In PR 113476 we have discovered that ipcp_param_lattices is no longer
a POD and should be destructed. In a follow-up discussion it
transpired that their initialization done by memsetting their backing
memory to zero is also invalid because now any write there before
construction can be considered dead. Plus that having them in an
array is a little bit old-school and does not get the extra checking
offered by vector along with automatic construction and destruction
when necessary.
So this patch converts the array to a vector. That however means that
ipcp_param_lattices cannot be just a forward declared type but must be
known to all code that deals with ipa_node_params and thus to all code
that includes ipa-prop.h. Therefore I have moved ipcp_param_lattices
and the type it depends on to a new header ipa-cp.h which now
ipa-prop.h depends on. Because we have the (IMHO not a very wise)
rule that headers don't include what they need themselves, I had to
add inclusions of ipa-cp.h and sreal.h (on which it depends) to very
many files, which made the patch rather ugly.

When you're not regularly exposed to this warning, it is
easy to be misled by its wording, believing that there's
something else in the function that stops it from being
inlined, something other than the lack of also being
*declared* inline. Also, clang does not warn.
It's just a warning: without the inline directive, there has
to be a secondary reason for the function to be inlined,
other than the always_inline attribute, a reason that may be
in effect despite the warning.
Whenever the text is quoted in inline-related bugzilla
entries, there seems to often have been an initial step of
confusion that has to be cleared, for example in PR55830.
A file in the powerpc-specific parts of the test-suite,
gcc.target/powerpc/vec-extract-v16qiu-v2.h, has a comment
and seems to be another example, and I testify as the
first-hand third "experience". The wording has been the
same since the warning was added.
Let's just tweak the wording, adding the cause, so that the
reason for the warning is clearer. This hopefully stops the
user from immediately asking "'Might'? Because why?" and
then going off looking at the function body - or grepping
the gcc source or documentation, or enter a bug-report
subsequently closed as resolved/invalid.
Since the message is only appended with additional
information, no test-case actually required adjustment.
I still changed them, so the message is covered.

This patch adds the strub attribute for function and variable types,
command-line options, passes and adjustments to implement it,
documentation, and tests.
Stack scrubbing is implemented in a machine-independent way: functions
with strub enabled are modified so that they take an extra stack
watermark argument, that they update with their stack use, and the
caller can then zero it out once it regains control, whether by return
or exception. There are two ways to go about it: at-calls, that
modifies the visible interface (signature) of the function, and
internal, in which the body is moved to a clone, the clone undergoes
the interface change, and the function becomes a wrapper, preserving
its original interface, that calls the clone and then clears the stack
used by it.
Variables can also be annotated with the strub attribute, so that
functions that read from them get stack scrubbing enabled implicitly,
whether at-calls, for functions only usable within a translation unit,
or internal, for functions whose interfaces must not be modified.
There is a strict mode, in which functions that have their stack
scrubbed can only call other functions with stack-scrubbing
interfaces, or those explicitly marked as callable from strub
contexts, so that an entire call chain gets scrubbing, at once or
piecemeal depending on optimization levels. In the default mode,
relaxed, this requirement is not enforced by the compiler.
The implementation adds two IPA passes, one that assigns strub modes
early on, another that modifies interfaces and adds calls to the
builtins that jointly implement stack scrubbing. Another builtin,
that obtains the stack pointer, is added for use in the implementation
of the builtins, whether expanded inline or called in libgcc.
There are new command-line options to change operation modes and to
force the feature disabled; it is enabled by default, but it has no
effect and is implicitly disabled if the strub attribute is never
used. There are also options meant to use for testing the feature,
enabling different strubbing modes for all (viable) functions.

In 107897, by the time we are looking at the mangling clash, the
alias has already been removed from the symbol table by analyze_functions,
so we can't look at n->cpp_implicit_alias. So just assume that it's an
alias if it's internal.
In 108887 the problem is that removing the mangling alias from the symbol
table confuses analyze_functions, because it ended up as first_analyzed
somehow, so it becomes a dangling pointer. So instead we call reset()
to neutralize the alias. To make this work for variables, I needed to move
reset() from cgraph_node to symtab_node.

On the following testcase, we warn with -Wunused-value twice, once
in the FEs and later on cgraphunit again with slightly different
wording.
The following patch fixes that by registering a warning suppression in the
FEs when we warn and not warning in cgraphunit anymore if that happened.

When we have a static declaration without definition we diagnose
that and turn it into an extern declaration. That can alter
the outcome of maybe_special_function_p here and there's really
no point in doing that, so don't.

