate the spans of LDS memory
that are already allocated by the blocks adjacent to this one
(merge_ranges{,_1}.
5. The current block's broadcast space is allocated from the first free
span not allocated in the splay tree structure calculated above
(first_fit_range). This seems to work quite nicely and efficiently
with the splay tree structure.
6. Continue with the next-biggest broadcast block until we're done.
In this way, "adjacent" broadcasts will not use the same piece of
LDS memory.
PR96334 "openacc: Unshare reduction temporaries for GCN" got merged in:
The GCN backend uses tree nodes like MEM((__lds TYPE *) <constant>)
for reduction temporaries. Unlike e.g. var decls and SSA names, these
nodes cannot be shared during gimplification, but are so in some
circumstances. This is detected when appropriate --enable-checking
options are used. This patch unshares such nodes when they are reused
more than once.

This patch implements worker-partitioning support in the middle end,
by rewriting gimple. The OpenACC execution model requires that code
can run in either "worker single" mode where only a single worker per
gang is active, or "worker partitioned" mode, where multiple workers
per gang are active. This means we need to do something equivalent
to spawning additional workers when transitioning from worker-single
to worker-partitioned mode. However, GPUs typically fix the number of
threads of invoked kernels at launch time, so we need to do something
with the "extra" threads when they are not wanted.
The scheme used is to conditionalise each basic block that executes
in "worker single" mode for worker 0 only. Conditional branches
are handled specially so "idle" (non-0) workers follow along with
worker 0. On transitioning to "worker partitioned" mode, any variables
modified by worker 0 are propagated to the other workers via GPU shared
memory. Special care is taken for routine calls, writes through pointers,
and so forth, as follows:
- There are two types of function calls to consider in worker-single
mode: "normal" calls to maths library routines, etc. are called from
worker 0 only. OpenACC routines may contain worker-partitioned loops
themselves, so are called from all workers, including "idle" ones.
- SSA names set in worker-single mode, but used in worker-partitioned
mode, are copied to shared memory in worker 0. Other workers retrieve
the value from the appropriate shared-memory location after a barrier,
and new phi nodes are introduced at the convergence point to resolve
the worker 0/other worker copies of the value.
- Local scalar variables (on the stack) also need special handling. We
broadcast any variables that are written in the current worker-single
block, and that are read in any worker-partitioned block. (This is
believed to be safe, and is flow-insensitive to ease analysis.)
- Local aggregates (arrays and composites) on the stack are *not*
broadcast. Instead we force gimple stmts modifying elements/fields of
local aggregates into fully-partitioned mode. The RHS of the
assignment is a scalar, and is thus subject to broadcasting as above.
- Writes through pointers may affect any local variable that has
its address taken. We use points-to analysis to determine the set
of potentially-affected variables for a given pointer indirection.
We broadcast any such variable which is used in worker-partitioned
mode, on a per-block basis for any block containing a write through
a pointer.

Using frame pointer in the CFA rule is only real possibility as it is saved

This patch enables support for TImode for AMD GCN, the lack of which
is currently causing a number of test failures for the target and which
is also needed to support "omp_depend_kind" for OpenMP 5.0, since that
is implemented as a 128-bit integer.
Several libgcc support routines are built by default for the "word size"
of a machine, and also for "2 * word size" of the machine. The libgcc
build for AMD GCN is changed so that it builds for a "word size" of 64
bits, in order to better match the (64-bit) host compiler. However it
isn't really true that we have 64-bit words -- GCN has 32-bit registers,
so changing UNITS_PER_WORD unconditionally would be the wrong thing to do.
Changing this setting for libgcc (only) means that support routines
are built for "single word" operations that are DImode (64 bits), and
those for "double word" operations are built for TImode (128 bits).
That leaves some gaps regarding previous operations that were built
for a "single word" size of 32 bits and a "double word" size of 64 bits
(generic code doesn't cover both alternatives for all operations that
might be needed). Those gaps are filled in by this patch, or by the
preceding patches in the series.

This patch adds an open-coded implementation of the clrsb<mode>2
(count leading redundant sign bit) standard names using the GCN flbit_i*
instructions for SImode and DImode. Those don't count exactly as we need,
so we need a couple of other instructions to fix up the result afterwards.
These patterns are lost from libgcc if we build it for DImode/TImode
rather than SImode/DImode, a change we make in a later patch in this
series.

This patch improves 64-bit multiplication for AMD GCN: patterns for
unsigned and signed 32x32->64 bit multiplication have been added, and
also 64x64->64 bit multiplication is now open-coded rather than calling
a library function (which may be a win for code size as well as speed:
the function calling sequence isn't particularly concise for GCN).
This version of the patch uses define_insn_and_split in order to keep
multiply operations together during RTL optimisations up to register
allocation: this appears to produce more compact code via inspection on
small test cases than the previous approach using an expander.
The DImode multiply implementation is lost from libgcc if we build it
for DImode/TImode rather than SImode/DImode, a change we make in a later
patch in this series.

[PR90115]
This patch implements a method to track the "private-ness" of
OpenACC variables declared in offload regions in gang-partitioned,
worker-partitioned or vector-partitioned modes. Variables declared
implicitly in scoped blocks and those declared "private" on enclosing
directives (e.g. "acc parallel") are both handled. Variables that are
e.g. gang-private can then be adjusted so they reside in GPU shared
memory.
The reason for doing this is twofold: correct implementation of OpenACC
semantics, and optimisation, since shared memory might be faster than
the main memory on a GPU. Handling of private variables is intimately
tied to the execution model for gangs/workers/vectors implemented by
a particular target: for current targets, we use (or on mainline, will
soon use) a broadcasting/neutering scheme.
That is sufficient for code that e.g. sets a variable in worker-single
mode and expects to use the value in worker-partitioned mode. The
difficulty (semantics-wise) comes when the user wants to do something like
an atomic operation in worker-partitioned mode and expects a worker-single
(gang private) variable to be shared across each partitioned worker.
Forcing use of shared memory for such variables makes that work properly.
In terms of implementation, the parallelism level of a given loop is
not fixed until the oaccdevlow pass in the offload compiler, so the
patch delays fixing the parallelism level of variables declared on or
within such loops until the same point. This is done by adding a new
internal UNIQUE function (OACC_PRIVATE) that lists (the address of) each
private variable as an argument, and other arguments set so as to be able
to determine the correct parallelism level to use for the listed
variables. This new internal function fits into the existing scheme for
demarcating OpenACC loops, as described in comments in the patch.
Two new target hooks are introduced: TARGET_GOACC_ADJUST_PRIVATE_DECL and
TARGET_GOACC_EXPAND_VAR_DECL. The first can tweak a variable declaration
at oaccdevlow time, and the second at expand time. The first or both
of these target hooks can be used by a given offload target, depending
on its strategy for implementing private variables.
This patch updates the TARGET_GOACC_ADJUST_PRIVATE_DECL target hook in
the AMD GCN backend to the current name and prototype. (An earlier
version of the hook was already present, but dormant.)