SIMD clones are created during the IPA phase when it is not known whether
or not the vectorizer can use them. Clones for functions with external
linkage are part of the ABI, but local clones can be GC'ed if no calls are
found in the compilation unit after vectorization.

My earlier patches gimplify the simplest non-side-effects assumptions
into if (cond) ; else __builtin_unreachable (); and throw the rest
on the floor.
The following patch attempts to do something with the rest too.
For -O0, it throws the more complex assumptions on the floor,
we don't expect optimizations and the assumptions are there to allow
optimizations. Otherwise arranges for the assumptions to be
visible in the IL as

call where there is an artificial function like:

Aldy, could ranger handle this? If it sees .ASSUME call,
walk the body of such function from the edge(s) to exit with the
assumption that the function returns true, so above set _2 [true, true]
and from there derive that i_1(D) [43, 43] and then map the argument
in the assumption function to argument passed to IFN_ASSUME (note,
args there are shifted by 1)?
During gimplification it actually gimplifies it into
[[assume (D.2591)]]

which is a new GIMPLE_ASSUME statement wrapping a GIMPLE_BIND and
specifying a boolean_type_node variable which contains the result.
The GIMPLE_ASSUME then survives just a couple of passes and is lowered
during gimple lowering into an outlined separate function and
IFN_ASSUME call. Variables declared inside of the
condition (both static and automatic) just change context, automatic
variables from the caller are turned into parameters (note, as the code
is never executed, I handle this way even non-POD types, we don't need to
bother pretending there would be user copy constructors etc. involved).
The assume_function artificial functions are then optimized until the
new assumptions pass which doesn't do much right now but I'd like to see
there the backwards ranger walk and filling up of SSA_NAME_RANGE_INFO
for the parameters.
There are a few further changes I'd like to do, like ignoring the
.ASSUME calls in inlining size estimations (but haven't figured out where
it is done), or for LTO arrange for the assume functions to be emitted
in all partitions that reference those (usually there will be just one,
unless code with the assumption got inlined, versioned etc.).

When -dx option is used (didn't know we have it and no idea what is it
useful for), we just expand functions to RTL and then omit all further
RTL passes, so the normal functions aren't actually emitted into assembly,
just variables.
The following testcase ICEs, because we don't emit the methods, but do
emit thunks pointing to that and those thunks have unwind info and rely on
at least some real functions to be emitted (which is normally the case,
thunks are only emitted for locally defined functions) because otherwise
there are no CIEs, only FDEs and dwarf2out is upset about it.
The following patch fixes that by not emitting assembly thunks for -dx
either.

When not optimizing, we can't do anything useful with unreachability in
terms of code performance, so we might as well improve debugging by turning
__builtin_unreachable into a trap. I think it also makes sense to do this
when we're explicitly optimizing for the debugging experience.
In the PR richi suggested introducing an -funreachable-traps flag for this.
This functionality is already implemented as -fsanitize=unreachable
-fsanitize-trap=unreachable, and we want to share the implementation, but it
does seem useful to have a separate flag that isn't affected by the various
sanitization controls. -fsanitize=unreachable takes priority over
-funreachable-traps if both are enabled.
Jakub observed that this would slow down -O0 by default from running the
sanopt pass, so this revision avoids the need for sanopt by rewriting calls
introduced by the compiler immediately, and calls written by the user at
fold time. Many of the calls introduced by the compiler are also rewritten
immediately to ubsan calls when not trapping, which fixes ubsan-8b.C;
previously the call to f() was optimized away before sanopt. But this early
rewriting isn't practical for uses of __builtin_unreachable in
devirtualization and such, so sanopt rewriting is still done for
non-trapping sanitize.

The following makes the main gimple_build API take a
gimple_stmt_iterator, whether to insert before or after and
an iterator update argument to make it more convenient to use
in certain situations (see the tree-vect-generic.cc hunks for
an example). It also makes the case we insert into the IL
somewhat distinct from inserting into a standalone sequence in
that it simplifies built expressions the same way as inserting
and calling fold_stmt (..., follow_all_ssa_edges) would. When
inserting into a standalone sequence we restrict simplification
to defs within the currently building sequence.
The patch only amends the tree_code gimple_build API, I will
followup with converting the rest as well. The patch got larger
than intended because the template forwarders now use gsi_last
which introduces a dependency on gimple-iterator.h requiring
mass #include re-org across the tree. There are two frontend
specific files including gimple-fold.h just for some padding
clearing stuff - I've removed the include and instead moved
the declarations to fold-const.h (but not the implementations).
Otherwise I'd have to include half of the middle-end headers in
those files which I didn't much like.
